Dabo Swinney and the Clemson coaching staff did a phenomenal job with their 2023 recruiting class and look to strike the same magic they did in 2023 with their 2024 class.

The 2024 class looks great on paper, and it looks like the class wrapped things up yesterday. The Tigers added two preferred walk-ons in wide receivers Parker Fulghum and Clark Sanderson, adding depth at wide receiver behind the two studs they have already in this class.

With these additions, we have a clean, full look at what Clemson’s 2024 recruiting class looks like as the program prepares for the 2024 season. Below is a look at each recruit in the Tigers’ 2024 class and where they are ranked in the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Dabo Swinney on Ashton Hampton: ‘He can do anything’

Dabo Swinney believes one of Clemson’s new cornerbacks can do anything.

Dabo Swinney and the Clemson coaching staff once again did an excellent job recruiting their 2024 class, with some new Tigers looking like the real deal.

One of those who looks legit, is cornerback Ashton Hampton. Swinney shared high praise for Hampton recently, explaining how the four-star cornerback can do it all on the field.

“Ashton, those of you who’ve seen him, he can do anything,” Swinney said. “I mean, this guy, he is long. I mean, like a giant, and can play corner. He can play nickel(back), he can play strong (safety), he can play free (safety). I mean, he’s a freaky type of athlete.”

Hampton was an elite cornerback in high school but was versatile beyond just defense. He dominated as a wide receiver and was a standout on the basketball court. With a father who is a coach, Hampton looks like the full package mentally and physically.

“Just really, really advanced from a football standpoint… He’s a great basketball player,” Swinney said. “There’s really nothing he can’t do. Very, very smart kid.”

“His dad is a college head coach. This is a kid that’s been around this his whole life. I mean, you can’t ever have a guy more prepared than Ashton Hampton.”

Hampton is a Tiger fans should look forward to seeing on the field.

Headlined by two five-star recruits in linebacker Sammy Brown and wide receiver Bryant Wesco, the Tigers have future stars ready to make an impact for the Tigers in this class. The most recent commitment in the class came from four-star cornerback Corian Gipson, who committed to the Tigers Saturday, choosing Clemson over top competitor Texas.

Gators in the hunt for this coveted defensive back out of Tallahassee

The rising high school senior is unsure what time he will announce his commitment Saturday but he plans on informing all the schools involved on Friday.

Florida football remains in the picture for three-star defensive back [autotag]Ashton Hampton[/autotag] out of Tallahassee (Florida) University School as the 2024 recruiting class winds down ahead of the fall schedule.

“Coach (Austin) Armstrong) hits me up pretty much every day and I talk to him,” Hampton old Gators Online. “And Billy Napier is a great coach. It’s a program on the rise. They should be winning here pretty soon.”

Along with the Gators, the Arkansas Razorbacks, Clemson Tigers, Louisville Cardinals and Florida State Seminoles are the finalists in the 6-foot-2-inch, 190-pound DB’s recruitment; he has officially visited all of these schools except for FSU already.

Hampton is ranked No. 687 overall and No. 72 at his position nationally according to the 247Sports composite while the On3 industry ranking has him at Nos. 710 and 31, respectively.

Clemson currently holds two crystal ball predictions from 247Sports while also in the lead according to On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine with a 49.4% chance of landing him. Florida is next up at 19.5% followed by Arkansas at 16.3%.

The rising high school senior is unsure what time he will announce his commitment Saturday, but he plans on informing all the schools involved in his decision Friday.

Two Florida targets set July 15 commitment date

Florida has been working on a pair of in-state targets from the class of 2024, but time is running thin for the Gators with a mid-July commitment date now in place.

Two Florida recruiting targets from the Florida State University School are planning on announcing their commitment decisions on July 15, according to a pair of social media posts shared below.

Micahi Danzy and Ashton Hampton are both athletes at the lab school, but the former is more likely to end up at running back and the latter is a talented defensive back. Florida has a higher chance of landing Hampton after hosting him over the summer for an official visit. Danzy’s last trip to the Swamp came in late March.

The On3 recruiting prediction machine gives the Florida State Seminoles a 99% chance of landing Danzy, with Florida apparently holding the bulk of the percentage point left to fight over. Hampton is actually projected to end up at Clemson (49.4%), but Florida (19.5%) and Arkansas (16.3%) are putting up a decent battle.

Danzy is a four-star recruit everywhere except Rivals.com, which is interestingly the only service that believes Hampton is a four-star instead of a three-star talent as well.

Regardless, the On3 industry ranking, which uses a weighted average of all four major services, has Danzy higher at No. 176 nationally and No. 6 among athletes in the class of 2024. Hampton is No. 721 and No. 34 among athletes, respectively.

LSU offers three-star safety from Tallahassee, Florida

LSU’s recruiting staff offered a 2024 safety in Florida State’s backyard.

LSU’s recruiting staff ventured deep into enemy territory as they offered a 2024 safety in Florida State’s backyard.

[autotag]Ashton Hampton[/autotag] is a 6-foot-2, 175-pound, three-star safety from Tallahassee, Florida, where he plays for Florida State University High School. Yes, that is actually the name of the school. The FSU High School Seminoles finished the 2022 season 14-1 with a loss to Cocoa in the 2S state championship game.

