WATCH: Caleb Williams launches deep pass to DJ Moore at Bears OTAs

Caleb Williams and DJ Moore ended Bears OTAs on a high note with this impressive play.

The Chicago Bears wrapped up the last of their organized team activities (OTAs) on Friday, and quarterback Caleb Williams and the offense made sure to end on a high note.

With the media in attendance, the Bears offense rebounded from a rough first week. Williams was dialed in, completing 13 of 15 passes in 7-on-7 drills, according to The Athletic’s Adam Jahns. Williams’ production came against the starting defense, though they were missing a number of starters in the secondary, including Jaylon Johnson, Jaquan Brisker, and Kevin Byard.

The Bears shared one of those throws on social media, which was a deep pass to wide receiver DJ Moore. Williams loaded up and fired a long pass to Moore in the middle of the field, with safety Elijah Hicks in coverage. Moore adjusted slightly to make the catch as Williams put the ball where Hicks couldn’t get it. The clip then cuts to Moore dancing and celebrating with his teammates after the big play.

Since Keenan Allen has been absent from OTAs and rookie Rome Odunze missed a week due to injury, Williams and Moore have had numerous opportunities to establish their connection in practice. It looks to be in good shape heading into the team’s mandatory minicamp next week. Williams, Moore, and the rest of the Bears will be back on the practice field beginning June 4th.

WATCH: Bears DB Eddie Jackson gets interception vs. Browns

Eddie Jackson gets his first interception of the season in a big moment against the Browns.

It was only a matter of time until Chicago Bears safety Eddie Jackson got himself an interception this season, and it came at the perfect time against the Cleveland Browns. The Browns were backed up in their own territory when quarterback Joe Flacco threw a duck while under pressure that landed right in the hands of Jackson. The veteran defensive back set up his blockers and took the ball all the way down to the one-yard line.

Jackson nearly had his first defensive touchdown since the 2020 season but was stopped just short. Fortunately, the Bears were able to convert after a stressful goal line series, culminating with a touchdown from Justin Fields to Cole Kmet to take the 7-0 lead. Cleveland responded, however, to tie things up at 7-7 near the end of the first half.

WATCH: Bears get off to hot start with DJ Moore TD vs. Commanders

That was fast. Justin Fields and DJ Moore connect to give the Bears an early lead.

The Chicago Bears wanted the ball and they wanted to score to start their game against the Washington Commanders. Mission accomplished. The Bears opened the game with an impressive scoring drive thanks to quarterback Justin Fields and wide receiver D.J. Moore. Fields and Moore connected twice for a total of 78 yards, the second of which resulted in a touchdown to give the Bears the early 7-0 lead.

After a 58-yard strike that got the Bears into the red zone, Fields found Moore in the corner of the end zone for a 20-yard score in between two defenders. Fields started the game 2-of-3 for 78 yards.

The Bears lead Washington 7-0 in the first quarter.

WATCH: Bears QB Tyson Bagent rushes for TD vs. Bills

The undrafted rookie is making plays with his legs for the second preseason game in a row.

Another preseason game, another spectacular rushing touchdown from Chicago Bears quarterback Tyson Bagent. The undrafted rookie out of Shepherd continues to turn heads this preseason and relieved Justin Fields as QB2 to start the second quarter against the Buffalo Bills. A few possessions later, he led the Bears to their first touchdown drive of the day on an eight-yard run.

Bagent and the Bears orchestrated a drive that spanned nine plays and 42 yards. Just like last week against the Indianapolis Colts, Bagent and rookie running back Roschon Johnson were the catalysts for the drive. Johnson’s 11-yard screen pass from Bagent on fourth down kept the chains moving, and a few plays later, the quarterback scrambled for another first down before doing it again to get the touchdown.

The rushing score was Bagent’s second of the preseason, as he continues to make a case to be the team’s primary backup. He followed that drive with a near touchdown pass to tight end Stephen Carlson that was dropped before getting intercepted. Bagent finished the first half going 4-of-10 for 18 yards and an interception.

At halftime, the Bears trail the Bills 17-10.

WATCH: Bears rookie CB Tyrique Stevenson comes down with INT vs. Bills

The Bears rookie missed out on interception opportunities earlier in the preseason, but not this week.

Last week, Chicago Bears rookie cornerback Tyrique Stevenson let an interception go right through his hands for a touchdown against the Indianapolis Colts. The week before, he missed another one against the Tennessee Titans. He said he wasn’t going to let that happen again and backed that up on Saturday.

In the final preseason game against the Buffalo Bills, Stevenson came away with his first professional interception. On Buffalo’s second possession, backup quarterback Kyle Allen was driving the offense downfield and looked towards the left sideline on a deep pass to Gabe Davis. Stevenson had tight coverage and looked back for the ball just in time to get a pick and stay in bounds at the same time.

