Dallas Stars at Anaheim Ducks odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Thursday’s Dallas Stars at Anaheim Ducks sports betting odds and lines, with NHL betting picks, tips and best bets.

The Anaheim Ducks (17-21-5) host the Dallas Stars (25-14-4) Thursday at Honda Center for a 10 p.m. ET puck drop. We analyze the Stars-Ducks sports betting odds and lines, while providing NHL betting tips and picks around this matchup.

Stars at Ducks: Projected starting goalies

Ben Bishop vs. John Gibson

Bishop had the night off Wednesday as backup Anton Khudobin led the Stars to a 2-1 win over the Los Angeles Kings. The three-time Vezina Trophy finalist won his last two starts and is 14-9-3 on the year with a .926 save percentage and 2.33 goals against average. He has been considerably worse on the road with a .895 SV% and 3.31 GAA.

Gibson is coming off a home win over the Nashville Predators Sunday in which he stopped 22 of 26 shots on goal. He has a .906 SV% and 2.95 GAA for a 13-16-3 record.

Stars at Ducks: Odds, picks and betting tips

Odds courtesy of BetMGM; access them at USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated at 9 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Ducks 4, Stars 2

Moneyline (ML)

The Stars (-139) have strung together five straight wins, including three by at least two-goal margins. Khudobin drew both of the last two starts against the weaker competition of the Kings and Detroit Red Wings. Dallas is 7-3 across its last 10 games and 10-8-2 on the road for the season. The Ducks (+115) are coming off a 4-3 home loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets Tuesday. They’re 3-6-1 across their last 10 but are 11-8-3 at home.

Back the DUCKS (+115) at plus-money, due to their relatively impressive home record and Bishop’s struggles on the road. Both teams are below 50% in Corsi rating (percentage of total shot attempts) at 5-on-5.

Puck Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The safer, but less rewarding play, is to take the DUCKS (+1.5, -250) on the puck line. The Stars are 23-20 against the spread overall and 12-8 on the road, while the Ducks are 21-22 ATS overall and 10-12 at home. The Stars won the year’s first meeting 2-1 in Dallas.

New to sports betting? A $10 bet on the Ducks to lose by just 1 goal or win outright returns a profit of $4. The same wager on the moneyline for the straight-up win fetches a profit of $11.50.

Over/Under (O/U)

Go with the OVER 5.5 (+115) as the more profitable play. Anaheim is 7-3 against the Over/Under across its last 10 games while Dallas is 5-4-1. Follow Bishop’s road splits in our 4-2 win for the hosts as star D John Klingberg (lower body) remains out for Dallas.

Nashville Predators at Anaheim Ducks odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Sunday’s Nashville Predators at Anaheim Ducks sports betting odds and lines, with NHL betting picks, tips and best bets.

The Nashville Predators (19-15-6) visit the Anaheim Ducks (16-20-5) Sunday at Honda Center for a 10 p.m. ET puck drop. We analyze the Predators-Ducks sports betting odds and lines, while providing NHL betting tips and picks around this matchup.

Predators at Ducks: Projected starting goalies

Juuse Saros vs. John Gibson

Saros is just 1-3-1 across his last five games and is now 5-7-3 for the season. He has a .890 save percentage and 3.23 goals against average, with both rates being much worse than his career averages of .915 and 2.63.

Gibson is 2-2-1 over his last five outings and 12-16-3 for the season. He has a .907 SV% and 2.92 GAA. He has played best at Honda Center with a .919 SV% and 2.52 GAA.

Prediction

Predators 3, Ducks 1

Moneyline (ML)

The PREDATORS (-134) snapped a three-game losing streak with a 4-1 win over the Los Angeles Kings Saturday and look to keep things rolling through California. They’re 5-4-1 over their last 10 games and 9-8-2 on the road for the season. The Ducks (+110) are home dogs, but they’ve lost three straight and are 3-6-1 across their last 10 games.

The Predators rank fifth in the NHL with a Corsi rating (percentage of all shot attempts) of 52.80 at 5-on-5. The Ducks rank 23rd at 48.13%. Nashville won the season’s first head-to-head meeting 6-1 at home Oct. 22.

