Golfweek’s 2022-23 men’s college golf All-Americans

Check out the men’s All-Americans from the 2022-23 season.

The 2022-23 college golf season has concluded, with two weeks of NCAA Championships at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona.

And it was a sweep for the Florida Gators. It started with Fred Biondi’s come-from-behind victory in the individual competition to capture the title, and then in the match play championship, the Gators also came from down late to defeat Georgia Tech and win the fifth title in school history and first in more than two decades.

Now that the dust has settled on the season, it’s time to hand out some individual awards. Here are Golfweek’s First Team, Second Team, Third Team and Honorable Mention All-Americans for the 2022-23 men’s college golf season.

Florida’s O’Cyrus Torrence named an AP All-American

The postseason accolades for O’Cyrus Torrence continue to roll in and this is a big one.

Florida right guard [autotag]O’Cyrus Torrence[/autotag] made the Associated Press All-America First Team on Monday capping off his only season at the university.

Torrence has already declared for the upcoming NFL draft and will forgo the team’s bowl game next week in Las Vegas, but he’s still collecting postseason accolades before he departs. He anchored an offensive line that allowed just 15 sacks all year and averaged 213.7 rushing yards per game. This latest honor only solidifies him as one of the top offensive linemen in all of college football.

Pro Football Focus gave him the highest grade of any offensive guard in the country, so it’s not too surprising to see Torrence pick up the First Team nod from the Associated Press.

A three-star recruit out of high school, Torrence burst onto the national scene under Billy Napier at the University of Louisiana and then followed his coach to prove that he could find the same success in the Southeastern Conference. He didn’t commit a single penalty while at UF and is an expected first-round pick in the upcoming draft.

Torrence is the first Gators offensive lineman named to the All-America First Team since Mike Pearson in 2001, per the university’s athletic association.

Florida OL transfer makes ESPN’s way-too-early All-America team

ESPN is expecting this Florida transfer to be one of the best offensive linemen in the country.

With the 2021 season in the rear-view mirror, it’s now time to begin looking ahead to next season and who the top players in the country might be. ESPN released an admittedly way-too-early 2022 All-America team in January, and Florida guard O’Cyrus Torrence made the cut.

After Billy Napier left Lousiana to take over at Florida, a handful of Ragin’ Cajuns entered the transfer portal. Torrence was the highest-rated of the bunch sitting at No. 20 on 247Sports’ transfer portal player ranking. He was the top-ranked interior offensive lineman in the portal and the No. 2 offensive lineman overall. Stewart Reese is set to move on after holding down the starting right guard spot for two years, and Torrence is a strong replacement for him.

Following Billy Napier to Florida, Torrence is a big get (literally) for the Gators after starting for three years at Louisiana and twice earning All-Sun Belt Conference honors. The 6-5, 335-pound Torrence has played both left and right guard and filled in occasionally at tackle. He dominates defenders in the running game and was one of the most coveted offensive linemen this offseason in the transfer portal.

A 38-game starter at right guard for Louisiana, Torrence is more than qualified to take over the starting role for an SEC team. He also knows what Napier and his staff are looking for in a guard. He’s played under both offensive line coaches, Rob Sale and Darnell Stapleton, in the past as well.

Florida’s not the only SEC team represented on this early All-America team. Alabama had four players named to the team, and a trio of Georgia Bulldogs made it too.

Texas RB Bijan Robinson makes ESPN’s early All-America team for 2022

Bijan Robinson headlines ESPN’s 2022 way-too-early All-America team.

Although the season has been over for about a week, college football fans and media members are already looking forward to the 2022 season.

Texas fans in particular are one of the biggest fan bases trying to forget all the pain that they endured during Steve Sarkisian’s first season, when the team went 5-7 and showed no signs of being back.

However, with a highly ranked recruiting class and several talented transfer portal additions, things are looking up for Longhorns fans.

To make matters even better, they are returning superstar running back Bijan Robinson, who is arguably the best player at his position in the entire nation. Robinson finished the 2021 season with 195 rushes for 1,127 yards and 11 touchdowns. He also added 26 catches for 295 yards and four touchdown catches, all before he dislocated his elbow and missed the final two games.

It was evident that he was one of the nation’s elite playmakers, and he is still considered as such, as ESPN named him to their 2022 way-too-early All-America team. He joins players such as Alabama’s Bryce Young and Pitt’s Jordan Addison on the offensive side of the ball. Here is what ESPN had to say about Texas’ workhorse running back:

It’s no revelation that the Longhorns weren’t very good last season, but Robinson remains one of the most electric running backs in college football and still managed to rush for 1,127 yards and score 15 touchdowns in 10 games. He missed the last two contests with a dislocated elbow. Look for Robinson to have his best season yet in 2022 with his ability to make plays in both the running and passing games.

Texas will need him to be healthy and shine like he has in the past in order to take some of the pressure off the passing game regardless of who is starting. If he can stay healthy, Robinson is poised for a career year that may possibly help the Longhorns reach success they haven’t seen in a while.
