Penn State’s 2023 football commitment tracker

The Penn State football Class of 2023 commitment tracker has been updated with the latest recruiting development

The Class of 2022 was great for Penn State, but it’s already time to turn the page toward the Class of 2023. And James Franklin and the Nittany Lions already had a few commitments on the board for the Class of 2023 as the signed letters of intent were coming in for the Class of 2022.

We’ll be keeping track of every commitment that goes on the board for Penn State in the Class of 2023. But knowing that odds are pretty good at least one player will have a change of heart somewhere along the recruiting process, we’ll keep tabs on what they are doing up until signing day.

This tracker will be updated accordingly when needed. It was last updated on February 1, 2023.

Penn State football recruiting profile: RB Cameron Wallace

Penn State recruiting profile: RB Cameron Wallace joins the Class of 2023

After scoring a pair of stud running backs in the Class of 2022 with Nick Singleton and Kaytron Allen, Penn State added some good depth to the running back position in the Class of 2023 with the addition of [autotag]Cameron Wallace[/autotag]. Wallace is a three-star running back with plenty of athletic skill and potential to be a quality back in the backfield in the years to come, and he will have some time to develop and improve while providing Penn State with some depth.

Here is a snapshot look at one of the final pieces in Penn State’s Class of 2023 recruiting class.

Penn State adds Georgia RB to Class of 2022

Penn State adding three-star RB from Georgia to Class of 2023 haul

Penn State continues to put the finishing touches on its Class of 2022 in the days leading up to the beginning of the early signing period. On Monday evening, the Nittany Lions added a commitment from Georgia running back [autotag]Cameron Wallace[/autotag]. Wallace announced his commitment to the Penn State program on his Twitter account.

Wallace was visited by James Franklin and assistant coaches over the weekend as Penn State had emerged to be the favorite to beat out Georgia Tech for the Georgia recruit. Wallace is a three-star recruit according to 247Sports and On3. On3 also ranks him as the No,. 43 running back in the nation.

Wallace is coming off a senior high school season where he rushed for 1,221 yards and 13 touchdowns in 10 games. He also played defense but it is at the running back position where Penn State will use him to add depth to the roster behind Nick Singleton and Kaytron Allen in 2023.

Penn State’s Class of 2023 is currently ranked No. 12 in the latest 247Sports composite rankings. The early signing period will open on Wednesday, December 21 and close on Friday, December 23. It is expected Wallace will be among the majority of the recruiting class signing a national letter of intent on Wednesday.

Penn State will face Pac-12 champion Utah in the Rose Bowl on January 2, 2023.

James Franklin visits running back target in Georgia

James Franklin and his assistants made some key recruiting stops in the South on Wednesday.

College football’s early signing period opens next week, and James Franklin and the Penn State coaches are making the final sales pitches to recruiting targets to come to Penn State. As Franklin continues to work the south for talent to come north and play for the Nittany Lions, a recruiting stop in Georgia was on the agenda as he looks to secure a commitment for another running back in the Class of 2023.

Cameron Wallace, a three-star running back from Mount Vernon, Georgia, shared a photo on his Twitter account where he is posing with James Franklin, running backs coach and co-offensive coordinator Ja’Juan Seider, and safeties coach and co-defensive coordinator Anthony Poindexter, along with his high school football coach. The visit took place Wednesday morning as Franklin and his staff were making some key recruiting visits down south.

Wallace visited Penn State in November and the Nittany Lions appear to be the favorite to secure his commitment in the Class of 2023. There are no crystal ball picks on record on 247Sports, but the On3 prediction machine calculates Penn State having a 93.6% chance of receiving his commitment. Georgia Tech is the second-most likely option for the in-state recruit in Georgia, but this one appears to be trending in Penn State’s direction quite favorably.

That was just one visit on the schedule for Franklin and his staff on Wednesday, however. Later in the day, Franklin and his assistants made their way down to Selma, Alabama to check in on one of Penn State’s top commitments in the current recruiting class, safety [autotag]Da’Kaari Nelson[/autotag].

The early signing period opens on December 21 and closes on December 23. It is expected Nelson and the vast majority of Penn State’s Class of 2023, including Nelson, will be signed in that time. And with a little luck, maybe Penn State will have one more commitment from Wallace to add to the stockpile.

Resetting Michigan State football’s RB recruiting board

Check out what Michigan State’s running back board might look like as the early signing period approaches:

Michigan State lost a huge commitment in the form of Kedrick Reescano yesterday. The longtime 4-star commit was a focal point of the class, and now the Spartan coaching staff will be forced to replace him.

There are still a lot of viable options for the Spartans to consider and running backs coach Effrem Reed will look to secure some of those options before the December early signing period.

Michigan State will look to take two running backs in this class, so expect a lot of heat to be turned up on this list:
