Nebraska basketball receives Lincoln native commit

The Huskers received their first class of 2025 commitment for basketball.

The Huskers received their first class of 2025 commitment for basketball. Lincoln native Braden Frager announced his commitment to Nebraska on Twitter Friday afternoon.

The 6-foot-6 shooting forward is a three-star recruit from Lincoln Southwest High School and is coming off a tremendous sophomore season. Frager played in 23 games for the Silver Hawks and finished the year with 11.4 points per game, placing him third on the team. Frager led the team in rebounds per game, averaging seven.

Frager also finished with two 20-point games in his sophomore season. His biggest game came in the team’s comeback win over Lincoln Southeast, where he led the team with 28 points.

Frager chose Nebraska over several other Power 5 schools, including Iowa, Northwestern and Creighton.

Updated Big Ten recruiting rankings with four teams from West Coast included, mid-August

A look at how the 2024 recruiting classes stack up in the Big Ten with the inclusion of the four new West Coast teams. #B1G

We are one week from the start of the college football season, but the 2024 recruiting cycle continues to spin. We like to look at the 247Sports team composite for the recruiting classes of all the teams in the Big Ten, but we can now expand that.

With the addition of Oregon, UCLA, USC and Washington in the conference, what’s being put together now with recruiting classes will matter when the four former Pac-12 teams begin play in the Big Ten in 2024.

So how do teams like USC and Washington stack up with historically good recruiting teams in the league such as Ohio State, Michigan and Penn State? Well, we’re glad you asked.

Here is a look at the updated Big Ten recruiting rankings of all 18 future teams for the 2024 class.

Updated Big Ten football recruiting rankings for end of July. Where is Ohio State?

How might these change from here to December when recruits officially sign? #B1G

Recruiting is the lifeblood of any college football program and can determine whether a team is competitive consistently, a flash in the pan, or a perennial doormat.

For Ohio State, recruiting has almost always been at an elite level, allowing the Buckeyes to compete for Big Ten championships and national titles. But there is competition. Michigan has come on, Penn State seems to be resurgent, and other teams across the way in the West division, like Wisconsin and Iowa, are also looking to close the gap.

We like to look at where the recruiting rankings stand in the Big Ten throughout the year, and it’s time to check in once again as July comes to a close.

Here are the latest  Big Ten football recruiting rankings for the 2024 cycle according to the 247Sports Team Composite rankings.

Ranking the Big Ten’s 2024 recruiting classes

The 2024 cycle is beginning to heat up, with a number of high-profile commits already headed to the Big Ten conference.

Ohio State, Penn State and Michigan are unsurprisingly near the top of the list with incoming talent. Wisconsin added a few stars of its own. Iowa experienced a recent surge with a number of exciting defensive prospects.

New coaches, such as Wisconsin’s Luke Fickell and Nebraska’s Matt Rhule, have been playing catch-up as they fill out their class.

The recruiting arms race in big-time college football is one of the biggest keys to the future success of a football factory like Ohio State. The Buckeyes have been a monster in recruiting and are on the short list of teams that do it best, along with Alabama, Georgia, Clemson and a few others.

OSU has, almost without fail, finished in the top five of the college football recruiting rankings on an annual basis. It is looking to do the same with the 2024 class. But this year, there’s some competition, and it’s coming from not only from the other programs mentioned, but from archrival Michigan.

The Wolverines started quickly in the 2024 cycle, but Ohio State is closing the gap very quickly, especially with a flurry of big-time pledges over the last week. It’s still early, but a pecking order seems clear in the Big Ten in the race for the best recruiting class in 2024. However, there’s still plenty of time to go.

Here’s a look at the Big Ten football recruiting rankings according to the 247Sports team composite after the latest flurry of recruits have committed to Ohio State. Has the gap been closed yet between the Wolverines and Buckeyes? What about other teams such as Penn State, Wisconsin, Nebraska, and Iowa?

Badgers offer 6-foot-7 offensive lineman from New Jersey

The Badgers offered Nyier Daniels, a three-star class of 2024 offensive lineman from Oradell, New Jersey on Tuesday.

The Badgers offered Nyier Daniels, a three-star offensive lineman from Oradell, New Jersey on Tuesday. The class of 2024 athlete is 6-foot-7, 340 pounds and still has one more year of high school football at Bergen Catholic before he’d make the jump to the collegiate level.

