Bears fans have mixed reactions on their new alternate orange helmets

Bears fans have mixed reactions when it comes to the team’s new alternate orange helmet and uniform combination.

NFL teams are finally allowed to wear alternate helmets beginning in the 2022 season and many franchises have been busy unveiling new looks and colors that will be worn for specific games. Now, it’s the Chicago Bears turn to jump on the bandwagon.

The Bears revealed their new orange alternate helmet on Sunday afternoon, complete with the blue “C” as their logo outlined in white, and a blue facemask as well. The helmets will be worn during their Thursday Night Football matchup at home against the Washington Commanders on October 13th, as well as their road matchup against the Dallas Cowboys on October 30th. The Bears will also don their orange alternate jerseys with the new helmets for each game.

Aside from the blank blue helmets that are worn with their throwback uniforms, this is the most drastic change to their headwear in decades.

When the Bears broke the news on their social media accounts, it was met with mixed reactions from the fanbase and even a current player. Some love the new design while others don’t care for the change.

Bears to wear classic jerseys in division showdown vs. Packers

The Bears are undefeated wearing their classic jerseys.

The Chicago Bears are breaking out the big guns for Sunday’s divisional showdown against the Green Bay Packers.

The Bears will be donning their classic white jerseys, which were unveiled for team’s centennial celebration a couple of years ago, for the first time this season on Sunday against the Packers.

Chicago will wear them Sunday against Green Bay and then again when they play the Vikings in Week 15.

Oh, and for what it’s worth, the Bears are undefeated at 3-0 when wearing these classic uniforms.

The Bears will be looking to reverse the curse against the Packers, who have won 19 of the last 22 meetings. Chicago last defeated Green Bay in 2018, which secured them the NFC North championship in Matt Nagy’s first season.

Quarterback Justin Fields will get his first taste of this Bears-Packers rivalry. As someone who’s experienced a big-time rivalry in college with Michigan-Ohio State, Fields will look to continue his winning ways.

But it won’t be easy against a Packers team that has had the Bears’ number for the last decade-plus.

After pulling off an upset against the Raiders last week, the Bears are looking for another big upset to keep those classic jerseys undefeated.

Chicago Bears release 2020 uniform schedule

The Bears officially announced the schedule for uniform combinations for their home and away schedule this fall.

As the Chicago Bears prepare to take the field against the Detroit Lions to open the regular season, there’s a lot of excitement with the start of the new season.

One of the surprises that will hopefully help make the wait until Sunday’s game a little easier is the unveiling of the Bears’ uniform schedule. The Bears officially announced the schedule for uniform combinations for their home and away schedule this fall.

Chicago will wear their white jerseys in all eight of their away games, including Sunday’s season opener against Detroit.

For their eight home games, the Bears will wear three different uniform combinations. Chicago will wear their traditional navy jerseys in Week 2 against the New York Giants, Week 5 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Week 8 against the New Orleans Saints, Week 13 against the Lions and Week 17 against the Packers.

The Bears will also don their alternate orange jerseys in two games, including Week 4 against the Indianapolis Colts and Week 10 against the Minnesota Vikings.

Then, they’ll sport their classic white jerseys, which were unveiled for the team’s centennial celebration, in Week 14 against the Houston Texans.

In all, the Bears will don four different uniform combinations throughout the 2020 season. Although, none of that will matter if the Bears don’t impress on the field.

See veterans Robert Quinn, Ted Ginn Jr. in their Bears uniforms

The Bears released a first look at new veterans Robert Quinn, Ted Ginn Jr. and Jimmy Graham in their new navy and blue threads.

While there’s still a lot of uncertainty surrounding the 2020 season, it’s starting to feel more real with the start of training camp. It also helps to finally get a look at some new Chicago Bears players sporting their new gear.

The Bears released a look at Chicago’s new veterans donning their new navy and blue threads, including outside linebacker Robert Quinn, receiver Ted Ginn Jr. and tight end Jimmy Graham. Graham previously released a first look at himself in his new uniform.

The Bears added three key veterans this offseason, including the former All-Pro Quinn. Quinn will be paired with stud Khalil Mack to make up one of the NFL’s most feared edge rusher duos.

Over on the offensive side of the ball, Chicago brought in Graham to lead the overhaul of their tight ends room. Graham will be the starting “U” tight end, and general manager Ryan Pace believes Graham can add an element to Chicago’s passing game. Speaking of the passing game, the Bears added speed to their receivers room with the addition of Ginn Jr., something they missed last season.

