Prediction

Jazz 116, Wizards 105

Moneyline (ML)

The Jazz (-556) are big favorites at home over the Wizards (+400) on Friday evening. Washington has struggled recently against Utah, losing eight-straight games to the Jazz. However, the Jazz are in a bit of a slump as they have lost four-straight games overall. But neither side presents enough value in this contest, so PASS on the moneyline bet in favor of the point spread.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The JAZZ -10.5 (-110) open this contest as a double-digit favorite at home over the Wizards. While Utah has covered just once in their last five games, they are still a dominant home team. And given Washington’s struggles on the road this season (just 7-21 straight up), it wouldn’t be a surprise if the Jazz ran away with this one early. I’m taking Utah to cover the 10.5-point spread at home on Friday.

Over/Under (O/U)

The total for this contest is set at 232.5 points, which feels a bit too high considering Utah allows just 106 points per game at home this season. The Wizards, on the other hand, have the NBA’s worst defense, allowing nearly 120 points per game. However, don’t expect them to keep up the pace on offense as the UNDER (-115) should hit in Utah.

Lakers at Warriors: Odds, lines, picks, and betting tips

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 10:45 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Lakers 115, Warriors 110

Moneyline (ML)

Despite not having LeBron, the Lakers (-556) are still massive road favorites over the Warriors (+400). The Lakers have played incredibly well, as of late, winning six-straight games. Meanwhile, the Warriors have lost seven-straight and another seven in a row at home. However, there just isn’t enough value on either side. PASS on this chalky moneyline in favor of another bet.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The Lakers -9.5 (-115) open this contest as nearly double-digit road favorites against the WARRIORS +9.5 (-106) without their best player. However, that just feels like far too many points for a team that is so reliant on their two superstars to carry them from night in and night out. It’s worth noting that the Lakers recently beat the Warriors at home, but only by five points and that was with James in the lineup. While they should get the “W” again this time, expect Golden State to keep this game close throughout and cover the 9.5 point spread.

Over/Under (O/U)

The total for this Western Conference matchup is set at 221.5, which feels low considering how poorly the Golden State Warriors’ defense has been this season. The Warriors are allowing over 115 points per game this season, seventh-most in the NBA. While LeBron James won’t play, still expect the OVER (-121) to hit as the Lakers should come close to scoring 115 or more points even without their superstar.

Rockets vs. Jazz: Odds, lines, picks, and betting tips

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 12:15 p.m. ET.

Prediction

Rockets 114, Jazz 112

Moneyline (ML)

The Jazz (-125) are slight home favorites over the ROCKETS (+105) on Saturday night. While Utah has been great at home this season (20-6), Houston has been one of the league’s better teams on the road. They’ve also had a lot of success against the Jazz, winning seven of their previous nine meetings. Given the value here, I like the Rockets to upset the Jazz on Saturday night.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The Jazz -1.5 (-115) are less than a basket favorite over the ROCKETS +1.5 (+106) on Saturday night. While Utah’s record is fantastic at home this season, they haven’t fared well against the spread, as of late. They have failed to cover the spread in Utah in four of their last five games. Meanwhile, Houston is getting hot at the right time, covering in five of their last seven games. Given how even these teams are, give me Houston and the points on Saturday night.

Over/Under (O/U)

The total for this Western Conference matchup is set for 233.5 points, which actually feels a little bit too high despite this game involving the Houston Rockets. Utah has one of the best defenses in the NBA, allowing just over 107 points per game. While the Rockets always have the potential to score 120 or more points, expect the Jazz to slow down the pace of this game and for the UNDER (-115) to hit in Utah.

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 1:00 p.m. ET.

Prediction

Jazz 116, Spurs 105

Moneyline (ML)

The Jazz (-304) are a decent-sized home favorites over the Spurs (+240) on Friday night. Utah has been fantastic at home this season, winning 11 of their last 13 games at the Vivint Smart Home Arena. Meanwhile, the Spurs are just 9-19 on the road this season, and they have lost five-straight games in Utah. However, PASS on this moneyline bet as the odds just aren’t attractive enough to bet on either side.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The JAZZ -7.5 (even) are big favorites against the Spurs +7.5 (-121) against the spread on Friday night. While Utah has actually struggled ATS as of late (3-6 in their previous nine contests), the Spurs (23-30-1 on the season) haven’t been much better. But given how well Utah has played at home this season, take the Jazz to cover this spread as they should win by double-digits over San Antonio.

Over/Under (O/U)

The total for this Western Conference matchup is set at 223.5 points, which feels just about right. Utah has the No. 6 ranked scoring defense this season, allowing only 107 points per game. However, their home defense is even better as they are allowing only 104 points per game in Utah. With the recent scoring woes for the Spurs, expect the UNDER (-115) to hit in Utah on Friday night.

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 12:00 p.m. ET.

Prediction

Lakers 115, Grizzlies 110

Moneyline (ML)

The Lakers (-715) are huge moneyline favorites over the Grizzlies (+500) on Friday night. The Lakers have been great at home this season, winning 18 of their 25 games at the Staples Center. However, the Grizzlies have not fared well on the road, going just 12-14 away from home this season. But despite the big odds for the Lakers, PASS on this moneyline bet as there just isn’t enough value on either side.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The Lakers (-10.5) are double-digit favorites over the GRIZZLIES +10.5 (-106) on Friday night. While the Lakers have been one of the best teams in the entire NBA this season, they haven’t always done a great job of covering point spreads. They are just 13-11-1 against the spread at home this season. While Memphis is coming off a tough road loss to the Kings on Thursday night, expect them to keep this game close and cover the double-digit point spread.

Over/Under (O/U)

The point total for this Western Conference matchup is set at 234.5 points, which feels a bit high as the Grizzlies are playing in back-to-back road games. While both teams are averaging over 113 points per game, Los Angeles still has one of the top-ranked defenses in the NBA. Expect them to slow the pace down and for the UNDER (-110) to hit in Los Angeles on Friday

Prediction

Lakers 124, Rockets 114

Moneyline (ML)

The Lakers have been sputtering a bit as of late, going 5-4 in their last nine games without more than two wins in a row since January 10-13. The Rockets have won three straight and are 6-2 in their last eight.

While Los Angeles may not be playing that well, the Lakers will most likely get it done on Thursday night at home, where they’re 17-6 this season. That doesn’t mean you should bet on them, though. The moneyline of -334 isn’t worth the risk against a good Rockets team, so I’d PASS.

New to sports betting? A $10 wager on the Lakers returns a profit of $2.99.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The Lakers are 7.5-point favorites over the Rockets, the eighth straight time they’ve been favored. The last time they were underdogs was against the Rockets last month, a game they won 124-115. In their last 10 games, both teams are only 5-5 ATS, but the Lakers have been better in that department this season (26-22-1).

The spread offers much better upside than the moneyline, which is why I’d take the LAKERS (-110) to cover the 7.5-point margin. If the Rockets rule out Westbrook, that line could grow, too.

Over/Under (O/U)

The over/under is 236.5 points, the highest of any game tonight. Both teams have been hitting the over lately, though, with the total going over in five of the Rockets’ last seven and 10 of the Lakers’ last 12.

In the Lakers’ last four home games, the total has gone over four times, and it’s gone over in three of the Rockets’ last four road games. Bet the OVER 236.5 (-110).
