Four-star defensive lineman Brandon Davis-Swain puts Auburn in top group

The Tigers are a finalist for one of the top defensive linemen in the 2024 recruiting class.

[autotag]Brandon Davis-Swain[/autotag] is one of the top defensive linemen in the country and on Monday he narrowed his recruitment to 11 schools. He announced the news on Twitter and the Auburn Tigers made the cut.

They will be battling Purdue, Penn State, Michigan, Colorado, Pittsburgh, Tennessee, Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Kentucky, and USC, for the four-star prospect.

The 6-foot-4, 240-pound defender was previously committed to Notre Dame before backing off his pledge on Dec. 11, 2022. The Tigers offered him a scholarship on Jan. 10.

He is the No. 91 overall player and No. 12 defensive lineman in the 247Sports Composite ranking. He is also the No. 4 player from Michigan in the 2024 recruiting class.

Davis-Swain had a dominant junior season for West Bloomfield High School, making 62 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, and 12 sacks.

Notre Dame loses one of their 2024 commitments

It was not meant to be

The Irish were off to a fast and impressive start, seven commitments until today. Their first verbal pledge was Michigan defensive end, [autotag]Brandon Davis-Swain[/autotag], will never make it to South Bend.

The 2024 pass rusher had been flirting with other schools, recently a trip to [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] in early November and him tweeting out an offer from [autotag]Wisconsin[/autotag], who recently just hired former [autotag]Cincinnati[/autotag] head coach [autotag]Luke Fickell[/autotag].

As we all know, where there’s smoke, there’s fire and Davis-Swain has made the decision to decommit from Notre Dame and re-open his recruitment. The timing is a bit odd, especially after he recently tagged Irish commit [autotag]CJ Carr[/autotag] in a tweet.

The Irish still have a very solid group of committed prospects in their 2024 class, led by Carr. It remains to be seen if Marcus Freeman will try and get Davis-Swain back into the fold.

Notre Dame welcomes in 2024 Michigan lineman this weekend

The list grows

You can add another name to the list of recruits that will be in South Bend this weekend as the Irish host Stanford. Michigan 2024 offensive lineman [autotag]Andrew “AJ” Dennis[/autotag] announced via his Twitter that he will be on campus to catch the action.

The six-foot-four-inch and 255-pound lineman recently visited Miami, OH and has been in communication with Kentucky, Toledo, and Western Michigan among others. While Dennis holds just a few MAC offers, this recruitment looks like one that the Irish was keeping a close eye on. With another year of development, it seems like Irish offensive line coach  [autotag]Harry Hiestand [/autotag]wants to have a relationship built in case Dennis take big step forward in his play.

Currently, Notre Dame has six commitments in the 2024 recruiting cycle, headline by five-star Michigan quarterback [autotag]CJ Carr[/autotag]. The Irish also have another Michigan star, defensive lineman [autotag]Brandon Davis-Swain[/autotag], verbally committed in the class.

Is Ohio State trying to flip Notre Dame commits and more recruiting news

Interesting news here….

The Irish faced off against Ohio State in the season opener and it didn’t go as many of us would have liked, with Notre Dame falling 21-10 to the Buckeyes in Columbus. Not only were there ramifications on the field but off them as well, specifically on the recruiting trail. Both Midwest powers go after plenty of the same prospects so it would make sense if the Irish or Buckeyes would try and take each other’s prospects.

247Sports recruiting guru Bill Kurelic recently broached the topic of the Buckeyes trying to flip some Irish commits (subscription required) and here are the details of the report.

Illinois 2024 Notre Dame target set to announce commitment tomorrow

Will the Irish be happy tomorrow?

The time has come for suburban Chicago wide receiver [autotag]Cam Williams[/autotag] to make his verbal pledge. Having known Williams since his freshman year, I can attest that his skill level is high and will be an impact player at the next level.

Not only have I seen Williams in camp settings, but also in-game where his skill set really shined. An extremely smooth route running, with great hands and body control, the six-foot-two-inch receiver will be an asset for either Iowa, Wisconsin, Cincinnati, Michigan or Notre Dame. Williams will go live on CBS Sports HQ to announce his verbal pledge, at 8:00pm EST.

Currently the Irish have four commitments for the 2024 recruiting class: quarterback [autotag]CJ Carr[/autotag], defensive ends [autotag]Brandon Davis-Swain[/autotag] and [autotag]Owen Wafle[/autotag], and tight end [autotag]Jack Larsen[/autotag].

Top 2024 Florida wide receiver sets visit date to Notre Dame

The Irish are getting a Florida star on campus next month

Recruiting never sleeps, it just doesn’t. For [autotag]Marcus Freeman[/autotag] and Notre Dame, they are taking full advantage of momentum on the recruiting trail, having a stellar 2023 class and a fantastic start to the 2024 cycle.

The current crop of soon to be juniors are starting their evaluations of schools and the Irish are among many of their top choices. Already defensive ends [autotag]Brandon Davis-Swain[/autotag] and [autotag]Owen Wafle[/autotag] have committed, with Freeman looking too continue to add on to the class.

With that in mind the Irish got some great news this afternoon, as Florida wide receiver [autotag]Bredell Richardson[/autotag] has set a date for an unofficial visit to South Bend.

The six-foot-one-inch and 185-pound Sunshine State star already hold over 40 verbal offers from schools like Alabama, LSU, Penn State and of course Notre Dame. It does seem like Richardson is making a Midwest tour, as he also announced a visit to Michigan also on June 3rd.

Reading into the schedule visits, it may seem like Richardson is a bit higher on the Irish at the moment, spending a day-and-a-half there. Time will tell if that is the right read, but at the current moment it looks like the Irish have a lot of time to wow Richardson during his visit.

Tennessee 2024 cornerback will visit Notre Dame in June

The Irish are getting an unofficial

The 2024 recruiting class is still a ways from their signing day, but that doesn’t mean that teams and recruits are waiting to make decisions. The Irish already have two commitments in that cycle, defensive end’s [autotag] Brandon Davis-Swain[/autotag] and [autotag]Owen Wafle[/autotag].

[autotag]Marcus Freeman[/autotag] has been great during his tenure on the recruiting trail and it seems like that is not going to stop anytime soon. Yet another example of this is ‘24 cornerback [autotag]Kaleb Beasley[/autotag], a six-foot-two-inch and 180-pound cornerback who holds offers from the Irish, Georgia, Michigan, Oklahoma, LSU, Auburn and others announcing today that he will be visiting South Bend on June 5th.

The Tennessee star is not going to be easy to get out of SEC country, but the Irish are making an impression with Beasley. They are one of two non-SEC teams currently on his visit list, the other being Oklahoma. It is still early, but Notre Dame getting a visit is definitely a good sign.
