Calgary Stampeders at Winnipeg Blue Bombers odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Sunday’s Calgary Stampeders at Winnipeg Blue Bombers matchup, with CFL odds, lines, picks, predictions and best bets.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers (2-1) host the West Division rival Calgary Stampeders (1-2) in the final game of the CFL’s Week 4. Kickoff at IG Field is set for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Stampeders vs. Blue Bombers odds and lines and make our best CFL picks, predictions and bets.

The Stampeders entered the win column for the first time in the 2021 season with a 28-22 home victory over the Montreal Alouettes last week. QB Jake Maier stepped in for the injured Bo Levi Mitchell to go 16-for-29 for 304 yards and 1 touchdown against 2 interceptions.

Winnipeg suffered its first loss of the season last week in falling 30-23 on the road against the Toronto Argonauts. Blue Bombers QB Zach Collaros passed for 204 yards and 2 TD with 1 INT while RB Brady Oliveira had 7 carries for 28 yards.

Stampeders at Blue Bombers odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Blue Bombers 25, Stampeders 17

Money line

The Blue Bombers should get back on track following last week’s upset loss but it’s best to PASS on the expensive money line.

Bombers RB Andrew Harris (calf), the MVP of the 2019 Grey Cup, is questionable to make his season debut but WR Nic Demski (hip) was ruled out and WRs Drew Wolitarsky (thorax) and Rasheed Bailey (knee) are both questionable. The injuries would likely hamper Collaros and the Winnipeg passing attack and anything can happen in a low-scoring game.

Maier impressed last week but that was the rookie’s first CFL game. He’ll face a tougher test Sunday.

Against the spread

Back the BLUE BOMBERS -6.5 (-117) to win by 7 or more points. They have the advantage in the quarterback matchup and will in the ground attack if Harris is able to suit up for his season debut.

Over/Under

Bet the UNDER 44.5 (-120) with Maier likely to struggle against the reigning Grey Cup champs.

The Stamps put up just 29 points over their first two games of the season and caught Montreal by surprise last week. The Bombers have a week of film on Maier to prep for the Week 4 matchup.

BC Lions at Ottawa RedBlacks odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s BC Lions at Ottawa RedBlacks matchup, with CFL odds, lines, picks, predictions and best bets.

The BC Lions (1-2) visit the Ottawa RedBlacks (1-1) Saturday for the second game of the CFL’s Week 4 with both teams looking to shake off a loss from last week. Kickoff at TD Place will be at 7 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Lions vs. RedBlacks odds and lines and make our best CFL picks, predictions and bets.

The Lions fell 21-16 to the previously winless Edmonton Elks at home Aug. 19. They’ve alternated wins and losses through three weeks while QB Michael Reilly (elbow) has battled injury.

The RedBlacks upset the Elks 16-12 on the road in Week 1 but suffered a 23-10 road loss against the Saskatchewan Roughriders following a Week 2 bye. QB Matt Nichols has been a major disappointment with just 247 passing yards, no touchdowns and 1 interception through two games.

Lions at RedBlacks odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

RedBlacks 22, Lions 19

Money line

Back the RedBlacks (+160) as home underdogs against the banged-up Lions. In addition to Reilly being limited at practice all week, RBs James Butler (ankle) and Shaq Cooper (hamstring) were limited; WR Lemar Durant (knee) returned to a full practice Thursday.

Though Ottawa is struggling mightily to put points on the board, the defense has been strong and should be able to contain a Lions offense at less than full health.

Against the spread

If the money line upset prediction seems too brazen, back the REDBLACKS +4.5 (-120) with 4 points of insurance.

Ottawa hasn’t given up a passing touchdown through two games and is well-built to handle BC’s one-sided attack.

Over/Under

The UNDER 43.5 (-120) is the way to go on the low total. Both teams have injuries at key skill positions, Nichols has struggled to move the chains and Reilly has just 1 passing TD despite completing 71.6% of his passes for 673 yards.

Hamilton Tiger-Cats at Montreal Alouettes odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Friday’s Hamilton Tiger-Cats at Montreal Alouettes matchup, with CFL odds, lines, picks, predictions and best bets.

The Montreal Alouettes (1-1) host the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (0-2) Friday night at Percival Molson Memorial Stadium. Kickoff will be at 7:30 p.m. ET in the night’s lone CFL game. Below, we look at the Tiger-Cats vs. Alouettes odds and lines and make our best CFL picks, predictions and bets.

