Chicago Bulls Injury Report vs. Suns: Alex Caruso, Patrick Williams both probable; Bradley Beal questionable; Devin Booker out

Check out the injury report for the Chicago Bulls ahead of their contest vs. the Phoenix Suns.

The Chicago Bulls will take on the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday night. Lonzo Ball is obviously still on the injury report, but a few of his teammates will join him on the list. Alex Caruso and Patrick Williams are both PROBABLE to play, while all three of Chicago’s two-way players – Onrulap Bitim, Justin Lewis, and Adama Sanogo – will be unavailable as they are with the G League.

Caruso is currently dealing with a right elbow sprain, while Williams is recovering from a left finger sprain. Both players appeared in the Bulls’ last game against the San Antonio Spurs, and they were both listed on the injury report ahead of that game as well.

Meanwhile, the Suns are dealing with some injuries as well. Devin Booker remains OUT for the game against the Bulls. However, Bradley Beal has been upgraded to QUESTIONABLE ahead of the contest.

Beal has yet to appear in a game for the Suns this year after joining the team via trade this offseason.

Booker is currently recovering from a right calf strain, and Beal is dealing with lower back spasms.

Should Beal make his return against the Bulls, it would be a major test for a Chicago team looking to build off their latest win. After getting blown out by the Denver Nuggets, the Bulls destroyed the Utah Jazz on Monday, and they will undoubtedly be hoping to keep up the momentum they gained.

With Booker out for Phoenix, the Bulls should look to take advantage of the opportunity.

Report: Bradley Beal unavailable for Thursday vs. Spurs, Devin Booker unknown

Ahead of the San Antonio Spurs game against the Phoenix Suns on Thursday, updates on Devin Booker and Bradley Beal have surfaced.

Phoenix Suns star Bradley Beal will not be available for Thursday’s game against the Phoenix Suns. A report from Gerald Bourguet of PHNX Sports revealed that the new Suns, who has yet to make his debut, will be out, along with Damion Lee. That said, there is hope that his co-star could make an appearance.

Bourguet also noted that the Suns upgraded Devin Booker’s status to questionable. He missed Phoenix’s game on Wednesday against the Spurs, which they ended up losing by one point in the final moments of the contest. Booker has not played since the Suns’ season opener.

After the Suns’ loss on Wednesday, head coach Frank Vogel was unclear as to when the two stars would be back.

Bradley Beal and Devin Booker won’t play for Suns against Lakers on Thursday

The Suns will be very shorthanded when they play the Lakers at Crypto.com Arena on Thursday.

The Los Angeles Lakers lost their regular-season opener on Tuesday at the defending NBA champion Denver Nuggets, and they look to get their first win of the 2023-24 campaign on Thursday when they host the Phoenix Suns.

It will be a marquee matchup. LeBron James will go head-to-head against Kevin Durant in a regular season game for the first time since Christmas Day 2018.

Over the last several months, the Suns have assembled a collection of stars by making multiple trades. Durant arrived in February, and over the summer, they traded for three-time All-Star guard Bradley Beal. Both will join Devin Booker, who is also a three-time All-Star.

However, neither Beal nor Booker will play on Thursday against the Purple and Gold.

With Phoenix shorthanded, this will be an excellent opportunity for the Lakers to not only win but to win by a wide margin and start to prove that they could end up winning the world title this season.

Injury Report: Suns’ Bradley Beal (back) unlikely to play on opening night vs. Warriors

While the Warriors will be without Draymond Green, the Suns could reportedly be missing a key piece in the backcourt on opening night.

While the Golden State Warriors will be without Draymond Green on opening night due to an ankle injury, the Phoenix Suns also could be missing a key piece for the first game of the regular season on Tuesday.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, new Suns guard Bradley Beal is unlikely to play against the Warriors on Tuesday due to a back injury.

Via @ShamsCharania on Twitter:

In addition to Beal, star guard Devin Booker is listed as questionable on the injury report due to a toe injury. His status for Tuesday night is still unclear.

Beal arrived in Phoenix via a blockbuster trade with the Washington Wizards at the start of the offseason. Beal spent 11 seasons with the Wizards, earning three All-Star appearances. The 30-year-old guard played 50 games last season, averaging 23.2 points per game.

Without Beal, the Suns will lean on Grayson Allen and Eric Gordon in the backcourt on Tuesday night. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. PT in San Francisco.

Bradley Beal says he checked in with the Brooklyn Nets before Suns trade

Phoenix Suns guard Bradley Beal said that before his trade to the Suns that he reached out to a few teams, including the Brooklyn Nets.

The Brooklyn Nets are moving on from their superstar era that was led by Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and James Harden. However, going into this season, they were initially a team that Damian Lillard was interested in being traded to and now, there is another star player who admitted to having interest in playing for the Nets before his trade.

In an article by Marc J. Spears of Andscape, Phoenix Suns guard Bradley Beal gives the first installment of his diary, telling Spears what is transition from the Washington Wizards to the Suns has been like. Beal gives the reader a behind-the-scenes look at why Beal waived his no-trade clause to go to Phoenix.

In the midst of explaining his decision to go to Phoenix, Beal mentions that losing in Washington was hard for him to do because of his competitiveness. He also pointed out that he reached out to several teams in the league, including the Nets, to see which teams were interested in trading for his services as told to Spears:

“So, my initial favorite was Miami. And so, we call Miami. [Miami president] Pat [Riley] says well I’ll go talk to [owner] Micky [Arison] and figure it out. So he goes, talks to Micky, we go, we hear back [New York] Knicks, Sacramento, Brooklyn a little bit, and then it was Milwaukee and it was one more big team … And that was kind of one of the most difficult things about every trade and every team. And I respect and love every team, but a lot of them just couldn’t do it because the money was just so high.”