Puck Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

Increase your profit margin by backing the PREDATORS (-1.5, +200) to win by at least 2 goals. The Preds are 17-23 against the spread overall and 9-10 on the road, while the Ducks are 20-21 ATS overall and 9-11 at home. Fourteen of the Preds’ 19 wins were by at least a 2-goal margin, including the first meeting with the Ducks.

Over/Under (O/U)

Take the UNDER 5.5 (+100) at even money. Gibson plays best at home and Saros will get back on track against the stagnant Ducks offense. With only one side reliably contributing to the goal total, we’ll have plenty of room to breathe.

Anaheim Ducks at New Jersey Devils odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Wednesday’s Anaheim Ducks at New Jersey Devils sports betting odds and lines, with NHL betting picks, tips and best bets

The New Jersey Devils (10-17-5) host the Anaheim Ducks (14-16-4) Wednesday for a 7 p.m. ET puck drop at Prudential Center. We analyze the Ducks-Devils sports betting odds and lines, while providing NHL betting tips and picks around this matchup.

Ducks at Devils: Projected starting goalies

Ryan Miller vs. MacKenzie Blackwood

Former Vezina Trophy winner, Ryan Miller, is in the crease tonight for the Ducks and actually has a higher winning percentage (4-2-2) than regular starter John Gibson (10-14-2). Miller should be able to fill-in nicely against a Devils team that has only scored two or more goals in three of its last 10 games.

At the other end of the ice, Blackwood enters the game with a 9-9-4 record, 2.85 goals against average, .908 save percentage and one shutout. He has played well in his last four appearances allowing under two goals in each game.

Ducks at Devils: Odds, picks and betting tips

Odds courtesy of BetMGM; access them at USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated at 1:30 p.m. ET.

Prediction

Ducks 3, Devils 1

Moneyline (ML)

The Devils have the lowest net moneyline balance when at home at -$889. Meaning if you bet $100 on the Devils to win every time they’ve been home this season, you would have lost $889. Furthermore, the Ducks have owned the Devils in their inter-conference meetings, winning eight of the last 10 head-to-head games. Bet the DUCKS (-106) on the moneyline.

New to sports betting? A $10 bet on the Ducks to win outright in regulation, overtime or a shootout returns a profit of $9.43.

Puck Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The DUCKS (+1.5, -295) are a lock against the spread—10-6 ATS on the road—versus a Devils team that is worse ATS at home (5-11) compared to the road (6-10). Although, the payout is paltry—bet $29.50 to earn a profit of $10.

Over/Under (O/U)

On Monday, the Devils traded away former Hart Trophy winner, and point-leader, Taylor Hall to the Arizona Coyotes after the two parties couldn’t agree on a contract extension. Not a good sign for a Devils offense that ranks dead last in goals scored with 76.

Combine the Devils’ offensive futility with the Ducks lack of scoring—ranked 27th in goals scored—and a reduced vig, UNDER -5.5 (-106) is the sharp play here.

Anaheim Ducks at Philadelphia Flyers odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Tuesday’s Anaheim Ducks at Philadelphia Flyers sports betting odds and lines, with NHL betting picks, tips and best bets.

The Anaheim Ducks (14-15-4) tangle with the Philadelphia Flyers (17-11-5) at Wells Fargo Center at 7 p.m. ET Tuesday. We analyze the Ducks-Flyers sports betting odds and lines, with NHL matchup analysis, picks and tips.

Ducks at Flyers: Projected starting goalies

John Gibson vs. Carter Hart

Gibson heads into this one with a 10-13-2 record, 2.79 goals against average and .910 save percentage. He is coming off a 4-3 shootout win over the New York Rangers Saturday.

Hart carries a 10-7-3 record, 2.47 GAA and .906 SV% into play, but he is on a personal two-start skid. He allowed three goals on 30 shots in each of his past two outings in Colorado and Minnesota, but the Flyers managed just one goal in each of the outings to give him an undeserved L.

