Five-star shooting guard Cam Scott sets commitment date

The five-star prospect is down to Auburn, Alabama, Oregon, Texas, Ole Miss and South Carolina.

[autotag]Cam Scott[/autotag] is one of the top players in the 2024 recruiting class, and he is ready to announce his commitment. The five-star shooting guard revealed his top six schools and set a decision date of Aug. 11 at 1 p.m. CT. He plans to commit live on On3’s YouTube Channel.

As expected, [autotag]Bruce Pearl[/autotag] and the Auburn Tigers made the cut and will battle Alabama, Oregon, Texas, Ole Miss and South Carolina for Scott.

The Lexington, South Carolina, native has taken several trips to the Plains, including an official visit on Nov. 11, 2022. He has had great things to say about Auburn, admitting he was impressed with the environment.

“I love Auburn,” Scott told On3’s Brian Shaw in April. “I’m not even going to lie to you. Being down there, it was a really comfortable environment. Talking with the coaches, they’re all friendly. Some of the players getting recruited by them are already hitting me up, guys who are already committed, telling me Auburn is the place.”

“I get probably three of four DMs a day telling me to go to Auburn.”

Scott is the No. 24 overall player and No. 5 shooting guard in the 2024 recruiting class. The 6-foot-5, 165-pounder is also the No. 1 player from South Carolina.

Auburn has already landed one five-star guard in the 2024 class, point guard [autotag]Tadaad Pettiford[/autotag]. He is the No. 2 point guard in the class.

If Auburn can land both, it will be the first time the Tigers have signed two five-star prospects in the same class, and they would become the second- and sixth-highest-rated signees in program history.

Auburn target Cam Scott gives update on recruiting process

Auburn target Cam Scott shares a recruiting update with On3’s Jamie Shaw.

[autotag]Cam Scott[/autotag], a 6-foot-5 shooting guard, is the No. 19 player in the class of 2024 according to On3. In an interview with Jamie Shaw of On3, Scott updated his recruitment.

Scott has taken four official visits. Other than Auburn, Scott has visited Oregon, South Carolina and Texas.

“I took early visits to Texas, Auburn and South Carolina,” Scott said. “They are all three absolutely still involved in my recruitment. My family and I have talked about revisiting those schools. However, there is only a certain amount of free time I have between now and when I commit, we are trying to see when and if we can fit anything in.”

Scott specifically talked about Auburn as well.

“Since the visit, I’ve been able to build my connection with the players. I already had a connection with the coaches and Coach (Bruce) Pearl when I went on the visit. Now I’m just building with some of the guys who are already there.”

There is plenty of competition for Scott’s commitment.

“I’ve got a visit scheduled to Ole Miss on Sept. 30,” Scott said. “We’re in the process of planning an Alabama visit soon too. Southern California recently offered as well, and they are talking about a visit. We are trying to see if we can fit one in with the time frame.”

Scott also elaborated on when a commitment can be expected.

“I don’t have a top group, and I probably won’t narrow my recruitment down at all before I pick a school,” Scott said. “I don’t have an exact date yet, but I’d like to commit before school ball starts. Sometime between Peach Jam and school ball starting.

“I want to go somewhere I can just zone out and get better. For me, player development is going to be big. I’ll be going into an entirely different playing field, so being able to just focus on myself and get better. I can see myself playing in most any system, I’m going to pick a school where I can best showcase my talent and feel comfortable.”

Auburn has one commit for the 2024 class, five-star guard [autotag]Tahaad Pettiford[/autotag]. Auburn is still in the hunt for [autotag]Labaron Philon[/autotag], although he recently decommitted from the program.

Top-30 SG Cam Scott schedules official visit to Oregon

Dana Altman and the Oregon Ducks will receive an official visit from 4-star SG Cam Scott early this summer.

While the on-court product has been a bit frustrating to watch over the past couple of seasons, Dana Altman’s recruiting prowess has remained as good as ever.

With a top-10 class signed in the 2023 cycle, Altman is making a strong push in the 2024 cycle with some of the top recruits on the board. The latest player Oregon has zeroed in on is 4-star shooting guard Cam Scott, a 6-foot-5 athlete from Lexington, Kentucky who is rated as the No. 28 overall player and No. 5 SG in the 2024 class, per the 247Sports Composite.

