Flyers at Sabres projected goalies

Samuel Ersson (3-0-0, 2.90 GAA, .905 SV%) vs. Craig Anderson (7-5-1, 2.61 GAA, .923 SV%, 1 SO)

The rookie Ersson turned aside 28 of the 29 shots he faced in Anaheim last time out last Monday. He has won each of his past 3 starts — his first victories in the NHL — and has allowed 3 or fewer goals in each of those outings.

Anderson allowed just 2 goals on 32 shots in Ottawa on New Year’s Day against his former organization. He has allowed 3 or fewer goals in each of the past 3 starts, and 6 of his past 8 outings overall.

Flyers at Sabres picks and predictions

Prediction

Sabres 5, Flyers 3

Moneyline

The Sabres (-220) will cost you over 2 times your potential return, and that’s just too expensive for a standalone wager despite that Buffalo has more than a good chance of topping the ice-cold Flyers.

PASS.

Puck line/Against the spread

The SABRES -1.5 (+110) are a much better value on the puck line. This does come with some risk, however. Buffalo is 8-1 across the past 9 games, but each of the past 3 victories was by just 1 goal in overtime.

The Flyers are just 14-42 in the past 56 games on the road, and 17-35 in the past 52 against the Atlantic Division. Plus, Philly just played Sunday and is 13-39 in the past 52 games when playing on no rest.

Over/Under

OVER 6.5 (-120) might be the best play on the board.

The Over has cashed in 7 of the past 9 games overall for the Flyers while going 3-0-1 in the past 4 in the second end of a back-to-back. The Over is also 5-0 in the past 5 against Eastern Conference foes for Philly.

The Over is 5-1-1 in the past 7 games at home for the Sabres, too, while cashing at a 20-7-1 clip in the past 28 against Metropolitan Division foes. The Over has also hit in 4 straight meetings between these teams in Buffalo.

Buffalo Sabres at Boston Bruins odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Buffalo Sabres at Boston Bruins odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Buffalo Sabres (17-14-2) visit the Boston Bruins (28-4-3) Saturday in a divisional matchup. Face-off from TD Garden is set for 1 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Sabres vs. Bruins odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

The Sabres are riding hot on a 5-game win streak that includes a 6-3 win in their last game vs. Detroit Thursday. That win came at the hands of RW Kyle Okposo and his hat trick that included 2 goals during the team’s 4-goal second period.

The Bruins are coming off a 3-1 win vs. New Jersey Wednesday night that came just 5 days after beating that same New Jersey team. It was the defense and goaltending in that game that impressed for the Bruins as G Linus Ullmark posted 30 saves on an SV% of .968.

Sabres at Bruins odds

  • Moneyline (ML): Sabres +210 (bet $100 to win $210) | Bruins -250 (bet $250 to win $100)
  • Puck line (PL)/Against the spread (ATS): Sabres +1.5 (-120) | Bruins -1.5 (+100)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 6.5 (O: -115 | U: -105)

Sabres at Bruins projected goalies

Craig Anderson (7-4-1, 2.65 GAA, .922 SV%, 1 SO) vs. Linus Ullmark (20-1-1, 1.90 GAA, .938 SV%, 2 SO)

The 41-year-old veteran is expected to receive the start between the pipes Saturday. He was solid in a 3-1 loss to Boston earlier this year with 27 saves on 30 shots. He’s 2-0-1 with a 1.99 GAA and .942 SV% in 3 starts this month.

Ullmark has shown no signs of slowing down as he’s 7-0-1 with a 1.72 GAA and .943 SV% this month. He hasn’t faced the Sabres this year, but it’s all the same to the frontrunner for the Vezina trophy.

Sabres at Bruins picks and predictions

Prediction

Bruins 4, Sabres 2

Moneyline

AVOID.

The Sabres are hot right now, but the Bruins are simply the better team. This is the second of the 4-game season series between these teams, and I see the Bruins winning the series 3-1, including a win in this one. And while I am confident in the Bruins, the moneyline is just a bit too strong for me to advise you to risk your money on this bet when there are better ones on the board.