Bradley Beal wanted the Heat to trade for him but Miami weirdly refused to make a deal

Pat Riley and the Heat have had a really rough summer

The Miami Heat really fumbled things this offseason. There’s no other way to put it here.

Obviously, the Heat missed out on Damian Lillard despite the guard making his intentions clear after he requested a trade from the Portland Trail Blazers. All Miami had to do was come up with a suitable offer that the Trail Blazers liked and they just couldn’t do it.

Now, Lillard is a Milwaukee Buck. Gabe Vincent — the Heat’s starting point guard from last season — is a Laker. And an aging Kyle Lowry will probably be slotted into that starting spot for the Heat this season —tough break.

But what if I told you that break gets even tougher? What if Damian Lillard wasn’t the only guard the Heat failed the make a move on.

Apparently, Bradley Beal wanted to join up with Jimmy Butler and the Heat before he was traded to the Phoenix Suns.

Beal told Andscape’s Marc Spears that Miami was his initial favorite trade destination before the Suns swooped in and picked Beal up.

Heat fans, I’m sorry. Take a look at this:

“So, my initial favorite was Miami. And so, we call Miami. [Miami president] Pat [Riley] says well I’ll go talk to [owner] Micky [Arison] and figure it out. So he goes, talks to Micky, we go, we hear back [New York] Knicks, Sacramento, Brooklyn a little bit, and then it was Milwaukee and it was one more big team … And that was kind of one of the most difficult things about every trade and every team. And I respect and love every team, but a lot of them just couldn’t do it because the money was just so high.

I’m like, ‘OK, what’s Miami doing? Dragging feet.’ And eventually it came to a point to where Miami said they just can’t do it. But it was an eye-opener for sure. And that’s why I said I went into everything kind of open-minded and with an open slate. And out of nowhere here comes a dark horse in Phoenix and their aggressiveness pushed me over the top.”

Yikes, man. That is not a good look.

It’s reasonable to assume that Miami was probably trying to hold on to the trade pieces it had so it could still acquire Damian Lillard. Remember, Beal’s trade happened well before the Lillard actually asked out of Portland. It was hard to predict that sort of thing.

But, still. The Heat completely fumbled the bag twice this season when faced with a chance to add an All-Star talent to its roster. It waited too long with Lillard.

With Beal, it just seems like Miami didn’t think he was that good. ESPN’s Zach Lowe said on his podcast last week the Heat just didn’t see Beal as “$30 million more than Tyler Herro” good over the next few years, which is reasonable if you’re a team that isn’t necessarily trying to win a championship now. But the Heat are. And Miami needs all the talent it can get.

Clearly, it missed out on a lot this summer. And there’s not really any way to make it up. This might be a rough season in Miami.

The 20 highest paid NBA players in 2023-24, led by Steph Curry

A list of the highest paid NBA players this upcoming season.

It is true that Jaylen Brown signed the richest contract in NBA history this offseason, inking a 5-year supermax extension worth more than $300 million with the Boston Celtics. However, that deal won’t make him the highest paid player this season.

Because Brown’s extension doesn’t kick in until next year, his base salary actually barely cracks the top 50 of highest paid players in 2023-24, according to data from Spotrac.

The players set to make the most money this season are still (mostly) the players fans would expect to be making the most. Below is a look at the top 20 base salaries in the NBA.

Ranking the NBA’s 10 best star trios (now including Dame, Giannis and Middleton)

Can anyone compete with the defending champs?

You need a lot of star power on your roster in order to win a championship in the NBA and several teams just added significant talent.

As the offseason ended, the Bucks traded for Damian Lillard while the Celtics added Jrue Holiday. Earlier this offseason, meanwhile, the Suns added Bradley Beal to a lineup that already had Kevin Durant and Devin Booker. But how do these revamped contenders stack up with the league’s top three-man lineups?

Many publications have ranked the best duos in the NBA — which you can read here, here, here or here. But we wanted to look at the best star trios in the league right now. Here is what we concluded:

Note: Net rating is how many points per 100 possession each team has outscored opponents when these three players are on the court at the same time.

WATCH: Former Badgers guard goes over rookie year

Johnny Davis on his rookie year

Former Badgers standout guard Johnny Davis sat down with Wes Hall of Monumental Sports Network to discuss his 2022-2023 rookie campaign with the Wizards.

After being selected 10th overall in the 2022 NBA Draft by Washington, it took Davis a little time to adjust to his new life, especially his growing family as he welcomed the birth of his first child.

In his rookie season, Davis appeared in 28 games, averaging 5.8 points and 2.3 rebounds while playing 15.1 minutes per game, but he finished the season with an especially strong stretch.

He started the last five games, averaging 17.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 1.4 steals and 0.8 blocks while playing 36 minutes per contest.

Now with Bradley Beal in Phoenix and Kristaps Porzingis with the Celtics, Davis could be amongst those that step into larger roles in 2023.

Celtics HoFer Kevin Garnett on who drives the Phoenix Suns’ bus this season

If you ask Garnett which of the Phoenix Suns’ star players is the leader of the team, it won’t take The Big Ticket long to answer.

If you ask Hall of Fame Boston Celtics big man Kevin Garnett which of the Phoenix Suns’ star players is the leader of the team, it won’t take The Big Ticket long to answer — Devin Booker. On a recent episode of the Showtime Basketball “KG Certified” podcast, Garnett emphasized that Booker is the primary focal point of the team despite the addition of such luminary names as Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal, as well as the presence of former No. 1 pick of the 2018 NBA draft, Deandre Ayton.

A traditional post-up style might not be suitable for the Suns’ fast-paced, dynamic offensive strategy according to KG, who suggests Ayton become a versatile player, stretching the floor with 3-pointers and contributing as a screener and roller.
