2022 World Cup: Tunisia vs. Australia odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Tunisia vs. Australia odds and lines, with World Cup soccer expert picks, predictions and best bets.

To continue Group D group stage action, Australia (0 wins, 1 loss, 0 draws) will take on Tunisia (0-0-1) Saturday at the Al Janoub Stadium with kickoff set for 5 a.m. ET (FS1). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Tunisia vs. Australia odds, and make our best World Cup bets, picks and predictions.

Australia, No. 38 in FIFA world rankings, entered the tournament after a 2-0 win New Zealand. Having 10 shots and a clean sheet in that win didn’t matter when they took on Group D favorite France to open World Cup play. Despite taking the lead with an opening 9th-minute goal, Australia stood little chance and lost the game 4-1.

Tunisia, ranked 30th in the FIFA rankings, has never emerged from the group stage in 5 previous World Cup appearances. They did get a 0-0 draw with Denmark to open up the tournament. Tunisia is not known for its attacking prowess, but it had more shots than Denmark (13-11) despite having just 38% of the possession.

Prediction

Tunisia 2, Australia 1

Moneyline (ML)

BET TUNISIA (+115).

This one is going to be difficult to call considering Australia is not an extraordinarily strong team as we saw in the 4-1 loss to France. Although they scored first, I do not see them being strong enough to defend this Tunisian squad.
Tunisia had double-digit shots on a solid Denmark side. Simply put, Tunisia looked like the better team in the 1st group stage match and has more high-quality talent on their side.

Over/Under (O/U)

LEAN OVER 2.5 (+130).

We know that Australia is capable of scoring — they shocked France in the 9th minute to put them ahead 1-0 — but the only goals I see Australia scoring are when a team is caught flat-footed. Their squad is just too weak overall and they will not be able to defend against an attack of any team.

Expect a healthy dose of F Wahbi Khazri who plays for Montpelier, a French team. Tunisia did enough against Denmark to show they can move the ball offensively, and this will be a much easier matchup.

2022 World Cup: France vs. Australia odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s France vs. Australia odds and lines, with World Cup soccer expert picks, predictions and best bets.

In a Group D group stage match on Tuesday, France will take on Australia with kickoff at Al Janoub Stadium set for 2 p.m. ET (FOX). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the France vs. Australia odds, and make our best World Cup bets, picks and predictions.

France is among the tournament favorites to win it all, but they will be without Ballon d’Or winner F Karim Benzema, who will miss the entire World Cup. France still has an ultra-deep lineup and arguably the best player in the tournament in F Kylian Mbappe. Other household names include F Ousmane Dembele and F Antoine Griezmann.

Australia comes into this World Cup confident after a 2-0 win over New Zealand in their most recent match. Having 10 shots and a clean sheet should have them ready to take on the defending World Cup champions.

Being 32nd in the FIFA rankings is not quite ideal considering their opponent is ranked No. 4. The Aussies are only projected to have an 8% chance to pull out the win over France, especially with a weak attack overall.

Prediction

France 2, Australia 0

Moneyline (ML)

PASS.

France is clearly the better team and all of these values are most definitely justified, and they do not pose enticing lines.

A draw (+520) is not a terrible option, but overall it would be the safest to pass on this fixture and look for value in the total.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET UNDER 2.5 (+115).

Australia has yet to play a squad with the talent and class that France has. Australia should have an immensely difficult time just possessing the ball given France’s dominance in the midfield.

Even though they will miss their most aggressive goalscorer in Benzema, France has too many attacking weapons and should be able to break through, although an injury to distributor M Paul Pogba could hamper how effective the strikers are.

On the other hand, most of Australia’s top-tier talent, those playing in the EPL and other top leagues, come on its backline.

Only one player, F Mathew Leckie has over 10 international goals as well. I wouldn’t expect them to have much success in controlling or attacking. They have gone Over this total just twice in their last 7 games.

Summer Olympics Men’s Basketball: Slovenia vs. Australia odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Slovenia vs. Australia odds and lines, with Summer Olympics Men’s Basketball picks, tips and best bets.

In the bronze medal match, G Luka Doncic‘s Slovenia will take on G Patty Mills‘ Australia Saturday. The game is set to tip at 7 a.m. ET inside the Saitama Super Arena. Below, we preview the Slovenia vs. Australia odds and lines, and make our best Summer Olympics bets, picks and predictions.

Superstar Doncic lost his first career international game and is now 17-1 with his national team. He’ll draw another tough match after losing to F Evan Fournier and the French team in the semifinals.