Puck line/Against the spread

BET BRUINS -1.5 (+100).

The Bruins will end the Sabres’ win streak and will likely do so by 2 or more goals. As of late, the Bruins have shown their poise by winning close games. But this is a game that if the Bruins let the Sabres get close and stay in it for too long, they could lose. The Bruins will need to come out of the gates hot and not stop that momentum throughout the game. If they do that then this will be your best bet for this game.

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 6.5 (-105).

Boston won the last matchup Nov. 12 by a 3-1 score. Buffalo’s offense has been producing as they have been averaging 5 goals per game over their 5-game winning streak, but none of those wins came against Boston. The Bruins are a top team in the NHL, and that is largely due to their defense, as their offense doesn’t need to put up so many goals. The Under here is safer but with 2 good teams there is always a risk that the Over will be eclipsed.

Buffalo Sabres at Vegas Golden Knights odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Buffalo Sabres at Vegas Golden Knights odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Buffalo Sabres (15-14-2) wrap up a 3-game road trip Monday against the Vegas Golden Knights (22-10-1) at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Puck drop is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Sabres vs. Golden Knights odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

The Sabres have won 3 in a row, including a 4-2 victory Thursday at the  Colorado Avalanche to kick off the road trip. The Over in Saturday’s 5-2 win  at Arizona snapped a 3-0 Under run for the Sabres.

The Golden Knights were humbled 5-2 at home against the New York Islanders last time out Saturday, snapping a modest 2-game win streak. Vegas has been struck in neutral lately, going 6-6-0 in the last 12 games.

Sabres at Golden Knights projected goalies

Ukko-Pekko Lukkoken (4-3-1, 3.62 GAA, .880 SV%) vs. Logan Thompson (14-8-0, 2.64 GAA, .917 SV%, 2 SO)

The Finn turned aside 39 of the 41 shots he faced in a 4-2 win Thursday in Colorado. He has won 3 of his last 4 starts, although he has conceded 3 or more goals in 5 of his last 6 starts.

Thompson was dinged for 3 goals on 24 shots Saturday against the New York Islanders in a loss, and he has dropped 3 of his last 4 starts, while going just 2-4-0 with a 3.17 GAA and .906 SV% in 6 December starts.

Sabres at Golden Knights picks and predictions

Prediction

Sabres 4, Golden Knights 3

Moneyline

The SABRES (+155) are worth a roll of the dice on the road as moderate favorites.

Buffalo will also have revenge on its mind after the Golden Knights (-180) tuned up the Sabres 7-4 on Nov. 10 in Western New York. Jack Eichel, public enemy No. 1 in Buffalo, had a hat trick in that game, but he is on the injured reserve list for this game.

Puck line/Against the spread

The Sabres +1.5 (-180) is a little on the pricey side, so if you like Buffalo, just take it straight up. This comes with some heavy risk, though, as the Sabres have never won in Vegas (0-4).

PASS.

Over/Under

OVER 6.5 (-115) has dominated lately for the Sabres, going 5-2 in the last 7 games on the road, while cashing at a 6-2 clip in the last 8 games against Western Conference foes.

The Under has dominated lately for the Golden Knights, but the Over is 4-0 in the last 4 for Vegas when its opponent allows 2 or fewer goals in the previous outing.

Buffalo Sabres at Colorado Avalanche odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Buffalo Sabres at Colorado Avalanche odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Buffalo Sabres (13-14-2) and Colorado Avalanche (15-10-2) meet Thursday at Ball Arena in Denver. Puck drop is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Sabres vs. Avalanche odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

The Sabres are coming off a 6-0 victory against the Los Angeles Kings Tuesday behind G Craig Anderson. Buffalo has racked up 4 or more goals in 8 of the past 11 outings, including a 6-4 loss at home to the Avalanche on Dec. 1.

The Avalanche scored 3 power-play goals in that 6-4 win in Buffalo, with G Alexandar Georgiev making 24 saves on 28 shots in the victory. However, Colorado has been struggling lately with just 11 goals across the 6 outings since that 6-goal explosion in Buffalo.

