Ole Miss at Auburn odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Ole Miss Rebels at Auburn Tigers odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The No. 9 Ole Miss Rebels (6-1, 3-1 SEC) meet the No. 21 Auburn Tigers (5-2, 2-1) Saturday at Jordan-Hare Stadium in Auburn, Alabama. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Ole Miss vs. Auburn odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

Rankings courtesy of the AFCA Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

The Rebels defeated LSU, 31-17, Saturday and have won three games in a row. Ole Miss leads the SEC in total offense (541.1 yards per game), and the Rebels have been diverse in how they distribute the ball around their roster and how they mix in the run and the pass. Dual-threat QB Matt Corral has produced 15 touchdowns with his right arm and 9 with his legs.

The Tigers are coming off a bye week. They topped Arkansas, 38-23, as four-point underdogs Oct. 16. Auburn ranks 23rd in the nation with 35.4 points per game (PPG) on offense while ranking 29th with 19.7 PPG allowed on defense. Against Ole Miss, Auburn has won five in a row and 34-of-44 all-time meetings.

Ole Miss at Auburn odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Auburn 35, Ole Miss 27

Money line

Ole Miss has piled up big rushing totals of late. In their last three games, the Rebels ran for 324 yards against Arkansas, 279 yards against Tennessee, and 265 yards against LSU.

But, Auburn presents a much tougher defense against the ground game than those three foes. The Tigers rank 34th in the nation, yielding just 126.1 yards per contest.

The Rebels are rounding out a multi-week grind portion of their schedule, while Auburn gets this one at home off a bye.

BACK AUBURN (-150).

Against the spread

Against the spread, Auburn is 12-5 over its last 17 games at home (11-2 as a favorite). In this series, the Tigers are 6-1-1 over the last eight meetings.

Ole Miss squeaked by with a cover at Tennessee two games back, but over the last three seasons, the Rebels are just 5-9 ATS away from Oxford.

TAKE AUBURN -2.5 (-122).

Over/Under

This one has slight indicators pegging an Under call. But the margin is paper-thin. PASS.

Auburn at Arkansas odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Auburn Tigers at Arkansas Razorbacks odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The No. 19 Arkansas Razorbacks (4-2, 1-2 SEC) host the Auburn Tigers (4-2, 1-1) Saturday at Razorback Stadium for a noon ET kickoff. Below, we look at the Auburn vs. Arkansas odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

Rankings according to the AFCA Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Auburn got crushed Oct. 9 at home against the No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs 34-10 as a 14.5-point home underdog, snapping a two-game winning streak. The Tigers’ only other loss this season was at the No. 8 Penn State Nittany Lions on primetime Sept. 19 in a “Penn State White Out” game.

Arkansas has lost back-to-back road games, first at Georgia 37-0 Oct. 2 then to the No. 14 Ole Miss Rebels 52-51 Oct. 9. However, the Razorbacks have exceeded the market’s expectations since they are 5-1 against the spread (ATS) this season.

Auburn squeaked past Arkansas in last year’s meeting 30-28 thanks to a game-winning field goal with 7 seconds remaining. Tigers senior QB Bo Nix is 2-0 vs. the Razorbacks with a 64.4% completion rate, four passing TDs, 0 interceptions, a 161.5 passer efficiency rating and two rushing TDs.

Auburn at Arkansas odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Auburn 27, Arkansas 24

Money line

Slight “LEAN” to AUBURN (+160) for a tiny wager if at all because I “like” the Tigers plus the points and see a little value on the underdog’s money line.

This is a sell-high spot for Arkansas and a buy-low spot for Auburn. The market is excusing the past two Arkansas losses because the Razorbacks covered as underdogs at Ole Miss and weren’t expected to on the road vs. Georgia.

On the other hand, the Tigers are a more popular football program so there’s more attention and scrutiny when Auburn losses. Especially in high-profile, nationally televised games like against Georgia and in primetime vs. Penn State.

Arkansas ranks ninth in rushing rate, but Auburn has the edge in the trenches and stout rushing defense. Auburn’s defensive line ranks fifth in the country in line yards per play (according to Football Outsiders) and 21st in yards per rush allowed (3.2).

Against the spread

Definitely BET AUBURN +4.5 (-115) heavier than or instead of the money line based on the aforementioned logic. Ultimately, I have more faith in Auburn’s ability to win the line of scrimmage and dictate the pace.

Each team has a mobile quarterback and likes to establish the run. But Auburn is much better at stopping the run whereas Arkansas’s defense is 85th in yards per rush allowed (4.5).

Over/Under

Slight “LEAN” to the UNDER 54.5 (-112) for a half unit as a fade against a market that’s betting the Over at a 66% clip at the time of this publishing (according to Pregame.com).

I see this game getting played in the trenches and there’s going to be a lot of running clock with each team looking to pound the rock.

Georgia at Auburn odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Georgia Bulldogs at Auburn Tigers odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The No. 2 Georgia Bulldogs (5-0, 3-0 SEC) travel to meet the No. 19 Auburn Tigers (4-1, 1-0) Saturday at Jordan-Hare Stadium in Auburn, Ala. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Georgia vs. Auburn odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

The Bulldogs flexed a little muscle last weekend against Arkansas, burying the Razorbacks 37-0 in between the hedges to easily cover a 16.5-point number. That’s back-to-back shutouts for Georgia, blanking the opposition by a combined score of 99-0. UGA is 4-1 ATS overall.

The Tigers went down to Baton Rouge and topped LSU 24-19 to cover as 3-point underdogs. Auburn is averaging just 26.0 points per game (PPG) across the past three games after averaging 61.0 PPG in a pair of tune-up games to start.

Rankings according to the AFCA Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Georgia at Auburn odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Georgia 33, Auburn 10

Money line

Georgia (-800) will cost you eight times your potential return, and even though it has been rolling right along, there’s just no value there.

AVOID and look to the spread instead.

Against the spread

GEORGIA -15.5 (-108) rolled against Vanderbilt, but that wasn’t much of a surprise. But the fact they put the clamps on a good Arkansas side was a bit more of a shock. The Bulldogs kept the Razorbacks from scoring, and Arkansas has a very good offense.

Auburn has struggled on offense as QB Bo Nix just isn’t terribly consistent. It’s unlikely he’ll find himself against one of the best defensive units in the nation.

Over/Under

The UNDER 46.5 (-107) is the play as Georgia has allowed nothing defensively. While I don’t expect a third consecutive shutout the Bulldogs defense, I also don’t expect Nix and the Tigers to go wild.

Plus, Auburn’s defense is good enough to at least keep Georgia’s offense somewhat in check.

Auburn at LSU odds, expert picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Auburn at LSU odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

It’s a battle of the Tigers in Baton Rouge, La., Saturday night. Kickoff is set for 9 p.m. ET between the Auburn Tigers (3-1, 0-0 SEC) and LSU Tigers (3-1, 1-0). Below, we look at the Auburn vs. LSU odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

Auburn has had an unbalanced schedule with one brutal road tilt at Penn State in Week 3 (a 28-20 loss) surrounded by three wins against Georgia State, Alabama State, and Akron. The Tigers are one of just two teams in the country with a top-20 offense and defense in terms of yards per play (7.1 and 4.5, respectively). The other is Arkansas.

LSU has recovered from its opening-week loss to UCLA, reeling off three straight wins including a 28-25 nailbiter over Mississippi State last week. QB Max Johnson has an excellent 15/3 TD/INT ratio and is averaging 8.5 yards per attempt; however, LSU’s pass defense looked porous without star CB Derek Stingley Jr., in the Mississippi State game (371 yards, 3 TDs). Stingley is questionable as of publishing.

Auburn at LSU odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Auburn 30, LSU 27

Money line

LSU is getting most of its 3.5-point boost because this is a home game at night. Auburn has shown it can handle a hostile road environment, hanging tough at Penn State earlier this season, and the uncertainty around Stingley has us leaning slightly toward the road underdog.

Maximize your odds and take AUBURN (+140) in what should be a thriller.

Against the spread

We’re not wholly convinced LSU can pull away given what we’ve seen from Auburn this year. With such a small spread, it’s better to PASS here and get a better payout on the money line.

Stream college football games on ESPN+ by signing up here.

Over/Under

It’s a slight lean on the OVER 55.5 (-110) given Johnson’s development as a passer along with the potential loss of Stingley to open up the passing game for Auburn.

Georgia State at Auburn odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Georgia State at Auburn odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Georgia State Panthers (1-2) and Auburn Tigers (2-1) meet Saturday at Jordan-Hare Stadium in Auburn, Ala. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Georgia State at Auburn odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

The Panthers were able to ease by Charlotte last weekend by a 20-9 count, winning and covering for the first time in three tries. It was also the first Under result after allowing 51.0 PPG in the first two games.