Australia is in the bronze medal game because it was absolutely torn apart by Team USA in a 97-78 defeat. The Aussies only trailed 45-42 at the half but were outscored by 22 points in the third quarter, which ultimately did them in and knocked them out of the single-elimination tournament.

Slovenia vs. Australia: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Serbia 85, Australia 78

Money line (ML)

“LEAN” on SLOVENIA -133 as Doncic will, by far, be the best player on the court. Slovenia lost by one point to a French team full of numerous NBA players including C Rudy Gobert and Fournier.

While Slovenia has the superstar, it also has 7-foot C Mike Tobey, who has played well for most of the tournament. Behind Doncic’s passing and Tobey’s height, the duo has been lethal in this tournament.

Australia does have Mills, but he likely won’t be enough. Even with G Matthew Dellavedova, there’s not enough size in their backcourt to slow down Doncic.

Sticking F Matisse Thybulle is an interesting option to defend Doncic, but we’ve seen Doncic destroy some of the NBA’s best defenders. It’s unlikely Thybulle will slow down the Slovenian.

Against the spread (ATS)

BET SLOVENIA -2.5 (-105) as the spread doesn’t do the difference between these two teams justice. While both sides ran through their Group Stage games, Australia struggled with Italy.

Slovenia had few issues until facing France, which is really good and should have a real shot at downing Team USA in the gold medal game.

Assuming that aggression from Doncic comes out as his international resume is on the line, expect a game that’s separated by more than just two points.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET UNDER 180.5 (-105) as the Australians will be a strong defensive side and should impose its will. Thybulle, G Dante Exum and Dellavedova are solid defenders and should be able to slow down Slovenia.

While I still expect Slovenia to win given the Australian’s lacking offense, it should be a low-scoring game. Every game Australia has played in has been Under 180.

While Slovenia is a talented offensive side, I’d still expect them to struggle at times. This is the best value bet in the game.

Summer Olympics Women’s Soccer: USA vs. Australia odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Thursday’s USA vs. Australia odds and lines, with Summer Olympics Women’s Soccer picks, tips and best bets.

The bronze medal match of the Summer Olympics Women’s Soccer Tournament will be played Thursday at 4 a.m. ET between the USA and Australia at Ibaraki Kashima Stadium. Below, we analyze the USA vs. Australia odds and lines, and make our best Summer Olympics bets, picks and predictions.

Both USA and Australia were dealt a 1-0 loss in their semifinals matches. The Americans fell to Canada and Australia was topped by Sweden. Canada and Sweden play for gold Thursday night in Tokyo.

The US Women’s National Team (USWNT), including stars Alex Morgan and Megan Rapinoe, was disappointed to be dropped into the third-place match after winning the 2019 Women’s World Cup. Australia lost in the Round of 16 in that tournament. The nations entered this tournament ranked first and ninth, respectively, in the FIFA Women’s Ranking.

Prediction

USA 3, Australia 1

Money line (ML)

The USA (-135) will look to take out some frustration over a disappointing tournament against Australia and will leave Tokyo with at least a bronze medal.

Without GK Alyssa Naeher (knee) Thursday, USWNT veterans Morgan and Rapinoe will lead the way in a more spirited offensive effort. The Americans outscored the opposition 6-4, finishing second in Group G while the Aussies were outscored 5-4 in a third-place finish in the Group Stage.

USA responded well from its previous letdown in this tournament by trouncing New Zealand 6-1 after a 3-0 loss to Sweden in its tournament opener.

Over/Under (O/U)

The two sides played to a 0-0 draw in the Group Stage, but the Americans, led by an angry Rapinoe, will look to load up on offense without Naeher.

The Aussies should be able to score at least one goal against inexperienced American backup GK Adrianna Franch.

Summer Olympics Men’s Basketball: USA vs. Australia odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Thursday’s USA vs. Australia odds and lines, with Summer Olympics Men’s Basketball picks, tips and best bets.

Both semifinal games of the Summer Olympics Men’s Basketball Tournament take place Thursday morning with Team USA and Australia getting things started with a 12:15 a.m. ET tip-off at Saitama Super Arena in Tokyo. Below, we analyze the USA vs. Australia odds and lines, and make our best Summer Olympics bets, picks and predictions.

USA took care of Spain with a 95-81 victory in the quarterfinals Tuesday. F Kevin Durant was the star with 28 points, 4 assists, 2 rebounds and 2 steals. It was the third straight win for the Americans after dropping their tournament opener 83-76 against France.