Sabres at Avalanche projected goalies

Craig Anderson (6-4-1, 2.71 GAA, .921 SV%, 1 SO) vs. Alexandar Georgiev (11-5-2, 2.65 GAA, .920 SV%, 1 SO)

Anderson scored his 1st shutout of the season against the Kings Tuesday and now he gets a crack at the Avalanche. The veteran Sabres backstop hasn’t won consecutive starts since winning his first 3 starts of the season between Oct. 13-29.

Georgiev allowed just 1 goal on 29 shots in a 2-1 shootout loss against the New York Rangers Friday, snapping a string of 4 straight starts with 4 or more goals allowed. He is 0-2-1 in his previous 3 starts since his last win Dec. 1.

Sabres at Avalanche picks and predictions

Prediction

Avalanche 4, Sabres 2

Moneyline

The AVALANCHE (-180) is right at my personal limit for a standalone moneyline play, but Colorado is the play based on its dominance in this series over the years.

The Avs have won 9 of the past 10 meetings in Denver, while going 21-6 in the previous 27 meetings in this series — including Dec. 1 in Buffalo.

Puck line/Against the spread

The AVALANCHE -1.5 (+130) are worth a roll of the dice on the puck line, as Colorado lit the lamp 6 times in the first meeting between these teams. While the Avs will be facing Anderson, coming off a shutout, instead of G Ukko Pekka Luukkonen, the results will be the same.

Over/Under

UNDER 6.5 (+105) is the lean here.

While all of the trends point to the Over for the Sabres, the Under has cashed in 4 in a row for the Avalanche and gone 4-0 in their past 4 games at home. The Under is 7-2-1 in the past 10 games against Eastern Conference foes for the Avs, too.

This won’t be a defensive slog, but it won’t go over 7 total goals, either.

Buffalo Sabres at Montreal Canadiens odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Buffalo Sabres at Montreal Canadiens odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Buffalo Sabres (7-11-0) and Montreal Canadiens (9-8-1) meet Tuesday at Bell Centre. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET (NHL Network). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Sabres vs. Canadiens odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

The Sabres are looking to slap the brakes on an 8-game losing skid dating back to Nov. 4. Buffalo lost 5-2 last time out in Toronto Saturday, and has been outscored 38-19 during the skid.

The Canadiens posted a 5-4 shootout win against the Philadelphia Flyers last time out on Saturday. While the Habs are just 4-3-0 across the past 7 outings, the offense has not been the problem, averaging 3.6 goals per game during the stretch.

Sabres at Canadiens projected goalies

Craig Anderson (3-3-0, 2.82 GAA, .910 SV%) vs. Jake Allen (6-6-0, 3.33 GAA, .898 SV%)

Anderson came on in relief against his former team — the Ottawa Senators — on the road Wednesday, allowing just 1 goal on 15 shots. However, he is having a rough November, going 0-3-0 with a 3.84 GAA and .881 SV% in 3 starts and 1 relief appearance in the month.

Allen has been dinged for 4 goals in each of his past 3 starts, and he has a 3-3-0 record, 3.80 GAA and .888 SV% across 6 starts in November.

Sabres at Canadiens picks and predictions

Prediction

Canadiens 4, Sabres 3

Moneyline

The CANADIENS (-115) are worth a play, mainly because the Sabres have been struggling so badly and showing no signs of life.

Buffalo has allowed 4 or more goals in 3 games in a row, and in 7 of the 8 losses on its skid, and it’s struggled to light the lamp for itself. The Sabres are averaging just 2.2 goals per game during the past 6, which is well below the team’s season average of 3.4 GPG, which ranks 9th in the league.

Puck line/Against the spread

There is no puck line available in this game at the time of publishing, as the line is listed as a pick ’em.

AVOID.

Over/Under

OVER 6.5 (-120) is the lean here.

The Over is 8-3 in the past 11 games overall for the Sabres while cashing at a 5-2 clip in their last 7 games against Eastern Conference foes.