Prediction

Flyers 4, Ducks 2

Moneyline (ML)

The FLYERS (-143) are heavily favored despite the fact the Ducks have dominated this series lately. The Ducks are 12-4 in the past 16 meetings in this series, and 7-1 in the past eight trips to the City of Brotherly Love. However, Anaheim has won just five of its past 18 games overall this season, and the Ducks are 1-5 in the past six on the road. Philly has won four of the past five overall, and is 7-2 in the past nine as a home favorite.

New to sports betting? Every $10 wagered for the Flyers to win in regulation, overtime or a shootout would profit $7 if they do so.

Puck Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

PASS. While I think the Flyers end their dismal showing in this series against the Ducks, I’m not confident enough to lay two goals. My lean is certainly to the home side (-1.5, +185), but confidence isn’t high enough to risk it on the puck line.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 5.5 (-121) is 7-2-2 in the past 11 meetings in this series, and 3-0-2 in the past five meetings in Pennsylvania.

Rangers center Mika Zibanejad scored the second fastest goal in Rangers history

Well, that was fast.

Hockey is an extremely fast game. That’s one of the best things about the sport — it flows and moves quickly. But it’s not normally THIS quick.

It took all of 10 seconds for New York Rangers center Mike Zibanejad to score the first goal of the game against the Anaheim Ducks. It all happened so quickly.

The Rangers won the face-off but the Ducks quickly stole the puck. Zibanejad happened to be skating in the right place at the right time and intercepted an arid pass from the Ducks on his way slashing to the goal. It led to a shot and, boom, he scored.

The crazy part is he was still one second shy of scoring the fastest goal in franchise history. The record of nine seconds has been hit twice in Rangers history — once by Ron Duguay in 1980 and another time by Jim Wiemer in 1985.

Got to be quicker than that, I guess. It’s still impressive.

Washington Capitals at Anaheim Ducks odds, lines, picks and best bets

Previewing Friday’s Washington Capitals at Anaheim Ducks sports betting odds and lines, with NHL betting picks, tips and best bets.

The Washington Capitals (21-4-5) wrap up a four-game road trip Friday against the Anaheim Ducks (12-12-4) at Honda Center. Puck drop is scheduled for slightly after 10 p.m. ET. We analyze the Capitals-Ducks sports betting odds and lines, while providing NHL betting tips and picks around this matchup.

Capitals at Ducks: Projected starting goalies

Braden Holtby vs. John Gibson

Holtby has backstopped the Caps to three straight wins, including a 23-save effort against the San Jose Sharks Tuesday. He leads the league with 14 victories and has a .909 save percentage and 2.82 goals against average.

Gibson gave up three goals on just 20 shots faced against the Winnipeg Jets in his most recent start. He is 8-11-2 on the year with a .910 SV% and 2.86 GAA.

Capitals at Ducks: Odds, picks and betting tips

Odds courtesy of BetMGM; access them at USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated 11 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Capitals 5, Ducks 2

Moneyline (ML)

The CAPITALS (-154) cruise into Friday on a five-game winning streak and with a 13-2-1 road record. The Ducks (+125) are coming off a 4-2 home victory over the Los Angeles Kings and have an 8-5-2 record at Honda Center.

Washington’s plus-26 goal differential is second-best in the NHL, while Anaheim is minus-nine. The Caps also have the analytical edge with the better rates of Corsi (percentage of all shot attempts), scoring chances and PDO (shooting percentage plus save percentage) at 5-on-5.

Puck Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

Back the CAPITALS (-1.5, +170) on the spread for a greater return on your investment. A $10 bet will return a profit of $17 should they win by two or more goals. Each of their last three victories was by a multi-goal margin. Three of the Ducks’ last five losses were by gaps of at least three goals.

Washington is 18-12 against the spread overall and 13-3 ATS on the road. Anaheim is 14-14 ATS overall and just 6-9 at home. The Capitals win this one handily.

Over/Under (O/U)

Take the OVER 5.5 (-143) with the Capitals likely to handle the bulk of the scoring. The Caps went 6-4 against the Over/Under across their last 10 games while the Ducks went 7-3 against the projected totals.

Los Angeles Kings at Anaheim Ducks odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Monday’s Los Angeles Kings at Anaheim Ducks sports betting odds and lines, with NHL betting picks, tips and best bets.

