Jaguars RB James Robinson ruled questionable vs. Bears, 2 others ruled out

The Jags ruled two payers out for Sunday’s game against the Bear, including a key member of the secondary.

The Jacksonville Jaguars ruled two players out for Week 16’s game in receiver Collin Johnson and cornerback Sidney Jones IV. Running back James Robinson also surfaced in the status column as questionable.

All three players didn’t participate in practice Wednesday through Friday, which indicated that all would surface in the status column. However, Johnson and Robinson’s injuries stemmed from last Sunday’s game against the Baltimore Ravens, as both left the game early.

With Johnson out, the Jags could turn to their practice squad to promote either Josh Hammond or Damion Willis. If promoted, it would mark the first time either suited up for the Jags in a game.

Earlier in the week, coach Doug Marrone stated that Robinson wanted to play, but if he doesn’t, the Jags have three rushers on the active roster who could split snaps. Those players are Nathan Cottrell, Dare Ogunbowale, and Devine Ozigbo.

On the Bears’ end, defensive backs Jaylon Johnson and Buster Skrine were ruled out. Tight end Demetrius Harris was ruled doubtful while receiver Allen Robinson, defensive tackle Bilal Nichols, and pass rusher Khalil Mack were notables who were ruled questionable.

The Chicago Bears released their final injury report ahead of Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, which included a couple of key starters in the secondary that have already been ruled out.

Chicago has ruled out cornerbacks Jaylon Johnson (shoulder) and Buster Skrine (concussion), which means more of Duke Shelley and Kindle Vildor in Week 16.

There were also a handful of players deemed questionable against the Jaguars, including Shelley, outside linebacker Khalil Mack, defensive tackle Akiem Hicks, receiver Allen Robinson, defensive tackle Bilal Nichols and kick returner/running back Cordarrelle Patterson.

4 bold predictions for Bears vs. Jaguars in Week 16

The Bears are easily favored to win on Sunday and should be above .500 for the 1st time since Week 9. How will they get their win exactly?

By all accounts, the Chicago Bears won’t need a Christmas miracle to defeat the Jacksonville Jaguars as they continue their pursuit to make the postseason.

The Bears are winners of two in a row, thanks to their revamped offense that has averaged over 31 points per game in the last four weeks. The 1-13 Jaguars, meanwhile, are well on their way to the number one pick in the 2021 NFL Draft after the New York Jets won their first game of the season last week.

But they could be without several key starters heading into the game. Here’s a look at the full injury report from Thursday’s practice.

Chicago vs. Jacksonville: Which Jaguars player would you want on the Bears?

The Bears will face off against the Jaguars in Week 16, where Chicago will be looking to keep their playoff hopes alive with a win.

With just two weeks remaining in the 2020 regular season, the Chicago Bears are just one game out of a playoff spot in the NFC. But to keep it that way, they’re going to need to get a win against the 1-13 Jacksonville Jaguars, a team that they certainly shouldn’t overlook.

The Bears are coming off a 33-27 win over the Minnesota Vikings, where Chicago’s offense once again had an impressive outing that saved the Bears’ faint playoff hopes. While the defense was inconsistent — giving up 100 yards on the ground to Dalvin Cook and through the air to Justin Jefferson, not to mention nearly 30 points — they came up with some big stops.

Meanwhile, the Jaguars’ season has been over for awhile, and they currently own the top pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. But don’t expect this team to tank, even with quarterback Trevor Lawrence waiting in the wings. Still, this Jacksonville team is 1-13 for a reason, and Chicago’s offense will look to once again beat up on a lowly defense while the Bears’ defense has a chance to get back on track against the Jaguars offense.

While Jacksonville has a terrible record, there’s no shortage of talented players on their roster, including running back James Robinson, linebacker Myles Jack, defensive end Josh Allen and receiver DJ Chark.

As Chicago prepares to face Jacksonville, which Jaguars players would you want on the Bears?

Bears vs. Jaguars predictions: Will Chicago keep their playoff hopes alive?

Can Chicago keep their playoff hopes alive with a win against Jacksonville? Our Bears Wire staff shares their predictions for Sunday’s game.

