Oregon flips second Notre Dame commit during early signing period

These quacks are annoying

The Irish are dealing with another loss to the same team in the 2023 early signing period. First, it was safety [autotag]Peyton Bowen[/autotag], who didn’t appear to be favoring the Ducks, ultimately picking them over [autotag]Notre Dame[/autotag], [autotag]Texas A&M[/autotag] and [autotag]Oklahoma[/autotag].

Now running back [autotag]Jayden Limar[/autotag] is joining Bowen in flipping from Notre Dame and signing with [autotag]Oregon[/autotag]. This one doesn’t hurt quite as much, as many of us actually expected Limar to do this.

Don’t get me wrong, it still hurts, but the Irish also signed [autotag]Jeremiyah Love[/autotag] and [autotag]Brandyn Hillman[/autotag] who was recruited as an athlete and could play the position as well.

It hasn’t been the exact finish that [autotag]Marcus Freeman[/autotag] and the Irish wanted but they are still signing a group of prospects that many teams across the country would have loved to sign.

Notre Dame Football 2023 early signing day tracker

This class didn’t waste any time getting their signatures to South Bend

It is finally upon us, the hard work the Irish football staff has put in can finally but a “bow” on the 2023 recruiting cycle. Yes, there is still another point where recruits can sign, but Marcus Freeman and his staff have already maxed out the class with verbals and if everyone signs, they will be one over the normal allotment of 25 players.

A few of the verbals didn’t waste any time faxing their information over to South Bend but they should keep coming in as the day proceeds. Find out below which Irish commitments have made their Notre Dame pledges complete. (This list will be updated as the day goes on so make sure to return.)

Oregon trending to flip 2023 Notre Dame running back commitment

Not the best way to start out week Irish fans

Last week we saw rumors that [autotag]Oregon[/autotag] was trying to flip current Irish commit [autotag]Jayden Limar[/autotag]. Well, as the saying goes, where there’s smoke, there’s a fire.

Just this morning the 247Sports crystal balls came rolling in for the Ducks to flip. It came from all over their experts, from national, Steve Wiltfong, to their Notre Dame reporters like Tom Loy.

This is clearly something that the Irish were aware of but have recruited well enough to deal with a recruiting loss like this. [autotag]Jeremiyah Love[/autotag] is one of the best running backs in the country. [autotag]Brandyn Hillman[/autotag] has the ability to play the position as well.

What is a bit concerning is that the Irish are struggling to retain some of their commits as the early signing period approaches. Who knows that’s going on with safety [autotag]Peyton Bowen[/autotag] but the Irish have seen [autotag]Dylan Edwards[/autotag] also decommit this month. It is part of the recruiting game.

Where each Notre Dame ‘23 commit landed on 247Sports updated Top 247

This list is long and impressive for the Irish

The Irish have amassed one of the top recruiting classes for the 2023 cycle, it has been an impressive group in the little time that Marcus Freeman has been leading the program. Yes, the news on this front has not been the best in the recent weeks, but the work has still been put in and the results are fantastic.

Since 247Sports has now analyzed the play from the past high school season, they made one of their final class updated and released their latest Top 247 recruits. Plenty of future Irish stars made their list and you can find out below which ones did and where they ended up.

Notre Dame loses one of their 2023 running back commitments

We wish him the best

Something had to give, as the Irish just accepted their 27th commitment of the class yesterday when Virginia athlete [autotag]Brandyn Hillman[/autotag] announced his commitment. It left many, including myself, how many players [autotag]Marcus Freeman[/autotag] would ultimately sign in the 2023 cycle.

Things have a way of working out and that’s exactly what happened today as Kansas running back [autotag]Dylan Edwards[/autotag] has decommitted from Notre Dame. The back had been committed to the Irish since August and went on to have a very impressive senior campaign and the timing of this decommitment is very odd as Freeman and running backs coach [autotag]Deland McCullough[/autotag] had just visited Edwards earlier in the week.

It’s an unfortunate turn of evens but the Irish aren’t left without other options. They still have [autotag]Jayden Limar[/autotag], Hillman and [autotag]Jeremiyah Love[/autotag] who can all play running back in the class.

Notre Dame adds another commitment to their 2023 recruiting class

The 2023 Irish class grows once again

Just when you thought they were done, the Irish add yet another 2023 prospect to their already impressive recruiting class. After taking a commitment from Texas wide receiver [autotag]Kaleb Smith[/autotag] just under a week ago, to bring the class total to 26, [autotag]Marcus Freeman[/autotag] has added yet another prospect.

Virginia athlete [autotag]Brandyn Hillman[/autotag] is the newest Irish verbal pledge, as he committed over offers from Oklahoma, USC, Tennessee, Kentucky and others. The six-foot-one-inch and 191-pound versatile player took reps at quarterback and defensive back, will most likely end up playing defense when he arrives to South Bend. Hillman brings the class to 27 total players.

After thinking this class was done at 25 prospects, it remains to be seen where Freeman goes from here but what we do know is that this class has loads of talent.

Notre Dame trending for 2023 Missouri athlete, will a commitment follow?

Is the ‘23 class about to grow by one?

It’s been fairly quiet for the Irish on the recruiting trail recently, as their focus has mainly been on the season. That doesn’t mean that the Notre Dame coaching staff isn’t talking with recruits and building relationship.

Case and point with Missouri 2023 athlete [autotag]Jeremiyah Love[/autotag]. During the season, the Irish have only hosted just one prospect on an official visit, California wide receiver [autotag]Taeshaun Lyons[/autotag]. This coming weekend that number should grow a bit with Virginia quarterback [autotag]Brandyn Hillman[/autotag] set to visit South Bend.

However, it’s not Hillman that has a few insiders pondering a verbal, it’s Love who looks to be joining the quarterback on campus this weekend according to this report from 247Sports Tom Loy. Loy, along with Sam Webb, Allen Trieu and Steve Wiltfong all have crystal balled Love to join the 2023 Notre Dame recruiting class.

It remains to be seen when, Loy also notes that he believes that it could very well happen this weekend, but that is still to be determined. What we do know it that it’ does look like the Irish are doing all the right things to ultimately land a verbal from Love.