The winless Ticats are making a change under center this week with Dane Evans taking over for Jeremiah Masoli, according to head coach Orlondo Steinauer. Masoli was limited at practice all week due to a ribs injury. He completed just 62.1% of his passes for 377 yards and a single touchdown against 4 interceptions through two games.

The Als returned from a Week 1 bye to upset the Edmonton Elks 30-13 on the road in Week 2 before taking a 28-22 road loss against the Calgary Stampeders last week. QB Vernon Adams went just 20-for-42 for 261 yards and 2 TDs against 1 INT in Calgary. Montreal makes its home debut after going 6-3 at Molson Memorial Stadium in 2019.

Tiger-Cats at Alouettes odds, spread and lines

Odds via Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 5:29 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Tiger-Cats -145 (bet $145 to win $100) | Alouettes +105 (bet $100 to win $105)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Tiger-Cats -2.5 (-120) | Alouettes +2.5 (-115)

Tiger-Cats at Alouettes odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Alouettes 25, Tiger-Cats 22

Money line

The ALOUETTES (+105) are a strong play as home underdogs Friday night. They excelled in their home stadium in 2019 and looked dominant on the road in Week 2 of this season before taking a step back against the Stamps and unknown QB Jake Meier last week. The Als fell 1 yard and a fraction of a second shy of what would have been a stunning comeback.

This is also a bet against the Tabbies, who have regressed on both sides of the ball after playing in the 2019 Grey Cup. Evans passed for 3,754 yards and 21 TDs against 13 interceptions. He added another 161 yards and 3 scores on the ground while spelling an injured Masoli in 2019, but it’s the defense that’s more concerning.

Hamilton had the CFL’s No. 1 scoring defense in 2019 but gave up a total of 49 points in its first two games this season. Adams and the Als can pounce on that at home.

Against the spread

We can take the ALOUETTES +2.5 (-115) with a 2-point cushion in the event of a loss as insurance for our upset prediction.

Any CFL bettor knows the pain of losing on a late rouge and we just saw Montreal come up agonizingly shy of victory last week.

Over/Under

Bet the OVER 46.5 (-125).

We’ve seen Montreal’s ability to score quickly and Evans is sure to inject some life into the stagnant Hamilton attack.

Ottawa RedBlacks at Saskatchewan Roughriders odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Ottawa RedBlacks at Saskatchewan Roughriders matchup, with CFL odds, lines, picks, predictions and best bets.

The Ottawa RedBlacks (1-0) come off a bye to visit the Saskatchewan Roughriders (2-0) at Mosaic Stadium Saturday for the final game of Week 3 CFL action. Kickoff will be at 7 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the RedBlacks vs. Roughriders odds and lines and make our best CFL picks, predictions and bets.

Ottawa upset the Edmonton Elks 16-12 on the road in Week 1 before receiving an early week off. The win came despite QB Matt Nichols completing just 12 of 20 passes for 71 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions. The RedBlacks defense keyed the victory with 3 interceptions off of Elks QB, and former Ottawa starter, Trevor Harris.

Saskatchewan defeated the BC Lions 33-29 at home in Week 1 and throttled the visiting Hamilton Tiger-Cats 30-8 last week. The ‘Riders are playing a third straight home game to open the 2021 season before a Week 4 bye in a very friendly start to what hopes to be a Grey Cup-challenging campaign.

RedBlacks at Roughriders odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Roughriders 19, RedBlacks 16

Money line

PASS on the money line due to the chalky price on the Roughriders as home favorites.

The Montreal Alouettes came of their Week 1 bye to rout the Elks 30-13 on the road in Week 2. These early-season byes are very helpful for rest and watching game film after the 2020 CFL campaign was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, however, it’s unlikely to be enough of a boost for the RedBlacks against the powerhouse ‘Riders.

Against the spread

Bet on the REDBLACKS +10.5 (-125) to cover the most lopsided spread of the season and keep it tight.

Again, the extra week to prepare based on how the Roughriders played last week will be a great advantage for Ottawa. The RedBlacks defense was dominant in Week 1 and the veteran Nichols should show some improvement in his second game with his new team.

Over/Under

Back the UNDER 46.5 (-120).