The Chicago Bears have won two straight games, and they find themselves right in the thick of the NFC postseason race just one game out of the playoffs. Which means these final two weeks are even more important, especially considering they need to win out and need some help along the way.

It certainly helps that the Bears will face the 1-13 Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 16, a game that could be over quickly or one that be surprisingly close.

Cordarrelle Patterson avoided serious knee injury, could play vs. Jaguars

Bears KR/RB Cordarrelle Patterson is day-to-day with a knee injury heading into a Week 16 game against the Jaguars.

The Chicago Bears had a bit of an injury scare in last Sunday’s win against the Minnesota Vikings when kick returner/running back Cordarrelle Patterson left the game with a knee injury in the first half.

Patterson later returned the game, where he returned kickoffs but wasn’t involved much in the run game, which gave starting running back David Montgomery more touches.

While Patterson returned, his status isn’t without its concerns. He is officially day-to-day with a knee injury, according to head coach Matt Nagy.

But according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Patterson avoided a serious knee injury, and there’s a chance he could play against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.

If Patterson doesn’t suit up, the Bears will likely turn to receiver Anthony Miller to return kickoffs while relying heavily on Montgomery in the run game. Chicago did sign veteran running back Spencer Ware to the practice squad on Tuesday, which would give the Bears’ running back room some depth. Especially considering there are two inexperienced guys behind Montgomery.

We’ll see if Patterson’s condition improves headed into a pivotal match-up against the 1-13 Jaguars, where a playoff spot is on the line for Chicago in the final two weeks.

Bears protect QB Tyler Bray, RB Spencer Ware on practice squad in Week 16

The Bears have protected two players on their practice squad this week ahead of Sunday’s game against the Jaguars.

[jwplayer Huuatmwd-ThvAeFxT]

The practice squad has become even more important this season for NFL teams with injuries and COVID-19 designations. Teams are allowed to designate up to four practice-squad players every week that are protected from being signed away from other teams.

The Chicago Bears have protected two players on their practice squad this week ahead of Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in quarterback Tyler Bray in new addition running back Spencer Ware.

Chicago has protected Bray every week, as he’s someone with experience in Matt Nagy’s offense that provides emergency assistance. That came in handy several weeks ago when Mitchell Trubisky was sidelined with a shoulder injury and then-starter Nick Foles suffered a hip injury at the end of the Minnesota Vikings game in Week 10.

With running back/receiver/kick returner Cordarrelle Patterson day-to-day with a knee injury sustained in last week’s win against the Vikings, the Bears signed Ware to the practice squad as added depth. If Patterson doesn’t suit up — or if he’s limited to just kick returns — Chicago needs someone with experience to back up starter David Montgomery.

Ware, who has worked with Matt Nagy during his time in Kansas City, brings with him an understanding of Nagy’s offense. Although, to be fair, the Bears haven’t exactly been running Nagy’s offense over the last month. Still, Ware provides some veteran leadership to Chicago’s running backs room.

Depending on how Patterson progresses this week, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Ware elevated to the active roster for game day on Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Bears-Jaguars’ Week 16 game moving from FOX to CBS

The NFL has moved the Chicago Bears’ Week 16 match-up against the Jacksonville Jaguars from FOX to CBS, the league announced Monday.

With just three games remaining this season, the Chicago Bears are still holding onto slim playoff hopes. That after the Bears snapped their six-game losing streak with a dominant 36-7 victory over the Houston Texans in Week 14.

But to have any chance at squeaking into the playoffs, they’re going to need to take care of business over the next three weeks. Which is certainly doable, at least in two of their last three games.

The NFL has moved Chicago’s Week 16 match-up against the Jacksonville Jaguars from FOX to CBS, the league announced Monday. But rest assured, the game remains at Noon CT.

Chicago’s final three games feature two divisional showdowns, starting with this Sunday’s Week 15 contest against the Minnesota Vikings. That’s followed by the Jaguars game before the Bears close things out against the Green Bay Packers at Soldier Field in Week 17.

Whether Chicago will be contending for that final wild card spot remains to be seen. But it’s always good when the Bears are playing meaningful football in December.
