Raiders open as home favorites over Browns Week 4

Despite the Raiders’ ugly loss to the winless Panthers last Sunday, they are once again favored to win when the Browns come to town in Week four.

Despite the Raiders’ ugly loss to the winless Panthers last Sunday, they are once again favored to win when the Browns come to town in Week four.

The opening odds have the Raiders as two-point favorites with an over under set at 37 points.

Both the Raiders and Browns sit at 1-2 on the season and are coming off home losses to winless teams. So, neither team has earned the right to be a clear favorite.

The difference here is probably a matter of where the game is played. The Raiders get the edge because the game is in Las Vegas.

With the way some opposing teams travel to Las Vegas, the Raiders often don’t have much of a homefield advantage. As it happens, they did have a strong advantage in the crowd numbers. And it didn’t matter. Once the team went down by three scores, the loud cheers turned to loud boos.

Both teams have put a product on the field worth booing by their own fans this season. At least on offense, anyway.

The Browns are unprecedented favorites over the Texans in Week 2

The Browns are favored by 12.5 points over the visiting Texans for Sunday’s game

When the Cleveland Browns kick off the home slate for 2021 on Sunday against the Houston Texans, they will do something they have never done since returning to the field in 1999.

The Browns are currently 12.5-point favorites to beat the Texans in Week 1 at most sportsbooks, including our friends at tipico. It represents the biggest margin the Browns have been favored by since the team came back to life in 1999, as noted by ESPN’s Field Yates.

The Texans are 1-0 and pounded Jacksonville in Week 1, which makes the huge spread seem even more bullish for the Browns. Cleveland’s biggest margin as a favorite in 2020, when the team made the postseason for the first time since 2002, was 7.5 over the Bengals in Week 7 — a game in Cincinnati the Browns won by just three points.

Browns open with top-10 odds to win Super Bowl LVI

The Browns are usually in the bottom 10 for initial Super Bowl odds. Not anymore…

[jwplayer qmt11zsL]

It didn’t take long for the oddsmakers to publish the full initial lines for the winner of the next Super Bowl. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were still celebrating the win in Super Bowl LV when BetMGM released the odds for all 32 teams for next season.

The Cleveland Browns find themselves much closer to the top of those odds than normal. Coming off the team’s best season in over 25 years, Cleveland is one of the trendier early risers in the odds. The Browns are tied for the 10th-best odds to win at 25-1, along with the Indianapolis Colts, Tennessee Titans, Dallas Cowboys and Miami Dolphins.

The Chiefs, who lost in Sunday’s matchup, have the best odds at 6-1, followed by the Green Bay Packers (9-1), Buccaneers (10-1) and three teams at 12-1. The Jacksonville Jaguars have the lowest odds at 100-1.

Playoff odds watch: Browns open as 4.5-points dogs in wild-card round

Playoff odds watch: Browns open as 4.5-points dogs in wild-card round

https://embed.sendtonews.com/oembed/?SC=gjBlRtSgrz-1093896-7498&format=json&offsetx=0&offsety=0&floatwidth=400&floatposition=bottom-right&float=on

The Browns defeated the Steelers in FirstEnergy Stadium on Sunday to set up a wild-card round rematch in Pittsburgh. The professional bookmakers aren’t so confident the Browns can pull off the win two weeks in a row.

At BetMGM, the Browns are 4.5-point underdogs to the Steelers for Sunday night’s game. It’s a pretty common line across most books. The over/under for the game is set at 46.5, or five points higher than last Sunday’s line. Cleveland won 24-22.

Both teams could look quite different in the wild-card round. The Browns have several defenders who could come off the reserve/COVID-19 list. Pittsburgh rested several key players, including T.J. Watt and Ben Roethlisberger, in Week 17.

Cleveland Browns vs. Houston Texans betting preview

The Browns are favored over the Texans but it’s an odd line

The Cleveland Browns (5-3) are hosting the Houston Texans (2-6) and despite the Houston franchise being in complete disarray after an off-season in which they traded away their most valuable player and a miserable start to the season which resulted in the firing of both their head coach and general manager, which were the same person in Bill O’Brien, Cleveland is only favored by a shockingly low 3.5 points at BetMGM.

This low number is actually even higher after going up from three to 3.5 from Monday to now, but is this obvious bet a good one?

Last week the Texans were big-time favorites against a Jacksonville Jaguars squad who not only stunk, but was also without Gardner Minshew to guide them. The replacement was sixth-round draft selection and underwhelming Oregon State product, Jake Luton. Even with this extremely favorable opportunity, Houston only won by two points. Jacksonville failed to connect on a two-point conversion late, ending the game at 27-25.

How Houston is only catching a field goal and a hook is insane to me, but the Cleveland Browns have also been massive disappointments the three weeks before their bye week. Most will remember the embarrassing loss to Pittsburgh, the closer-than-ideal victory against Cincinnati and another embarrassing loss to Las Vegas.

With Wyatt Teller and Nick Chubb coming back, every fiber in my being wants to take the Cleveland Browns and lay the points, especially with the weather likely favoring the smash-mouth running team. But the inconsistencies that we have seen for the last few weeks lead me to believe the smarter play is to wait to see how high this line can go and possibly catch a touchdown with the X-Factor Deshaun Watson and his Texans.

Odds watch: Browns open as 3.5-point favorites in Cincinnati

The 4-2 Cleveland Browns head south on I-71 to Cincinnati to face the 1-4-1 Bengals in Week 7 and the bookmakers remain confident in the Browns to win the game. The Browns open as a 3.5-point favorite over the Bengals at BetMGM.

The Browns lost 38-7 in Pittsburgh in Week 6. The Bengals blew a 21-0 lead and fell at home to the Colts, 31-27.

With the home team typically earning a field goal of value, the 3.5-point line is right in step with the Week 2 outcome. The Browns beat the Bengals 35-30 in FirstEnergy Stadium, a game that was not as close as the final score would indicate.

The initial over/under for the game is 51.5 points.

Odds watch: Browns open as underdogs in Pittsburgh

The undefeated Steelers are 3.5-point favorites over the 4-1 Browns

The Cleveland Browns are 4-1 for the first time since before Baker Mayfield and Myles Garrett were even born. Alas, they’re still not able to earn favored status when heading into Pittsburgh in Week 6.

The Steelers have opened as 3.5-point favorites at BetMGM as well as most other outlets. Being undefeated and playing at home are valid reasons why the Steelers get the benefit of the doubt. They’ve earned that respect for how they’ve performed in 2020.

At 50.5 points, the over/under is one of the lower ones for the Week 6 slate. Cleveland has scored at least 32 points four weeks in a row but has also allowed 20 or more in every game. Pittsburgh has posted at least 26 points in each of its four games.

Browns still big favorites to beat the Bengals

The Browns are 6-point favorites in their home opener

[jwplayer sjzbfvXH-ThvAeFxT]

No NFL team had a worse point differential in Week 1 than the Cleveland Browns. Yet the 32-point loss in Baltimore didn’t do much to alter the Browns’ status as big favorites for the Week 2 matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals.

The Browns remain 6-point favorites to beat the Bengals as of 2 p.m. ET on Tuesday at BetMGM. The over/under for the game is set at a low 43.5 points, meaning the oddsmakers at BetMGM believe the Browns will prevail at home 25-19 or 24-18, depending on your preference of over or under.

Cincinnati also lost in Week 1, falling at home to the Los Angeles Chargers, 16-13. Rookie QB Joe Burrow impressively rallied the team late but WR A.J. Green was called for offensive pass interference on the potential game-winning touchdown and then kicked Randy Bullock shanked the game-tying field attempt.
