Why Buffalo Bills Will Win

The Bills are getting a special run out of Josh Allen.

The Buffalo running game hasn’t done enough, there are too many turnovers, and the defense hasn’t been great against the pass, but the Bills are on a strong three-game winning streak and would be on a seven-game run if it wasn’t for the Hail Mary loss to Arizona.

Denver pulled off a great game from Drew Lock and the offense in a win over Carolina, but the run defense isn’t doing enough, there are WAY too many interceptions, and Allen is playing out of his mind.

Why Denver Broncos Will Win

Can Buffalo really keep playing at this high level?

It had the big performance against San Francisco on the road, and then it came up with a brilliant Sunday night performance against Pittsburgh – it’s overdue to start struggling.

The Denver defense is decent on third won and it’s going to catch a big break against the run. If Allen isn’t red hot, and if the Denver offense goes off at home, this could be one of those games that things just click at home.

Fantasy Football Player To Watch

QB Josh Allen, Buffalo
He has one touchdown run over the last four games and not enough yards to matter, but he hit 80% of his passes against San Francisco with four touchdowns, and he threw for 238 yards and two score against the nasty Pittsburgh D – he played better than the stats against the Steelers. Denver’s pass defense has been ripped over the last two weeks, and it’s about to get pushed again.

What’s Going To Happen

Buffalo is going to dominate the turnover battle, and that’s what it needs on the road.

Denver hasn’t forced a takeaway in two weeks and has just two in the last five games. Buffalo has forced two takeaways or more in four of the last five games, and Denver is a – pun sort of intended – lock to give it away at least twice.

The Bills elevated offensive lineman Jonotthan Harrison from their practice squad ahead of their Week 15 meeting with the Denver Broncos. The team announced the move on Friday, one day prior to the flexed Saturday kickoff.

Harrison, 29, appeared in all 16 games for the Jets last season, making 10 starts. He has 42 starts in his career. Primarily a center, Harrison has also played guard.

After being cut by the Jets prior to the 2020 season, he signed with Buffalo via their practice squad. He has yet to appear in a game with the team this year.

Despite Harrison’s callup, it could just be a depth move. On the Bills’ final injury report this week, Buffalo did not have any offensive line in jeopardy of missing Week 15’s game.

Last weekend, guard Ike Boettger did struggle against the Pittsburgh Steelers’ Cameron Heyward on Buffalo’s offensive line in what was his fourth-career start. There is no official word on whether or not Harrison would actually see any playing time over the likes of Boettger or Brian Winters, who also has seen playing time in 2020 on the Bills’ O-line.

Another possibility is Lee Smith. The tight end is listed as questionable with a knee injury and is primarily used as a blocker

Why Josh Allen won’t struggle with Denver elevation vs. Broncos

Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen and the elevation at Mile High in Denver vs. the Broncos in Week 15.

Whenever a game at Empower Field at Mile High in Denver comes across the schedule, it’s the same old story. But the elevation change is legitimate and the name “Mile High” is accurate.

Denver is known for its elevation, especially in comparison to other NFL cities. The elevation and change in altitude is certainly felt by athletes who aren’t used to playing in the area because of the lower oxygen levels in the air. The lungs feel it.

While he’s currently not playing in such conditions in Buffalo, there’s at least one player on the Bills that’s probably not going to have a problem making the adjustment because he’s done it before – and then some.

Bills quarterback Josh Allen took the scenic route to the NFL, playing at the University of Wyoming. There, the elevation is actually much higher than Denver, even. WGR-550 Bills reporter Sal Capaccio brought that point up earlier this week:

In fact, Wyoming’s Jonah Field at War Memorial Stadium is even higher, at 7,220 feet. Maybe Allen has a couple of pointers for some of his teammates on how to handle the conditions?

At a minimum, head coach Sean McDermott pointed out earlier this week that the Bills are heading out to Denver on Friday. The team will have at least a day to adjust to the change.

Broncos cancel Friday walk-thru practice prior to Bills meeting due to COVID

Buffalo Bills Week 15 opponent, the Denver Broncos, cancel their Friday practice prior to Saturday Week 15 meeting.