The Tigers, No. 23 in the AFCA Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports, had their way with Akron and FCS Alabama State in the first two games, rolling up 61.0 PPG. However, the Tigers were humbled a bit at Penn State Saturday falling 28-20.

Georgia State at Auburn odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Auburn 48, Georgia State 17

Money line

Auburn (-3000) is going to push past Georgia State (+1100) before getting knee-deep in the SEC schedule. While this game should be one-sided, there is no sense risking 30 times your potential return. There is just no value here.

AVOID.

Against the spread

AUBURN -26.5 (-117) is the play in this one as the Tigers get a final tune-up before things get much more difficult in conference play.

I still don’t trust QB Bo Nix to roll up big numbers, especially against top-notch teams. However, in this glorified scrimmage against a middle-tier Sun Belt squad, he should show out, and RB Tank Bigsby will roll up huge offensive numbers.

Stream college football games on ESPN+ by signing up here.

Over/Under

OVER 57.5 (-108) is the play here as the Auburn offense can be trusted against non-Power 5 teams. They made it look easy in routs of Akron and Alabama State. Georgia State allowed 43 points to Army in the opener and 59 points to North Carolina Sept. 11. Expect the Tigers to add to GSU’s defensive woes.

Auburn at Penn State odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Auburn at Penn State odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Auburn Tigers (2-0) and Penn State Nittany Lions (2-0) meet Saturday at Beaver Stadium in State College, Penn. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Auburn vs. Penn State odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

The Tigers, No. 20 in the AFCA Coaches Poll, powered by USA TODAY Sports, have been on fire offensively, although they haven’t exactly been tested by the best.

Auburn rolled Akron 60-10 in its home opener, covering a 37-point number. Last week, they spanked FCS Alabama State 62-0, covering a 49.5-point spread. The Over has cashed in each game.

The Nittany Lions, No. 12 in the poll, opened the season on the road with a 16-10 upset of Wisconsin while picking up a 44-13 win over Ball State last week to cover a 23-point number. They’re 2-0 ATS, while hitting the Under in each outing.

Auburn at Penn State odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Auburn 30, Penn State 27

Money line

AUBURN (+160) hits the road for the first time, and they are rolling along on offense. This will easily be its biggest test of the season after a couple of layups at home. However, this offense has a ton of confidence, and if anybody is going to solve the Penn State (-200) offense, it’s Auburn.

Against the spread

AUBURN +4.5 (-115) is worth a play with the points if you don’t quite trust them to go to Happy Valley to pull off the outright win.

The Tigers have registered 575.5 total yards per game in the first two games against Akron and Alabama State, including 340.0 rushing yards per contest. While that’s all well and good, they won’t be able to thrash this Penn State defense.

Penn State -4.5 (-105) has allowed just 327.0 total yards per game and 121.5 rushing yards per outing. You can expect the Auburn offense to be not quite as powerful, but you can also expect the Penn State defense to not be as suffocating.

Stream college football games on ESPN+ by signing up here.

Over/Under

OVER 52.5 (-112) is the play here as Auburn’s offense has been playing well and rolling up huge numbers. They’ll take a step back, as Penn State has a solid defense, and this is the first road test for the Tigers.

These teams have the skill position players to push for a total in the high 50’s to near 60.

The Alabama State Hornets (1-0) and Auburn Tigers (1-0) meet Saturday at Jordan-Hare Stadium in Auburn, Ala. Kickoff is scheduled for noon ET. Below, we look at the Alabama State at Auburn odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

The Hornets scratched out a 14-13 overtime win last Saturday over Miles College, a Division II institution. They now jump up and play a Power 5 team.

The Tigers pounded Akron by a 60-10 count last weekend; QB Bo Nix tossed 3 touchdowns and RB Tank Bigsby ran for two others. Auburn rolled up 613 total yards to just 188 for the Zips.

Alabama State at Auburn odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Auburn 62, Alabama State 3

Money line

There was no money line at the time of publishing but it wouldn’t be worth pursuing anyway.

Against the spread

AUBURN -48.5 (-120) is a rather hefty amount of points to lay – that’s nearly seven touchdowns. However, the Tigers won by 50 last week, while Alabama State eked out a 1-point win in overtime over a Division II school.

Auburn should be able to cover before they call off the dogs in the second half. The concern here is that the game gets so out of hand in the first half that the teams agree to 10-minute quarters for the second half.

Stream college football games on ESPN+ by signing up here.

