Bengals make roster moves before Week 16 showdown vs. Steelers

Some roster moves for the Bengals before playing the Steelers.

The Cincinnati Bengals made a handful of roster moves on the Friday before the team’s Week 16 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

With DJ Reader out for the season, the team added defensive tackle Domenique Davis to the active 53-man roster.

They also elevated wideout Shedrick Jackson and CB Sidney Jones IV to the active roster, though as standard activations, they will revert back to the practice squad on the Monday after the game.

Davis is interesting because he was a preseason breakout, so he’ll be an immediate backup behind the likes of Josh Tupou right away. He joins new waiver wire claim Travis Bell as new faces attempting to fill the void left by one of the league’s best nose tackles being lost for the season.

Bengals send Cam Taylor-Britt to IR, sign QB AJ McCarron off practice squad

Big roster moves for the Bengals.

Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt heads to injured reserve before his team’s Monday night game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Bengals announced the move on Monday and also signed quarterback AJ McCarron to the active roster to fill the empty spot.

Taylor-Britt had already been declared out for the game due to an ankle injury suffered in practice. He’d already been trying to fight through a quad injury and won’t be eligible to come off IR until Week 17.

With CTB down, veteran Chidobe Awuzie will start across from rookie DJ Turner.

McCarron is now the permanent main-roster depth behind starter Jake Browning after spending time on the practice squad since his arrival.

Bengals make roster moves, including Joe Burrow to IR

Bengals roster moves, plus Joe Burrow to IR.

The Cincinnati Bengals officially moved Joe Burrow to injured reserve on Saturday before the team’s Week 12 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

With Burrow heading to injured reserve, the Bengals made a corresponding move by elevating AJ McCarron from the practice squad to serve as backup behind Jake Browning.

Taking Burrow’s place on the 53-man roster is rookie running back Chase Brown, who had his 21-day return window opened this week after missing four games on injured reserve.

These all fall under the expected column. While the team hasn’t revealed surgery or timeline info for Burrow just yet, he was declared out for the year last week due to ligament damage in his wrist.

Bengals announce roster moves, including adding a QB

The Bengals make roster moves, including bringing on a QB.

The Cincinnati Bengals announced a handful of roster moves on Monday in the wake of Joe Burrow’s season-ending wrist injury.

On the quarterback front, the Bengals signed Drew Plitt to the practice squad, reuniting with the former undrafted free agent from 2022.

Plitt will be the new emergency third quarterback behind new starter Jake Browning and backup AJ McCarron. He spent time with the team out of college during the preseason and also had stints with other teams and the Arlington Renegades of the XFL.

The Bengals also cleared rookie running back Chase Brown to return from IR, opening his 21-day window to practice. He can be activated to the 53-man roster at any time during that span. The fourth-rounder suffered a hamstring injury before Week 8 and has missed the mandatory four games being being eligible to return.

Cincinnati also shifted rookie guard Jaxson Kirkland to the Practice Squad/Injured list due to a wrist injury.

Bengals make roster moves before TNF vs. Ravens

Charlie Jones is back as part of new Bengals roster moves.

The Cincinnati Bengals made a couple of notable roster moves before the “Thursday Night Football” showdown against the Baltimore Ravens kicked off.

As fans have been hoping, the team activated rookie wideout Charlie Jones to the 53-man roster. The move gives Cincinnati a spark not only in the base offense, but on special teams returns, considering Jones had already scored once in that capacity before a stint on injured reserve.

The Bengals also announced the elevation of wide receiver Shedrick Jackson from the practice squad to the active roster, a standard elevation that will revert him back to the practice squad on the Monday after the game.

Jones suffered a thumb injury that required surgery but was cleared and activated to return to practice last week. The Bengals won’t have wideouts Tee Higgins and Andrei Iosivas on Thursday night due to injuries.

Bengals make roster moves before Week 10 vs. Texans

Some roster moves for the Bengals.

The Cincinnati Bengals have elevated wide receivers Stanley Morgan and Shedrick Jackson to the active roster for Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans.

This comes on the heels of the revelation that Tee Higgins won’t be able to play against the Texans after injuring his hamstring in practice.

Unless the Bengals make another move before kickoff, it would also seem to hint the team won’t activate rookie Charlie Jones to the active roster after his practice window was opened this week as he looks to come back from IR.

These moves are classified as standard elevations, so both wideouts will revert to the practice squad on the Monday following the game.

Bengals put Tycen Anderson on IR before Week 9 vs. Bills

The Bengals lose a safety before the game against the Bills.

The Cincinnati Bengals have shifted safety Tycen Anderson to the injured reserve list.

Cincinnati announced the move on Friday ahead of the team’s “Sunday Night Football” game against the Buffalo Bills in Week 9.

A core special-teamer, Anderson popped up on the injury report this week with a knee issue that he initially suffered during the prior week’s win over the San Francisco 49ers.

This leaves the Bengals light at safety, so Week 9 could be the first time veteran Michael Thomas gets elevated from the practice squad to compensate.

The move comes on the heels of the team promoting a player from the practice squad to the 53-man roster and signing an outside free agent to that same practice squad.