The Denver Broncos canceled Friday’s walkthrough practice after a staff member tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of their meeting with the Buffalo Bills, the team announced.

According to Broncos Wire, a team strength and conditioning coach, Loren Landow, was the person to contract COVID-19. The Broncos (5-8) will now conduct some final preps for the Bills (10-3) remotely.

At the time of this writing, Saturday’s game against the Broncos is still on. Denver has been playing without fans in attendance since late November in an effort to help slow the spread of the coronavirus.

Denver currently has one player on the Reserve/COVID-19 list: kicker Brandon McManus. He’s not expected to play against the Bills in Week 15.

Check back at Bills Wire for any updates concerning Saturday’s game.

Bills at Broncos: 3 key matchups in Week 15

Buffalo Bills, Denver Broncos key matchups ahead of Week 15.

Win and into the postseason for the Buffalo Bills and win and into the AFC East title for the first time since 1995. While that’s got a very different feeling to it, things will still be the same as usual at Mile High.

With that, here are three key matchups to watch in Saturday’s Bills-Broncos meeting in Week 15:

Bills at Broncos: 7 things to watch for and a prediction

Buffalo Bills, Denver Broncos things to watch for and prediction ahead of Week 15.

The Buffalo Bills under Sean McDermott & Co. have had a knack for being streak-busters. Another can end on Saturday as they head to Denver to take on the Broncos.

Is Saturday the time? We’ll get to that in our prediction at the end, but on your scroll down there, here are seven things to watch for (& that prediction) ahead of Week 15’s Bills-Steelers meeting:

Broncos want to mimic this part of Josh Allen’s development with Drew Lock

Denver Broncos head coach Vic Fangio compares Josh Allen, Drew Lock prior to Week 15.

[jwplayer RqVahnVr-ThvAeFxT]

Ahead of their meeting with the Buffalo Bills, the Denver Broncos know a force of nature is coming toward them and its name is Josh Allen.

The Bills quarterback is having nothing short of a breakdown year and is a big reason why Buffalo is 10-3 heading into Denver. At 5-8, the Broncos have had their struggles and hope their young QB, Drew Lock, can have a similar future.

In breaking down Allen’s ascension, Broncos head coach Vic Fangio discussed what is perhaps an under the surface reason for Allen’s successes. While Allen himself has put in the work, he’s had help, and perhaps most importantly, the same helpers.

During his entire NFL career to this point, Allen’s offensive coordinator has been Brian Daboll. Fangio thinks keeping the same pieces around Buffalo’s QB is an example of why it’s important for Denver to do the same.

“There’s no doubt about it that continuity, especially as it relates to a quarterback, can have tremendous positive affect with a lot of the successful quarterbacks,” Fangio said via video conference this week. “You see it time and time again when the continuity pays off when the players develop better, particularly the quarterback and hopefully we’ll be able to do that Drew.”

“He’s having a hell of a season,” Fangio added on Allen. “The guy has emerged as one of the top quarterbacks in the league.”

Currently the Broncos have Pat Shurmur as their offensive coordinator. As it was for so many years in Buffalo during their team’s playoff drought, the OC position is currently a topic of discussion for Broncos fans. Are they moving in the right direction? Clearly their head coach thinks so, and believes making changes won’t help.

And while not pulling any strings or having a say in the slightest in what happens in Denver, Allen himself thinks keeping pieces in place in 2021 would be smart for the Broncos. Allen admitted via video conference this week that his own development could’ve gone much different if things were changed around too much.

“I mean I definitely think it would’ve made it more difficult. Having the same verbiage and the same concepts and that type of relationship I’ve had with Daboll, it’s been extremely helpful,” Allen said. “Scheme-wise, knowing my protections and knowing the concepts that I like, Daboll, understanding the concepts that I don’t like, and… yeah. If we had to switch it up, it’d be tough. Nobody likes learning a new systems, especially if you feel comfortable in the one you’re in now.”
