A pre-Lincoln Riley Era and one from under the tutelage of Riley will be teammates in Buffalo.

The Buffalo Bills announced on Thursday afternoon that former Oklahoma offensive lineman Daryl Williams has signed a one-year deal with the franchise.

Williams got to Oklahoma in 2010 and became a starter by the ’12 season. He started for current offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh during his first two years in 2013 and ’14. The Lake Dallas, Texas, product was drafted by the Carolina Panthers in the fourth round of the 2015 NFL Draft.

The former Sooner offensive lineman played both guard positions and at right tackle for the Panthers during his five years with the team. Williams will join Cody Ford in Buffalo, who is coming off a rookie season where he started in 15 of 16 games he played.

With the Panthers, he earned second-team All-Pro in 2017 and was a part of the 2015 team that went to the Super Bowl. During his time at Oklahoma, Williams was a part of the offensive line that helped Samaje Perine break the NCAA single-game rushing record with 427 yards.

Bill Bedenbaugh, Alex Grinch named among top-15 assistant coaches in college football

A list recently released by 247sports has two Oklahoma coaches listed among the top 15 assistant coaches in the nation.

When it comes to quality coaching and development, no one quite does it like Oklahoma’s Bill Bedenbaugh and Alex Grinch.

A list recently released by 247sports has the Sooners’ coaches listed among the top-15 assistant coaches in the nation.

Lincoln Riley gets most of the credit for Oklahoma’s offense, but Bedenbaugh is owed his fair share. As the Sooners co-offensive coordinator and offensive line coach, Bedenbaugh has helped carry on the power-run game that Oklahoma has used to dominate for decades.

Bedenbaugh has helped mold several linemen into NFL prospects in recent years. Cody Ford, Orlando Brown, Bobby Evans, Ben Powers, Dru Samia, and Daryl Williams are all the current Sooners in the NFL that were coached by Bedenbaugh. Rodney Anderson, Samaje Perine and Joe Mixon are current RB’s to have lined up behind his unit.

Alex Grinch has helped the Sooners tremendously is his first season, just as he did Washington State. Grinch improved the Sooners total defense ranking from 101 in 2018, to No. 64 in 2019. While his turnover greedy ways didn’t quite catch on in year one, the mentality switch was visible.

Under Grinch, Kenneth Murray and Neville Gallimore are participating in this year’s NFL Combine and are considered top prospects in this year’s draft. Parnell Motley was snubbed from the NFL Combine, but could hear his name called in the NFL Draft as well.

Bill Bedenbaugh named one of the top-25 recruiters of 2020 by Rivals

The glue of Oklahoma football receives some recognition. Bedenbaugh was named one of the top-25 recruiters in college football for 2020.

The glue of Oklahoma football receives some recognition.

Offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh has turned the Sooners’ offensive line room into one of the more respected offensive line rooms in all of football regardless of level.

His development is the main reason for that, the other is for recruiting and landing the best talent among the offensive line in the country.

Bedenbaugh was named one of the top-25 recruiters in college football for the 2020 recruiting class by Rivals on Friday.

“Already a multiple winner of this award, Bedenbaugh makes the top 25 again with an outstanding haul of five four-star offensive linemen, four of which are in the Rivals250,” wrote Rivals’ recruiting analyst Josh Helmholdt. “What makes this 2020 group so impressive is that Oklahoma’s offensive line coach went into Washington D.C. – not exactly a recruiting hotbed for the Sooners – to grab a pair of four-star offensive tackles in Aaryn Parks and Anton Harrison. The other four-star offensive linemen in this class came from Arizona, Texas and, finally, from the Sooners’ own back yard with Tulsa-area offensive guard Andrew Raym, the top-ranked player in-state for the 2020 recruiting cycle.”

Bedenbaugh is already out ahead for the 2021 recruiting class with one commitment in three-star tackle Cullen Montgomery.

Oklahoma’s Creed Humphrey named to ESPN’s way-too-early All-America team

Oklahoma has had a ton of turnover offensively over the past three seasons, but there has been one constant.

Oklahoma has had a ton of turnover offensively over the past three seasons, but there has been one constant.

