Los Angeles Clippers at Brooklyn Nets odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Tuesday’s Los Angeles Clippers at Brooklyn Nets NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Brooklyn Nets (13-9) host the Los Angeles Clippers (16-5) Tuesday at Barclays Center for a 7:30 p.m. ET tip-off. Below, we analyze the Clippers-Nets NBA odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

The only disturbance the Clippers have dealt with recently was when their dynamic duo of SF Kawhi Leonard and SG Paul George missed two games. Los Angeles actually split those games (losing at the Atlanta Hawks 108-99 Jan. 26 and winning at the Miami Heat 109-105 Jan. 28). That was the Clippers’ only loss in their last 11 games.

Brooklyn lost a stunner 149-146 Sunday to the Washington Wizards after blowing a 5-point lead with under 10 seconds remaining by allowing both Wizards PG Russell Westbrook and SG Bradley Beal to sink threes.

The story of Brooklyn’s new era continues to be its ability to get buckets and inability to stop anyone. Since SG James Harden joined the Nets Jan. 14, Brooklyn is outscoring opponents 123.7 to 124.6, both of which are the most in the NBA over the last nine games.

Clippers at Nets: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Clippers 121, Nets 118

Money line (ML)

The CLIPPERS (-120) are flying way under the radar compared to last season for several reasons. They shouldn’t be overlooked, as they’ve had an extra season’s worth of continuity with one of the few rosters nearly as talented as Brooklyn’s.

Over the past nine games, Los Angeles quietly has the best net rating in the league and this includes a red-hot Utah Jazz team that just had an 11-game winning streak snapped and the Nets, who are setting the world on fire with their offense.

Leonard has shot better than Nets SF Kevin Durant in their head-to-head history and his teams have a 7-6 record. Harden commits 4.6 turnovers per game and shoots 38.7% from the field and 31.4% on threes in his 20 career games vs. George, and PG’s teams are 14-6 vs. Harden’s.

I’d feel a little better about Los Angeles if Beverley was active so he could pester Nets PG Kyrie Irving on the defensive end but I’ll still TAKE CLIPPERS (-120).

Against the spread (ATS)

PASS. Don’t be cheap, just pay the extra vig so you don’t have to fuss with the spread.

Over/Under (O/U)

The Nets have been as exciting as everyone hoped and eight of their nine games since Jan. 16 have gone Over the projected total.

Los Angeles can fill it up almost as well as Brooklyn and the Clippers are third in offensive rating behind only the Jazz and Nets in the last nine games.

While everything points to this being an awesome game, full of great offense, it’s just too big of a number for a primetime game. Also, we’ve seen too many NBA games turn into routs and the Over is in peril should a team have the game secured midway through the fourth quarter.

lean UNDER 241.5 (-110) for a tiny wager.

Nets at Wizards: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Nets 131, Wizards 115

Money line (ML)

This game seems like a lock for the Nets, considering Brooklyn is No. 2 in the Eastern Conference and Washington has the worst record in the entire NBA; however, one of Washington’s three wins this season was over Brooklyn Jan. 3.

That said, the Wizards have lost four in a row and the Nets have won four straight. Even potentially without Harden, the Nets should roll, especially if they remember the earlier loss. Take the NETS (-350).

Against the spread (ATS)

Neither team has been a consistent bet to cover the spread. Brooklyn is only 9-12 ATS and Washington is 6-9 ATS.

Washington’s record against the spread is much better than its actual record but the Wizards did not cover the spread in any of their four loss in their current losing skid. The Nets should not have much problem in a blowout win. Take the NETS -7.5 (-110).

Over/Under (O/U)

The Nets are the highest-scoring team in the NBA, averaging 121.0 points per game. They also have the second-highest Over percentage in the league at 71.4%. Washington’s games have gone Over 60% of the time as well and the Wizards average 114.7 points per game themselves.

Both teams like to score and Washington allows the most points in the league at 120.1 per game. Take OVER 244.5 (-110).

