A look back at Ravens 2023 NFL free agent class

With 2024 NFL free agency set to begin in less than two weeks, we’re looking back at the Baltimore Ravens 2023 free agent class

General manager Eric DeCosta, Ozzie Newsome’s successor, has grown increasingly aggressive in handing out contracts, and he’s now built a Super Bowl hopeful for 2023 and beyond.

The Ravens are 20th in the NFL in cap space, with $11.9 million available, and there will be critical decisions regarding several vital contributors and two All-Pros. And they’re spending about $120+ million plus on the offensive side of the football.

With the NFL combine ongoing and free agency just ten days away, we’re looking at Baltimore’s strong 2023 class.

Ravens sign veteran safety Andrew Adams to the practice squad

Baltimore #Ravens sign veteran safety Andrew Adams to the practice squad

The Ravens are adding a veteran defender to the roster, agreeing to a deal with Andrew Adams to join the practice squad.

Adams, who played 13 games and made 11 starts with Tennessee last season, is reportedly signing with Baltimore’s practice squad and could soon be elevated to game action, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Marcus Williams suffered a hamstring injury and is questionable for Sunday’s matchup against the Detroit Lions.

Adams has played in 100 games during his seven-year NFL career and has been a starter with the Giants, Buccaneers, and Titans.

He had 62 tackles, three passes defended, and an interception with Tennessee last season before being placed on injured reserve after suffering a torn patellar tendon in Week 17.

Ravens signing ex-Titans DB Andrew Adams to practice squad

The Ravens are reportedly signing former Titans DB Andrew Adams to the practice squad.

Former Tennessee Titans defensive back Andrew Adams has found a new home with the Baltimore Ravens.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Adams is signing to the Ravens’ practice squad. Rapoport also notes that it may not be long before Adams is promoted to the active roster thanks to Baltimore’s injuries on defense.

Adams spent the 2022 campaign with the Titans, playing in 11 games (one start) and seeing significant snaps on defense with the team dealing with several injuries.

His most memorable moment came in Week 7 against the Indianapolis Colts when he returned an interception for a touchdown.

Adams was placed on injured reserve after reportedly suffering a torn patellar tendon injury in Week 17 versus the Dallas Cowboys, which is why he didn’t sign with a team until this late in the season.

Prior to his year in Nashville, the 30-year-old spent time with the New York Giants, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Pittsburgh Steelers.

Titans’ top-5 touchdowns from the 2022 season

The Titans recently revealed their list of the top-five touchdowns from the 2022 season.

The Tennessee Titans recently revealed their top-five list for the best touchdowns the team scored during the 2022 campaign.

Running back Derrick Henry actually makes three appearances on the list, with one of them having to do with the flea flicker touchdown pass that quarterback Ryan Tannehill hit wide receiver Nick Westbrook-Ikhine with.

Just like Henry, Tannehill and NWI actually make multiple appearances on this list, and tight end Austin Hooper also gets involved thanks to his touchdown catch off a pass from Henry.

Tennessee’s lone defensive touchdown of the 2022 season also makes the cut. That came in Week 7, when safety Andrew Adams took a pick to the house.

Of the players to make the cut, only Henry and Tannehill are under contract for 2023, but the latter’s situation remains murky. Adams, Hooper and NWI (restricted) are all free agents this offseason, with Hooper being the biggest priority for the Titans of the three.

Potential free agents DC Jim Schwartz could bring over from Titans

Who could the new DC target to help fix the defense?

The Cleveland Browns took the first step in revitalizing their defense on Tuesday when they hired Jim Schwartz as their new coordinator. Schwartz brings with him an impressive track record as a defensive coach as well as some experience as a head coach. The next step will be to improve the roster and Schwartz may have his eye on some free agents from the Tennesee Titans where he was an assistant last season.

Though there aren’t a ton of big or flashy names he could bring with him quality depth is also needed on this roster. Targeting players familiar with his style can also help with teaching new players the ins and outs of the system.

A look at three players that the Browns should add from the Titans this offseason.

Titans place Andrew Adams on IR among 3 moves

Andrew Adams was placed on IR on Monday, officially ending his season.

The Tennessee Titans have placed yet another player on the injured reserve list going into the final week of the 2022 NFL season.

The team announced on Monday it has placed safety Andrew Adams on injured reserve, which will officially end his 2022 season. Adams had reportedly suffered a torn patellar tendon in Week 17.

Taking Adams’ spot on the roster is safety Mike Brown, who was signed off the Cleveland Browns’ practice squad. Tennessee also inked defensive back Nate Meadors to the practice squad.

Brown appeared in three games this season, playing all on special teams. He was originally a 2022 undrafted free agent signing of the Minnesota Vikings. Also a former UDFA, Meadors has played in three games in his career.

Adams’ placement on the list now brings the Titans’ current total on injured reserve to 23, and they’ve placed 34 players in total on the list this season, both league highs. Half of the Titans’ salary cap is on IR.

Thankfully for Tennessee, they won’t have to dip even deeper into their bench, as safety Amani Hooker is expected to return. We’ll know more Wednesday when Tennessee releases its first injury report.

Report: Titans’ Andrew Adams suffered serious injury vs. Cowboys

Titans S Andrew Adams reportedly suffered a torn patellar tendon against the Cowboys on Thursday night.

Tennessee Titans safety Andrew Adams suffered what is reportedly a season-ending injury during the Week 17 game against the Dallas Cowboys.

According to Jordan Schultz of The Score, Adams, who got injured on the touchdown pass to Cowboys tight end Dalton Schultz in the fourth quarter, suffered a torn patellar tendon injury.

Not only does that end Adams’ season, but a lengthy recovery process lies ahead of him, which is an unfortunate break for the defensive back.

The Titans brought Adams in back in late September and he has played admirably as an injury fill-in at safety. His best moment came in Week 7 against the Indianapolis Colts, when he returned a pick for a touchdown.

Adams has been playing for Amani Hooker, who has been banged-up all season long, but the hope is that he, along with several other starters, will return for a do-or-die Week 18 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

8 potential replacements for Eagles injured safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson

Here are eight players that Philadelphia could consider as potential replacements for an injured C.J. Gardner-Johnson in the Eagles’ secondary

The Eagles could be without safety Chauncey Gardner-Johnson for a few weeks after a test revealed that he suffered a lacerated kidney in the Sunday night win over the Packers.

Former Eagles star tight end Zach Ertz suffered a similar injury late in the 2019 season during a win over the Cowboys and was expected to miss the playoffs.

The NFL’s interception leader with six, Gardner-Johnson has been a stabilizing force at safety.

Here are eight potential replacements for Gardner-Johnson.

Titans’ best and worst PFF grades from Week 7 victory

Andrew Adams and Austin Hooper were the stars of the Titans’ Week 7 PFF grades and stats.

After the Tennessee Titans secured their fourth straight win in Week 7 over the Indianapolis Colts, it’s time to take a look at the advanced statistics from Pro Football Focus to get another angle of the victory.

The star of the PFF stats from Week 7 on defense was no doubt Andrew Adams, who secured the highest defensive grade, and the second-highest overall grade from both sides of the ball.

The highest PFF grade for the Titans on Sunday went to tight end Austin Hooper, who finally awoke from his season-long slumber to make some clutch catches in the win over Indy.

On top of checking out the best and worst grades from Week 7, we’ll also take a look at some stats, including the team’s performance in pass protection, coverage, and in the pass-rush.

Titans’ Andrew Adams talks notching pick-six vs. Colts

Three years after nearly getting his first defensive TD against the Titans, Andrew Adams got his first defensive TD as a member of them in Week 7.

When the Tennessee Titans signed defensive back Andrew Adams to their active roster last month, it was thought he would be just another warm body in the revolving door that has been Tennessee’s secondary depth this season.

However, little did we know Adams would end up making a huge impact that Titans fans won’t soon forget.

Not only did Adams finish tied for the team lead with 10 tackles, three of which helped set the tone early for the defense, he also notched his first career pick-six in the second quarter.

The play proved to be huge, as it accounted for seven of Tennessee’s 19 points on a day in which the offense couldn’t get anything going in the winning effort.

“I was able to get vision on Matt Ryan, and I saw him look to my right,” Adams said, per David Boclair of Sports Illustrated. “I got a good break, and I was looking at the quarterback. He kind of threw inside the receiver so I was able to get my hands on it. And the rest was history.”

Adams’ outstanding showing came on a day in which he saw increased opportunities.

The veteran defensive back got the starting nod at safety with the team trying something different and deploying safety Amani Hooker in the slot. It’s hard to argue with the move, as Tennessee’s secondary was much improved on Sunday, with a lot of help from the pass-rush, of course.

Interestingly enough, Adams nearly had his first defensive touchdown back in 2019 in a game against the Titans while he was with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but it didn’t end up standing.

“Actually, in 2019 — playing the Titans — I scooped up a fumble to score a touchdown, but they reviewed it and said it wasn’t a fumble,” Adams explained. “Actually, [the league office] came out the next day and said it was a fumble. So, they should have let it play.

“They actually robbed me of my first touchdown — the Titans. And now, I got my first touchdown with the Titans.”

Adams has now gone from just another dude making his way through the Titans’ roster to a name many Titans fans will never forget. At the very least he has earned the right to continue getting increased looks moving forward.
