Philadelphia Eagles sign OL Brett Toth to the practice squad

The Eagles are bringing back Brett Toth. The versatile offensive lineman is re-signing to the team’s practice squad after being released on Tuesday.

James Bradberry was placed on Injured Reserve Thursday, freeing up a roster spot for Oren Burks, who was promoted from the practice squad. Burks promotion freed up space for Toth to return.

Toth spent Training Camp and the preseason with the Eagles. He was released during the roster cutdown. The versatile lineman lined up primarily at guard and center in Training Camp, earning reps with the first-team unit when other players were out of the lineup.

Toth has a long history with the Eagles. Originally signed as a rookie free agent out of the Army in 2019, Toth first saw regular-season action for the Eagles in 2020, playing in six games with a start. In his five seasons with the Eagles, Cardinals, and Panthers, Toth has suited up in 20 games while starting two of those contests.

Panthers waive G Brett Toth

The Panthers have waived G Brett Toth, who started for the team in Week 12.

The Carolina Panthers are still doing some construction on their offensive line.

As first reported by Darin Gantt of Panthers.com on Monday, the team has waived guard Brett Toth.

Toth signed with Carolina back on Oct. 24, alongside outside linebacker Luiji Vilain. Prior to joining the Panthers, the United States Military Academy product broke into the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Philadelphia Eagles—for whom he appeared in 17 games between the 2020 and 2021 campaigns.

The 6-foot-6, 304-pounder played three games this season, including a start in Week 12 against the Tennessee Titans. Toth received the nod at right guard, where he allowed four pressures over 44 pass-blocking opportunities in the 17-10 loss.

Week 13 saw a new starting combination for the Panthers, who lined up Justin McCray on the left side and undrafted rookie Nash Jensen on the right.

The lead candidate to fill Toth’s spot on the roster may be veteran Gabe Jackson, who signed with the team’s practice squad last Wednesday.

Fellow cornerback Lamar Jackson was elevated from the practice squad yesterday to provide some depth at the position.