The Brooklyn Nets (12-8) are on the road Friday night against the Oklahoma City Thunder (8-9). Tip-off at Chesapeake Energy Arena is set for 8 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Nets-Thunder NBA odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Nets at Thunder: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Nets 123, Thunder 109

Money line (ML)

The Nets have gotten back on track after losing two straight games to the Cleveland Cavaliers. They’ve won each of their last three games – including two over the Miami Heat. With the “Big 3” healthy and beginning to mesh, I think the Nets go on to win this one comfortably.

Take the NETS (-450) to win outright, even with a lopsided money line that doesn’t come with much of a reward.

Against the spread (ATS)

The Nets are unsurprisingly favored by almost double-digits over the Thunder. They’re the far better team right now, even though OKC has won two straight after losing three in a row.

Bet the NETS -9.5 (-110) to cover and win by at least 10 points.

Over/Under (O/U)

This is a matchup between one of the best offenses in the NBA and one of the worst. Brooklyn is second in the league in scoring, averaging 119.8 points per game. With the Nets scoring as much as they have, the Over has been a good bet.

In the Nets’ last 10 games, the Over is 9-1. It’s 6-4 in the Thunder’s last 10, as well.

Take the OVER 231.5 (-110).

Brooklyn Nets at Atlanta Hawks odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Wednesday’s Brooklyn Nets at Atlanta Hawks NBA betting odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Atlanta Hawks (9-8) host the Brooklyn Nets (11-8) Wednesday at State Farm Arena. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Nets-Hawks NBA odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

It’s been an interesting couple of weeks for the Nets, who acquired G James Harden in a blockbuster trade while simultaneously dealing with the absence of PG Kyrie Irving. It hasn’t been profitable betting on the three-headed monster in Brooklyn as the Nets are just 2-4 against the spread since Harden joined the team.

Atlanta has beaten up on bad teams but is 4-1 straight up and ATS in its last five games, including a 108-99 win as a 6-point home favorite over the Los Angeles Clippers Tuesday.

The Hawks lost to the other three above-.500 opponents they’ve played in the past two weeks in the Utah Jazz, Portland Trail Blazers and Milwaukee Bucks.

These teams split their earlier meetings this season, but the Hawks covered the spread in both games. Brooklyn won the first meeting in a 145-141 shootout, then Atlanta hammered the Nets 114-96.

Nets at Hawks: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 2:25 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: Nets -280 (bet $280 to win $100) | Hawks +220 (bet $100 to win $220)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Nets -6.5 (-110) | Hawks +6.5 (-110)
  • Over/Under: 238.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Nets at Hawks: Key injuries

Nets

  • SG Spencer Dinwiddie (knee) out

Hawks

  • SG Cam Reddish (Achilles) questionable

Nets at Hawks: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Nets 117, Hawks 106

Money line (ML)

PASS.

Against the spread (ATS)

Since the beginning of last season, Atlanta has been the worst bet when playing on no rest: The Hawks are an NBA-worst 3-11 ATS with a minus-10.6 ATS margin in the second half of back-to-backs.

This is major because while Atlanta has a relatively clean injury report at the moment, they’ve battled injuries all season with key contributors at less than full health.

Also, Brooklyn has to be motivated by getting crushed in its last game against Atlanta. Now that The Beard has joined forces with Irving and SF Kevin Durant, this game will go differently.

GIMME NETS -6.5 (-110) for 1 unit.

Over/Under (O/U)

Brooklyn’s 98-85 victory over the Miami Heat in its last game broke a 12-game Over streak. The Nets have the second-highest Over percentage in the league whereas the Hawks have the highest Under percentage.

Atlanta is going to be pumped for this rubber match so I’m disregarding any of that “tired legs from playing the night prior” talk. The Hawks will at least try to D up the Nets.

Despite liking the Nets side, I lean UNDER 238.5 (-110) for a half-unit because this is too high of a projected total for how reliant Brooklyn is on three guys.

Heat at Nets: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Nets 123, Heat 117

Money line (ML)

The Nets (-350) will cost you three-and-a-half times your potential return, and that’s risky and a poor long-term strategy. Even if this bet came through 77 percent of the time, you’d be running a deficit. AVOID.

