Bellator 300 gains: What all 32 fighters weighed on fight night

Find out how much weight all 32 fighters at Bellator 300 gained from the Friday morning official weigh-ins to Saturday night fights.

In California, fighters have their weights checked on the day of competition – not just when they have to hit their marks on the scale.

In 2017, the California State Athletic Commission put a plan in place to try to cut back on excessive weight cutting. Within those rules was a cap on how much a fighter could gain from the official weigh-ins to the fight.

If a fighter gained more than 10 percent back before the bout, the commission then could make a recommendation that he or she move to a higher weight class. If a fighter gained more than 15 percent, the commission had plans in place to potentially cancel fights.

At Bellator 300, which took place this past Saturday in San Diego, 14 of the 32 fighters on the card gained more than 10 percent of their weight back. Three of those 14 exceeded the 15 percent threshold. MMA Junkie obtained a list of fight-night weights Monday from the CSAC.

Bellator 300 post-event facts: Cris Cyborg upgrades already legendary resume

Bobby Seronio III loving his early Bellator success, but wants to branch out from California

Bobby Seronio III has been a pro fighter for a couple years, and there are two things that have been constants: Bellator and California.

SAN DIEGO – [autotag]Bobby Seronio III[/autotag] has been a pro fighter for a couple years, and there are two things that have been constants: Bellator, and California.

Seronio’s first three fights have been for Bellator – a TKO and a pair of decisions – and all three have taken place in his home state of California. And that’s all well and good, but the 25-year-old from Vallejo wouldn’t mind getting to travel a little bit, too.

Seronio talked about that and more at Thursday’s Bellator 300 media day in San Diego.

Bellator 277 video: Bobby Seronio III sends San Jose into frenzy with crazy, awkward knockout of Calob Ramirez

Bobby Seronio has some hands, folks.

SAN JOSE, Calif. – [autotag]Bobby Seronio III[/autotag] is pegged by some as the next Bellator prospect to watch out of the promotion’s home city.

At Bellator 277, Seronio (2-0 MMA, 2-0 BMMA) knocked out opponent Calob Ramirez (1-2 MMA, 0-1 BMMA) with a series of punches at 2:14 of Round 2. The fight was the seventh Friday on the prelims at SAP Center.

The finish was unusual, awkward, and definitely violent. A beautifully-timed counter straight right-hand sent Ramirez into a place between consciousness and unconsciousness. The dark seemed to overtake the light, as Ramirez dropped to his knees, turned around, and was met with a shot that definitively put him to sleep.

The highlight sent the San Jose crowd into a frenzy, a place Seronio III brought things to in both of his professional outings. The win makes it two-for-two for Seronio, who thrilled fans with a back-and-forth war at Bellator 266 in September against Socrates Hernandez that earned him a unanimous decision. That fight scored him a multifight deal with Bellator, a rarity for a fighter with just one pro fight.

Bellator 277 salaries: A.J. McKee, Patricio Freire lead the pack of guaranteed purses

At Bellator 277, A.J. McKee, Patricio Freire, Vadim Nemkov, and Corey Anderson are set to lead disclosed fighter payouts.

SAN JOSE, Calif – Bellator 277 takes place Friday at SAP Center where three fighters are scheduled to take home six-figure paydays regardless of outcome.

At the 14-fight event, MMA Junkie acquired a list of disclosed salaries from California State Athletic Commission executive director Andy Foster.

In the main event, champion [autotag]A.J. McKee[/autotag] and former champion [autotag]Patricio Freire[/autotag] square off in a title rematch. Both fighters had a disclosed payday of $250,000 flat. The co-main event is a grand prix final. Light heavyweight champion Vadim Nemkov (on an $80,000 to show/$80,000 to win basis) and Corey Anderson ($250,000 flat) will collide with the winner making an additional $1 million.

Bellator 266 salaries: Yoel Romero leads disclosed payouts despite promotional debut loss

Yoel Romero lost his Bellator debut – but was still compensated the highest amount of anyone on the card.

Bellator 266 is in the books and although [autotag]Phil Davis[/autotag] was the victorious half of the main event, he didn’t receive the highest disclosed payout according to the event’s commissioning body.

While Davis (23-6 MMA, 10-3 BMMA) pocketed a $100,000 flat salary for his three-round split decision, his opponent [autotag]Yoel Romero[/autotag] (13-6 MMA, 0-1 BMMA) earned $150,000 in defeat. The fight was Romero’s promotional debut with Bellator and his first bout since his UFC departure in 2020.

MMA Junkie acquired a full list of Bellator 266 payouts Wednesday from California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) executive director Andy Foster. The amounts include win and show purses, but do not account for any discretionary bonuses.

Bellator 266 took place Saturday at SAP Center in San Jose, Calif. The main card aired on Showtime after prelims on MMA Junkie.

In the main event, [autotag]Yoel Romero[/autotag] (13-5 MMA, 0-0 BMMA) finally will make his Bellator debut when he takes on former light heavyweight champion [autotag]Phil Davis[/autotag] (22-6 MMA, 9-3 BMMA).

Romero signed with Bellator in December 2020 after a seven-year run with the UFC. He was booked to make his promotional debut against Anthony Johnson to open the Bellator light heavyweight grand prix in May, but was forced to withdraw because of concerns over his eye following a pre-fight medical exam.

Romero, 44, hasn’t fought since March 2020 when he dropped a unanimous decision to UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya at UFC 248, which marked his third consecutive loss. His other two defeats in the skid came against Robert Whittaker and Paulo Costa. Romero hasn’t won since a February 2018 knockout of Luke Rockhold at UFC 221.

Davis is coming off an April unanimous decision loss to champion Vadim Nemkov in the Bellator light heavyweight grand prix, which snapped a three-fight winning streak.