Scott recently announced that he will be taking an official visit to Eugene on June 1st to check out the Ducks and see if he wants to have a future with Oregon.

The Ducks don’t yet have any commitments in the class of 2024, but several visits have already taken place, and will continue to take place over the coming months.

Report: Auburn basketball to host two elite visitors this weekend

Auburn will be hosting five-star center Flory Bidunga and four-star shooting guard Cam Scott this weekend.

[autotag]Bruce Pearl[/autotag] and Co. will be hosting two important official visitors this weekend.

Five-star center [autotag]Flory Bidunga[/autotag] and four-star shooting guard [autotag]Cam Scott[/autotag] are reportedly taking official visits to the  Plains this weekened according to Jeffrey Lee of On3.

Both of them are members of the 2024 recruiting class and are key targets.

Bidunga is ranked as the No. 3 overall player and No. 1 center in the On3 Consensus ranking. The 6-foot-9, 220-pound center is from Kokomo, Indiana.

He is a great shot blocker and athlete who is working on improving the range of his jump shot but is already a good finisher.

Scott is ranked as the No. 23 overall player and No. 5 shooting guard in the On3 Consensus ranking. He is from Lexington, South Carolina.

The 6-foot-6, 175-pounder has plenty of length and is an efficient scorer who operates well in an offense.

Scott talked with On3’s Jamie Shaw in October and discusses his recruitment by Pearl.

It really has to do with their coach. He is a very high level coach and just watching how he’s put people into place and just getting them to the next level. He says he likes my build. It’s like Jabari Smith, a long and athletic build. It’s something where he likes the shooters too. So he likes being able to get up and down the floor and get quick shots.

Auburn is still looking for its first commitment in the 2024 recruiting class.

Four star guard Cam Scott talks Auburn, recruiting

South Carolina’s No. 1 prospect from the 2024 cycle recently received a visit from Bruce Pearl.

Auburn Basketball and head coach [autotag]Bruce Pearl[/autotag] are always finding ways to improve, even if it means getting a jump start in recruiting.

The target that is getting the most buzz recently is [autotag]Cam Scott[/autotag], a four-star guard from Lexington, South Carolina. Scott is still in the early stages of his recruitment but has fielded from a handful of programs including Auburn.

Pearl recently traveled to South Carolina to talk with Scott, and Scott is planning to return the favor by visiting Auburn unofficially on Nov. 11. Scott recently shared his thoughts on Auburn with On3’s Jamie Shaw, he says that Pearl has compared him to a recent Auburn star.

“It really has to do with their coach. He is a very high level coach and just watching how he’s put people into place and just getting them to the next level. (Pearl) says he likes my build. It’s like Jabari Smith, a long and athletic build. It’s something where he likes the shooters too. So he likes being able to get up and down the floor and get quick shots.”

It appears that Scott is interested in Duke, Florida State, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas in addition to Auburn. What is the biggest factor in choosing a school? Somewhere that he can gain a full college experience in a home-like environment.

“I want to go somewhere I can feel comfortable, where I can get better every day, but still be able to have my fun when I need it,” Scott said. “I want to go somewhere where I can keep everything easy, off my mind and I can just go in and work every day.”

Looking at Auburn’s recent commits, the Tigers have one pledge so far in [autotag]Aden Holloway[/autotag]. Holloway is a four-star point guard from Napa, California, and is ranked No. 28 in the 2023 recruting cycle.

Bruce Pearl set to visit top 2024 prospect this week

Pearl will pay a visit to the state of South Carolina’s top 2024 prospect this Thursday.

Auburn head coach [autotag]Bruce Pearl[/autotag] is looking to get a head start on his recruiting efforts within the 2024 recruiting cycle.

On3’s Jamie Shaw has reported that Pearl will visit four-star shooting guard [autotag]Cam Scott[/autotag] this week, one day after new Duke head coach Jon Scheyer is expected to visit.

The 6-foot-5 guard from Lexington High School in South Carolina is a “lengthy wing prospect with a lot of pop” according to On3.

The natural tools are very impressive all the way around. Scott has a mature game, plays within the flow of the offense, and rarely forces things. The jump shot release can be cleaned up, but the pull-up is smooth. Since the summer, Scott has developed his footwork and handle in the half-court, creating space to elevate into his jumper. Scott can take over a game and carry his team. I would like to see him develop the comfort to take a more aggressive alpha role on his teams. He is very efficient in his game, and his ability to score with a less is more approach is mature. Strength will come, and he is tracking as one of the top players in the 2024 class.

