Coming into National Signing Day on Wednesday, there were rumors that four-star defensive tackle Tim Smith could flip his commitment from Alabama to Florida.

Fortunately for the Crimson Tide, Smith, the nation’s No. 85 player according to the 247Sports composite rankings, decided to stick things out and sign.

The importance of Alabama keeping Smith cannot be overstated. At 6-foot-4, 320 pounds, he’s an extremely powerful, yet athletic, defensive lineman who could be an early contributor in the Tide’s front three.

Alabama hauled in an impressive group of defensive lineman in the 2019 class (DJ Dale, Justin Eboigbe, Byron Young, Ishmael Sophsher and Braylen Ingraham) while adding Smith and Jah-Marien Latham during the early signing period on Wednesday.

Now, if the Tide can just hold on to Jamil Burroughs and Jayson Jones, who could also end up on the offensive line, through February, this could end up being a dominate group before they’re done in Tuscaloosa.

In addition to being the No. 85 overall player, Smith is also listed as the No. 7 defensive tackle and No. 16 player from the state of Florida, according to the 247Sports composite rankings.

UGA recruiting: four-star Jacorey Brooks releases top schools

The Georgia Bulldogs, Miami Hurricanes, FSU Seminoles and several SEC schools made four-star WR Jacorey Brooks top seven schools.

Four-star wide receiver Jacorey Brooks put the Georgia Bulldogs in his top seven schools. Brooks is a top-ten receiver in the class of 2021. He plays for Booker T. Washington High School in Miami, Florida.

Brooks placed Florida State, Texas A&M, LSU, Georgia, Miami, Alabama, and Florida in his top schools:

Georgia football is recruiting Florida as hard as ever in recent seasons. Florida’s major powerhouse programs haven’t been recruiting at an elite level in recent seasons and Georgia, Clemson, and Alabama have been there to pick up the slack. The Florida Gators have been doing better since Dan Mullen took over.

Georgia currently has a WR commitment in the class of 2020 from the Miami-Fort Lauderdale area in Marcus Rosemy. The 2020 early signing day is just around the corner for college football.

WATCH: Nick Saban busts some moves during Bama recruiting weekend

One of the moments everyone looks forward to is seeing Nick Saban do the cupid shuffle on the dance floor.

Since Alabama’s Iron Bowl lost to Auburn that cost the Crimson Tide a chance at the College Football Playoff, Nick Saban has been one very busy man.

Saban has been traveling all over the country recruiting for the 2020 class. As of right now, Alabama has the No. 2 recruiting class with 23 recruitments, including three 5 stars, one of which is the highly anticipated 5 star QB Bryce Young.

On Saturday, Nick and Terry Saban hosted an annual party at their house for the big recruits in town. One of the moments everyone looks forward to is seeing Nick Saban do the cupid shuffle on the dance floor.

Alabama four star recruit Malachi Moore’s mother posted both of these videos.

Terry Saban, Nick Saban’s wife, also joined in on the fun.

BREAKING: Alabama CB Scooby Carter enters transfer portal

Alabama could be losing a member of its 2019 recruiting class in DB Scooby Carter, who announced he’d be entering the transfer portal.

Alabama could lose one of the key members in its 2019 recruiting class, as true freshman defensive back Scooby Carter announced via his Twitter account that he would be entering the transfer portal.

That news, of course, was announced on Monday night.

The 6-foot, 186-pound corner was a top 100 prospect coming out of Mansfield Legacy High School in Mansfield (Tex.). According to the 247Sports composite rankings, Carter was rated as the No. 91 overall player, No. 9 cornerback and No. 15 player from the state of Texas.

Gabe Brooks with 247Sports had described him as a “long, lean and very athletic prospect who projects as a true cornerback at the high-major level.”

Unfortunately for Carter, Alabama had a lot of veteran leadership returning at cornerback with Trevon Diggs, Patrick Surtain II, Shyheim Carter, Josh Jobe and Jalyn Armour-Davis all still ahead of him on the depth chart.

Hopefully, Carter is able to land somewhere that will be able to give him the opportunity to see the field, whether that is in 2020 or beyond.