There are currently no Crystal Ball projections for Hampton at this time but the Florida Gators are a 31% favorite to land him per On3.

Film Analysis: Hampton’s first clip sets the tone for the kind of player he is. He’s a physical guy that loves to make big hits.

Gators make top 6 for in-state defensive back

Florida made the most recent cut for 2024 defensive back Ashton Hampton, who narrowed things down to a top six on Monday.

Florida State University School (Tallahassee, Florida) athlete Ashton Hampton narrowed his options down to six college programs on Memorial Day and the Florida Gators made the cut along with Arkansas, Clemson, FSU, LSU and Miami.

Zach Blostein of 247Sports caught up with Hampton to talk about each of his six finalists. For Florida, it’s the constant communication from defensive coordinator Austin Armstrong and the reputation of defensive backs coach Corey Raymond that are paying off the most.

“Coach Armstrong texts me every day checking in with me and makes sure everything is going good,” said Hampton, “and coach Raymond has a history with a lot of great DBs.”

Florida State currently leads the On3 recruiting prediction machine for Hampton with 44.7% odds to land him. Florida is slowly closing the gap but is still a distant second in this recruiting race (20.5%). Getting the Tallahassee-based defender on campus again might be the only way for UF to make a significant at this point, though.

Hampton plans to take four of five official visits in June, but he’s saving the FSU visit until December. LSU is the only program in his top six that doesn’t have an official visit scheduled. Florida is set to host him on June 9-11.

A consensus three-star recruit, Hampton is ranked No. 822 overall on the 247Sports composite. He’s also ranked No. 79 among safeties in the class of 2024 and No. 113 in the state of Florida.

Florida hosting this in-state DB on June official visit

The list of June visitors continues to grow for Florida, and Tallahassee safety Ashton Hampton us the latest to lock in his official visit.

The Florida Gators are getting one of Tallahassee’s best on campus for an official visit over the weekend of June 9, according to 247Sports.

No, not the Florida State Seminoles… Florida State University School safety Ashton Hampton is one of many defensive backs still on Florida’s recruiting board. Hampton picked up an offer last time he was in town (March) and has now added the Gators to his bust June schedule.

He’ll stop by Clemson, Florida, Miami and Arkansas over the month, in that order. His last official visit is, of course, to Florida State and is scheduled for December 8-10. The early signing period begins just 10 days later.

The Seminoles lead the On3 recruiting prediction machine with 45.3 percent of the prediction, but Florida is creeping up on its in-state rival in second place with 20.8 percent.

Hampton is a consensus three-star recruit, ranked as high as No. 46 among safeties in the class of 2024 by ESPN. On3 lists him as an athlete, so he could end up playing a different defensive position or on offense at some point.

The On3 industry ranking, which uses a weighted average from all four major recruiting services, has Hampton at No. 1,121 nationally and No. 68 among athletes in the class of 2024. The 247Sports composite is a bit more bullish on him at No. 815 overall.

Coveted in-state safety gets Florida offer after recent visit

The Gators extended an offer to this Tallahassee defensive back standout.

Florida football recently got a close look at three-star safety [autotag]Ashton Hampton[/autotag] out of Tallahassee (Florida) Florida State University School during a visit to Gainesville last Saturday and came away impressed — impressed enough to offer the in-state recruit from enemy territory a scholarship.

It was the first visit the 6-foot-2-inch, 175-pound defensive back has made to the University of Florida which was a successful one, in his own words.

“It was a nice campus, they have nice facilities, and I got to take some pictures,” he told Swamp247. “I got to see their entire campus actually. I liked seeing their practice because it let me see how the coaches coach. It was really nice actually. I liked their new locker room, their new building they have for the team is really nice.”

Not only did the high school junior get a glimpse of the sights and sounds from around the storied campus but he also had a chance to get some significant face time with members of the football program’s staff. Hampton came into the weekend with an established relationship with new defensive coordinator Austin Armstrong — who spent time recruiting him while with the Alabama Crimson Tide — and came away with a much broader appreciation for Florida’s coaches.

“I was around Coach [CJ] Wilcox, Coach [Corey] Raymond, Coach [Billy] Napier, and Coach [Austin] Armstrong. With Coach Raymond, he was a great guy that has coached a lot of great DBs over the years from his time at LSU. Knowing that gives me a good idea of how he is as a man and a person. Catch Raymond said he really liked my length and he thought I was a smart DB.”

He also got a chance to spend some time with the head boss as well.

“I got to talk to him in his office before the visit finished up. He’s a really interesting person. He said he was going to offer me too. He said he wanted to reassure me that I have an offer from him too. He said he likes how I play both sides of the ball in high school, and he said he can tell I am a really smart player. He said I have a good family.”

Hampton is ranked No. 832 overall and No. 69 at safety nationally according to the 247Sports composite while the On3 industry ranking has listed as an athlete and ranks him at Nos. 1,045 and 100, respectively. On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine currently has Florida State in the lead for his services with a 45.9% chance of landing him while Florida, Clemson and Alabama trail behind at 21.0%, 18.0% and 1.4%, respectively.
