Michigan football commit wins Rivals five-star camp MVP

Big time! #GoBlue

Earlier on Wednesday, Ohio State fans were crowing because one of its commits, edge rusher London Merritt, won a rep against a Michigan football commit, offensive lineman Avery Gach.

But one rep does not a camp make, just like one rep does not a game make.

Based on the entire body of his work, the Birmingham (Michigan) Groves four-star offensive lineman shined in the Rivals Five-Star Camp, which featured some of the best recruits in the 2025 class. When it was all said and done and the Rivals brass had to choose the best of the best, Gach received offensive line MVP honors.

Rivals’ Greg Smith had very positive things to say about Gach:

ā€œGach came into the event as one of the more unknown prospects because we havenā€™t seen him much at national events. He showed up big by winning offensive line MVP. The Michigan commit is strong at the point of attack and once he got his hands on opposing defenders the rep was over. Gach was also very athletic and even competed in the fastest man competition. Heā€™s in line for a very nice bump in the next rankings update.ā€

Gach was joined by Ohio State quarterback commit Tavien St. Clair, LSU running back commit Harlem Berry, IMG Academy wide receiver Donovan Olugbode, 2026 defensive tackle Deuce Geralds and linebacker Riley Pettijohn in having won position MVP honors.

MSU target, 4-star OL Avery Gach commits to rival Michigan

MSU has came up short against their rivals in a battle for a big-time offensive lineman prospect in the 2025 class

The Spartans have came up just short against their rivals in a battle for a big-time offensive lineman prospect in the 2025 class.

Avery Gach of Franklin, Mich. committed to Michigan on Friday afternoon, picking the Wolverines over Michigan State, Ohio State and Wisconsin. Gach is a four-star prospect in the 2025 class.

Gach ranks as the No. 13 interior offensive lineman and No. 196 overall prospect in 247Sports’ rankings for the 2025 class. He’s also listed as the No. 2 player from Michigan.

Gach had been projected to end up at Michigan for the past few weeks so the choice does not come as a surprise. This still, however, is a prospect the Spartans would have loved to add to their 2025 class.

Wisconsin loses top 2025 offensive tackle target to a Big Ten rival

Wisconsin loses top 2025 offensive tackle target to a Big Ten rival

Four-star class of 2025 offensive tackle Avery Gach announced his collegiate commitment to the University of Michigan on Friday afternoon.Ā

Wisconsin was among the Michigan nativeā€™s final list — along with Michigan, Ohio State and Michigan State.Ā

Gach received 40 total offers dating back to October of 2022. UW extended its offer on December 13, 2022. Other notable programs on his offer sheet include Auburn, Alabama, Georgia, Florida State and Texas A&M.

247Sports ranked the 6-foot-5 lineman as a four-star. He also is currently the No. 196 player in the class of 2025, No. 13 at his position and No. 2 recruit from the state of Michigan. Gach visited Wisconsin in March and November 2023, according to Rivals.

247Sports’ Allen Trieu projected Gach as a Power 5 starter and compared him to Baltimore Ravens’ guard Ben Bredeson.

The versatile lineman would have been a mammoth recruiting victory for Luke Fickell and Phil Longo’s offensive unit. Instead, Gach will venture to Ann Arbor to play under Sherrone Moore and the defending champion Michigan Wolverines.

Wisconsinā€™s class of 2025 currently ranks No. 18 in the nation with 10 total commitments.

Michigan football lands a key commitment from in-state target

Getting some momentum on the trail! #GoBlue

Michigan football has landed a commitment from four-star offensive lineman Avery Gach. He chose the Wolverines over Ohio State, Michigan State, and Wisconsin.

Gach, who plays at Wylie E. Groves High School in Franklin, Michigan, holds a .9138 grade on the 247Composite which makes him the 236th highest-graded player nationally and the second-highest-graded in Michigan. Gach is the fifth commit in the 2025 class and the third-highest-graded on the 247Sports Composite.

Recruiting hasnā€™t gone very well for the maize and blue as of late. The Wolverines lost running back Marquise Davis to Kentucky after the Wildcats made a last-second push to swoop in for the Ohio State player of the year earlier this week. Michigan needed a commitment to get the sour taste out of its mouth, and Gach had the perfect timeline after moving up his decision. It would have been ideal to land both Davis and Gach relatively back-to-back, but snagging one of the two is good news for a class that has struggled to close on targets.

Gach is listed on most recruiting websites as an offensive tackle, but he will likely end up as a guard at the next level. He’s got the height to slide along the line but should continue the tradition of having mean run blockers on either side of the center. Last year the Wolverines had a terrific offensive line class, so it’s possible that Michigan only takes three or so this time around. Either way, Gach is the perfect high-ceiling player to have around the program.

