This video further proves Bruce Arians is the right coach for the Bucs

Take a look back at this video of Bruce Arians addressing the Arizona Cardinals following their loss in the 2015 NFC Championship.

Many people are eager to see whether Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady will be able to find success away from the New England Patriots and head coach Bill Belichick.

For better or worse, Brady and Belichick will be tied at the hip from now until the end of time after winning six Super Bowls together and turning the Patriots into one of the premier franchises in all of sports.

Brady will now be playing for two-time NFL Coach of the Year Bruce Arians, whose personality seems to be in stark contrast to that of the reserved Belichick. Arians will have one of the league’s most talented rosters this year, and will have to manage expectations for a franchise with championship dream.

Former Arians players, including Ben Roethlisberger of the Pittsburgh Steelers, believe Brady will love playing for the man in the Kangol hat. And, watching the below video again from Amazon’s All or Nothing series that followed the Arizona Cardinals’ 2015 season, it’s clear that Arians is the right guy for this Bucs team.

Take a look at the coach’s emotional locker room speech following the Cardinals’ 49-15 blowout loss to the Carolina Panthers in the 2015 NFC Championship Game. It’s clear how much the players respect his voice.

Bruce Arians is considering keeping a QB away from the facility as a precaution

Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians spoke to Chris Long on the “Green Light” podcast about possibly keeping a QB away from the team facility.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, like many NFL teams, may finally get to return to their facility soon after the coronavirus pandemic put buildings on lockdown over the past few months.

The NFL has implemented strict guidelines for teams to follow once training camp begins, including a mandate that there be no off-site training or joint practices. The league is taking the necessary precautions to ensure that players and coaching staffs stay healthy in this uncertain time.

But Bucs head coach Bruce Arians may be taking the precaution game to another level. Speaking on the Green Light podcast with former NFL defensive end Chris Long, Arians said the team is considering keeping a third-string quarterback away from the facility in case either Tom Brady or his backup, Blaine Gabbert, need to be quarantined at any point.

Per Arians:

“Yeah, that’s one of the things I’ve been pondering the last two or three weeks, as we set the protocols. From what I’m understanding is if you test positive, you get quarantined for two weeks. Now, if you have no symptoms, I don’t know what that means — is it a false (positive)? Is it… There is so much to learn and still explore with this thing. But I’ve thought about keeping the third quarterback on the roster out of the room.”

You can listen to the clip of Arians below.

The coronavirus has made this an offseason unlike any other, and coaching staffs are going to have to adjust accordingly and have contingency plans in place should the virus rear its ugly head at any point between now and the start of the season.

Hopefully, relying on a third-string quarterback won’t be necessary, but it’s better to be safe than sorry.

Bruce Arians talks training camp and protests on Zoom call

Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians spoke on a Zoom call about training camp, his team, and the protests around the country.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians joined his players on social media this week for #BlackoutTuesday to bring attention to social injustice in our country, which was brought to light once again following the death of George Floyd at the hands of a white Minneapolis police officer.

Arians spoke with reporters today on a Zoom call about the protests and what is going on in our country at the moment. While the coach did speak, too, about training camp and what we can expect from his team, he offered some great insight into what’s happening in our society.

Take a look at the below at some tweets from The Athletic‘s Greg Auman.

Throwback Thursday: A young Bruce Arians is a sight to behold

Take a look back at Bucs head coach Bruce Arians during his playing and coaching days at Virginia Tech.

Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians roams the sideline looking like a cool jazz musician more than an NFL head coach with the Kangol hat, hipster glasses and clean beard.

But that distinct Arians look is a far cry from what he used to look like back in the day. Way back in the day. In honor of Throwback Thursday, here are a few pictures courtesy of Virginia Tech showing us a young Bruce Arians during his playing days and early coaching days back in the 70s.

Bruce Arians pays respect to Don Shula on Twitter

Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians took to Twitter today to pay respect to former Dolphins coach Don Shula after the HOF coach’s passing.

The NFL world lost legendary coach Don Shula, who passed away on Monday at the age of 90.

Shula won an NFL-record 347 games, including including playoff games, and coached the Baltimore Colts (7 years) and Miami Dolphins (26 years). Shula is one of only three coaches in NFL history to win more than 300 games, with George Halas and Bill Belichick being the others.

Bucs head coach Bruce Arians tweeted out the below message today after news of Shula’s passing broke.

The Buccaneers and Glazer family also released a statement.

Don’t expect an announcement on Jameis Winston’s future anytime soon

Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians said we shouldn’t expect to hear news about Jameis Winston’s future for a while.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers may have ended their season last Sunday with their Week 17 loss to the Atlanta Falcons, but the work is just beginning for this team as they head into the offseason.

The biggest question that needs answering is what to do with quarterback Jameis Winston, who had a year for the ages in 2019 (both good and bad). Winston threw for over 5,000 yards, becoming just the eighth quarterback ever to reach that mark and the first in franchise history. But, he also became the first player ever to throw for 30 touchdowns and 30 interceptions in a season.

The Bucs were hoping that at this point they’d have some clarity on what to do with the former No. 1 overall pick, who was playing on the final year of his rookie contract. But, after such an up-and-down 2019 campaign, the team still seems uncertain about what to do, despite reports that Winston is slated to return.

And, according to head coach Bruce Arians, it doesn’t seem like we’ll get an answer about Winston’s future anytime soon.

It’s very telling that Arians keeps sidestepping questions about Winston, given that he’s spoken about other players and their futures without hesitation.

It’ll be interesting to see what the future holds for the Bucs and their franchise quarterback. One thing is for sure, though — if Winston returns in 2020, he won’t be given as much leeway as he was this year.

A friendly reminder that Bruce Arians came out of retirement to work with Jameis Winston

A reminder that Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach cited working with Jameis Winston as one of the reasons he came out of retirement.

Tomorrow marks the end of the 2019 regular season for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and it’s been a roller coaster ride to say the least.

The team started off 3-7, including a 1-4 record on their brutal five-game stretch away from Raymond James Stadium, which saw them travel to Los Angeles, New Orleans, London, Tennessee and Seattle.

But, over the past month, Tampa Bay has looked more and more like the team we expected to see under first-year coach Bruce Arians. The young defense, which was atrocious at times in the beginning of the year, is finally starting to come together, while the offense ranks third in the league in scoring.

At 7-8, the Bucs have a chance to finish at .500 with a win tomorrow at home over the Atlanta Falcons. That’s a far cry from the 5-11 record the Bucs have finished with the last two seasons. While the team may not be going to the playoffs this year, there’s a lot to look forward to.

And, while some will argue that the Bucs should try and find another option at quarterback due to Jameis Winston’s 28 interceptions (most in the league), he’s shown enough progress this year that the Bucs are likely bringing him back for one more go.

Plus, Winston was one of the big reasons Arians came out of retirement in the first place, as Sports Illustrated pointed out today.

“When Arians came out of retirement to take the Bucs job, he made it clear that working with Winston was a big part of that decision. At this point in his career, it would be understandable if Arians didn’t want to start over with a new quarterback after just one season with Winston.”

Winston needs just 92 more passing yards to reach 5,000 on the season. He’ll be without his top two receivers, but that shouldn’t be a problem for the pass-happy Bucs QB.
