Texas lands five-star guard Cam Scott

The Longhorns were able to land one of the top players in the country.

The five-stars are coming in bunches for Texas athletics as a day after the football team landed five-star EDGE Colin Simmons, the basketball team answered with one of their own.

On Friday, five-star shooting guard Cam Scott announced his commitment to Rodney Terry and Texas. The No. 23 ranked player in the class is a product of South Carolina, and chose the Longhorns over programs like Oregon, Alabama, North Carolina, and Miami among others.

He marks the first commitment for Texas in their 2024 class, and has boosted the class to the No. 21 class in the country. He skillset was broken down by 247Sports Director of Scouting Adam Finkelstein as “a versatile and smooth big guard” who’s “naturally unselfish” and “a very willing ball-mover” while proving himself to be “extremely fluid with the ball in the open court” and possessing “definite playmaking ability.”

Terry continues to keep the program headed in the right direction after being appointed as the head coach.