Michigan now holds commitments from Gach, the second-highest-graded player in Michigan, and Bobby Kanka, who is the third-highest-graded in the state. Michigan isn’t expected to push hard for any other in-staters, but a late riser or plan-C type of player could end up in the class. Either way, the Wolverines landed two of their three targets from the Mitten State after missing on arguably the top player in the country Bryce Underwood. The staff has struggled to fully capitalize on their on-field success with gaudy recruits, but there has not been an issue keeping in-staters rocking the maize and blue.

Ohio State football 2025 offensive tackle target Avery Gach to commit on Friday

The Buckeyes could be adding to their 2025 class tomorrow. #GoBucks

Ohio State football has a big need at offensive line, and it may have the issue addressed on Friday.

[autotag]Avery Gach[/autotag], a 2025 Michigan offensive tackle will make his commitment on Friday, as he will choose from four schools: Michigan State, Wisconsin, Michigan or the Buckeyes. At 6-foot, 5-inches and 290-pounds, the tackle is a very highly rated prospect, as heā€™s the No. 236 overall player and 15th interior offensive lineman according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

At the current moment, it doesnā€™t look like Ohio State will be the pick, as every single one of the eight 247Sports Crystal Ball picks are in favor of the Wolverines.

Currently, Ohio State has one offensive lineman in its 2025 class, tackle Carter Lowe.

Wisconsin class of 2025 OT target announces commitment date

Wisconsin class of 2025 OT target announces commitment date

Wisconsin top class of 2025 offensive line target Avery Gach will announce his college commitment at 2:15 p.m. central, 3:15 p.m. eastern on Friday, May 3.

Wisconsin is one of Gach’s final four schools, along with Michigan, Ohio State and Michigan State. Other notable programs to have offered the top lineman include Auburn, Alabama, Georgia, Florida State and Texas A&M.

247Sports ranks the 6-foot-5 lineman as a four-star recruit and as the No. 196 player in the class of 2025, No. 13 at his position and No. 2 recruit from the state of Michigan. He took unofficial visits to Wisconsin in March and November of 2023, according to Rivals.

247Sports’ Allen Trieu projects the lineman as a Power-4 starter and compares him to Baltimore Ravens’ guard Ben Bredeson.

The versatile lineman would be a huge victory for Luke Fickell and Phil Longo’s offensive unit. Wisconsin is certainly an attractive landing spot for Gach with Wisconsin’s recent success in developing offensive lineman. The program’s class of 2025 currently ranks No. 21 in the nation with eight total commitments. Gach would immediately be the highest-rated player in the class.

The Michigan native does eight crystal ball predictions to choose the Wolverines, including from Wisconsin insider Nick Osen and Michigan insider Sam Webb.

The commitment will be streamed on the 247Sports YouTube channel, per Allen Trieu.

Michigan football trending for elite in-state 2025 O-lineman

Gotta get him in the fold! #GoBlue

You can never take for granted when you have elite talent in your backyard. Just ask Michigan football with five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood, who chose LSU over going to school 18 miles away from his current high school.

Over the years, the Wolverines have let some of the top talent in the state of Michigan slip through their fingers. Sure, some big names have stayed homeĀ  — such as running back Donovan Edwards or cornerback Will Johnson — but for every one of those, there’s been an Underwood, a Dante Moore or a Spindler brother.

The maize and blue, however, have done a stellar job at recruiting 2025 Birmingham (Michigan) Groves offensive tackle Avery Gach, who has visited Ann Arbor multiple times throughout his recruitment. However, Gach has been keen on giving some other big schools a chance. Ohio State seems to be the primary competition.

But in the past 10 days, Gach has received seven 247Sports crystal ball predictions indicating that he will spurn the Buckeyes for his hometown Wolverines.

The most recent predictions come from Tom Loy (April 24), Spartan Tailgate’s Stephen Brooks and Bucknuts’ Bill Kurelic (April 22), TMI’s Sam Webb and Brice Marich (April 20) and Allen Trieu (April 15).

At 6-foot-5, 290 pounds, Gach is the No. 196 player in the country and the second-best player in the state of Michigan — behind only the aforementioned Underwood.

The scouting report via 247Sports’ Allen Trieu, where he compares him to former Michigan standout Ben Bredeson:

High school offensive tackle who can be a swing guy at the next level. Tenacious, physical player who goes to the whistle and finishes plays. Shows functional strength and pad level in addition to the pure willingness to want to move defenders off the ball, all making for a dominant run blocker. Still technically coming along in pass set and pass pro. Physicality shows up in his punch there also. Left tackle in high school who may be more suited as a right side option or interior player at the high-major level. Has added good weight and strength and will continue to do so. Is a solid base-level athlete, but can also continue to improve on pure explosiveness and lateral agility. High-floor type prospect who will give a high-major school depth at several positions and should be a dependable multiyear starter at the Power Five level.

He also has offers from Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Penn State, Tennessee, Texas A&M and USC among others.

The new MSU football staff has re-extended an offer to a big-time Michigan prospect from the 2025 class

Michigan State is one of numerous big-time programs to show interest in Gach. He also holds offers from Michigan, Ohio State, Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Miami (FL), Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Penn State and USC.
