LSU among the best talent producers in college football

LSU has been a bed of talent for the NFL in recent years.

Several former LSU players have gone onto stardom in the NFL.

That level of production has put LSU among the top in NFL draft producers in recent years.

Forty-one Tigers have been drafted in the last five years. Only Alabama, Georgia, and Ohio State have more. With the draft on Thursday, LSU has the chance to add to this list.

Last year, [autotag]Derek Stingley Jr.[/autotag] kicked off draft night for the Tigers when the Houston Texans took him third overall.

It’s unlikely LSU has a first-rounder this year. If that’s the case, it would be the first time since 2018 an LSU name wasn’t called on the first night.

The first LSU player off the board this year could be [autotag]BJ Ojulari[/autotag], an edge expected to go in the second round. After that, it’s anyone’s guess.

Where [autotag]Kayshon Boutte[/autotag] goes, or if he’s even drafted, is very much still up in the air. Other LSU prospects that could hear their name called this weekend include [autotag]Jaquelin Roy[/autotag], [autotag]Mekhi Garner[/autotag] and [autotag]Jarrick Bernard-Converse[/autotag].

Blue-chip 2024 in-state athlete includes LSU in final 4

The Tigers will try to keep the Lafayette prospect close to home.

[autotag]Ju’Juan Johnson[/autotag] is a four-star athlete from Lafayette, Louisiana, where he plays for Lafayette Christian Academy.

One of the best recruits in the state of Louisiana is up for grabs, and per usual, [autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] is all over it. The “Recruit the Boot” motto is in full swing for the Tigers as they have made the final four for the talented athlete.

The Tigers join SEC foes Florida and Georgia as well as the Colorado Buffaloes. Primetime has taken over in Boulder,  and as he has tweeted, he’s not hard to find. He has stormed the recruiting trail and has Colorado included in many recruiting battles that they would otherwise not be involved in.

There are currently no Crystal Ball projections for Johnson, but LSU is a 94% favorite to land him per On3. LSU currently has the No. 1 recruiting class for 2024 with eight commitments.

Brian Kelly downplays ACC Championship experience ahead of SEC title game

Kelly discussed how previous conference championship experience has prepared him for Saturday.

When [autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] was the coach of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in 2020, the Irish were forced to play as a part of the ACC conference for one season.

That season, Kelly made his first championship game since he was at Central Michigan. Notre Dame lost to Clemson 34-10, but could that experience help him in any way as he prepares for the SEC Championship Game against Georgia?

Were there any lessons he learned against Dabo and Clemson that he could implement for the Georgia game plan? Kelly was asked about that when he met with the media this week.

“Not really that much,” Brian Kelly said. “I mean, I think in terms of just balancing your schedule because you’re losing opportunity relative to staying ahead of it in recruiting.”

LSU takes on Georgia for the SEC Championship on Saturday at 3 p.m. CT.
