CBS Sports pegs Anton Harrison as a first rounder in their latest 2023 NFL mock draft

CBS Sports’ Ryan Wilson mocks Sooners offensive tackle Anton Harrison to the L.A. Chargers in his most recent mock draft.

The mock drafts are coming fast and furiously. Although we still have months until the 2023 NFL draft takes place in April, Anton Harrison is consistently in the first or second round of each mock draft that drops.

CBS Sports’ Ryan Wilson dropped his recent mock draft. In it, Anton Harrison is headed to L.A. to help keep Chargers’ star Justin Herbert upright.

Ryan Wilson of CBS Sports had this to say about his selection.

There was some thought that Harrison might return to Oklahoma for an NIL deal that was too good to pass up but he’s instead opted for the NFL. He’s one of the top tackles in the class and now the question is whether he finds his way into Round 1 or goes early on Day 2. – Wilson, CBS Sports

The consensus around Harrison is that he’ll be off the board by Friday evening at the latest. If he ended up in LA, he’d link up with former Sooner Kenneth Murray, who plays linebacker for the Chargers. The fit wouldn’t be seamless for Anton in Los Angeles, as he’d likely have to move to right tackle. Rashawn Slater, the Chargers’ pick at No. 13 in the 2021 NFL Draft, patrols the left tackle spot for the Chargers. He was named Pro Bowl Starter and second-team All-Pro as a rookie.

Against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 3 of the 2022 season, Slater ruptured his biceps tendon, ending his season. He’s on track to be ready for the offseason program and will most certainly slide back to his spot. Thus deciding to draft Harrison would likely push him to play on the right side. There’s a lot more uncertainty on that side of the offensive line. Harrison hasn’t played right tackle much in college, but if he can handle the switch, he could see the field on day one.

NFL Mock Draft Roundup: Who are analysts pegging to Chargers?

Here’s who analysts see the Chargers taking at No. 21 in this year’s initial Mock Draft roundup.

With the offseason in full swing for the Chargers, it’s time to start thinking about the 2023 NFL Draft.

To help kickstart your draft crush research, we’ve compiled the latest mock drafts from around the internet to familiarize you with some potential Chargers.

Oklahoma’s Anton Harrison lands in the AFC North in latest 2023 NFL mock draft

Oklahoma left tackle Anton Harrison heads to Pittsburgh to don black and yellow in this latest mock draft from the Draft Wire.

As the football world prepares for the divisional round of the NFL Playoffs, it brings us one step closer to the 2023 NFL draft. There are Oklahoma Sooners on six of the eight remaining NFL teams.

Oklahoma will add to their list of Sooners turned pros in April, but where and when will they go? Luke Easterling of The Draft Wire has dropped another mock draft and has a familiar face for the Sooners going in the top 50.

Oklahoma’s highly regarded left tackle [autotag]Anton Harrison[/autotag] has been a staple in the first or second round since the summer. Barring an unforeseen medical issue or absurdly poor testing, Harrison is perfectly positioned to see himself drafted in the top 50 at worst.

In this particular mock draft, Harrison is the first pick in the second round at No. 32 by the Pittsburgh Steelers. They used the second-round pick they got in return from the Chicago Bears in exchange for former Notre Dame receiver Chase Claypool.

Harrison allowed one sack and eight hurries in 447 pass-blocking snaps this season. His athleticism affords him the ability to match a variety of pass rushers. His lone offseason with head strength and conditioning coach Jerry Schmidt helped him get stronger and become a better run blocker.

The Steelers recently retained their offensive coordinator Matt Canada. Canada looks to continue the development of Kenny Pickett. The Steelers selected him in the first round of the 2022 NFL draft.

Pickett showed promise this season. The next step is to support him with better talent. What better way to help him grow than by protecting his blind side with one of the best collegiate pass protectors in the draft?

Broncos select Oklahoma OT Anton Harrison in 2023 NFL mock draft

The Broncos could use a long-term right tackle to start across from Garett Bolles. Perhaps Anton Harrison could be the solution.

In a recent 2023 NFL mock draft for Draft Wire, Luke Easterling has the Denver Broncos selecting Oklahoma offensive tackle Anton Harrison with the 28th overall pick in the first round.

Denver has that first-round pick (from the San Francisco 49ers) after acquiring it through the Miami Dolphins in the Bradley Chubb trade. The exact placement of the pick will be known once San Francisco’s season has ended.

Here is Easterling’s commentary for the Harrison selection:

Helping Russell Wilson fix the offense has to be Denver’s top priority this offseason, and upgrading the offensive line is a must. Harrison is a tough, physical blocker who would immediately slot into the starting lineup and help make life easier for Wilson and company.

After years of short-term veteran solutions filling in at right tackle, the Broncos would be wise to invest a first-round pick on a long-term candidate to start across from Garett Bolles.

Anton Harrison heads to Cincinnati in latest PFF 2023 NFL mock draft

Oklahoma Sooners offensive tackle Anton Harrison was taken in the first round in Pro Football Focus’ latest 2023 NFL mock draft.

With the national title game out of the way, comes the college football offseason, and several Sooners are heading to the NFL draft.

One of the Sooners’ most notable personnel losses is starting left tackle [autotag]Anton Harrison[/autotag]. Harrison put it all together in 2022 and earned All-Big 12 honors. After declaring for the NFL draft, he’ll spend the next few months meeting with teams and preparing for the NFL draft combine.

His floor seems to be the end of the second round. He plays one of the premium positions in the entire sport, so he should find himself getting drafted in the first 50 picks.

In Pro Football Focus’ latest 2023 NFL mock draft, Harrison went No. 27 overall to the Cincinnati Bengals to keep Pro Bowl QB Joe Burrow upright.

Here’s what Pro Football Focus’ Michel Renner said about the pick.

The Bengals have not been shy about drafting first-rounders who may not be starters out of the gate. Harrison could allow the Bengals to kick Jonah Williams inside in time. He allowed all of nine pressures on 447 pass-blocking snaps this past season at Oklahoma. – Renner, PFF

The talented offensive lineman’s pass-blocking ability makes him a fascinating prospect and why he is garnering first-round love. A plug-and-play left tackle that can keep its most valuable player upright is an easy investment for an NFL front office. Harrison can improve his stock with a great showing at the combine, Oklahoma’s pro day, private workouts, and interviews.

He also would get the opportunity to block for [autotag]Joe Mixon[/autotag] and [autotag]Samaje Perine[/autotag], former Sooners who hold down the backfield for the Bengals.

SKOL Search: Vikings’ Mock Draft Roundup 1.0

Our first mock draft roundup of the season has the Vikings selecting 12 different players

Mock draft season is upon us and that means our mock draft roundup is back!

What we do every week is track the mainstream outlets mock drafts and aggregate how many times a player gets selected. Last season, we tallied up 173 mock drafts and only 10 of them were on offense. This season could end up being much of the same.

We will track them and try to determine trends and patterns, along with giving my own analysis on how they could fit with the Minnesota Vikings

Oklahoma Sooners land transfer offensive linemen Caleb Shaffer

Oklahoma continues its portal shopping spree by adding grad transfer offensive lineman Caleb Shaffer from Miami of Ohio.

[autotag]Bill Bedenbaugh[/autotag] is not satisfied with his offensive line room as the Sooners prepare for the 2023 season. It’s hard to blame him as the Oklahoma Sooners lost two starters, [autotag]Anton Harrison[/autotag] and [autotag]Wanya Morris[/autotag], to the NFL Draft process and Chris Murray to graduation.

Instead of waiting idly, Bedenbaugh went portal shopping and helped land interior offensive linemen Caleb Shaffer out of Miami-Ohio. Shaffer announced his commitment to Oklahoma on Thursday evening.

Shaffer projects best as a guard and marks the third time in the last four years that Oklahoma’s offensive line coach has landed a transfer guard in the offseason. Previous guards [autotag]Chris Murray[/autotag] and [autotag]McKade Mettauer[/autotag] ended up becoming starters for Bedenbaugh, and it’s quite possible that Shaffer could become the next starter for the Sooners at guard.

He has a wealth of experience, with 35 starts and over 2,200 snaps to his collegiate resume. Shaffer was an Academic All-MAC player as well. Since he is a grad transfer, he will have one year of eligibility.

Shaffer’s commitment gives Oklahoma a wealth of options if senior [autotag]Chris Murray[/autotag] is not granted another year. It also allows younger interior linemen like [autotag]Savion Byrd[/autotag], [autotag]Jake Taylor[/autotag], and others to continue developing at a steady pace.

Shaffer won’t be given a starting job, but he’ll undoubtedly be in the mix for one all offseason. Shaffer also marks just the second offensive transfer portal addition, along with the return of tight end Austin Stogner.

Stanford transfer offensive tackle Walter Rouse to visit with Oklahoma

Looking to add another Pac-12 offensive lineman, the Sooners are expected to host Stanford transfer offensive tackle Walter Rouse.

The Oklahoma Sooners have struck gold going out west in the offensive line transfer portal in recent years. Offensive line coach [autotag]Bill Bedenbaugh[/autotag] helped bring [autotag]Chris Murray[/autotag] from UCLA and[autotag] McKade Mettauer[/autotag] from Cal. In the 2022-2023 transfer portal, it appears that Bedenbaugh has his sights set on another Pac-12 offensive lineman, Stanford offensive tackle [autotag]Walter Rouse[/autotag].