The Los Angeles Kings (11-14-2) visit the rival Anaheim Ducks (11-12-4) Monday at Honda Center. Puck drop is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET. We analyze the Kings-Ducks sports betting odds and lines, while providing NHL betting tips and picks around this matchup.

Kings at Ducks: Projected starting goalies

Jonathan Quick vs. John Gibson

Quick is 7-10-1 through 18 starts with a .882 save percentage and 3.36 goals against average. He allowed four goals on just 22 shots in a loss to the San Jose Sharks his last time out and is 2-2-1 over his last five games.

Gibson is 1-2-2 across his last five outings, and most recently gave up three goals on 20 shots in a home loss against the Winnipeg Jets. He is 8-11-2 with a .910 SV% and 2.86 GAA.

Kings at Ducks: Odds, picks and betting tips

Odds courtesy of BetMGM; access them at USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated 9 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Kings 3, Ducks 2

Moneyline (ML)

The Ducks and Kings hold the bottom two spots in the Pacific Division. The Kings have been playing their best hockey of the year of late, going 6-3-1 across their last 10 games including a 2-1 home win over the Winnipeg Jets Saturday. The Ducks have dropped two straight and were shutout 3-0 by those same Jets at home Friday.

The KINGS (+120) are just 2-9-1 on the road while being a respectable 9-5-1 on home ice. The Ducks (-143) are 7-5-2 at home but just 2-5-3 over their last 10 games overall. Take the value with the visitors as the two teams continue heading in opposite directions.

New to sports betting? A $10 bet on the Kings to win outright in regulation, overtime or a shootout returns a profit of $12.

Puck Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The moneyline is the more profitable play at plus-money, but the KINGS (+1.5, -238) can also be taken on the spread with one goal of insurance in the event of a loss. The Kings are 12-15 against the spread overall and 4-8 on the road, but the Ducks are just 5-9 ATS at home (13-14 overall).

The Ducks’ last two wins were each decided by three goals, but they went just 2-5 straight up in that time. I like LA to come away with the victory, but the spread helps protect against this game going to overtime or a shootout.

Over/Under (O/U)

Take the UNDER 5.5 (-120). The Kings went 2-7-1 against the projected goal totals across their last 10 games while the Ducks were 7-3 in favor of the Over. Quick has been playing better of late following an awful start to the year and keeps this one short of the number.

New York Islanders at Anaheim Ducks odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Monday’s Islanders at Ducks NHL matchup with NHL betting odds, picks and best bets

The New York Islanders (16-3-2) travel to Southern California to face the Anaheim Ducks (10-11-3) at Honda Center on Monday at 10 p.m. ET. We analyze the Islanders-Ducks odds and lines while providing NHL betting tips around this matchup.

Islanders at Ducks: Projected starting goalies

Thomas Greiss vs. John Gibson

Greiss has a 9-1 record for New York with a 2.07 goals against average and .934 save percentage. The Islanders goaltender has won eight straight starts, allowing 16 goals in that span.

Gibson was given the night off on Saturday in place of Ryan Miller. The Anaheim starter has a 7-10-1 record with a 3.02 GAA and .908 SV%, and he has given up 4+ goals in four of his last five starts. The one he did not was a 37-save win against St. Louis.

Islanders at Ducks: Odds, picks and betting tips

Odds courtesy of BetMGM; access them at USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated at 12:25 p.m. ET.

Prediction

Islanders 3, Ducks 2

Moneyline (ML)

The ISLANDERS (-125) are rolling along with a 17-game point streak and Anaheim has lost three straight contests. New York played well despite losing in overtime in San Jose on Saturday and Anaheim should at the least allow some shots and goals. With the Islanders’ normal defensive structure, they should win outright.

A $10 bet with New York results in an $8 profit with an outright win for the Islanders.

Puck Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The Islanders have played in seven straight one-goal games while Anaheim has lost seven of eight. Here is the problem. Can one trust the Islanders to win by two or more goals? The numbers say no. Anaheim at +1.5 is -278 which is just too high. AVOID.

