The Big 12 Conference is beginning to look ahead at its future television deals. The Big 12’s current TV deal goes through the 2024-25 season but new information might lead to that process accelerating.
ESPN’s Pete Thamel reports the Big 12 is expected to negotiate with both FOX and ESPN about the conference’s next deal.
New Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark is optimistic about the direction these talks will take the league going forward.
“It is an exciting time for college athletics and given the changing landscape we welcome the opportunity to engage with our partners to determine if an early extension is in the best interest of all parties. The Big 12 has enjoyed a fantastic relationship with its multi-media rights holders, and I look forward to having these conversations.”
A new TV deal for the Big 12 could make things easier for Texas and Oklahoma to move to the SEC before the initial 2025 window.