The Over has cashed at a 4-1 clip in the past 5 games for the Canadiens, while going 4-1 in the past 5 at home, too.

Buffalo Sabres at Carolina Hurricanes odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Buffalo Sabres at Carolina Hurricanes odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Buffalo Sabres (7-3-0) and Carolina Hurricanes (7-2-1) meet Friday at PNC Arena in Raleigh, N.C. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET (ESPN+/Hulu). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Sabres vs. Hurricanes odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

The Sabres have been an offensive powerhouse during their 3-game win streak. They topped the Chicago Blackhawks, Detroit Red Wings and Pittsburgh Penguins by a combined score of 18-9 and covered the puck line in the past 2 outings. To no one’s surprise, the Over is 3-0 during the run.

The Hurricanes played a seesaw affair on the road against the Tampa Bay Lightning Thursday, eventually winning 4-3 in a shootout.

This will be the 2nd back-to-back situation of the season for the Canes. They won 4-3 in OT at the Philadelphia Flyers Oct. 29 after getting demolished by the New York Islanders in the front end of the set in their first back-to-back.

Sabres at Hurricanes projected goalies

Craig Anderson (3-0-0, 1.66 GAA, .946 SV%) vs. Antti Raanta (2-0-1, 2.23 GAA, .913 SV%)

The 41-year-old veteran Anderson is reinventing himself in western New York after a few dismal years from 2017-20 in Ottawa. He is looking like the goaltender he was in the prime of his career back in the early 2010s.

Raanta is technically the backup in Raleigh, but he is more of a 1A option to Frederik Andersen. He can easily be a starter for most teams in the NHL and combined with Andersen to win the Jennings trophy in 2021-22 after allowing a league-low 202 goals.

Raanta is off to a tremendous start this season, too, allowing 3 or fewer goals in each of his 3 outings. This will be his first start of the season in front of the home fans.

Sabres at Hurricanes picks and predictions

Prediction

Hurricanes 4, Sabres 2

Moneyline

The Hurricanes (-200) have a quick turnaround after an emotionally draining game in Tampa, and the Sabres have been playing very good hockey. This is a dangerous spot to bet the favourite, especially at 2 times your potential return.

PASS.

Puck line/Against the spread

The HURRICANES -1.5 (+115) are a better value on the puck line, although the Sabres have been skating with their hair on fire lately, scoring goals at will. This won’t be easy, and likely will come down to an empty-net goal late to tip the scales in your favor.

Over/Under

UNDER 6.5 (-105) is the play based on the outstanding play of both Anderson and Raanta.

These goalies are going to see a lot of rubber headed their way, as the Canes average 38.1 shots on goal (SOG) per game, while the Sabres are good for 33.1 SOG per outing. However, while there will be plenty of shots, expect both goalies to be equal to the task, keeping this game just under the total.

Pittsburgh Penguins at Buffalo Sabres odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Pittsburgh Penguins at Buffalo Sabres odds and lines, with NHL expert picks and predictions.

The Pittsburgh Penguins (4-4-2) and Buffalo Sabres (6-3-0) meet Wednesday. The opening faceoff at KeyBank Center is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET (TNT). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Penguins vs. Sabres odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

Pittsburgh suffered a 6-5 overtime loss against the visiting Boston Bruins Tuesday. The Penguins are 0-4-1 in their last 5 games since starting the season 4-0-1. Defense and goaltending have been problems: the Pens have allowed 4.80 goals per game over that losing skid.

The Sabres routed the Detroit Red Wings 8-3 Monday and are 2-1-0 so far on a 4-game homestand ending with this contest. Buffalo has top-10 scoring averages at both ends of the ice, scoring 4.1 goals per game (2nd) and allowing just 2.8 goals per game (10th).

Penguins at Sabres projected goalies

Casey DeSmith (0-2-1, 2.97 GAA, .913 SV%) vs. Craig Anderson (3-0-0,  1.66 GAA, .946 SV%)

DeSmith is making his 4th start of the season. He’s a 5-year NHL veteran who has found significantly more success at home (.925 SV% career) and in the latter months of the season.

