Ja’Marr Chase a DNP on first Bengals vs. Chiefs injury report

Ja’Marr Chase headlined the first Bengals vs. Chiefs injury report.

The Cincinnati Bengals have remained mum on the status of star wideout Ja’Marr Chase to start Week 17, continuing the trend that held strong over the holiday.

While onlookers saw Chase at practice on Wednesday doing some rehab work, he officially was a DNP on the first injury report of the week before the team takes on the Kansas City Chiefs:

  • WR Ja’Marr Chase (DNP)
  • CB Jalen Davis (Limited)
  • DE Cam Sample (Limited)
  • CB Cam-Taylor Britt (FP)

The Bengals have largely said Chase is a day-to-day situation, so gradually upgrading over the next two injury reports would indicate he could play against the Chiefs.

And on the CTB front, the te[anyclip-media thumbnail=”undefined” playlistId=”undefined” content=”dW5kZWZpbmVk”][/anyclip-media]am just designated him to return from injured reserve, so the full participation suggests he’ll be on the field in Kansas City over the weekend.

Bengals mum on Ja’Marr Chase updates before starting prep for Chiefs

News on Ja’Marr Chase remains limited.

The Cincinnati Bengals didn’t have much to say about star wideout Ja’Marr Chase over the holiday.

Speaking with reporters before a mini-break, Bengals head coach Zac Taylor waved off questions about Chase with the expected responses.

“We’ll take it day-to-day with him,” Taylor said, according to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com. “What is today? Sunday? We practice on Wednesday, so I’m not going to go there yet. We’ll get him back on the field, see what he looks like.”

That paints Wednesday as a pretty telling day for the Bengals as they begin prep for the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 17. The week prior, the Bengals suggested Chase was day to day before he didn’t participate in any of the practices.

Should Chase even get a limited tag to start the week, it could be a sign he’s about to ramp up and play. So far, reports and otherwise have seemed to suggest there’s a possibility he’ll be able to go in Kansas City.

Chase suffered a shoulder injury that kept him out of last week’s loss to Pittsburgh.

Joe Burrow surgery details, return timeline revealed in new report

New Joe Burrow surgery and return estimates have arrived.

Much about the specifics and return timeline surrounding the season-ending injury to Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow has been enshrouded in mystery.

Until now, it seems.

According to a report from the Cincinnati Enquirer’s Kelsey Conway, Burrow underwent surgery to repair a torn scapholunate ligament, an operation performed by Dr. Thomas Graham.

More important for fans, though, is the reported recovery timeline of four to six months.

And this, via Conway: “Burrow’s recovery process will be closely tracked as the injury took place on his throwing hand. Burrow and the team’s medical staff will decide whether he throws in the spring.”

So as it stands now, Burrow isn’t a guarantee to participate in any spring activities and a training camp return might make more sense, provided he doesn’t blow past recovery estimates like he did with the knee injury.

Perhaps more important than anything, none of the new revelations conflict with the team’s statement that he’s expected to make a full recovery. Until more information comes out, fans can still expect to see Burrow on the sidelines with a headset supporting Jake Browning as his Bengals attempt to make a playoff push.

Ja’Marr Chase is only Cincinnati player on final Bengals vs. Steelers injury report

Ja’Marr Chase is the only Bengal on the final Bengals vs. Steelers injury report.

The Cincinnati Bengals won’t have star wideout Ja’Marr Chase on Saturday against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Chase is the lone Bengals player on the injury report at all for the Bengals:

  • WR Ja’Marr Chase (Out)

Bengals head coach Zac Taylor ruled out Chase on Thursday before the report’s release, telling onlookers it simply wasn’t going to happen this week.

Chase suffered a shoulder injury during last week’s win over the Vikings and the latest insider report suggests he might miss next week against the Chiefs, too.

With Chase down, Trenton Irwin and rookie Andrei Iosivas could get some run with Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd against the Steelers defense on the road.

The Bengals had six other players upgraded to full practice mid-week who don’t even get listed on the final report, including Alex Cappa and Chase Brown.

Ja’Marr Chase headlines second Bengals vs. Steelers injury report

Ja’Marr Chase and the rest of the Bengals vs. Steelers injury report.

The second injury report of the week for the Cincinnati Bengals didn’t feature much difference from the first.

As has been the case since last weekend, Ja’Marr Chase is the centerpiece of attention and he was the only player who didn’t go:

  • WR Ja’Marr Chase (DNP)
  • RB Chase Brown (FP)
  • G Alex Cappa (FP)
  • DE Cam Sample (FP)

This comes a day after Bengals head coach Zac Taylor said the team isn’t ruling Chase out for the Week 16 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. A new report followed that, though, and said Chase could miss at least two games.