Against the spread (ATS)

The HEAT +7.5 (-110) are a strong play, as the Nets’ -7.5 (-110) struggles on defense leave the door open for everyone. Brooklyn enters 0-3 ATS across the past three, and 1-4 ATS over the previous five outings. Miami lost 128-124 on Saturday as an eight-point ‘dog, and you can expect a similar spread here.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 234.5 (-110) is insanely high, but it might not be high enough. These teams combined for 252 total points Saturday in the first installment, including a ridiculous 74 points in the final quarter. Brooklyn is No. 1 with 120.3 PPG, a 49.3% field-goal percentage and their scoring defense ranks 27th with 116.8 PPG. The Nets are on a 12-0 Over run, with their last Under on New Year’s Day against Atlanta.

Miami Heat at Brooklyn Nets odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s Miami Heat at Brooklyn Nets NBA betting odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Miami Heat (6-8) visit the Brooklyn Nets (9-8) at the Barclays Center Saturday for an 8 p.m. ET tip-off. Below, we analyze the Heat-Nets NBA odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

This will be the fourth straight two-game set against the same team for Miami, who will also play Brooklyn Jan. 25. The Heat lost both meetings vs. the Philadelphia 76ers (1-1 against the spread), next they split two games with the Detroit Pistons (0-1-1 ATS) and won the first of a two-game miniseries with the Toronto Raptors (1-1 ATS) coming into Saturday.

Brooklyn has lost back-to-back games at the Cleveland Cavaliers as heavy favorites to snap a four-game win streak entering Saturday. The 147-135 double-overtime loss to the Cavs on Jan. 20 was the Nets’ first game with Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant and James Harden all active. KD did not play to manage his surgically repaired Achilles’ in Brooklyn’s 125-113 loss to Cleveland last night.

Heat at Nets: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Nets 123, Heat 109

Money line (ML)

PASS ON THE MONEY LINE. All of the big 3 are playing for the Nets (-350) Saturday, but I have too much respect for Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra to pay such a steep price for a straight-up Brooklyn win.

Miami’s run to the NBA Finals last season in the Orlando bubble was powered by the best teamwork, continuity and togetherness in the Eastern Conference. The Heat were slow to recapture that form early this season and have recently suffered setbacks due to injury and COVID-19. Miami will still be without Jimmy Butler, and Tyler Herro is now out with injury.

Against the spread (ATS)

Continuity is for sure a question mark with Brooklyn, but KD is the best player in the world, and I think he’ll want to make a statement versus the defending Eastern Conference champs. KD is the second-leading scorer in the NBA (31.3 points per game) on an efficient 60.7% effective field-goal shooting.

Kyrie Irving scored a season-high 38 points in Brooklyn’s loss Friday to the Cavs, and Harden is averaging 26.5 points, 8.3 and 12.5 assists per game in his four games with the Nets. Also, Kyrie was chirping this morning on Instagram with “We will be on that stage … The main stage” and KD responded with “Speak on it King!!” so I’m expecting Brooklyn’s big 3 to back up the talk tonight.

BET NETS -7.5 (-110) for 1 unit.

Over/Under (O/U)

PASS ON THE TOTAL with a lean on Over 232.5 (-110). The total aligns with my prediction, but I could see Miami getting hot from three and/or Brooklyn putting up 130-plus points. However, the Heat are banged up and 27th in points per game over their past five.

Nets at Cavaliers: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Nets 123, Cavaliers 115

Money line (ML)

The Nets (-450) are favored to bounce back in a big way after losing an epic 147-135 double-overtime game against the Cavaliers (+350) Wednesday. But can you feel confident risking four-and-a-half times your potential return? Definitely not. AVOID.

Against the spread (ATS)

The CAVALIERS +9.5 (-110) won a classic against the Nets -9.5 (-110) to get back to .500 Wednesday night. They cannot be trusted to win outright for a third consecutive outing, but they should be able to keep this one within single digits after covering each of their past two. And Brooklyn’s defense, or lack thereof, will keep the Cavs in the game even.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 227.5 (-110) cashed easily in Wednesday’s battle with a total of 282 points. We’ll obviously see much fewer points here, but will we see 56 less? Doubtful. While Cleveland allows just 106.1 PPG to rank fourth in the NBA, Brooklyn is second in offense with 120.3 PPG, and they don’t play a great brand of defense, yielding 115.8 PPG to rank 25th in the league. Look for another Over, which is 10-0 run for the Nets.