Stevenson was drafted by the Bears in the second round out of Miami (FL) and became the favorite to start opposite Jaylon Johnson at the boundary corner position earlier in the summer. He’s had an up-and-down preseason with penalties and missed chances, but he made the most of that opportunity and gave the ball back to the offense.

The turnover allowed Justin Fields and the offense to move downfield, thanks to a huge catch and run by D.J. Moore. The Bears got a field goal out of it and trail 7-3 in the second quarter.

WATCH: Justin Fields finds Khalil Herbert for long Bears TD

After Moore’s long touchdown, Khalil Herbert got one of his own.

The Chicago Bears offense poured it on in the first quarter of their preseason opener against the Tennessee Titans. Following a screen pass from Justin Fields to D.J. Moore that went for a score on their first drive, the Bears found a way to score again on another long catch and run on the next series.

On the Bears’ second possession facing a third-and-long, Fields spun out of a would-be sack to find Herbert wide open. With downfield blocking from linemen like Cody Whitehair, Herbert took the pass 56 yards all the way to the house to put the Bears up 14-7.

The long score was the final play for Fields, who finished the day 3-for-3 with 129 yards and two touchdowns. Though he didn’t throw the ball downfield, it was a successful opener for the third-year quarterback.

Midway through the second quarter, the Bears lead the Titans 14-14 at Soldier Field.

WATCH: Justin Fields finds Robert Tonyan for one-handed touchdown at Bears minicamp

The Bears wrapped up their mandatory minicamp on Thursday, but gave fans a parting gift as they left Halas Hall.

The Chicago Bears wrapped up their mandatory minicamp on Thursday, but gave fans a parting gift as they left Halas Hall. Following the final practice, the Bears posted video of a highlight that took place featuring quarterback Justin Fields and tight end Robert Tonyan.

The highlight was a dart thrown by Fields to Tonyan in the end zone, who made a one-handed grab to secure the touchdown. The ball was thrown just over linebacker T.J. Edwards’ hand and Tonyan was covered by safety Elijah Hicks.

The talk of the offseason has been the Bears’ addition of wide receiver D.J. Moore, but Tonyan is another new face in this offense and Fields is finding ways to get him the ball. Tonyan signed a one-year deal in free agency back in March after spending the last six seasons with the Green Bay Packers. Playing alongside Cole Kmet, Tonyan should see plenty of opportunities as a complimentary player in the offense.

This highlight might be the last one fans see for a while as the team is off until training camp later next month, but it has many of them pumped for what’s to come.

Bears offense looked competent on opening touchdown drive

The Bears marched down the field on their opening possession and David Montgomery punched it in from 4 yards out.

Following a brutal offensive showing against the Cleveland Browns, the Chicago Bears were determined to rebound in Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions. So much so that they elected to receive the ball after winning the coin toss.

And guess what? The Bears looked like a competent NFL offense.

Chicago marched 75 yards in 12 plays in 6:11 to score a touchdown on their opening possession — a four-yard touchdown run by running back David Montgomery to give the Bears a 7-0 lead in the first quarter.

The Bears ran the ball nine times on that possession, which included Montgomery’s six carries for 31 yards and his score.

Rookie quarterback Justin Fields completed all three of his passes for 29 yards, including a 21-yard pass to receiver Darnell Mooney.

The Bears lead the Lions 7-0 in the first quarter.

Bears highlight: Robert Quinn, Angelo Blackson combine for early sack vs. Browns

Bears OLB Robert Quinn and DT Angelo Blackson combined for a sack on Baker Mayfield.

The Chicago Bears defense has gotten off to a solid start against the Cleveland Browns, where they’ve stopped the Browns offense on fourth down on consecutive drives.

Facing 4th-and-5 from Chicago’s 38-yard line, outside linebacker Robert Quinn and defensive tackle Angelo Blackson combined for a sack on quarterback Baker Mayfield.

Quinn, who has recorded at least 0.5 sack in each of the first three games, now has a team-high 3.0 sacks on the season.

The Bears lead the Browns 3-0 in the second quarter.

WATCH: Bears RB David Montgomery runs over the Jaguars defense for TD

The Bears offense leaned on a heavy dose of running back David Montgomery, who scored his first touchdown against the Jaguars.

For much of the afternoon, the Chicago Bears running game had taken a backseat to the passing attack against the Jaguars. In the third quarter, however, that finally changed and resulted in another touchdown for Chicago.

Following the Bears last possession where quarterback Mitchell Trubisky scrambled for a touchdown, the offense responded with a heavy dose of running back David Montgomery. The bruising back had 33 yards on the drive, including a six-yard touchdown to extend the Bears lead to 27-10.

Following an interception by linebacker Roquan Smith on the Jaguars ensuing drive, the Bears are threatening yet again as the third quarter winds down.

The Bears lead 34-10 in the third quarter.