According to Josh Edwards of CBS Sports and 247Sports, Rouse intends to visit with the Sooners, the Iowa Hawkeyes, and the Nebraska Cornhuskers. A former three-star offensive tackle in the 2019 class, Rouse was considered a top 500 player in the country and the No. 5 player in Washington D.C.

Rouse was Stanford’s sixth-highest-graded player on offense in 2022 and has played more than 2,500 snaps in his four-year collegiate career. Per Edwards’ report on Twitter, Rouse has started 39 games at left tackle.

The Oklahoma Sooners are losing starting offensive tackles [autotag]Anton Harrison[/autotag] and [autotag]Wanya Morris[/autotag] to the NFL draft. [autotag]Tyler Guyton[/autotag], who started when Morris was out due to injury, looks to be in line for one of the tackle spots in 2023. Left tackle, however, is up for grabs.

[autotag]Jacob Sexton[/autotag] had the first shot at it, but an injury suffered early in the Cheez-It Bowl loss forced him to miss most of the game. [autotag]Aaryn Parks[/autotag] entered in relief and helped the Sooners have a nice day running the ball.

With the Sooners needing to replace three starters on the offensive line, finding someone with the experience of Walter Rouse could prove invaluable. Rouse’s four years of experience would aid an offensive line that will be young at right guard and one or both of the tackle spots.

Report Card: Young linemen, running backs stood out for the Sooners

With the final report card of the year, the Sooners’ young offensive linemen and running backs offer hope for the future.

Just like that, season 128 of Oklahoma football is done. By record, they were the worst Oklahoma team since 1998, finishing under .500 (6-7) on the season. However, after the Sooners’ performance against the No. 13 Seminoles, it’s hard to suggest they were as bad as that 1998 team.

Their performance against a good Florida State team offered hope. It provided encouraging signs as we head into the offseason.

Before doing so, we take a look at each position group and grade Oklahoma’s performance from the 35-32 loss to the Seminoles in the Cheez-It Bowl.

Anton Harrison, Marvin Mims top 60 selections in The Draft Network’s latest 2023 mock draft

Anton Harrison and Marvin Mims both come off the board in the top 60 in The Draft Network’s two-round mock draft.

As the college football season winds down, the influx of mock drafts is about to increase exponentially. The Oklahoma Sooners have several players that should hear their names called in the 2023 NFL draft. A couple of them could go in the top 60.

Two of the Sooners’ more high-profile draft prospects, [autotag]Marvin Mims[/autotag] and [autotag]Anton Harrison[/autotag], continue to receive buzz after a summer that saw them projected as top 100 picks in mock drafts. It should come as no surprise that in the latest mock by The Draft Network, each player is taken in the top 60.

Harrison lands with the Kansas City Chiefs in this particular scenario. This is not the first time a mock draft has him joining the Chiefs.

Two former Sooners occupy spots on the offensive line in Kansas City. [autotag]Creed Humphrey[/autotag] and [autotag]Orlando Brown Jr.[/autotag] have done excellent jobs keeping Patrick Mahomes upright this year.

They earned Pro Bowl nods for their efforts this season. Brown is in the last year of his contract. While he has done well, the Chiefs could opt to let him walk in free agency, draft an offensive tackle and allocate those financial resources elsewhere. The Draft Network staff had this to say about their selection:

Whether the Chiefs decide to franchise-tag Orlando Brown Jr. or not, they must figure out their long-term plan at LT. Anton Harrison will not be a perfect prospect on day one, but his mix of length, movement skills, and balance are the foundation for a player who could be developed into a mainstay on the left side of Kansas City’s offensive line. – Jamie Eisner, The Draft Network

A round later, Marvin Mims comes off the board and gets to play for his hometown team, the Dallas Cowboys.

Mims hails from Frisco, Texas, where the Cowboys’ indoor practice facility is located. Landing with the Cowboys at pick No. 58 fills a need for Dallas. It has received inconsistent production from wideouts not named [autotag]CeeDee Lamb[/autotag]. While Lamb is having a career year, he’s doing it without much help on the other side of the field, and the Cowboys lack a speed element to their passing game. Lamb’s job would be even easier with a vertical threat that teams have to respect.

The Cowboys are currently panicking at the receiver position by adding T.Y. Hilton and continuing to flirt with Odell Beckham Jr. Drafting Marvin Mims in the second round of this NFL mock draft would address that need. – Justin Melo, The Draft Network

Mims has some juice and has shown proficiency over his three years at Oklahoma to take the tops off collegiate defenses. He’s led the Sooners in receiving each of the last three seasons and had his first 1,000-yard season in 2022.

If Mims declares for the draft, he’ll undoubtedly hear from the Cowboys front office, who hasn’t been shy about scouting Oklahoma players. Being from the Dallas area and playing high school games at The Star in Frisco, the Cowboys brass is no doubt familiar with the Sooners’ star wide receiver.
