Buffalo vs Miami University Game Preview

Why Miami University Will Win

Just when it seemed like Miami University was going to sputter and struggle with a rough passing game, not enough from the pass defense, and a road game at Northwestern ahead …

17-14. the RedHawks came up with a whale of a performance against the run, was +2 in turnover margin, and it all should work against the Bulls.

Buffalo doesn’t force takeaways – outside of the four in the loss to Coastal Carolina – and the ground game that hit Northwestern for over 200 yards should take over.

But …

NFL Expert Picks, Week 4

Why Buffalo Will Win

The Bulls are balanced enough offensively to give Miami some problems.

They desperately needed a win, and they got it at Eastern Michigan with close to 300 passing yards and just over 200 on the ground in the 50-31 win.

The key part to their style so far, though, is the turnover battle.

UB gave away four turnovers in the loss to Coastal Carolina, and that’s been it. It didn’t lose the ball in any of the other there games, penalties aren’t an issue, and if the offense can get going, Miami University might not be able to keep up.

What’s Going To Happen

Can Miami keep the score low and control the game?

It’s not doing much in the backfield from the defensive front, and it’s having a hard time getting the passing game going. It’ll do just enough – RedHawks will be efficient to go along with the running game.

Buffalo doesn’t generate a pass rush, either, and it’s going to have a tough time getting the D off the field.

All of the CFN Fearless Predictions

Buffalo vs Miami University Game Preview

Why Buffalo Will Win

The Buffalo run defense is but a mere rumor.

From home run touchdown dashes from Ohio, to getting hammered by Bowling Green and Akron for over 220 yards each, to the Kent State FlashFast style of offense, everyone is getting fat on this front wall.

How bad is this? The Bulls are 113th in the nation against the run allowing an average of 200 yards per game.

Can Miami take advantage of opportunity? Not really.

The RedHawks wouldn’t might running, but it only came up with 200 yards twice this year and once was against LIU of the FCS world.

On the other side, the Bulls are rolling with close to 500 yards in three of the last four games with a great balance, a lot of explosion, and …

College Football Expert Picks, CFN Week 11

Why Miami University Will Win

The Miami offense is about to throw a whole lot.

Teams are used to running the ball at will on the Buffalo D, but that’s not really what the RedHawks do.

Brett Gabbert is coming off a 492-yard passing day with five scores against Ohio, the O has hit over 200 yards through the air against everyone but Cincinnati, and the Buffalo secondary can be thrown on.

Gabbert will get time – the Miami offensive line has been fantastic at keeping defenses out of the backfield.

Teams are usually too busy running the ball on the UB D and don’t bother with throwing, but getting past 200 yards isn’t going to be a problem.

What’s Going To Happen

Neither defense is doing anything to take the ball away, both teams are coming off of embarrassing losses – Miami lost to Ohio and Buffalo somehow managed to lose to Bowling Green – and now it’s do-or-die time for any hopes of going bowling.

And Miami University is still in the MAC East title chase.

MU will get the running game going for the first time in a while, and the passing attack will work, too. The RedHawk defense will step up against the run, but Buffalo will throw well enough to stay in this. It won’t be enough.

It’s going to be surprisingly fun because neither side will stop the other. Miami will stop Buffalo more.

Why Miami University Will Win

The defending MAC champs continue to be one of those Find A Way teams, but now it has more of an offense to help the cause.

AJ Mayer has taken over the quarterbacking gig, and he pitched a gem in the 38-31 win over Ball State, leading the way to 28 second half points in the late rally. He finished with 212 yards and three touchdowns, the running game did just enough to get by, and again, there was actually a Miami offense to worry about after so many struggling performances last year.

Even bigger was a huge day from a defensive front that lived in the Ball State backfield. The combination of Lonnie Phelps and Dominique Robinson combined for four of the team’s six sacks, there were enough big stops late to survive, and …

Why Buffalo Will Win

Buffalo’s offensive line is a rock.

The defense might have struggled with the Northern Illinois passing game in last week’s 49-30 win, but most of the yards came late after UB had already pulled away.

There wasn’t any pressure allowed in the backfield, Jaret Patterson was Jaret Patterson with 137 yards and two scores, and the offense was brutally efficient.

The five takeaways helped.

All the way around, this is the most talented team in the MAC, but …

What’s Going To Happen

That didn’t matter much in last year’s 34-20 loss to the RedHawks.

Miami has been a thorn in UB’s side in three of the last four seasons, but this year it’s in Amherst, and now there’s a real revenge factor in play.

Miami will seem like it has the ball for three hours, because it probably will – more like around 35 minutes – but that’s also because Buffalo will be just that explosive. Both teams will turn it loose into the backfield, but the Bulls will do a little more, and they’ll have a running game, the RedHawks won’t.