Over/Under

OVER 59.5 (-112) is the lean here, and Auburn has the potential to take care of it all on its own. The Tigers dropped a 60-burger in the laps of the Zips last week, and they’re an FBS team. Look for Auburn to run, run and run some more in this one, with several long scoring plays in the first half especially.

Akron at Auburn odds, expert picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Akron at Auburn odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Akron Zips and Auburn Tigers meet Saturday in their season opener at Jordan-Hare Stadium in Auburn, Ala. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET and the game can be viewed on ESPN+. Below, we look at the Akron at Auburn odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

The Zips won just one of their six games inside the MAC last season, so facing an SEC team on the road certainly isn’t optimal. Akron makes its first foray into SEC country since a 28-3 loss to South Carolina in 2018.

Auburn turns to head coach Bryan Harsin to lead the way. Perhaps he can unlock the potential of QB Bo Nix. We might also see LSU transfer QB T.J. Finley getting a chance to run the show. The fact the Tigers lost their top three wideouts from 2020 certainly doesn’t help, so expect Auburn to lean on RB Tank Bigsby early on.

The Tigers spanked the Zips 42-0 in the only previous meeting between these schools in 1988.

Akron at Auburn odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Auburn 45, Akron 6

Money line

There is no way to justify risking $100 for every 10 cents won, so AVOID playing Auburn (-100000), and look to the spread instead.

Against the spread

AUBURN -37.5 (-115) is a bit on the risky side, mostly because of its struggling offense. The Tigers need to be better in 2021, and hopefully Harsin can bring the magic he had working with quarterbacks at Boise State.

The Auburn defense held the opposition to just 24.7 points per game last season, and the Zips will have a difficult time trying to solve that unit.

Over/Under

UNDER 55.5 (-108) is the play, mostly because of Akron’s struggles on offense, and Auburn’s sturdy defense. Those are the two biggest reasons not to roll the dice and go Over.

Plus, we really need to see a big improvement from the Auburn pass game before counting on the Tigers to start ticking off Over results.

Week 1 first look: Akron Zips at Auburn Tigers odds and lines, Auburn huge favorite in opener

Previewing the college football Week 1 matchup between the Akron Zips and Auburn Tigers, with odds, trends and head-to-head records.

The Akron Zips and Auburn Tigers open their 2021 regular season Saturday at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Akron vs. Auburn odds and lines; check back for our college football picks and predictions.

The Zips fumbled their way to a 1-5 record last season with the lone victory being a 31-3 rout of Bowling Green. In fact, that is Akron’s only win in the previous 23 regular-season games.

The Tigers came up short against Northwestern in the Citrus Bowl 35-19. Auburn lost three of its final four games last season, and five games overall. This will be Auburn’s first game against a MAC team since a 55-16 win over Kent State Sept. 14, 2019.

Tennessee at Auburn: Three things to know

  1. The Volunteers dropped out of the Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll after suffering a shaky 70-55 loss to Kentucky last Saturday. Tennessee rebounded with a midweek win at Vanderbilt, but the Vols have been an inconsistent on-again-off-again proposition since starting the season 10-1.
  2. The Tigers have had a rough February. AU is 1-6 over its last seven games. The Tigers have been outshot, 47% to 41%, over that stretch and have committed 15.6 turnovers per game. Auburn heads into Saturday’s game having lost three in a row on its home floor.
  3. AU has a possible injury absence to overcome. Freshman G Sharife Cooper missed the Tigers’ Tuesday game against Florida — a 74-57 loss — and is listed as doubtful (ankle) for Saturday. Cooper scored 26 points in his last game (Feb. 20 at LSU) and is Auburn’s leading scorer this winter. The Powder Springs, Ga., native is averaging 20.2 points and 8.1 assists per game.

Against the spread (ATS)

The Volunteers are 0-4 ATS in their last four games following a straight-up win. In this series, the Underdog is 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings. The Vols figure to be able to leverage turnovers into a two-possession lead in this one. The Cooper injury for AU is significant, but the Tigers’ shooting numbers at home and their ability to get to the free-throw line give some credence to a fade-the-public angle.

TAKE THE TIGERS +7.5 (-110).

Over/Under (O/U)

The Under is: 3-1 in the Vols’ last four games …  5-0 in UT’s last five road games vs. a team with a winning home record … 6-1 in the Vols’ last seven road games overall.

And that’s the lean here: BACK THE UNDER 145.5 (-110).