The rested and well-prepared RedBlacks defense should slow down a Roughriders team with 63 points through two games. On the other side, the ‘Riders defense held the Ti-Cats to just 8 points last week after shockingly being carved up for 29 points by the Lions in Week 1.

Montreal Alouettes at Calgary Stampeders odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Friday’s Montreal Alouettes at Calgary Stampeders matchup, with CFL odds, lines, picks, predictions and best bets.

The Montreal Alouettes (1-0) play a second straight game in Alberta this week with a Friday visit to the Calgary Stampeders (0-2). Kickoff at McMahon Stadium will be at 9:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Alouettes at Stampeders odds and lines and make our best CFL picks, predictions and bets.

Stamps QB Bo Levi Mitchell (leg) was placed on the six-game injured list this week after suffering a broken leg in Week 1 but played through the injury last week. He had completed just 60.3% of his passes for 542 yards and 1 touchdown against a league-high 5 interceptions and will be replaced under center by Canadian QB Michael O’Connor in Week 3.

The Alouettes had the Week 1 bye and returned to beat the Edmonton Elks 30-13 on the road last week. QB Vernon Adams went 13-for-21 for 211 yards and 2 TD and RB William Stanback racked up 112 yards on 18 carries in the blowout win.

Alouettes at Stampeders odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Alouettes 29, Stampeders 18

Money line

The ALOUETTES (-260) are a strong play after winning on the road while registering 5 sacks against the Elks. They didn’t even record an interception or fumble recovery to pad the stats in the blowout 17-point win.

The injury to Mitchell further handicaps the winless and last-place Stampeders, despite a modest minus-9 point differential. O’Connor’s in his second CFL season but first with the Stamps. The Canadian national completed 15 of 25 attempts for 173 yards and 1 TD over nine games with the Toronto Argonauts in 2019.

Against the spread

Double down on the visitors and back the ALOUETTES -5.5 (-120) for a win by 6 or more points.

The Stampeders are averaging a modest 84.0 yards per game on the ground and RBs Ka’Deem Carey and Ante Milanovic-Litre are unlikely to take much defensive pressure off of O’Connor.

Over/Under

Lean slightly to the OVER 45.5 (-105) as the sportsbooks seem to have overcorrected to the early trend of low-scoring games through two weeks.

Adams and Montreal hung 30 points on a better Elks team last week and should be loosened up after the early bye.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers at Toronto Argonauts odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Winnipeg Blue Bombers at Toronto Argonauts matchup, with CFL odds, lines, picks, predictions and best bets.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers (2-0) visit the Toronto Argonauts (1-1) in the first of two games on the CFL’s Week 3 Saturday schedule. Kickoff at BMO Field will be at 4 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Blue Bombers vs. Argonauts odds and lines and make our best CFL picks, predictions and bets.

This is the second half of a home-and-home between the cross-division rivals. Winnipeg beat Toronto 20-7 on its home field last week as QB Zach Collaros went 32-for-40 for 292 yards and 2 touchdowns against 1 interception.

Toronto makes a change at starting quarterback coming into this one. QB McLeod Bethel-Thompson was replaced by backup Nick Arbuckle midway through last week’s game and Arbuckle will draw the Week 3 start in the Argos’ 2021 home opener. He went 10-for-19 for 96 yards and 1 INT after entering the Week 2 matchup in the third quarter.

Blue Bombers at Argonauts odds, spread and lines

Blue Bombers at Argonauts odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Blue Bombers 24, Argonauts 13

Money line

The BLUE BOMBERS (-190) can be backed as moderate road favorites. The long-reigning 2019 Grey Cup champions have picked up where they left off with back-to-back season-opening wins over the Argos and Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

Arbuckle did little last week to steal the starting job away from Bethel-Thompson and it’s unlikely he finds his groove and ups his play in the immediate rematch.

Against the spread

Back the BLUE BOMBERS -3.5 (-110) to win by 4 or more points for a proper return on investment.

After bouncing around the league in 2019, including a brief stop in Toronto, Collaros found his groove with the Bombers and helped lead them to the Grey Cup victory. He has been excellent through two weeks with a 73.5% completion rate for 509 yards and 4 TD against 1 INT.

Over/Under

Bet UNDER 45.5 (-120) with Toronto making an uninspired QB change and these teams falling well shy of this number in Winnipeg’s 13-point victory last week.

