Fox Big Noon Kickoff pregame show coming to Penn State-Ohio State game

Fox is bringing its traveling road show to Happy Valley for the big matchup between Penn State and Ohio State this week.

Penn State’s next game is a big one. It is arguably the game of the year for the Nittany Lions and the biggest litmus test for where this team stands on the national stage. And they will get the national spotlight in a big way in Week 10 when Penn State hosts Ohio State.

Penn State’s contest with Ohio State was previously locked in for a noon eastern kickoff on Fox, so it was only a matter of time before the inevitable follow-up news was confirmed. Fox finalized the details by announcing its traveling road show, the Big Noon Kickoff pregame show, will be broadcasting live from State College ahead of next week’s mega contest with Penn State and Ohio State.

The Fox pregame show doesn’t always air from the site of the network’s headliner early kickoff game, although it does far more often than not. This was widely expected to continue for next week’s game in Happy Valley.

And the Fox pregame show will not be the only one in town. ESPN has also announced its pregame show, College GameDay is making its way from Bloomington, Indiana this past weekend to State College this week. This will be the 10th time College GameDay has come to Happy Valley in the show’s history.

It should be a big stage for Penn State as they look to get past an Ohio State team that has caused the Nittany Lions so many frustrations over the years. Penn State is a home underdog according to the early line this week.

College football fans were furious that Ohio State-Penn State game was chosen for Fox’s Big Noon Saturday

Some games are meant to be played at night.

College football scheduling is always a balancing act for schools, conferences and TV networks.

For the Big Ten, it gets even more difficult when you have members across multiple time zones and Fox, CBS and NBC all paying billions of dollars to broadcast games. Still, some games are meant to be played at night, and Nov. 2’s game between Ohio State and Penn State at Beaver Stadium is one of those games.

Yet, Fox had different ideas, and fans aren’t happy — for good reason.

The top-4 matchup was selected for next week’s Big Noon Saturday on Fox (and presumably the Big Noon Kickoff pregame show). That means that a game, which typically would have been a White Out under the lights, will be played in the day’s earliest window.

Fox, as the primary rights holder, gets priority in selecting its preferred matchups. It was obviously going to pick Ohio State-Penn State, but Fox opting against using a night-game exception was a mistake here. You want to showcase the sport at its best, and a Penn State White Out at night is top-tier college football. Under the current agreement, the primetime window belongs to NBC.

So while this does mean that Ohio State gets to avoid a night game at Beaver Stadium, the rest of the college football world had plenty to complain about.

TV and kickoff time for Penn State’s home game vs. Ohio State is confirmed

Penn State’s upcoming home game with Ohio State will be one to watch, and here is when and how to watch that game.

One of the biggest games of the year on Penn State’s 2024 schedule will not be getting the primetime treatment. It won’t even be placed in the mid-afternoon timeslot. Instead, it will be designated for Fox’s Big Noon Kickoff game.

The Big Ten unveiled the start times and TV assignments for the Week 10 conference schedule, which will be highlighted by Penn State’s home game against Ohio State. Fox will air the game at 12 p.m. ET as the headliner on Fox’s schedule on Nov. 2.

It has not been announced at this time, but it is likely Fox will bring its pregame show to Happy Valley as well. The game could also attract ESPN’s College GameDay as it could be the highest-profile game on the schedule that weekend. Georgia and Florida in Jacksonville is always an option, but this could be the best opportunity for GameDay to make the trip back to State College this season.

The Ohio State game will be the fourth game to start at noon for the Nittany Lions this season, and it will be the third Big Noon Kickoff game airing on Fox. Penn State opened the season in Fox’s early afternoon timeslot at West Virginia in Week 1 and hosted UCLA for the featured early afternoon contest in Week 6. Penn State also hosted Bowling Green for a noon kickoff in Week 2, but that game aired on Big Ten Network.

Penn State will be coming off a primetime game on NBC this week at Wisconsin. It was widely expected Fox would be making a serious play for the Penn State-Ohio State matchup for the Big Noon Kickoff since the season started. The Penn State-Ohio State game has tended to be one of the more attractive games on the Big Ten TV schedule, and this year’s meeting could potentially be a top-five matchup. Penn State is 6-0 and is hoping to come home from Wisconsin this week with a clean 7-0 record and a top-three ranking. Ohio State has lost just one game this season, two weeks ago in a close game at Oregon, who is now the no. 1 team in the national rankings. Ohio State is no. 4 in both major polls this week, one spot behind the Nittany Lions.

