Atlanta Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff talks about newly signed former Georgia football running back Todd Gurley’s knee injuries.

Atlanta Falcons beat reporter Kelsey Conway recently spoke to the franchise’s general manager Thomas Dimitroff about newly signed running back Todd Gurley.

The former Georgia Bulldog recently signed a one-year contract worth $6m with the Falcons after being released earlier this year by the L.A. Rams.

Gurley was a two-time All-Pro in L.A. but after issues with arthritis in his previously injured left-knee, the team decided to move on from the 24-year old.

Unlike the Rams, the Falcons do not seem to be worried about Gurley’s injury history.

Dimitroff said:

He really takes care of his body well. We feel very comfortable with it. He’s a hard-charging runner and we’re counting on him being an excellent player for us.

Gurley being on just a one-year deal creates an easy out for Atlanta if he can’t meet expectations in 2020, but Falcons and UGA fans hope the Bulldog great can bounce back with a great season for Atlanta.

Georgia Bulldog legend Todd Gurley is returning to the Peach State. Gurley signed a one-year deal to join the Atlanta Falcons. With Gurley and a couple of other free agent additions the Falcons could become the first team in NFL history to start 11 first-round picks on offense.

It didn’t take Todd Gurley much time to pick a free agent destination following his surprise release from the Los Angeles Rams. Gurley knew he wanted to return to Georgia.

What an amazing video. It’s worth a couple of views. Todd Gurley was a joy to watch at the University of Georgia and has been outstanding in the NFL. Despite some injury concerns, Gurley still has a lot left in the tank.

Gurley will be fun to watch on the Atlanta Falcons, who are coming off a disappointing 7-9 season. The Falcons are in a stacked division with Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints and Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Atlanta is going to need an epic season from Gurley to make the expanded NFL Postseason.

Since a somewhat surprising release from the Los Angeles Rams, Todd Gurley has committed to a one-year deal with the Atlanta Falcons.

Following a move that delights a large number of local Dawgs and Dirty Birds, the Georgia Bulldog alumnus will wear red and black in Georgia for at least one more season.

Gurley took the news in stride on Thursday, playfully tweeting about having been fired on his day off. He agreed to terms with Atlanta the following morning.

Cameron DaSilva of Rams Wire first reported Gurley’s expert session in subtle pettiness.

Georgia faithful took to Twitter following his release with asserting that Gurley would be a great fit for the Falcons, who recently released tailback Devonta Freeman.

He’s signing a one-year $5 million deal (per Zach Klein). It will be a prove it season for Gurley, who will look to prove the Rams wrong and show the NFL he can still play at an elite level.

Gurley will do his best to replace running back Devonta Freeman in Atlanta. Running backs aren’t valued as much in today’s NFL. Teams are acknowledging their short shelf life now more than ever.