To this point, Daniels has received 18 Division 1 offers, including seven programs from within the Big Ten. Due to his size and stature, he projects as either a left tackle or right tackle moving forward and could be a forced to be reckoned with for years to come.

With four-star quarterback Mabrey Mettauer (The Woodlands, Texas) already committed for the class of 2024, Daniels could be his blindside blocker for multiple seasons with Wisconsin.

An early look at Big Ten football recruiting rankings for 2024

Do you think Ohio State will finish No. 1 in the conference again? #GoBucks

Now that we’ve seen another early signing period and national signing day come and go — the latter of which has become a pretty sterile event — for Ohio State, it’s time to look ahead to the 2024 class.

The Buckeyes have been the king of recruiting in the Big Ten for a long time, and there’s a good chance that will continue, even with the transfer portal and name, image and likeness rights changing the game in ways nobody could have imagined a few years ago.

But maintaining their status will not be as easy. Early signs point to some headwinds for a program that has been at or near the top of the recruiting game historically.

Will Michigan and Penn State be able to close the gap and potentially reel Ohio State in completely as the landscape evolves in this new age of “amateur” college football recruiting? Only time will tell.

We still like OSU’s chances of churning out sensational college players and NFL widgets from a football factory, but nobody really knows what the future holds.

But back to 2024. Ohio State has started slowly with the class, especially after the decommitment by the nation’s No. 1 quarterback and recruit earlier this year. We’ll have to keep an eye on how the class shakes out from now until December when most kids will again sign their national letters of intent.

Not only will we keep tabs on Ohio State, but also the rest of the country and Big Ten. Since the 2023 class is more or less in the books, it feels like a good time to see where all the conference teams stack up for the next cycle.

Here are the rankings of the Big Ten teams in the 247Sports team recruiting composite for the 2024 class to date.

*Note: Only 12 of the 14 teams appear in the rankings. Two have not secured a commitment for the 2024 class.

Updated Big Ten recruiting rankings after national signing day

A look at how Big Ten football teams rank in the national recruiting rankings and against each other after national signing day. #B1G

Though it doesn’t come with quite the fanfare it did prior to the advent of the early signing period in 2017, national signing day for college football programs is still followed by many.

There wasn’t much to report for Ohio State, which signed 20 players in December and wasn’t expected to add to it on Wednesday. But a handful of players made their intentions known by inking their letters of intent for other programs throughout the country.

Now that all of the dust has settled and we have the final rankings, it’s time to look at all of the Big Ten classes and see how conference teams fared. Is Ohio State still the king of recruiting in the league, or did the gap close with teams like Michigan and Penn State?

Here’s a look at all 14 Big Ten schools and where they rank nationally and against their peers in the Big Ten. We start at No. 14 and work our way to No. 1.

Four-star cornerback from Maryland receives offer from Wisconsin

The Badgers offered Ify Obidegwu, a four-star cornerback from the class of 2024 on Tuesday.

The Badgers offered Ify Obidegwu, a four-star cornerback from the class of 2024 on Tuesday. The 6-foot-1 athlete has one more year of high school football at St. Frances Academy in Baltimore, Maryland before he will likely join a collegiate program.

Wisconsin became the teenager’s 27th Division 1 offer, with a handful of those offers coming from within the Big Ten, including Michigan and Penn State. Tennessee, Oklahoma and USC are also in on the cornerback, proving that the Badgers have their work cut out for them in acquiring his talents.

If they’re able to bring in Obidegwu, he’d join fellow cornerback Austin Alexander (Chicago Heights, Illinois) as a member of Wisconsin’s class of 2024 defense.

Badgers offer three-star safety from Minnesota after junior day

Wisconsin offered Koi Perich, a class of 2024 three-star safety from Minnesota this weekend.

The Badgers offered Koi Perich, a three-star safety from Esko, Minnesota this weekend. The class of 2024 athlete was visiting Wisconsin as a part of the program’s junior day and he picked up another offer ahead of his final season of high school football.

Perich has now received five Division 1 offers, all of which have come from Big Ten schools. So far, Wisconsin, Iowa, Northwestern, Nebraska and his home state Minnesota have offered him.

To this point, Wisconsin has secured two commitments for the class of 2024, reeling in four-star quarterback Mabrey Mettauer (The Woodlands, Texas) and cornerback Austin Alexander (Chicago Heights, Illinois).