If the Nittany Lions and Buckeyes each manage to win their respective games this week (Ohio State hosts Nebraska), then next week’s game would be the first meeting in the series with both teams ranked in the top five since 1996. To date, that is the only time the two schools have faced each other when ranked in the top five.

But first things first. Penn State has to find a way to beat a Wisconsin team that has pummeled each of their past three opponents and held their opponents to seven points or fewer in each of the last three games.

Mark Ingram pulls up to ‘Big Noon Kickoff’ in an IndyCar

Mark Ingram makes a spectacular entrance to Nebraska-Indiana

FOX Sports’ “Big Noon Kickoff” was in Bloomington, Indiana, on Saturday for the Big Ten battle between Nebraska and the Hoosiers.

What better way to incorporate a promo than to have one of the panel’s stars appear in an IndyCar?

That is Mark Ingram, who somehow fits into the racecar as FOX Sports continues to deliver the message that IndyCar’s home in 2025 will be the network.

Fox’s Big Noon Kickoff to visit Happy Valley on Saturday

Big Noon Kickoff to broadcast live from Happy Valley this Saturday

Fox’s Big Noon Kickoff will broadcast live from State College, Pennsylvania, this Saturday, when the Nittany Lions play the UCLA Bruins in their Week 6 matchup.

The game time was announced earlier this week for 12:00 p.m. ET, so we already knew it would be broadcast as Fox’s premier game of the week. However, after today’s announcement, we know the pregame show will also travel to Happy Valley.

Fox’s star-studded kickoff show features former Alabama running back Mark Ingram, USC quarterback Matt Leinart, Notre Dame quarterback Brady Quinn and Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer.

Host Rob Stone, betting expert Chris Fallica, and reporters Bruce Feldman and Tom Rinaldi round out this season’s eight-person show.

Saturday will mark the second time a Penn State game has been featured on Big Noon Kickoff this season. The first game was the season opener against West Virginia in Morgantown. The crew last broadcasted from PSU’s campus in 2023 for the Nittany Lions matchup against Michigan. Penn State is 3-6 in its previous Big Noon matchups since the show began in 2019, including a win earlier this season.

UCLA and Penn State are two teams going in different directions. No. 8 Penn State is 3-0 heading into a primetime Big Ten opener against No. 21 Illinois, while UCLA is 1-2 getting ready to face No. 7 Oregon at home.

It might not be a spectacular game next weekend, but Big Noon Kickoff will definitely create a buzz around Happy Valley.

Joel Klatt shares Wisconsin’s path to beating Alabama on Saturday

Joel Klatt shares Wisconsin’s path to beating Alabama on Saturday

Wisconsin will be the center of college football’s national stage on Saturday afternoon.

The Badgers are playing host to the No. 4-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide in what is arguably the best matchup on college football’s Week 3 schedule. The game is Fox’s Big Noon Kickoff, which means a booth of Gus Johnson and Joel Klatt.

Related:ย 10 keys to Wisconsin Badgers pulling a program-defining upset against Alabama

Klatt has done media all week previewing the matchup. That has included hits on national shows, including The Herd with Colin Cowherd, plus extensive talk on his podcast: ‘The Joel Klatt Show.’

He posted a clip from the latter earlier this week focusing on a topic that will appeal to Badgers fans: how Wisconsin can pull the upset over Alabama.

In fewer words, Klatt mentions Wisconsin’s improved running game compared to last season, the team’s (seemingly) balanced offense, what he calls an ‘underrated’ defense, Tackett Curtis’ pedigree and the team’s strong secondary.

Here’s the summary of his case for the Badgers:

“I do think Wisconsin can play really well on that defensive side. The biggest question for me is that Wisconsin is going to have to control the line of scrimmage. Because they can’t just allow that defense to be on the field against Ryan Williams and Jalen Milroe and company for the entirety of the game. They’ve got to win the time of possession, so it becomes an offensive line battle for Wisconsin. Can they hold up against that defense? I don’t know, we’ll see. I thought Alabama’s defense was okay against South Florida, I didn’t feel like they were great. And we’ll see how they play.”

Wisconsin and Alabama kick off at noon ET, 11 a.m. CT. The Badgers are looking for an upset victory that would kickstart both the 2024 season, and the Luke Fickell era with the program.

Fox’s Big Noon Kickoff to visit Madison, Wisconsin on Saturday

Fox’s Big Noon Kickoff to visit Madison, Wisconsin on Saturday

Fox’s Big Noon Kickoff will broadcast live from Madison, Wisconsin for the Badgers’ Week 3 contest against the Alabama Crimson Tide this Saturday.

