Is Kyren Williams playing today? Latest updates for Rams RB

Kyren Williams will be among several Rams starters sitting out today’s game against the Seahawks

Kyren Williams has handled a bigger workload than just about any running back in the NFL this season. His 316 carries rank third in the NFL and his 140 pass-blocking snaps are 46 more than any other player at his position.

So with the Los Angeles Rams locked in as the No. 3 or 4 seed in the NFC playoff bracket, Sean McVay is going to give his workhorse a well-deserved break.

Here’s the latest on Williams heading into the season finale against the Seattle Seahawks today.

Kyren Williams update

Williams will not play today against Seattle. McVay is choosing to rest him for this game, along with several other starters on offense. The running back has taken a beating this season with all the touches he’s received, so McVay is holding him out to keep him fresh for the playoffs.

Rams RB depth chart

With Williams resting today, rookie Blake Corum will have a heavy workload in the backfield. McVay said he’s excited to see Corum handle the starting role, while also giving Cody Schrader his first opportunities of the season, too.

Ronnie Rivers also figures to get some work in today’s finale, too.

Texans vs. Titans: Houston adds 3 players before Week 18 finale

D’Angelo Ross is sticking around the Houston Texans for the remainder of the 2024 season.

The Houston Texans are shoring up their depth chart heading into the Week 18 regular-season finale.

The Texans are signing cornerback D’Angelo Ross to the active roster from the practice squad, putting him under contract through the 2025 season.  He’ll replace cornerback Jeff Okudah, who was ruled out for this game with a concussion suffered during drills in practice.

Ross, best known as a special teams ace with the New England Patriots, has played in nine games for the Texans. He has recorded a career-high 13 tackles.

He’s appeared in 51 percent of the special teams snaps and 135 defensive snaps for 24 percent of the playing time.

Last season, Ross played eight defensive snaps and 13 games overall for the AFC South champions en route to a 10-win season.

The Texans are also elevating former Los Angeles Rams safety Russ Yeast and rookie defensive end Solomon Byrd for Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans from the practice squad.

In a corresponding move, rookie linebacker Jamal Hill was placed on injured reserve with a hamstring injury, ending his season.

Kickoff from Nissan Stadium is scheduled for noon CT.

Is Kamari Lassiter playing today? Latest updates for Texans CB

Kamari Lassiter will see action on Sunday against the Tennessee Titans.

The Houston Texans are at a crossroads entering Week 18 of the regular season.

Starters are expected to play against the Tennessee Titans, but the question is for how long? Texans coach DeMeco Ryans initially didn’t plan on playing starters, but plans changed after an abysmal outing against the Baltimore Ravens on Christmas Day.

“For us right now, we’ve got to go play better,” Ryans said. “Our last outing on the field was not good enough. It was not representative of who we are. Defensively, offensively, just not a good representation of our team entirely. So we’ve got to go out and play better football.”

Among those who could miss the second half is rookie cornerback Kamari Lassiter. He appeared on the injury report after dealing with a calf strain and was limited during practice throughout the week.

Cornerback is a position lacking depth with both Jimmie Ward and Jalen Pitre out at the nickel position. Still, players want to end their season on a high note en route to a 10-win campaign.

“You can never take that for granted,” Texans running back Joe Mixon said. “You got people after this week that are going home. You’ve got 14 teams left and from there, it’s time to put your best stuff on tape. I think that we have a great opportunity in front of us to go out there against Tennessee to try and do whatever we can to go into the playoffs with a great taste.”

Kamari Lassiter update

Lassiter will play on Sunday at Nissan Stadium. Should the Texans pull out to a significant lead, Ryans will probably pull the No. 3 overall pick for rest.

Lassiter, who’s closing in on a breakout rookie season, appeared on the injury report with a calf issue but was a full participant during Friday’s drills.

Houston will face either the Pittsburgh Steelers or Los Angeles Chargers, depending on the Chargers’ outing against Las Vegas.

Kamari Lassiter stats

In 13 starts, Lassiter has established himself as a reliable coverage presence and as a tackler. He has 57 tackles, four tackles for loss, three interceptions and 10 pass breakups.

Last week, the second-round pick hit Baltimore Ravens Pro Bowl running back Derrick Henry for a safety by tackling him in the end zone for the Texans’ only points in a Christmas Day 31-2 loss.

Texans CB depth chart

Houston’s thin at cornerback entering Week 18. Veteran Jeff Okudah is out with a concussion. Meanwhile, Myles Bryant is limited to only playing in the nickel.

The Texans signed veteran D’Angelo Ross to the active roster on Saturday before departing for Nashville. Behind Lassiter and Derek Stingley Jr. are Russ Yeast and Kris Boyd.

Browns fire two offensive coaches after Week 18 loss to Ravens

Browns part ways with two offensive coaches, Ken Dorsey and Andy Dickerson, after the loss to the Ravens in Week 18.

The Cleveland Browns have announced that they have fired offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey and offensive line coach Andy Dickerson after their loss to the Baltimore Ravens in the regular-season finale.

Cleveland has had a clear drop-off in offensive production since their exciting playoff appearance in 2023. Dorsey, the former Bills offensive coordinator, was one of the first coaches who called offensive plays under head coach Kevin Stefanski. After finishing the season with an average of 15.2 points per game, the lowest in the NFL, Stefanski will likely resume play-calling duties next year with possibly a new quarterback under center.

The offensive line and the entire offense experienced a significant decline in performance this season, partly because of injuries. The Browns are ranked 26th in sack rate (8.1%) and 23rd in pressure rate (35.1%) when teams did not blitz this season. Although they rank last (13.1%) and are prone to sacks against the blitz, they gave up multiple plays in a game that were drive-killers to the offense.

These moves were not unexpected, as the Browns are only guaranteed to retain Stefanski and general manager Andrew Berry. We’ll see who else they could let go before they enter offseason planning.

Is Will Anderson Jr. playing today? Latest updates for Texans DE

Will Anderson Jr. will see action on Sunday against the Tennessee Titans.

Among those who could miss the second half is defensive end Will Anderson Jr. The Pro Bowl alternate hasn’t been at 100% for weeks, so having him rest for perhaps with a lead isn’t the worst idea.

Players, however, want to end their season on a high note en route to a 10-win campaign.

Will Anderson Jr. update

Anderson will play on Sunday at Nissan Stadium. Should the Texans pull out to a significant lead, Ryans will probably pull the No. 3 overall pick for rest.

Anderson, who’s closing in on a potential All-Pro season, appeared on the injury report with a hand issue but was a full participant at practice this week.

Houston will face either the Pittsburgh Steelers or Los Angeles Chargers, depending on the Chargers’ outing against Las Vegas.

Will Anderson Jr.’s stats

After a breakout rookie season, Anderson has continued to impress. In 14 games, he’s totaled 11 sacks, 18 tackles for loss, 36 tackles and two pass breakups.

Texans DE depth chart

Behind Anderson and fellow Pro Bowler Danielle Hunter are Derek Barnett, Dylan Horton, and Solomon Byrd. Denico Autry is out for Sunday’s game with an ankle injury.