Center Creed Humphrey was one of two Big 12 players named to ESPN’s 2020 way-too-early All-American team alongside Oklahoma State running back Chuba Hubbard.

Humphrey has been the anchor of not just the offensive line, but the entire offense. The 2019 Remington Award finalist has strung together 28 straight starts since his snap count officially began in 2018.

Humphrey has become one of the most reliable offensive linemen in college football while also solidifying Oklahoma as one of the few schools that can claim ‘Linemen U’.

Humphrey considered leaving for the 2020 NFL Draft as there was speculation on whether he should leave early or not. Humphrey decided to stay and has an opportunity to not only be the number one center taken in the 2021 NFL Draft but has an opportunity to block for possibly another generational talent at quarterback.

Claiming the No. 14 2020 class in the nation, Oklahoma has nine commits and signees inside the Rivals 250.

AARON PARKS–NO. 69

The 6-foot-5, 294-pound offensive tackle slid three spots from his No. 66 position due more to others excelling and less about his own digression. Parks is the No. 10 overall tackle in the 2020 class and is the No. 5 prospect from Maryland. Parks signed with the Sooners during the early signing period.

REGGIE GRIMES–NO. 142

Oklahoma’s highest-rated defensive prospect comes in at No. 142. Grimes is a four-star defensive end from Brentwood, Tenn. Grimes chose the Sooners over Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, and LSU. Grimes is the fourth-ranked defensive end in the nation. Grimes has yet to sign with the Sooners but is expected to make his verbal commitment official during the late signing period.

ANTON HARRISON–NO. 165

Harrison makes one of the bigger jumps through the rankings in the Rivals 250. Bolting up 45 spots to land at No. 165, Harrison already looks to be in prime shape for Oklahoma. Standing 6-foot-5 and weighing in at 332 pounds, the four-star offensive tackle is a block of clay ready to be molded by Bill Bedenbaugh. Harrison signed with the Sooners during the early signing period.

NATE ANDERSON–NO. 169

Adding to Bedenbaugh’s stockpile of linemen is four-star tackle from Frisco, Texas, Nate Anderson. Anderson stands 6-foot-5 and comes in at an agile 260 pounds. Anderson signed with the Sooners in December.

SETH MCGOWAN–NO. 174

The first skill position player for Oklahoma is a running back from Mesquite, Texas. McGowan is a four-star running back and chose the Sooners over Alabama, Baylor, LSU, and Texas. McGowan signed with Oklahoma in December.

BRYSON WASHINGTON–NO. 190

Washington, a four-star safety, jumped up one spot to take over No. 190 int eh Rivals 250. The 6-foot-3 safety is exactly what Alex Grinch wants in his secondary: speed and length. Washington may very well get an early opportunity with the departures of defenders over the past few weeks.

ANDREW RAYM–NO. 227

Oklahoma’s No. 1 in-state prospect stays home. Raym signed with the Sooners back in December and rounds out a fantastic offensive line class constructed by Bedenbaugh. Standing 6-foot-4 and 285 pounds, Raym will be making the move from tackle to guard when he steps on campus.

marvin mims–no. 247

Arguably the greatest high school wide receiver in the history of Texas high school football is making his way to Norman, Okla. Mims holds both the Texas state and national records for most receiving yards in a season and surpassed former Texas Longhorn, Jordan Shipley for career receiving yards in the state of Texas.

JALIN CONYERS–NO. 249

Sneaking into the Rivals 250, moving up one spot is four-star tight end, Jalin Conyers. Conyers comes in at 6-foot-5 and 220 pounds making him an immediate red zone target opposite of current Sooner tight end, Austin Stogner. Conyers signed with Oklahoma in December.

Oklahoma’s CeeDee Lamb, Creed Humphrey named All-Americans by The Athletic

CeeDee Lamb and Creed Humphrey continue to show why Lincoln Riley and Bill Bedenbaugh are one of the best coaching duos in the country.

CeeDee Lamb and Creed Humphrey continue to show why Lincoln Riley and Bill Bedenbaugh are one of the best coaching duos in the country.

CeeDee Lamb, already being named a first-team All-American by Sports Illustrated was named first-team All-American by The Athletic as well.