Australia made the semifinals with a 97-59 rout of Argentina Tuesday. The Aussies are undefeated in the tournament with three double-digit victories and an 86-83 nail-biter against Italy.

USA vs. Australia: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

USA 93, Australia 88

Money line (ML)

USA (-800) is a heavy favorite with an implied win probability of 88.89% in the semifinal game, but it’s a foolish betting strategy to risk $100 for every $12.50 won.

While the Americans have far more NBA talent, the Australians are big and physical and have dominated on the boards all tournament. Expect them to keep it tight with a spot in the gold medal game on the line.

PASS and look to the spread.

Against the spread (ATS)

Take AUSTRALIA +12.5 (-110) with this line showing far too much disrespect.

Team USA has appeared to be in cruise control since its shocking loss in the tournament opener, but outside of France, Australia has faced the tougher competition and has had little difficulty.

It’s distant history at this point for the Americans, given their recent level of play, but Australia handed the USA a 91-83 loss in a pre-Olympics exhibition game.

Over/Under (O/U)

Lean slightly to the OVER 179.5 (-110), despite the lower score in the last meeting between these two sides.

Both USA and Australia are shooting 40% or better from 3-point range in the tournament and the Americans gave up more than 80 points in three of four games. Expect Australia to lean on the 3-point shot while trying to keep pace with Team USA.

Summer Olympics Men’s Basketball: Australia vs. Germany odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s Australia vs. Germany odds and lines, with Summer Olympics Men’s Basketball picks, tips and best bets.

In Summer Olympics Men’s Basketball action Saturday, Australia and Germany play in a 4:20 a.m. ET tip-off at Saitama Super Arena. Below, we preview the Australia vs. Germany odds and lines, and make our best Summer Olympics bets, picks and predictions.

Australia routed Nigeria 84-67 in its group play opener Sunday. The Aussies found the sledding a bit tougher Wednesday, eeking out an 86-83 win over Italy, who easily grabbed the cover.

Germany was tripped up 92-82 against Italy in its group play opener Sunday after going ice-cold in the fourth quarter. It was able to rebound, literally and figuratively, in a 99-92 win over Nigeria Wednesday as the Over connected.

Australia vs. Germany: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Australia 95, Germany 83

Money line (ML)

Australia (-375) will cost you nearly four times your potential return, and that’s just not a recommended long-term betting strategy, although it’s hard to envision a scenario that sees Germany pull the upset.

PASS, and lay the points instead.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

AUSTRALIA -8.5 (-115) has been a well-oiled machine on offense and has a deep roster chock-full of NBA talent. Germany might keep this game fairly close in the first half before the Aussies pull away and secure the double-digit victory.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 172.5 (-110) is the way to go for Australia, as it has averaged 85.0 points per game through two group play games. Germany coughed up 92 points against Nigeria, so Australia should flirt with the century mark Saturday.

Summer Olympics Women’s Soccer: Australia vs. USA odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Tuesday’s Australia vs. USA odds and lines, with Summer Olympics Women’s Soccer picks, tips and best bets.

In Summer Olympics Women’s Soccer Group G action Tuesday, Australia and USA play in a 4 a.m. ET kickoff at Ibaraki Kashima Stadium. Below, we preview the Australia vs. USA odds and lines, and make our best Summer Olympics bets, picks and predictions.

Australia opened the tournament with a 2-1 win over rival New Zealand but was doubled up by group-topper Sweden by a 4-2 count Saturday. The Aussies enter with a minus-1 goal differential and are in danger of going home without an upset Tuesday.

Team USA opened with a disappointing 3-0 loss to Sweden but rebounded nicely with a 6-1 rout of New Zealand to get well in the goal-differential department. A win or a draw will be a good result for USA.

Prediction

USA 4, Australia 1

Money line (ML)

USA (-375) will cost you nearly four times your potential return, and that’s just too expensive and risky. USA’s loss to Sweden in the group-play opener should serve as a cautionary tale on why you should not bet heavy favorites, no matter how certain things appear.

Australia (+650) is also not worth the play, as the Matildas just haven’t been hitting on all cylinders at any point during this tournament.

AVOID, and look to the alternate line of USA 0:1 (-145) for a better value, with a small-unit wager on USA 0:2 (+155) also worth a roll of the dice.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 3.5 (-145) is a tad bit pricey, but we have had an average of 5.0 goals per game in USA’s two outings, including 4 total goals allowed. The Aussies have averaged 2.0 goals per match, with a total of 9 goals scored in its two matches.