Scott is set to return the favor by taking one of his four scheduled official visits to Auburn on Nov. 11. He has already visited Duke, and will visit South Carolina and Texas prior to his trip to the Plains.

Scott is the nation’s No. 14 overall prospect for the 2024 cycle according to On3, and is the No. 1 overall recruit from the state of South Carolina for the class.

Five-star recruit was left ‘speechless’ by UNC offer

A five-star shooting guard was left speechless by an offer from the UNC Basketball program and hopes to visit soon.

Hubert Davis and his UNC basketball staff are prioritizing recruits in the 2024 class, setting up their big board in hopes of landing some top talent.

And one recruit they have their eyes on is five-star shooting guard [autotag]Cam Scott[/autotag].

The Lexington, South Carolina native is a top 25 player in the 247Sports rankings and has 14 offers so far. The Tar Heels offered him weeks back and are a team that is prioritizing him in his recruitment so far.

Following a good showing at the Nike Peach Jam this month, Scott talked to Travis Branham of 247Sports to update his recruitment. And in the interview, he revealed something awesome about his reaction to the UNC offer:

North Carolina: “They’re more in contact with my parents and they have a good relationship. They just want me to come there and they see a great player in myself and I got a confidence boost in that. I had a big smile on my face and was speechless for a minute [when he got the offer]. I didn’t really know what to say. It didn’t feel real in the moment.”

The 6-foot-5, 165-pound Scott would be an ideal fit for the Tar Heels and the system they run. UNC does need some help on the perimeter for future classes and landing a player like Scott would be a great start.

Scott has a few visits set up already and he told Branham that he is hoping to get to UNC for an official visit soon.

Analyst says this UNC target’s recruitment is ‘wide open’

The recruitment for this five-star shooting guard and UNC basketball target Cam Scott is wide open per an analyst.

The 2024 recruiting board is starting to take shape for Hubert Davis and the UNC basketball program here in July. The program has a few offers out to prospects and they have their eyes on a few more as well.

One prospect that has an offer from North Carolina is five-star shooting guard [autotag]Cam Scott[/autotag].

The Lexington, South Carolina native is a top 25 prospect per 247Sports and has a total of 14 offers in his recruitment so far. Programs like UNC, Oregon Clemson and Florida State are showing a lot of interest so far and he currently has visits scheduled to the Ducks and Seminoles.

But where do things stand? Pro Insight’s Andrew Slater tweeted about Scott and said that this recruitment is ‘wide open’ right now:

Scott is becoming a priority recruit for a lot of programs, including UNC which could use more help on the wing.  The 6-foot-5, 165-pound shooting guard continues to elevate his game and that means his stock is on the rise even more.

Hubert Davis watches 2024 teammates and key UNC targets at Peach Jam

Hubert Davis and assistant coach Jeff Lebo were on hand to watch five-star 2024 prospects Cam Scott and Jarin Stevenson on Wednesday.

The UNC basketball program has three members of its staff at the Peach Jam live evaluation period in South Carolina this week, which began on Wednesday.

The first stop for the UNC staff was for newly offered 2023 four-star forward TJ Power. Power had 16 points and nine rebounds in front of Hubert Davis, Jeff Lebo and Sean May.

Davis, along with Lebo then turned their attention to two key 2024 targets — both with offers — in [autotag]Cam Scott[/autotag] and [autotag]Jarin Stevenson[/autotag]. Both play for the 16U Team United roster.

Scott, a 6-foot-5 guard, is a five-star prospect in the 247Sports Composite Rankings. He already has a strong relationship with UNC and has been on campus a few times for unofficial visits up to this point.

He holds offers from North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida State, Clemson, LSU, Georgia, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Texas Tech and more.

Stevenson is a 6-foot-8 forward who is ranked No. 16 in the 247Sports Composite Rankings and is also a five-star prospect.

He has a total of 3 offers so far, landing them from UNC, NC State, and Wake Forest. However, he does have other programs showing interest in him such as Florida State and Virginia.

Stevenson has already been labeled as a standout this week at Peach Jam from 247Sports national recruiting director Eric Bossi.

Both recruitments are ones that the UNC staff are heavily involved in and have been for quite some time already.

Both prospects should be visiting North Carolina this fall.