Lamb’s prolific season is being well recognized as he is widely considered one of the best, if not the best wide receiver in college football.

Creed Humphrey, the anchor of the Sooners’ offensive line made second-team All-American. Becoming the leader of the line after Oklahoma had the other four linemen graduate or leave early for the NFL, Humphrey settled into his role nicely, despite having a third different quarterback in as many seasons.

Oklahoma did not have any defensive members make the list as Parnell Motley showed up late to the party and Kenneth Murray slowed his roll towards the end of the regular season. However, two Big 12 defenders made the teams; Baylor defensive end James Lynch (first-team) and Texas Tech linebacker Jordyn Brooks (second-team).

Oklahoma and LSU face off in the College Football Playoff semifinal on Dec. 28 at 3:00p.m. CT on ESPN.

Creed Humphrey named a Rimington Trophy finalist

Oklahoma may not take home the Joe Moore Award this year, but one of the Sooners’ offensive lineman is up for some hardware.

Oklahoma may not take home the Joe Moore Award for the most outstanding offensive line unit in college football this year, but one of the Sooners’ offensive lineman is up for some hardware.

Redshirt sophomore center Creed Humphrey was the only returning starter off the 2018 Joe Moore Award winning offensive line. His play a year after has garnered plenty of attention, culminating in becoming a finalist for the Rimington Trophy, the Trophy’s committee announced on Monday. The Rimington Trophy is honored annually to the nation’s top center.

The Shawnee, Oklahoma, native has started in 25 of the last 27 games for Oklahoma, including all 13 in 2019. According to the Rimington Trophy release for the finalists, in 799 plays this season, Humphrey has registered 93 knockdowns without allowing a sack.

Pancakes for breakfast every day and twice on Saturdays.

Creed Humphrey was named Big 12 co-offensive lineman of the year alongside Colton McKivitz of West Virginia.

Humphrey has without a doubt been the anchor of an offensive line that has had its fair share of ebbs and flows this season. The junior has been rock steady after working alongside four linemen last season who are now all on NFL rosters.

Humphrey makes the fourth consecutive Sooner lineman to have won at least a share of the award.

Behind Humphrey, quarterback Jalen Hurts has passed for 3,347 yards, rushed for 1,217 and has combined for 50 total touchdowns. Humphrey has also opened holes in the trenches for Kennedy Brooks who has rushed for 917 yards, fourth-best in the Big 12.

Humphrey and Oklahoma will be in another dog fight this Saturday as they will rematch Baylor for the Big 12 Championship and a possible College Football Playoff birth. The game can be found on FOX with kickoff set for 11a.m. CT.

Oklahoma offensive line a Joe Moore Award semifinalist

After losing four offensive linemen to the NFL last year, Oklahoma has been named one of the final ten candidates for the Joe Moore Award.

After losing four offensive linemen to the NFL draft last year, Oklahoma’s offensive line unit, coached by Bill Bedenbaugh, has been named one of the final ten candidates for the Joe Moore Award.

Among the ten teams nominated for the best offensive line unit in the country are Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Kentucky, LSU, Ohio State, Oregon, Washington, Wisconsin and the Sooners.

“There was healthy debate this year which required a thorough reexamination of game tape,” said Cole Cubelic, Chairman of the Joe Moore Award Voting Committee.  “This award matters to the O-line community and the voting committee doesn’t take that responsibility lightly.”

Oklahoma’s current offensive line unit helps the team average a league-high 581.1 yards per game, as well as 8.75 yards per play. The next closest is LSU at 7.64. Center Creed Humphrey is the only returning starter from last season, as Tyrese Robinson, Adrian Ealy, R.J. Proctor, Marquis Hayes and Erik Swenson have all gotten valuable minutes in this year.

“As the season winds down, performances in the ‘gotta have it’ moments over the next couple of weeks should reveal all we need to know about which of these units is the Most Outstanding Offensive Line Unit in college football.” Said Aaron Taylor, co-founder of the Joe Moore Award.

The Sooners “gotta have it” moment could have very well been their 25-point comeback win over Baylor, when the offensive unit gained 525 yards, a majority of which came in the second half.

The finalists for the award with be announced on December 10, and the winner will be made public with a visit to the winning campus’s university.
