There are a few things Alabama must be prepared for before taking on Michigan in the College Football Playoff Rose Bowl semifinal.

The Crimson Tide arrived in Pasadena, California on Tuesday evening. Alabama began its preparation for the College Football Playoff semifinal matchup against Michigan shortly after.

The Wolverines come in with an unblemished record at 13-0. The Crimson Tide roll in with a 12-1 record. Both teams deserve to be in the position that they are currently in, though many in Tallahassee may not agree

Michigan ran the table and made things look easy more times than not. Alabama had its share of struggles early on in the season but found its footing toward the midway point of the season.

The Wolverines are clicking on all cylinders at the right time. This means Alabama will have to bring their A-game to defeat the Big Ten champions.

Alabama versus Georgia is one of the most anticipated matchups of the 2023 season. The Crimson Tide seemed to have peaked at the right time and have an opportunity to boost its resume against a very good Georgia team on Saturday evening.

The Tide had some issues against Auburn last week, as the team struggled against the run and had some difficulties late in the game on offense. For the most part, Alabama has made things look relatively easy in the past few weeks.

That could change against an experienced, talented squad like Georgia. It will not be as easy to get by with bone-headed mistakes or costly penalties.

Regardless of the record of either tea, the Iron Bowl is always an interesting game as the strong teams can struggle and the weak teams exceed expectations. This year seems to be an outlier on paper. The Crimson Tide come into the game with an 11-1 record while the Tigers come in with a 6-5 record.

With the game being played at Auburn, there is always some level of concern from Alabama fans. It just seems like Alabama always has a level of difficulty defeating Auburn on the road. A hostile environment to go along with a team that has nothing to lose sounds like familiar territory to Alabama.

Alabama arguably had its biggest win in Week 9 against LSU. The Crimson Tide will now have to make the trip to Lexington in Week 10 to take on Kentucky.

While the Wildcats have struggled in big games this season, this is a great opportunity for Mark Stoops’ program to pick up a statement win. If Alabama comes in on a high, the Wildcats could take advantage of that and make this a four-quarter game.

That is exactly what Alabama does not want this Saturday. The Crimson Tide will need to perform well in several aspects of the game to ensure they have the best odds to win against the Wildcats.

Alabama will look to avenge its loss to LSU from a season ago. The Crimson Tide fell in overtime by a final score of 32-31 to the Tigers. It was a gut-wrenching, playoff-ending loss for Nick Saban’s squad.

Alabama hopes that there will be a different outcome this season. Both programs come into this year’s game having losses. Much like last season. Alabama fell to Texas in Week 2 whereas LSU lost to Florida State and Ole Miss so far this season.

Needless to say, neither team will end the season with an unblemished record. Alabama will just have to find a way to win on Saturday night in Bryant-Denny Stadium.

In order for Alabama to be able to smoke cigars following this weekend’s game against Tennessee, the Crimson Tide will have to show improvements in several different areas.

Through the first seven games, Alabama has looked superb on defense for the most part, especially the past four weeks. As for the offense, there have been some adjustments to clean up the issues along the offensive line. However, it has not been enough to increase the confidence level that Alabama fans have about that particular position group.

The offense has been inconsistent at times this season and it has come back to bite the Crimson Tide. More specifically, the turnovers and penalties. That has to be cleaned up heading into a rivalry game against No. 17-ranked Tennesseee.

Alabama is coming off of a hard-fought Week 6 win against Texas A&M. The Crimson Tide performed less than stellar for the majority of the game, Alabama had several costly penalties and struggled in several different areas throughout the game.

Needless to say, there are a lot of things that the Crimson Tide can clean up as conference play continues. In Week 7, Alabama will welcome a struggling, Arkansas team that currently holds a 2-4 record. While the Razorbacks have lost four consecutive games, they still have enough talent to give Alabama some trouble.

Alabama will travel to College Station to take on Texas A&M in Week 6. In recent years, the two programs have had some tight games. In 2021, the Aggies pulled off an upset in the waning seconds of the game. In 2022, the Crimson Tide came away with a win after coming up with a pivotal stop in the final seconds of the game.

Needless to say, there are plenty of reasons to be optimistic for both fanbases heading into this weekend’s matchup.

Texas A&M and Alabama both suffered losses in Week 2 but have been impressive in recent weeks. This is a huge game for both programs as it will likely have implications for which program will represent the SEC West in the conference championship game.

Areas of concern ahead of Alabama’s Week 5 matchup against Mississippi State

Areas of concern for the Crimson Tide ahead of Alabama’s Week 5 matchup against Mississippi State.

Typically, Alabama and Mississippi State play one another in mid-November. In 2023, the two teams will square off in a Week 5 showdown in Starkville.

Alabama comes into the game with a 3-1 record while Mississippi State wears a 2-2 record. The Bulldogs are led by first-year head coach Zach Arnett. There has been a learning curve through the first four games of the season for the team in maroon and white.

However, the Bulldogs have found ways to be competitive for the most part. In the past, Mississippi State has given Alabama some trouble. The Bulldogs last beat the Crimson Tide in 2007, which was almost 16 years ago. Despite that tidbit of information, there is still room for concern for this weekend’s matchup.

Alabama has had its share of good and bad to begin the 2023 season. In Week 1, the Crimson Tide made light work of Middle Tennessee State. The offense was moving and the defense was able to generate enough stops to pull away in the second half.

In Weeks 2 and 3, the Crimson Tide struggled to create any sort of momentum on offense. With the instability at quarterback, it has caused the offensive attack to become more predictable.

Opposing defensive coordinators were able to apply pressure on Alabama’s offensive line and quarterback. As a result, things have looked less than stellar on that side of the ball.

Defensively, Alabama has performed relatively well. Outside of several big plays being given up in Week 2, the defense has held its own.
