Auburn football: Tigers drop in latest Amway Coaches Poll

The Tigers dropped in the Amway Coaches Poll after getting dominated by Georgia.

Auburn was embarrassed on Saturday night in Athens as Georgia dominated every aspect of the game in a 27-6 victory that somehow wasn’t as close as the final score.

In the latest Amway Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports, the Tigers paid the price by dropping to No. 13.

The Tigers could not get anything going on offense against the Bulldogs, putting up just 216 yards of total offense and failing to find the end zone.

After major upsets, the Amway Coaches Poll features a new top 5

The week three Amway Coaches Poll

College football was back in full swing yesterday, and the upsets came fast and furious. With both the SEC and the Big 12 conference in action, top five teams in Oklahoma and LSU each went down in shocking fashion. The new Amway Coaches Poll reflected a wild week of upsets.

Wisconsin dropped down one spot in the rankings to No. 18 overall despite not playing. The Badgers open their season on October 24, and it is anybody’s guess as to how the Big Ten will be judged once they begin play.

Here is a look at the entire poll, with Big Ten teams moving up and down.

Ohio State, Penn State in the top ten of latest Amway Coaches Poll

Some Big Ten teams moved around the Amway Coaches Poll this weekend.

Michigan State Football has yet to play a game yet, so it’s unsurprising that they are nowhere to be seen in the latest Amway Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports. However, a few other Big Ten schools have climbed the ranks despite the lack of Big Ten action.

Ohio State and Penn State both jumped up to No. 6 and No. 10, respectively. Minnesota dropped out of the Top 25,  Michigan and Wisconsin both slipped down a couple spots as well.

Georgia still ranked above Notre Dame in latest Amway Coaches Poll

After a very uninspiring season opening win, the Georgia Bulldogs are still ranked over Notre Dame.

[jwplayer utBWq5HX-er0jUifI]

Maybe Jamie Newman knew something about how inept the Georgia offense would be this season when he opted out of the 2020 season. After trailing 7-5 at halftime to one of the worst teams in the SEC, Arkansas, the Bulldogs broke through and won “handily” 37-10.

The optics look good for Kirby Smart’s team, but it wasn’t like their quarterback, D’wan Mathis in his first career start, found his groove in the second half. It was Stetson Bennett, in his second go-around with his home state team that led the charge.

The score makes it read like the Razorbacks were punched in the mouth early and Georgia coasted to a win, obviously not the case. How Georgia was No. 4 over the Irish in the latest Amway Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports will bother me at least until next week when the Week 6 edition is released.

Taking a look at other surprises include Miami jumping 6 spots to No. 8, Mississippi State and Pittsburgh going from unranked to ranked, and Oklahoma and LSU dropping 13 spots after upset losses.

Here is the latest poll, with the ACC teams in bold and last weeks ranking in parenthesis.

Week 4 Amway Coaches Poll: Texas stays put, Oklahoma out of top 15

After the win, Texas will remain ranked No. 9 in the Amway Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports. Both Ohio State and Miami jumped UT.

Texas had the most exciting game of the weekend, beating Texas Tech in overtime, 63-56. Sam Ehlinger’s touchdown to Joshua Moore in the extra period won the game for the Longhorns.

After the win, Texas will remain ranked No. 9 in the Amway Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports. Both Ohio State and Miami jumped the Longhorns in the poll. The Hurricanes dominated Florida State on Saturday while the Buckeyes have not yet played a game yet this season.

As for the rest of the Big 12, only two teams are in the poll. Oklahoma dropped down to No. 16 after losing to Kansas State in Norman. Oklahoma State also fell one spot to No. 19 despite beating West Virginia.

Pac-12 teams remain out of the poll even though the conference announced its return to play.

Even in a poll that includes the Big 10, the Gators’ performance on Saturday has coaches around the country impressed.

Florida is moving up in the latest update to the Amway Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

In its record-setting 51-35 victory over Ole Miss on Saturday in the season opener, quarterback Kyle Trask tossed six touchdowns and threw for over 400 yards. After that performance, the Gators have jumped three spots in the poll from No. 6 to No. 3, just behind No. 1 Clemson and No. 2 Alabama.

UF jumped No. 4 Georgia, who trailed at halftime 7-5 to Arkansas in its season opener before pulling away to a 37-10 win. It also jumped Oklahoma and LSU, who each suffered major upsets at the hands of Kansas State and Mississippi State, respectively.

Twitter reacts to Florida jumping Georgia

The Twitter world reacts to Florida jumping Georgia in the polls, following Week 1 matchups.

The Florida Gators jumped the Georgia Bulldogs in this week’s Amway Coaches Poll, powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Georgia stayed put at No. 4 while Florida jumped from No. 6 to No. 3 following a 51-35 victory over Ole Miss.

Here’s how the Twitter world reacted to the changes:

Ohio State moves up in latest Amway Coaches Poll

The latest Amway Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY has Ohio State moving up a few spots. Where are the Buckeyes now?

Ohio State has yet to play a game and already it’s making moves in the Amway Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports– well sort of. It really depends on your definition of positive moves I guess.

That’s because the Buckeyes started the preseason at No. 2 before the Big Ten decided to postpone/cancel in the fall. After that, OSU dropped completely out. But wait! Ohio State re-entered the poll when the conference reversed course and decided to put fall football on television sets and streaming devices again, but only at No. 10.

Now, in the latest release of the Amway Coaches Poll, the Buckeyes have jumped four spots, all the way up to No. 6. So, if you’re counting, Ohio State has a four-point net negative fall in the poll since the first look at everything.

Welcome to the year 2020.

Clemson remained No. 1, followed by Alabama (2), Florida (3), Georgia (4),  and Notre Dame (5) ahead of the Buckeyes. Rounding out the top ten are Auburn (7), Miami (8), Texas (9), and Penn State (10).