While ESPN will not send its College GameDay crew to UW’s campus to cover its most important bout of the 2024 slate, FOX’s star-studded college football pregame show will make an appearance in Madison for the first time in three years.

That last visit featured the Badgers against the Michigan Wolverines on Oct. 2, 2021. Wisconsin ended up dropping the game 38-17 in one of its first home games with a raucous student section since the 2020 COVID season.

Fox’s Big Noon Kickoff crew includes former Alabama running back Mark Ingram II, USC quarterback Matt Leinart, Notre Dame quarterback Brady Quinn and Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer.

Studio host Rob Stone, gambling expert Chris Fallica and reporters Bruce Feldman and Tom Rinaldi round out the eight-person group for the 2024 college season.

https://twitter.com/BNKonFOX/status/1832817172265177579

Including its upcoming game against Alabama, Wisconsin has received six Big Noon Kickoff on-site appearances. UW is 0-5 in its previous Big Noon matches since the program began in 2019.

In terms of the actual game, Wisconsin will need to deploy as much offensive firepower to remain competitive with the Crimson Tide. While UW has vanquished Western Michigan and South Dakota through its first two games of 2024, its passing attack has yet to appear anywhere near dynamic.

Alabama will venture to Madison one week after defeating South Florida in somewhat of an ugly performance. It’s safe to say all eyes will be directed towards Camp Randall’s hallowed turf on Sept. 14.

Machine Gun Kelly leads West Virginia in ‘Take Me Home, Country Roads’

Machine Gun Kelly fired up the West Virginia fans

“Big Noon Kickoff” on FOX Sports got off to a huge start on Saturday.

Machine Gun Kelly was on hand to lead the West Virginia in “Take Me Home, Country Roads” before the Mountaineers faced Penn State.

Heisman winner Mark Ingram got in on the fun, too.

Week 1 College Football: Where is ESPN GameDay and Fox Big Noon Kickoff?

Take a look at where ESPN College Game Day and Fox Big Noon Kickoff are located.

It’s Week 1 of the College Football season, and the excitement has built and is ready to blow through the roof. The games will start on Thursday, but the big day is coming up on Saturday.

Week 1 will feature some great games. First, the ESPN Game Day crew has elected to be in College Stadium Texas. Home of the Texas A+M Aggies, as they will battle the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Rece Davis, Lee Corso, Kirk Hebstreit, Nick Saban, Desmond Howard, Pat McAfee, Pat Thamel, and others will be part of the show. ESPN Game Day will run from 6 am PT through 9 am PT.

This is only the 6th meeting between Notre Dame and Texas A+M. Marcus Freeman is in his third season as head coach of the Irish, following a 10-win season a year ago.

Turning the channel over to FOX, they will be in Morgantown West Virginia. The Mountaineers will host the Penn State Nittany Lions in that game. The crew on FOX will be on the campus at 7 am PT, and lead right up to kickoff at 9 am PT.

West Virginia, out of the Big 12 has a ton of experience returning and will look to knock off Penn State, who is one of the contenders in the Big Ten to get to the College Football Playoff.

Week 1 College Football: ESPN Game Day and Fox Big Noon Kickoff locations

Take a look at the locations for both the ESPN College Game day crew and the Fox Big Noon kickoff squad.

A great long standing college football tradition over the years has been turning on the TV in the morning and getting ready for all the big games. That is certainly not going to change in 2024, as the season gets started in full force this weekend. Sure, there are games on Thursday and Friday, but Saturday is the big day. Both ESPN Game Day and Fox Big Noon Kickoff are in locations ready to fire up the crowds.

The ESPN Game Day crew of Rece Davis, Lee Corso, Kirk Herbstreit, Nick Saban, Desmond Howard, Pat McAfee, Pat Thamel, and others will be part of the show. They will take their talents to College Station Texas, home of the Texas A&M Aggies, who host No. 7 Notre Dame. Game Day will run from 9 am ET through noon.

These two teams have not met a whole lot in history. This is just the sixth time.

When you flip the channel over to FOX, they will be getting fans ready for the West Virginia Mountaineers and Penn State Nittany Lions. These two teams are familiar with each other, despite one being in the Big 12 and the other in the Big 10. The fans in Morgantown are starving for an upset, while James Franklin has his team in the Top 10 to start the season.

They will be on FOX from 10 am ET until kickoff at noon.
