5 NFL franchises better suited for Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa

Out of these, where would you like to see Tua if he is traded from Miami?

The Miami Dolphins found themselves with a top-five pick in the 2020 NFL Draft and were bound and determined to pick up a potential franchise quarterback from the college ranks with the pick.

Joe Burrow went No. 1 overall to the Cincinnati Bengals on opening day, leaving Tua Tagovailoa and Justin Herbert on the board for the Dolphins to choose from.

In hindsight, their pick isn’t looking like it’s panning out the way the organization intended it to, and partly to blame is the situation Tagovailoa has found himself in.

The Dolphins have the worst offensive line in the NFL, according to PFF grades.

That doesn’t begin to tell the whole story, however. This Miami offensive line isn’t just the worst in the NFL, but it’s a historically bad unit. The group is allowing the highest pressure rate in the league (43.3% according to PFF’s grading algorithm).

This leads to a paltry average depth of target of 6.9 yards for the second-year quarterback, demonstrating an obvious cause and effect relationship.

So, where better for Tua? I’m glad you asked. I’ve compiled a list of five NFL franchises that would better serve the talent Tagovailoa brings to the table.

WATCH: Trevon Diggs records 11th interception; ties Cowboys single-season record set back in 1981

The former Alabama star needs one more to break a long-standing Cowboys record!

Trevon Diggs has been one hell of a ballhawk this season. The former Crimson Tide DB just snagged his eleventh interception on the season off of a Taylor Heinicke deep-ball during Sunday Night Football against the Washington Football Team. Nobody in Dallas Cowboys history has matched that number since 1981, when the single-season interception record was broken by Everson Walls.

To say that nobody saw this coming a few weeks ago would be incorrect. Alabama fans knew the caliber of athlete Dallas was acquiring in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft. But, what we may not have known is how quickly Diggs would accomplish this feat – he is just in his sophomore season in the league.

With two games still to go in this 2021 NFL season, Diggs needs just one more pick to take hold of that single-season interception record held by Walls. Can he do it? Alabama faithful will likely give you a resounding “yes”.

WATCH: DeVonta Smith makes a gorgeous toe-drag catch in the endzone for a TD

Incredible acrobatic grab for the Heisman Trophy winner!

Former Good Morning Football co-host and current CBS Mornings co-host Nate Burleson would love this catch made by Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith in the endzone.

The pass was launched from the true arm of Jalen Hurts on a play from the four late in the third quarter. The play helped to extend the Eagles’ lead over the New York Giants by a score of 20-3.

Prior to the start of this one, the Heisman Trophy-winning wide receiver from Alabama had caught 53 passes for 741 yards and four touchdowns.

He’ll add 80 more yards and one more touchdown to those statistics after today.

Jaguars designate Dylan Moses to return to practice

The former Crimson Tide star has been on the Reserve/Non-Football Injury list since he signed as an undrafted free agent in May.

Rookie linebacker Dylan Moses has officially been designated to return to practice by the Jacksonville Jaguars and took part in his first practice of the year on Wednesday.

Before now, he was listed on the reserve/non-football injury list during most of the regular season. The non-football injury designation means that Moses suffered his injury outside of team activities – in his case, before he joined the Jaguars in May as an undrafted rookie.

Moses suffered a torn ACL in August of 2019 prior to the beginning of that season.  In 2020, Moses played most of the year with another knee injury, and he had post-season surgery on Feb. 9 to repair a torn meniscus.

While it’s not likely that he’ll see any playing time this season, the designation does mean that he has a 21-day window to be added to the active roster.

Moses led the Crimson Tide in tackles with 80 in 2020 during their national championship run.

3 former Crimson Tide stars make NFL Pro Bowl roster

Big-time honor for these former Alabama studs!

Nick Saban and Alabama have produced tons of NFL talent since the latter’s arrival to the Capstone in 2007. During the 2021 NFL Draft, the Crimson Tide tied a record with six first-round selections, matching Miami’s tally from 2001.

That pool of talent isn’t just riding the bench at the next level, either. According to the Ourlads NFL Scouting Service, Alabama has 43 players starting at various positions in the league.

While the majority won’t earn honors such as making the Pro Bowl (it’s just unlikely), the Tide will boast three former players in this year’s iteration.

Ryan Kelly of the Indianapolis Colts, Trevon Diggs of the Dallas Cowboys and Jonathan Allen of the Washington Football Team will represent their respective teams and conferences in the 2022 NFL Pro Bowl.

WATCH: Damien Harris breaks a big run for a TD during Monday Night Football

Damien Harris is good, folks!

New England Patriots running back Damien Harris is right at home playing behind a fellow Crimson Tide alumnus in rookie QB Mac Jones. The two appear to be doing fine together playing for the current No. 1 seed in the AFC.

The Patriots don’t appear willing to pass the ball so far during the first quarter while going against the wind, so they’ve chosen to run the whole way.

It’s paid off. Harris got the carry on a third down play at their own 36 yard line. He broke through the line of scrimmage and easily got into the endzone for a 64-yard touchdown run.

The Patriots now lead 8-0 late in the first quarter.

WATCH: Patrick Surtain III takes interception 70 yards to the house

Patrick Surtain gets his second interception of the day, this one for six!

The Los Angeles Chargers are taking on AFC West rivals the Denver Broncos this afternoon, and it isn’t looking good for Bolts QB Justin Herbert so far.

The Chargers were driving down the field methodically while down 21-7 with just under eight minutes to go in the first half when Herbert’s pass intended to Austin Ekeler was tipped and intercepted.

Former Crimson Tide DB Patrick Surtain III managed to execute a tip drill to catch the sailing ball and took it 70 yards down the field for a Broncos touchdown.

It was Surtain’s second interception of the afternoon after grabbing his first just seven minutes earlier.

Son of Trevon Diggs has hilarious Thanksgiving message

Trevon Diggs’ son with the savagery!

Cowboys DB Trevon Diggs is just in his second year in the NFL, but you wouldn’t know it by watching him play this season.

The Alabama alumnus has intercepted a total of eight passes on the season for Dallas, bringing his career total up to 11. He got just three interceptions throughout all of last season.

To start the season, Diggs caught an interception in six consecutive games, marking the first time a Cowboys player had done so in decades.

On Thursday, Thanksgiving Day, Diggs’ son Aaiden had a hilarious message for opposing quarterbacks throwing the ball in the vicinity of his dad.

WATCH: Jalen Hurts connects with DeVonta Smith for 6

What an electric play by the two Tide alumni!

Jalen Hurts is running for his life out there against my beloved Los Angeles Chargers. Unfortunately for me and my team, however, he’s also running for first downs to give the Philadelphia Eagles extra sets of downs.

After picking up two key third-down conversions with his legs, the former Crimson Tide QB was able to find Alabama’s only Heisman-winning wide receiver, DeVonta Smith, in the open field.

Both Hurts and Smith are beloved alumni of the Crimson Tide, and they’re showing that they can play together at a very efficient level. Good things are sure to come from this dynamic duo as they both find their footing in the professional ranks of the NFL.

Stay tuned to Roll Tide Wire for continued coverage of Crimson Tide alumni in the NFL.