Over/Under (O/U)

The UNDER 5.5 (-121) is a nice, small play on Monday night given the last five meetings have seen the under connect four times. Yes, both teams are just above .500 when it comes to the over but the under here is more likely given each team’s style. Anaheim would prefer to play things a bit slower, which is New York’s style.

Ducks-Capitals odds: Washington an easy home favorite

Previewing Monday’s Anaheim Ducks at Washington Capitals sports betting odds and lines, with NHL matchup analysis, picks and tips.

The Anaheim Ducks (10-9-2) travel to the nation’s capital to face the Washington Capitals (15-3-4) at Capital One Arena Monday at 7 p.m. ET. We analyze the Ducks-Capitals odds and lines while providing NHL betting tips around this matchup.

Ducks at Capitals: Projected starting goalies

John Gibson vs. Braden Holtby

Gibson has a 7-9 record for Anaheim with a 2.83 goals against average and a .915 save percentage. After losing three straight starts, Gibson turned in a 37-save gem against the St. Louis Blues Saturday.

Holtby has posted a 2.97 goals against average and a .904 save percentage. He has won five consecutive starts and four of them have seen him allow two or fewer goals.

Ducks at Capitals: Odds, picks and betting tips

Odds courtesy of BetMGM; access them at USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated at 9:30 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Capitals 4, Ducks 2

Moneyline (ML)

The CAPITALS (-228) are in a good position against a Ducks team with trouble stringing together road victories. Anaheim has lost six straight road games after a road win.

Monday expects to be a game where Washington should be able to attack Anaheim’s weakened defense (no Josh Manson or Hampus Lindholm) with regularity. The Capitals are our pick here.

A $10 bet on the Capitals results in a $4.39 profit with a Washington win.

Puck Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The CAPITALS have better value on the spread (-1.5, +115) Monday night and are one of the better teams at covering the spread. Their 14-8 record is good for fourth in the NHL. Given how often they are favored in games, it should not come as much of a surprise. It also helps that they average nearly four goals per game at home.

Taking the Capitals to cover at -115 results in an $8.70 profit with a $10 wager.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 5.5 (-139) is a good choice for Monday night.

Placing a $10 bet here will give a bettor a decent $7.19 profit with a total of six or more goals scored.

Red Wings-Ducks odds: Anaheim has slight edge over Detroit

Previewing Tuesday’s Detroit Red Wings at Anaheim Ducks sports betting odds, with NHL matchup analysis and picks.

The Anaheim Ducks (9-8-1) entertain the Detroit Red Wings (6-12-1) at Honda Center Tuesday at 10:00 p.m. ET. We analyze the Red Wings-Ducks odds and lines while providing NHL betting tips around this matchup.

Red Wings at Ducks: Projected starting goalies

Jimmy Howard vs. John Gibson

Howard has posted a 2-8 record so far with a 3.99 goals against average and .887 save percentage. He has won three straight starts while allowing just six goals on his last 84 shots faced.

Gibson expects to get the nod Tuesday despite allowing six goals to the Edmonton Oilers Sunday night. He is 6-8 with a 2.80 GAA and .915 SV%. Gibson gets less than 2.5 goals per game of support which is in the bottom five of the league among starters.

Red Wings at Ducks: Odds, picks and betting tips

Odds courtesy of BetMGM; access them at USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated Tuesday at 7:55 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Ducks 3, Red Wings 2

Moneyline (ML)

The DUCKS (-154) are a bit more rested here as Detroit is on a West Coast road trip. Detroit has won two straight while Anaheim has dropped consecutive games at home. This has brought down the moneyline a bit and may continue to do so during the day.

A $10.00 bet with Anaheim results in a $6.49 profit with an outright win for the Ducks.

Puck Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The spread is a bet to AVOID as the Ducks have been spotty at home of late. Also, Anaheim has won three of the last four matchups but needed empty-net goals in two of them to provide the extra cushion. These teams just tend to play lower-scoring contests.

Over/Under (O/U)

The UNDER 5.5 (+105) is a modest, small play. Both teams could score three-plus goals or this could be a 2-1 outcome. There is a good amount of variance here.

The last four meetings have seen the Under connect thrice.