Outside of the obvious importance that is having one of the best wide receivers on the planet on the field against the Steelers, the rest of the injury report shapes up nicely.

Ja’Marr Chase’s injury return timeline updated in new report

Ja’Marr Chase’s injury return timeline gets an update.

Details surrounding the injury to Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase continue to shift as the team preps to take on the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 16.

Given the nature of a separated shoulder, that isn’t too much of a shock. In the wake of Bengals head coach Zac Taylor suggesting Chase is a day-to-day classification and unwilling to rule him out for Week 16 yet, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport updated the situation.

“This seems to be more of a moderate separation,” Rapoport said. “Likely misses this week, potentially misses next week, then after that gets into the realm of ‘should be able to go.'”

The Bengals don’t have any incentive to list Chase as out so early in the week, though this isn’t the first time a report has suggested he will miss the game.

Following the reported timeline, Chase would miss the Steelers game and then potentially the road game against the Kansas City Chiefs, leaving only the finale against the Cleveland Browns as a question mark.

At that point, whether Chase returns at all this season could hinge on whether the team is still in playoff contention by the time he’s healthy.

Bengals aren’t ready to rule Ja’Marr Chase out just yet

Ja’Marr Chase won’t be ruled out…yet.

If Ja’Marr Chase isn’t suiting up for the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 16 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, the team isn’t in any rush to announce it.

Unlike the Steelers already declaring a star defender out and making a quarterback change, Bengals head coach Zac Taylor declined to say anything of the sort about Chase.

Instead, Taylor said he’s not ruling Chase out and that “we’ll see as the week goes,” according to Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic.

This comes after a report the day prior said Chase will miss the game against the Steelers and potentially more time after that.

Given the severity of this particular shoulder issue is tough to get a read on and can potentially change quickly, it’s no surprise the Bengals aren’t ruling out Chase as the first practice of the week commences.

Chase will likely remain the most compelling thing to watch about the Bengals this week before kickoff, barring an official announcement one way or the other in the coming days.

Ja’Marr Chase injury update is bad news for Bengals

The Ja’Marr Chase injury update is here and it’s not great.

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase will seemingly miss at least one game due to the shoulder injury he suffered during the Week 15 win over the Minnesota Vikings.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Chase is “likely to miss some time” and it’s expected he will miss this Saturday’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers and “it could extend beyond that, as well.”

That’s very vague in terminology for now, but things remain in flux around the injury given Chase only just recently underwent the MRI.

Chase suffered the injury last week and was quickly ruled out for the game before reappearing on the sideline in street clothes.

The Bengals are 8-6 and in the playoff hunt, with three games remaining, all against AFC opponents.

Bengals provide injury updates on Ja’Marr Chase, DJ Reader, DJ Ivey

Injury updates on Ja’Marr Chase, DJ Reader, DJ Ivey.

Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor provided insight on the slew of major injuries the team suffered during the Week 15 win over the Minnesota Vikings.

As expected, star defensive lineman DJ Reader is out for the year with a torn quad. Rookie cornerback DJ Ivey is also out for the year with a torn ACL.

And as for Ja’Marr Chase, Taylor confirmed an earlier report that the star wideout suffered a sprained AC joint in his right shoulder, effectively making him a day-to-day candidate before Week 16.

Chase becomes the biggest Bengals item to track over the next week, as it will be interesting to see if the team goes the overly precautious route despite the playoff importance of the upcoming game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Bengals star DJ Reader suffered torn quad, out for season

An update on Bengals star DJ Reader.

Cincinnati Bengals star defensive lineman DJ Reader will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a torn quad during Saturday’s win over the Minnesota Vikings.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo reported the news.

Reader went down on the first defensive drive of the game and needed a cart to leave the field, with the team’s instant declaration of his missing the remainder of the game a tell as to the severity.

Arguably the best nose tackle in football, Reader suffered the same injury in the opposite leg a few years ago and eventually came all the way back to full form.

But given the repeated injury, extensive rehab time for an issue so serious and the fact he’ll turn 30 next year, it’s hard to judge how things will play out. Reader is set to be a free agent after the season, so this injury will weigh heavily on those proceedings.

As for the Bengals, a platoon of Josh Tupou and others will attempt to fill the void, though it’s something opponents will gameplan to attack each week now.
