Texas basketball drops in lastest AP Top 25 Poll

Texas falls two spots in the latest top 25 rankings.

A 1-1 week on the court drops Texas basketball to No. 8 in the updated AP Top 25 Poll.

The Longhorns were upset on the road against Texas Tech on Monday before bouncing back with an overtime win over rival Oklahoma on the weekend.

Texas still sits firmly in the mix for the Big 12 regular season title. The Horns are tied with No. 3 Kansas at 10-4 in Big 12 play with four games remaining. No. 8 Baylor is lurking, just one game back from a share of first place.

Rodney Terry has the Longhorns in position for their highest NCAA Tournament seeding since 2008. The committee announced Texas as the No. 5 overall team before its win vs. the Sooners. With games against four ranked teams left on the schedule, Texas can play itself into a No. 1 seed for March Madness.

Texas hosts No. 23 Iowa State on Tuesday in an all important Big 12 matchup.
