Brian Kelly downplays ACC Championship experience ahead of SEC title game

Kelly discussed how previous conference championship experience has prepared him for Saturday.

When [autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] was the coach of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in 2020, the Irish were forced to play as a part of the ACC conference for one season.

That season, Kelly made his first championship game since he was at Central Michigan. Notre Dame lost to Clemson 34-10, but could that experience help him in any way as he prepares for the SEC Championship Game against Georgia?

Were there any lessons he learned against Dabo and Clemson that he could implement for the Georgia game plan? Kelly was asked about that when he met with the media this week.

“Not really that much,” Brian Kelly said. “I mean, I think in terms of just balancing your schedule because you’re losing opportunity relative to staying ahead of it in recruiting.”

LSU takes on Georgia for the SEC Championship on Saturday at 3 p.m. CT.