Bombers RB Andrew Harris (calf) remained limited in practice through the week and the offense won’t be in top form until the MVP of the 2019 Grey Cup is back to full health.

Edmonton Elks at BC Lions odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Edmonton Elks at BC Lions matchup, with CFL odds, lines, picks, predictions and best bets.

The Edmonton Elks (0-2) visit the BC Lions (1-1) Thursday to open Week 3 in the CFL. Kickoff at BC Place is set for 10 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Elks vs. Lions odds and lines and make our best CFL picks, predictions and bets.

Edmonton will try its luck on the road for the first time this season after being upset 16-12 at home by the Ottawa RedBlacks in Week 1 and falling 30-13 to the Montreal Alouettes last week. The losses have come despite the Elks ranking second in yards per game for (371.0) and first in passing YPG against (141.0). QB Trevor Harris‘ 3 interceptions haven’t helped.

The Lions have a league-high 409.0 yards per game on offense as a banged up QB Michael Reilly has completed 75.4% of his passes for 545 yards and 1 touchdown against no interceptions. Backup Nathan Rourke threw for 194 yards and 2 TDs against 2 INTs in Week 1’s 33-29 shootout loss to the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

Elks at Lions odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Elks 27, Lions 22

Money line

Back the ELKS (+140) to get their first win of 2021 as underdogs for the first time.

Edmonton scored just 12 and 13 points in its first two games of the season, respectively, but should be able to find the end zone with more regularity against a BC team that allowed a league-high 33 points to the Roughriders in Week 1. Harris has thrown for a league-high 566 yards through two games but has been lucky with untimely interceptions.

Elks RB James Wilder is also the league rushing leader with 174 yards on the ground and that balanced attack just needs the defense to be adequate against the Lions with Reilly (elbow) listed as questionable once again.

Against the spread

The half-point hook on this line is enough insurance to back the ELKS +3.5 (-120) with a 3-point cushion in the event of a loss.

Along with Reilly being questionable for the Lions, RB James Butler (ankle) was ruled out Wednesday. He’s his team’s leading rusher, albeit in a balanced ground attack.

Over/Under

The Under has been the dominant trend in the CFL through two weeks but the opening line of Week 3 seems to have overcorrected in a matchup of two teams who’ve already allowed 30 or more points in a game this season.

Back the OVER 46.5 (-120) regardless of who’s under center for the Lions.

Hamilton Tiger-Cats at Saskatchewan Roughriders odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Hamilton Tiger-Cats at Saskatchewan Roughriders matchup, with CFL odds, lines, picks, predictions and best bets.

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats (0-1) visit the Saskatchewan Roughriders (1-0) for a 10 p.m. ET kickoff Saturday at Mosaic Stadium. Below, we look at the Tiger-Cats vs. Roughriders odds and lines and make our best CFL picks, predictions and bets.

The Tiger-Cats suffered a 19-6 road loss against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the 2021 CFL season opener Aug. 5. QB Jeremiah Masoli completed just 24 of 41 passes for 242 yards and 1 touchdown against 2 interceptions and contributed 26 of the team’s 55 total yards on the ground.

The Roughriders are playing their second straight home game to open the season after beating the BC Lions 33-29 last week. QB Cody Fajardo went 28-for-35 through the air for 230 yards and 2 TDs against 1 INT. RB William Powell led the team with 43 rushing yards and a touchdown. The Saskatchewan defense forced 2 interceptions from Lions QB Nathan Rourke.

Tiger-Cats at Roughriders odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Roughriders 25, Tiger-Cats 18

Money line

Back the ROUGHRIDERS (-140) as home favorites while seeking a second straight win. Saskatchewan posted a league-high 33 points in Week 1 while Hamilton struggled with a one-dimensional offense against Winnipeg in the season opener.

The home crowds make a difference in the West Division and the Tiger-Cats will enter another hostile environment on the road.

Against the spread

Roll with ROUGHRIDERS -2.5 (-120) as the more profitable bet on the home team should they win by at least 3 points.

Hamilton closed as a 1-point favorite in Winnipeg last week but took a 13-point loss. Saskatchewan failed to cover as a 6.5-point favorite in its opener but has a more conservative number to cover this week.