While these new veterans look great in their new uniforms, it’ll be nice to see them donning them in regular-season games in 2020.

First look at Jimmy Graham, rookies wearing a Bears uniform

The Chicago Bears shared a first look at their rookies and new TE Jimmy Graham donning navy and orange.

While there’s still a lot of uncertainty surrounding the 2020 season, it’s starting to feel more real with the start of training camp. It also helps to finally get a look at some new Chicago Bears players sporting their new gear.

The Bears released a look at Chicago’s top rookies donning navy and orange, including second-round picks tight end Cole Kmet and cornerback Jaylon Johnson, who are poised to make an immediate impact as rookies. Also pictured were fifth-round picks receiver Darnell Mooney and edge rusher Trevis Gipson.

While Kmet and Mooney are all smiles, Johnson still looks like he knows there were six cornerbacks taken ahead of him in the NFL Draft, and he’s out to prove everyone wrong.

Another new addition to Chicago’s tight ends room is veteran Jimmy Graham, who the Bears inked to a two-year, $16 million contract with $9 million guaranteed.

Graham took to Twitter to share a first look at him in a Bears uniform, which is refreshing after having to look at photos of him in a Green Bay Packers uniform. He tweeted that he can’t wait to get “back to hunting for that endzone.”

Next step: Getting to see these players and the rest of the Bears wearing their uniforms in regular-season games.

Excuse me, Sporting News ranks the Bears’ uniforms where?

There’s something to be said about simplicity when it comes to NFL uniforms. The traditional look of the Bears uniforms sets them apart.

There’s something to be said about simplicity, especially when it comes to NFL uniforms. The mark of a great uniform isn’t necessarily the boldness of it. Trying to be different than everyone else. Sometimes, tradition is enough to make it unique, recognizable among others.

Which is why it’s surprising that in ranking each of the 32 NFL team’s uniforms that Sporting News has the Bears at No. 25. As in, they’re among the worst uniforms in the league. As in, the Packers, Lions and Vikings all rank ahead of them.

Which is absolutely ridiculous.

This is another team set with its traditional look, and we respect that. The Bears also rank higher than the Colts because they at least have some versatility with their orange alternate jerseys and the classic look they used in 2019.

The Bears’ uniforms, though, are dull. As blasphemous as it sounds, a styling change in the number font and sleeve striping could work wonders. Chicago also could experiment with some white facemasks.

Chicago has a great color scheme, which makes the team’s insistence on sticking to its traditional look frustrating.

Look, I get it. Some people get sick of the same thing for an extended period of time, as evidenced by the seven NFL teams that will make changes to their uniforms in 2020.

But as they mention later in Sporting News’ article, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” And there’s nothing wrong with maintaining the traditional look Chicago has going for it.

Not only is the navy, orange and white color scheme brilliant, but the iconic “C” on their helmet makes the uniform instantly recognizable. The “GSH” on the upper left sleeves pays homage to George Halas, the man that made the NFL possible. Not to mention the “100” patch the Bears wore on their uniforms last season honoring the team’s centennial season in the NFL.

The Bears’ uniforms are far from among the worst in the league. If anything, they’re some of the most recognizable. Whether it’s the classic navy jersey/white pants, white jersey/navy pants, the orange alternate jersey or the special centennial throwbacks, the Bears certainly don’t merit a ranking among the bottom eight.

And considering the Packers are ranked all the way at No. 4, this list becomes invalid.

Bears to wear centennial ‘classic’ uniforms Thursday vs. Cowboys

The Bears will once again don their centennial “classic” 1936-inspired uniforms this Thursday against the Cowboys.

The Chicago Bears will once again don their centennial “classic” uniforms in Thursday night’s game against the Dallas Cowboys at Soldier Field, and there’s a ton on the line for the Bears.

After the Seattle Seahawks (10-2) defeated the Minnesota Vikings (8-4) on Monday night, the Bears are two games out of that final Wild Card spot — and they currently hold the tiebreaker over the Vikings, with another meeting against Minnesota slated for the regular-season finale.

The Bears previously wore their 1936-inspired uniforms back in Week 4 against the Minnesota Vikings, where Chicago dismantled the Vikings 16-6.

Chicago, who is riding a two-game winning streak, will be looking for some more of that magic come Thursday as they fight to remain alive in the NFC Wild Card race.