Anderson is off to a terrific start. G Eric Comrie was between the pipes in Buffalo’s last game; Anderson was last in the net Saturday when he stopped 23-of-26 shots in a 4-3 Sabres win over the Chicago Blackhawks.

Penguins at Sabres picks and predictions

Prediction

Penguins 4, Sabres 3

Moneyline

The Pens are scuffling, but at some point — maybe soon — they may be considered a solid play. On the back half of this home-road double, that’s not likely the case here.

Buffalo’s wins of late have been supported by solid puck-possession numbers. If the tag on the Sabres hits +110 or so, they are a decent short underdog. Otherwise, PASS.

Puck line/Against the spread

The last two series meetings last season went past 60 minutes, and 4 straight Pittsburgh-Buffalo games have been decided by 1 goal. With that and the above in mind, the price on the SABRES +1.5 (-250) is a solid one. However, it’s likely only a consideration for larger bankrolls.

Over/Under

Both powerplays have been operating at average levels while drawing a solid number of looks, and both teams have been creating a good number of high-danger chances.

With this goaltending match-up and with Pittsburgh struggling on the penalty kill (70.6%, 28th in the NHL), there is VALUE ON THE OVER 6.5 (-115).

Detroit Red Wings at Buffalo Sabres odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Detroit Red Wings at Buffalo Sabres odds and lines, with NHL expert picks and predictions.

The Detroit Red Wings (4-2-2) and Buffalo Sabres (5-3-0) tussle Monday at the KeyBank Center. The game is slated to get underway at 7 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Red Wings vs. Sabres odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

The Red Wings clocked a 2-1 home-ice triumph over the Minnesota Wild Saturday. Detroit has been feast-or-famine at the defensive end. The Wings have held foes to 1 or 0 goals in 3 of their 4 wins. They’ve allowed 20 goals in their 4 losses.

The Sabres — who downed the Chicago Blackhawks 4-3 in overtime Saturday — are in their home barn for a 3rd straight game. Buffalo tallied a pair of powerplay goals in the win over the Blackhawks, but it has been the club’s solid 5-on-5 play that has it averaging 3.6 goals per game (5th NHL).

Red Wings at Sabres projected goalies

Ville Husso (3-1-1, 2.40 GAA, .926 SV%) vs. Eric Comrie (2-3-0, 3.41 GAA, .909 SV%)

Husso opened his season with a 1-0 shutout and has since alternated 2 cycles of allowing 5 goals and 1 goal. He yielded 1 on 31 shots against Minnesota Saturday.

Comrie has been so-so while facing a ton of shots so far. He did not play Saturday against the Blackhawks but has logged an .862 SV% in his last 2 starts. In the first of those turns (Tuesday at Seattle Kraken), Comrie allowed 5 goals but was undone by 2 powerplay scores.

Red Wings at Sabres picks and predictions

Prediction

Sabres 3, Red Wings 2

Moneyline

Buffalo looks like its worst puck-possession games are pretty far back in the rearview mirror, and recent games have been encouraging.

Detroit has had players in the penalty box a bit too often of late, and perhaps that gives a Sabres powerplay that has scored in 5 of its last 6 games a chance too many.

Consider a partial-unit play on BUFFALO (-150). A price drop to -135 would make for fully vested action.

Puck line/Against the spread

PASS on trying to get the Sabres by multiple goals in a game with a likeable Under.

Over/Under

Early-season shooting percentages for both sides are a bit high. Buffalo has been yielding a lot of looks but in part due to some recent short-handed situations (allowing PP goals without piling up a ton of minutes). Detroit does not typically generate a slew of scoring chances.

BACK THE UNDER 6.5 (+100).

Buffalo Sabres at St. Louis Blues odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Friday’s Buffalo Sabres at St. Louis Blues odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Buffalo Sabres (16-28-8) head west to face the St. Louis Blues (30-14-6) Friday at Enterprise Center. Puck drop is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Below, we look at the Sabres vs. Blues odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Sabres were blanked 4-0 at the Montreal Canadiens Wednesday. They’ll be fired up to light the lamp in “The Lou” as they have now lost four in a row. Look for them to apply pressure early and maybe sneak one in.