Over/Under

Take the UNDER 49.5 (-120) despite Saskatchewan’s high score last week. Hamilton has a much better defense than BC and we’ll need to see more from the Ti-Cats’ rushing attack before trusting them to handle their share of the combined point total.

Montreal Alouettes at Edmonton Elks odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Montreal Alouettes at Edmonton Elks matchup, with CFL odds, lines, picks, predictions and best bets.

The Montreal Alouettes (0-0) come off a Week 1 bye to visit the Edmonton Elks (0-1) Saturday night for a 7 p.m. ET kickoff at Commonwealth Stadium. Below, we look at the Alouettes at Elks odds and lines and make our best CFL picks, predictions and bets.

The Als will play their first game since going 10-8 and finishing second in the East Division in 2019. They lost 37-29 to Edmonton in the East Division Semifinal.

The Elks took a 16-12 loss at home against the Ottawa RedBlacks in Week 1. QB Trevor Harris completed 33 of 44 passes for 333 yards but with 3 interceptions and no touchdowns. RB James Wilder ran for 89 yards on 15 attempts and added 72 yards as a receiver.

Alouettes at Elks odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Alouettes 23, Elks 21

Money line

Back the ALOUETTES (+155) as heavy underdogs. They had an extra week of rest to start the season and were able to study some 2021 game film of the Elks. Edmonton was upset at home by the RedBlacks last week and shouldn’t be such heavy favorites in Week 2.

Expect a bounceback performance for Harris, but Alouettes QB Vernon Adams Jr. is coming off a breakout 2019 season and should give the Elks defense a tougher test than RedBlacks QB Matt Nichols imposed last week.

Against the spread

MONTREAL +3.5 (-115) can also be backed on the spread to stay within 3 points in a loss.

Edmonton failed to cover as a 7.5-point home favorite last week while taking the outright loss.

Over/Under

Take the UNDER 46.5 (-120) as the dominant trend in the CFL should continue.

Montreal’s defense has a week of film on Edmonton to plan around and the extra idle week isn’t likely to boost the offense. The Elks put up just 12 points last week.

Toronto Argonauts at Winnipeg Blue Bombers odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Friday’s Toronto Argonauts at Winnipeg Blue Bombers matchup, with CFL odds, lines, picks, predictions and best bets.

The Toronto Argonauts (1-0) visit the long-reigning Grey Cup champion Winnipeg Blue Bombers (1-0) Friday for an 8:30 p.m. ET kickoff at IG Field. Below, we look at the Argonauts at Blue Bombers odds and lines and make our best CFL picks, predictions and bets.

The Argonauts started the 2021 season with a 23-20 road upset of the Calgary Stampeders in Week 1. Argos QB McLeod Bethel-Thompson completed 26 of 37 passes for 354 yards and 2 touchdowns without an interception but Toronto combined for just 56 total rushing yards.

The Blue Bombers crushed the Hamilton Tiger-Cats 19-6 Aug. 5 in a 2019 Grey Cup rematch. QB Zach Collaros went 18-for-28 through the air for 217 yards and 2 touchdowns. RB Brady Oliveira ran for 126 yards on 22 carries with RB Andrew Harris sidelined by injury. Harris (calf) remains on the shelf for Week 2.

Argonauts at Blue Bombers odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Blue Bombers 24, Argonauts 21

Money line

The Blue Bombers (-300) should win with the benefit of home-field advantage, but we should PASS on the chalk-filled money line. A $10 bet would return a profit of just $3.33 and it’s a losing long-term strategy to bet such heavy favorites.

The Argos already pulled off a road upset last week and the Week 2 line should be much closer based on what we’ve seen from both teams thus far.

Against the spread

Hammer ARGONAUTS +6.5 (-115) as the best bet in this Friday night game. Far too much respect is being given to the reigning champs and not enough to a vastly improved Toronto side.

The lingering absence of Harris for Winnipeg is also being understated by this line. While Oliveira gashed the Ti-Cats on the ground last week, the Argos held the Stamps to a respectable 101 rushing yards in Week 1.

Over/Under

Add the UNDER 47.5 (-120) as a nice side play to the Argos’ spread.

Scoring is down across the CFL early in the 2021 season after a nearly two-year pause due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Thursday’s 15-9 BC Lions win over the Calgary Stampeders shows it could be more than a one-week trend.
