Bears Week 2 inactives: Chase Claypool IN, D’Onta Foreman OUT vs. Bucs

The Bears have released their inactives ahead of today’s game vs. Bucs, where Chase Claypool will indeed play.

The Chicago Bears have released their inactives ahead of their Week 2 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where Chicago desperately needs a win as they look to snap an active 11-game losing streak.

Following a lackluster effort in the season opener, wide receiver Chase Claypool is in fact active, as previously reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter. We’ll see if he can bounce back with a strong outing against Tampa.

Right guard Nate Davis was previously ruled out as he’s dealing with a death in his family. Cornerback Josh Blackwell was also ruled out with a hamstring injury.

But there are a couple of surprise inactives with running back D’Onta Foreman, an indication we could see a lot more of rookie Roschon Johnson, as well as wide receiver Equanimeous St. Brown, who’s the team’s best blocking wideout.

Here’s a look at the Bears’ inactives:

  • QB Tyson Bagent
  • DB Josh Blackwell
  • RG Nate Davis
  • RB D’Onta Foreman
  • DL Khalid Kareem

The Chicago Bears have released their inactives ahead of their 2023 season opener against the Green Bay Packers, where Chicago is looking to snap their eight-game losing streak against Green Bay.

Wide receivers Velus Jones Jr. and Equanimeous St. Brown are two notable healthy scratches. With Jones sidelined, rookie Tyler Scott could be in line for kickoff returns with newcomer Trent Taylor fielding punts.

Rookie quarterback Tyson Bagent is also inactive, which means Nathan Peterman is officially the backup quarterback. With Bagent being inactive, he’s officially the team’s emergency quarterback, as he’s on the 53-man roster.

The Bears previously ruled out quarterback Justin Fields, who is battling a hip strain. That means it’ll be Nathan Peterman getting the start against Minnesota with Tim Boyle backing him up.

Chicago will also be shorthanded at cornerback, where all three starters from a week ago are sidelined. Top rookie Kyler Gordon, battling a groin injury and illness, has officially been ruled out. He joins undrafted rookies Jaylon Jones (concussion) and Josh Blackwell (IR) who won’t suit up.

Defensive tackle Angelo Blackson is a notable healthy scratch in this game.

The Chicago Bears (3-10) have released their inactives ahead of their Week 15 game against the Philadelphia Eagles (12-1), where Chicago is looking to break a six-game losing streak.

The Bears will be shorthanded at receiver for Sunday’s game. Chase Claypool had previously been ruled out with a knee injury. Now, N’Keal Harry will be sidelined with a back injury despite being a full participant in practice all week. Chicago elevate Nsimba Webster to the active roster from the practice squad.

The good news? Cornerback Kindle Vildor will be active, giving Chicago its starting secondary back for the first time in several weeks. Rookies Jaquan Brisker and Kyler Gordon will make their returns to the lineup after being sidelined for the previous two games while in concussion protocol.

Elsewhere, rookies Jaquan Brisker and Kyler Gordon will miss a second consecutive game. They were previously ruled out as they remain in concussion protocol.

Cornerback Kindle Vildor is also inactive , leaving the Bears even more thin in the secondary. It’ll be Jaylon Jones getting the start opposite Jaylon Johnson. It’s also worth noting that fullback Khari Blasingame is inactive, which is a bit of a surprise.

The Bears have released their inactives ahead of today’s game against the Falcons, and Justin Fields is officially inactive.

The Chicago Bears (3-8) have released their inactives ahead of their Week 12 game against the New York Jets (6-4), where Chicago is looking to break a four-game losing streak.

Unfortunately, they’ll have to do it without starting quarterback Justin Fields, who’s officially inactive for Sunday’s matchup. Fields suffered a separated left shoulder last week, which left him limited in practice. He was a game-time decision, but Chicago chose to rest their young QB against a dominant Jets defensive front.

Trevor Siemian will get the starting nod in place of Fields, while Nathan Peterman, who was promoted from the practice squad, will back him up.

Elsewhere, rookies Jaquan Brisker and Kyler Gordon were previously ruled out as they remain in concussion protocol.

The Chicago Bears (3-7) have released their inactives ahead of their Week 11 game against the Atlanta Falcons (4-6), where Chicago is looking to break a three-game losing streak.

There’s plenty of good news on the injury front as the Bears get back several starters. That includes right guard Teven Jenkins, who missed last week’s game with a hip injury. He’s been arguably their best offensive lineman this season.

Defensive end Al-Quadin Muhammad (knee) and cornerback Kindle Vildor (ankle) are also officially back in the lineup after missing last week. Rookie receiver Velus Jones Jr. is officially active for today’s game after being a healthy scratch over the last two weeks.

There are some notable names on the inactives list, including injured cornerback Kindle Vildor (ankle) and defensive end Al-Quadin Muhammad (knee).

But there are some surprises, including right guard Teven Jenkins, who was questionable with a hip injury. Receivers N’Keal Harry and rookie Velus Jones Jr. are healthy scratches.

The good news is cornerback Jaylon Johnson (oblique) is good to go. Also, receiver Byron Pringle, freshly activated off injured reserve, will see his first game action since suffering a calf injury back in Week 3.
