Ohio State defensive coach no longer with program

One Ohio State defensive coach is no longer with program #GoBucks

This off-season has been a dramatic one for the Ohio State football coaching staff with the Bill O’Brien era lasting only a few days and then the abrupt spring departure of longtime offensive assistant, Tony Alford. But the chaos continues with pass rush specialist, Brandon Jordan, leaving the Ohio State football program.

His tenure was longer than O’Brien’s but not too much longer as Jordan officially joined the program in February and was present for every spring practice. Expectations were high for him as some thought this could be the heir to the Larry Johnson defensive line throne, but life had other plans. It is not currently known where Jordan is landing next, but we wish him good luck.

In the meantime, the Buckeyes do have a graduate assistant ready to assist Johnson in LaAllan Clark, who has previous experience as a defensive end coach at Southwestern Athletic Conference powerhouse Southern.

Former Michigan State football Pass Rush Specialist coach out at Ohio State after three months

A former MSU football staffer is out after just three months at Ohio State

The saga of Brandon T. Jordan continues. The Pass Rush Specialist who is known for working with some of the top NFL pass rushers in the game like Von Miller and TJ Watt, and had a two-year stint with Michigan State football under Mel Tucker, was let go by Ohio State this week after just three months with the program. The news was first reported by Lettermen Row.

Jordan was one of MSU’s ten official assistant coaches during his time in East Lansing, which allowed him to help recruit. After his tenure with the Spartans, he spent one year in the NFL with the Seattle Seahawks before heading to Columbus.

Ohio State football adds a coach to help Larry Johnson’s defensive line

The Buckeyes add a pass rush specialist from the NFL. #GoBucks

Although Ohio State football defensive line coach Larry Johnson received an extension this month, he is still closer to retirement than he is to staying in Columbus for multiple years.

Head coach Ryan Day knows this and made a move for the future, hiring [autotag]Brandon Jordan[/autotag] away from the Seattle Seahawks. He served as their pass rush specialist this past season. He spent one year with Michigan State in the same role in 2022.

Jordan is originally from Texas but prepped in Merrillville, Indiana. He played collegiately at Illinois, so he has Midwest ties and is viewed as a very good recruiter — although he can’t go on the road in this role.

The hope was Seattle would retain him after Pete Carroll decided to take a management role with the team. Clearly that wasn’t the case: The Seahawks’ loss was the Buckeyes gain.

Seahawks lose pass rush specialist Brandon Jordan to Ohio State

Today the team’s pass rush specialist Brandon Jordan announced that he will be joining Ryan Day at Ohio State.

With the lone exception of Karl Scott staying on as a Senior defensive assistant, the Seahawks have totally blown up former head coach Pete Carroll’s coaching staff.

Today the team’s pass rush specialist Brandon Jordan announced that he will be joining Ryan Day at Ohio State.

Jordan did exceptional work improving Seattle’s pass rush this past season. The development of Boye Mafe in particular should be credited at least in part to Jordan’s coaching.

It’s a tough loss for the Seahawks’ staff. However, fans can rest easy knowing that head coach Mike Macdonald knows pass rushing. When he was defensive coordinator for the Ravens last year they had the league’s best pressure defense by a mile despite having no real stars up front.

Seahawks adding pass rush specialist to Pete Carroll’s staff

They may also need to try things they haven’t on the coaching side, as well.

If the Seahawks defense is ever going to get back to dominant form they’ll need to add some more pass-rushing firepower to their defensive line. They may also need to try things they haven’t before on the coaching side, as well.

On that second note there’s some news to report. According to Bob Condotta at the Seattle Times, the team is expected to hire Michigan State assistant Brandon Jordan to fill a new role on Pete Carroll’s staff: pass rush specialist.

Jordan has previously worked with some Seahawks players as a private coach, but he’ll have his work cut out for him leading the group.

Last season Seattle had decent sack numbers as a team but they also ranked near the bottom in most advanced pass rush metrics. They placed No. 28 in ESPN’s pass rush win rate and also No. 28 in the team pass rush grades from Pro Football Focus.

REPORT: Michigan State football losing pass rush coach Brandon Jordan to Seattle Seahawks

It appears that Michigan State is losing pass rush specialist coach Brandon Jordan to the NFL

According to a report from Jordan Schultz of The Score, Michigan State football will be searching for a new assistant coach. Schultz reported that pass rush specialist Brandon Jordan will be heading to the Seattle Seahawks as their new pass rush specialist coach, the same role he held with the Spartans.

This certainly feels like a blow for MSU on the surface, as Jordan was instrumental in multiple ongoing recruitment efforts. However, Diron Reynolds is the newly appointed defensive line coach and has a great reputation.
