Joe Burrow injury updates: Latest news on Bengals QB

Bengals QB Joe Burrow is dealing with a knee injury. Here are the latest updates.

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow is dealing with a knee injury ahead of his team’s Week 16 game against the Cleveland Browns.

While Burrow’s injury doesn’t sound serious enough to limit him, it’s enough for the Bengals to add it to the injury report.

Here are Burrow injury updates ahead of the game.

Joe Burrow injury update

  • The Bengals listed Burrow as “limited” on the first injury report of the week due to right wrist and knee injuries.
  • Burrow told reporters that he could be dealing with the left knee issue “for a couple of weeks.”

How will injury impact Joe Burrow?

  • So far, it hasn’t. He appeared to have his usual mobility in last week’s win over Tennessee as he threw for 271 yards and three scores. But he also threw a pair of interceptions and lost a fumble while not attempting any rushes.

Bengals depth chart

  • Joe Burrow, Jake Browning, Logan Woodside

As a reminder, the Bengals still have Jake Browning behind Burrow and just last week, signed Logan Woodside to the 53-man roster.

Bengals starter in concussion protocol before Week 16 vs. Browns

The Bengals could be down a key piece during the game against the Browns.

The Cincinnati Bengals have a few injuries of note going into the Week 16 game against the Cleveland Browns as they hope to keep slim playoff chances alive.

One of the biggest, though, is Bengals head coach Zac Taylor revealing that starting guard Alex Cappa has entered the concussion protocol.

That’s a brutal development for the offensive line, considering the team is already down to its third-string left tackle with Orlando Brown Jr. injured and Cody Ford battling the flu.

The Bengals would need to get creative if Cappa can’t get cleared, either sliding Andrew Stueber around or perhaps putting Cordell Volson over on the right side.

It’s a bad place for the Bengals to be before they take on a pass-rush led by Myles Garrett.

Before the injury, Cappa had been an extreme disappointment, hence the 51.7 PFF grade (44.4 grade in pass blocking). Ted Karras has also underperformed at center, and Volson was benched from the left guard job.

Bengals injury updates immediately after Week 15 vs. Titans

Bengals injury updates after the team’s Week 15 game.

The Cincinnati Bengals entered the Week 15 game against the Tennessee Titans with a host of injury concerns and left with a few more, too.

Here’s a quick rundown of the injury outlook from right after the 37-27 win.

DE Sam Hubbard

Hubbard caught a touchdown pass from Joe Burrow — not a typo — and was then on the sidelines getting looked at by trainers. The team quickly ruled him out for the game with a knee injury.

OL Alex Cappa

Cappa got his hand looked at and wrapped near or during halftime, but didn’t leave the game.

OLs Orlando Brown Jr. and Cody Ford

As a reminder, Brown was out with a knee injury. Ford, his replacement, was a last-second addition to the injury report due to illness and didn’t play.

Bengals QB Joe Burrow puts sleeve on knee after nasty facemask, hit

The Bengals QB was just the victim on one of the worst missed facemasks ever.

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow didn’t miss a snap during Monday night’s game against the Dallas Cowboys, but he did add a little protection around his knee after a brutal hit.

In the fourth quarter, officials missed a very obvious facemask that Burrow suffered during a messy tackle, to the point his head was turned all the way to the side.

Burrow somewhat limped off the field, then was seen on the sidelines adding what looked like a compression sleeve around his left knee.

The next drive, Burrow went out with his usual mobility in the pocket and seemed fine, but that and the facemask were things of note:

Bengals get even more bad injury news before Week 14 vs. Cowboys

The injury bug just won’t leave the Bengals alone.

The Cincinnati Bengals just can’t catch a break when it comes to the injury bug.

Adding to the misery of the late-season rash of injuries ahead of Week 14, Bengals head coach Zac Taylor told reporters on Thursday that offensive tackle Orlando Brown Jr. is doubtful for the game against the Dallas Cowboys.

Brown had missed a handful of games before Week 13, where he was clearly struggling wth an injury by the end of it.

With Brown out on Monday night, the Bengals could look to give Andrew Stueber a run at left tackle. Cody Ford just replaced Cordell Volson at left guard in a move that doesn’t sound like it will be reverted.

Still, the Bengals have the option at left tackle as they play out the rest of the year. They’ve already lost kicker Evan McPherson and linebacker Logan Wilson to injuries this week, too.

Bengals lose second starter to injured reserve before Week 14

The Bengals just sent another starter to injured reserve with five games left.

Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Logan Wilson had a surgical cleanup on his knee Thursday morning, according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo. He is expected to miss the rest of the regular season.

The defense had already had enough issues on defense this season, leading to a 4-8 record. Now, they will be without one of their key cogs for the final five games with the season all but lost. Wilson had already broke the century mark for tackles in just 11 games this season with 104. He also had two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and one pass defended.

It’s the latest in a string of injuries for the Bengals, including RBs Zack Moss and Chris Evans. Kicker Evan McPherson just wenet to injured reserve too.

Wilson signed a four-year extension in 2023. He still has three years left on that deal.

Bengals sign kicker after Evan McPherson injury news

Roster moves for the Bengals after a surprise injury.

The Cincinnati Bengals surprised on Wednesday before Week 14 by revealing that kicker Evan McPherson could miss a few weeks with a groin injury.

According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, the Bengals signed kicker Cade York to the practice squad, and he will be the starting kicker for the team with McPherson sidelined.

The groin injury for McPherson apparently won’t end his season, but it is significant enough that the team felt it necessary to add outside help in the interim.

York has previously spent time with the Commanders and Browns. As for McPherson, as of this writing, no word on if this injury has played a role in his poor season to date.

Bengals’ Joe Burrow had ‘very noticeable limp’ after loss to Steelers

Joe Burrow apparently got cleated early in the loss to the Steelers.

Exiting the loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow gave one of his most candid interviews yet.

He also apparently walked through the building with a limp after his team fell to 4-8.

Burrow apparently took a cleat early in the game, according to the note from ESPN’s Ben Baby:

He had a very noticeable limp as he walked through the locker room after the defeat. He said he was cleated on his right leg on the first play of the game, which created a gash that caused significant bleeding. He will know more about how he feels physically on Tuesday, he said.

On first watch, Burrow didn’t appear to be limping during the game itself and had pretty good mobility throughout the contest.

Luckily for Burrow and the Bengals, it sounds like something that will clear up pretty quickly. They have a bit of an extended break before Week 14, where they’ll play on Monday night in Dallas against the Cowboys.

So far, Burrow has enjoyed a mostly healthy season and even overcame some of his own self-imposed question marks about his surgically repaired wrist in cold weather.