Milwaukee Bucks at Brooklyn Nets odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Monday’s Milwaukee Bucks at Brooklyn Nets NBA betting odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Milwaukee Bucks (9-4) face off against the Brooklyn Nets (8-6) at the Barclays Center in what is probably the headliner of the NBA’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day slate. The tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Bucks-Nets NBA betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Milwaukee is on a four-game winning streak (2-2 against the spread) entering Monday’s meeting with the Nets. The Bucks squeaked past the Dallas Mavericks 112-109 as 8-point home favorites Friday. Despite not covering vs. the Mavericks, Milwaukee is still 3-2 ATS against above-.500 teams.

The Nets won their first game since trading for former MVP James Harden by beating the Orlando Magic 122-115 at home Saturday but couldn’t cover as 9-point favorites. Harden was spectacular in his debut, posting a triple-double with 32 points, 12 rebounds and 14 assists. Not to be outdone, PF Kevin Durant dropped 42 points on 16-for-26 shooting with 4 rebounds and 5 assists.

Not that it matters given all of Brooklyn’s recent roster turnover, but the Bucks have beaten the Nets in seven of their past 10 contests (6-4 ATS).

Bucks at Nets: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Bucks 121, Nets 113

Money line (ML)

If continuity and defense are a thing in basketball, and it is, then how can you not TAKE the BUCKS (-140) here? This could be the Nets’ first game with their trio of all-time scorers if Irving can play, and Milwaukee has the highest regular-season winning percentage since head coach Mike Budenholzer was hired in 2018.

The acquisition of PG Jrue Holiday fortified Milwaukee’s perimeter defense and gave the Bucks a big three featuring Holiday, reigning back-to-back MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo and All-Star SF Khris Middleton.

The market is high on the Nets—most bookmakers made Brooklyn the favorite to win the Eastern Conference after acquiring Harden—and while there’s a good chance these teams meet in a playoff series, the Nets need time to get comfortable with each other. I’d BET BUCKS (-140) to win the first matchup between these title contenders.

Against the spread (ATS)

PASS ON THE SPREAD and just stick with betting Milwaukee to just win. You could pick either or, but my preference is the Bucks’ money line.

Over/Under (O/U)

Milwaukee is too good defensively to bet an Over if this total is in the mid 230s. The Bucks rank eighth in defensive rating and sixth in opponent’s 3-point percentage. I am nervous betting against the Nets’ superstars getting buckets, so I lean UNDER 237.5 (-110) for a quarter-unit

Magic at Nets: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Nets 119, Magic 100

Money line (ML)

The Nets are huge money line favorites in this contest and it’s not hard to see why. They are the far superior team and they are also healthier. The Magic are missing several key pieces and have lost four straight games, all by double-digits.

There isn’t much value in betting the Nets as -400 favorites. Instead, PASS on the money line in favor of the point spread.

Against the spread (ATS)

The NETS -9.5 (+100) are less than double-digit favorites in this game and that feels far too low. The Magic have lost their last four games by a combined 105 points. They failed to cover the spread in each of their last four games and they are playing awful basketball.

Meanwhile, the Nets appear to be rejuvenated after the Harden trade and he could appear in this game. For all of those reasons, take Brooklyn to win by at least 10 points.

Over/Under (O/U)

Take the UNDER 225.5 (-110) with just enough healthy bodies available for the Magic. The Nets will carry the bulk of the scoring but are likely to rest most key starters late in the game.

Thunder at Nets: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Nets 111, Thunder 98

Money line (ML)

The Nets (-400) are massive money line favorites in this game, but there just isn’t enough value. They’ve been a bit inconsistent to start the season and the big reason why is due to injuries. They are healthier entering this game and should win easily, but PASS on the money line in favor of the point spread.

Against the spread (ATS)

Despite nearly identical records, the NETS -8.5 (-110) are the far more talented team with scorers all over the floor. This should be a double-digit line, so take the value here on Brooklyn before the gap grows.

Over/Under (O/U)

OKC has the second-worst offense in the NBA, averaging 101.9 points per game. While the Nets could certainly score into the 120s in this game by themselves, take the UNDER 226.5 (-110) as the Thunder won’t offer much help.