St. Louis delivered a convincing 4-1 road win over the Philadelphia Flyers Tuesday and has had a couple of days to rest. G Jordan Binnington was great in net, and RW Vladimir Tarasenko returned from a one-game absence with a goal.

Sabres at Blues odds, spread and lines

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated at 9:28 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Sabres +230 (bet $100 to win $230) | Blues -300 (bet $100 to win $300)
  • Against the spread (ATS): Sabres +1.5 (+105) | Blues -1.5 (-130)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 5.5 (O: -140 | U: +112)

Sabres at Blues projected goalies

Craig Anderson (6-6-0, 2.92 GAA, .907 SV%) vs. Jordan Binnington (12-10-3, 3.25 GAA, .900 SV%, 1 SO)

Anderson is 1-4-0 with a 3.83 GAA and has allowed 3 goals or more in four of five games in February. That figures to happen again Friday as the team continues to rebuild.

Binnington put on a show Tuesday in a statement game for the struggling goaltender as he allowed just 1 goal on 26 shots to the Flyers. He was terrible beforehand allowing 18 goals in three previous games. Look for him to get one more start here in a soft spot to continue to get right.

Sabres at Blues odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Blues 4, Sabres 2

Money line

The Blues (-300) are too expensive to play on the money line most nights and this slate is no different. PASS

Against the spread

The BLUES -1.5 (-130) have won six of 10 games, and all of those wins have been by at least 2 goals. They’re 7-0 in the last seven games when playing on two days’ rest or more. This could even wind up being a 5-1 score considering how good Binnington looked against Philadelphia.

Over/Under

OVER 5.5 (-140) is the way to go here with a lot of juice in tow. It’s surprising that the Over didn’t open at 6.5 with the way the Blues have been playing. If it goes there, stay away. However, we’ll light the lamp on a 5.5 total.

Buffalo Sabres at New York Islanders odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Thursday’s Buffalo Sabres at New York Islanders odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Buffalo Sabres (10-16-5) visit the New York Islanders (8-12-6) Thursday at UBS Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Sabres vs. Islanders odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Sabres lost a tough one 4-3 at home to the New Jersey Devils as play resumed Wednesday. The Sabres were outshot 42-22, although RW Tage Thompson showed up with 2 of the team’s 3 goals.

The Islanders were also supposed to play Wednesday and have a back-to-back situation, but the Red Wings had too many COVID issues to field a team. So the Isles come in with extra rest, last playing Dec. 19 in a shootout loss to the Vegas Golden Knights.

Sabres at Islanders projected goalies

Malcolm Subban (0-1-1, 4.79 GAA, .877 SV%) vs. Ilya Sorokin (7-7-5, 2.49 GAA, .926 SV%, 3 SO)

Subban gets the nod after Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen was the backstop in the home loss to New Jersey Wednesday. Subban last appeared Dec. 17 in Pittsburgh when he turned aside 45 of the 48 shots he faced in a 3-2 overtime loss.

Sorokin was in between the pipes last time out Dec. 19 against Vegas and he turned aside 31 of the 34 shots he faced in a shootout loss. He is still a respectable 2-1-3 with a 2.62 GAA and .921 SV% in six December appearances.

Sabres at Islanders odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Islanders 3, Sabres 2

Money line

The Islanders (-220) are well-rested, but risking more than two times your potential return on a sub-.500 team is just not a recommended wager.

AVOID, and look to the puck for a small-unit bet instead.

Against the spread

Play the SABRES +1.5 (-150) lightly, as this price isn’t terribly out of line.

The Islanders have just been too inconsistent this season. The past three games for the Sabres have also been one-goal games, and five of their last six have been decided by just one goal, too.

Over/Under

UNDER 5.5 (-115) is the lean here. While New York is rested there will likely be a rust factor. The Under is 5-1-1 in the last seven games for the Sabres, while going 2-1 in the three games prior to the holiday/COVID pause.
