South Carolina at Alabama odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s South Carolina at Alabama odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The No. 7 Alabama Crimson Tide (4-1, 1-1 SEC) welcome the South Carolina Gamecocks (3-2, 1-2) to Bryant-Denny Stadium Saturday. Kickoff is set for noon ET (ABC). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college football odds around the South Carolina vs. Alabama odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Alabama won each of its 1st 3 games by at least 30 points, covering in 2 of them. They then took down the No. 4 Georgia Bulldogs at home 41-34 in Week 5. The Crimson Tide are coming off arguably the worst loss in program history, losing 40-35 on the road to the Vanderbilt Commodores last Saturday as a 23-point favorite. The Crimson Tide are 3-2 against the spread (ATS) and are 1-1 ATS in SEC play.

South Carolina isn’t expected to compete much in this game as it is coming off a 27-3 home loss to the No. 8 Ole Miss Rebels. The Gamecocks do have an impressive 31-6 road win over the Kentucky Wildcats, a team that has beaten Ole Miss this season. The Gamecocks 3-2 ATS and 1-0 ATS on the road. They are led by RB Raheim Sanders, who has rushed for a team-high 315 yards.

South Carolina at Alabama picks and predictions

Prediction

Alabama 41, South Carolina 14

Moneyline

PASS.

There’s no reason to take the moneyline here. The Crimson Tide are going to rebound at home, but they aren’t worth a play as a hefty favorite.

Against the spread

BET ALABAMA -21.5 (-105).

The Crimson Tide have dominated weaker opponents this season outside of their road blip in Week 6. They beat Wisconsin on the road by 32, USF by 26 and Western Kentucky by 63. Alabama even beat Georgia as an underdog. It tabbed Washington coach Kalen DoBoer to take over from Nick Saban, and he has the offense running at a high level. QB Jalen Milroe has a total of 20 TDs.

With South Carolina coming off a game in which it scored just 3 points, it’ll be difficult for it to keep pace with a dynamic Alabama attack. The Gamecocks are 0-1 ATS as a double-digit underdog this season. They have 5 passing TDs and 3 INTs, so this team hasn’t been able to air it out efficiently.

With those trends in mind, expect the Crimson Tide to bounce back in a big way and back ALABAMA -21.5 (-105).

Over/Under

BET OVER 50.5 (-110).

The South Carolina offensive had been running smoothly until its Week 6 showdown with Ole Miss. In its 3 games prior, it topped 30 points in each. It could be able to get into the end zone a few times. South Carolina is 2-1 O/U in its last 3 games.

Alabama’s offense has not slowed down this season, but its defense has. The Crimson Tide have scored 35 or more points in all 5 games and 41-plus  points in 4 of them. They have allowed a total of 74 points in their last 2 games after giving up just 26 through the 1st 3 weeks. Alabama has gone Over in 3 straight games and is 4-1 O/U this season.

Back OVER 50.5 (-110).

Alabama at Vanderbilt odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Alabama at Vanderbilt odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Alabama Crimson Tide (4-0, 1-0 SEC) face off against the Vanderbilt Commodores (2-2, 0-1) Saturday. Kickoff from FirstBank Stadium is set for 4:15 p.m. ET (SEC Network). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college football odds around the Alabama vs. Vanderbilt odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Vanderbilt, who was off last week, was handed a 30-27 loss in 2OT by the No. 8 Missouri Tigers Sep. 21 while covering as a 17.5-point underdog. Vandy allowed Missouri to score all of the final 10 points in the loss. The Commodores have lost 2 straight and have allowed at least 30 points in both losses.

Alabama narrowly beat the No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs 41-34 Saturday in a thrilling finish while covering as a 2-point underdog. Freshman WR Ryan Williams caught the go-ahead 75-yard TD pass with 2 minutes to go in the win. Alabama is No. 2 in the US LBM Coaches Poll.

Alabama at Vanderbilt picks and predictions

Prediction

Alabama 41, Vanderbilt 28

Moneyline

PASS.

Alabama should pick up the win here as a -2500 favorite, but the Crimson Tide are not worth the risk of betting on as such heavy favorites. Bet on the spread and/or total instead.+

Against the spread

BET VANDERBILT +23.5 (-110).

Vanderbilt, despite being only 2-2 this season, has looked very solid when playing against higher-level opponents. The Crimson Tide’s defense this year is solid, but is only 8th in the SEC in total yards allowed per game (315.8). So Vanderbilt’s offense will be the key to covering here as a heavy underdog.

This Alabama squad is better than any team the Commodores have faced this season, but Vanderbilt will be able to cover.

Over/Under

BEY OVER 54.5 (-110).

The Over has hit in each of Vanderbilt’s 4 games this season and is 3-1 for Alabama this year, hitting in back-to-back games for the Crimson Tide.

Alabama should have no trouble scoring on this Vanderbilt defense, and I expect Vanderbilt to find some solid success offensively as well, so the Over is a safe bet here.

Georgia at Alabama odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Georgia at Alabama odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The top-ranked Georgia Bulldogs (3-0, 1-0 SEC) travel to meet the 4th-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide (3-0, 0-0) Saturday in a conference game at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET (ABC/ESPN+). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college football odds around the Georgia vs. Alabama odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Bulldogs hit the road for Tuscaloosa looking to solve the problem that has been the Crimson Tide. Alabama leads the all-time series 43-26-4, with the Tide winning 8 of the past 9 meetings. That includes the CFP National Championship Game in Atlanta Jan. 8, 2018, a 26-23 win by the Tide.

Georgia’s only victory in the past 9 tries against Alabama came in the CFP National Championship Game in Indianapolis Jan. 10, 2022, a 33-18 victory. The teams have met 4 times in the past 12 years since Dec. 1, 2012, in the SEC Championship Game, with the Tide winning each of those outings.

The Bulldogs are coming off a 13-12 victory at Kentucky last time out on Sept. 14, but it obviously came nowhere near covering as a 21.5-point favorite as the Under (45) cashed. The Under is 3-0 in 3 tries, with the defense allowing just 6 FGs and 0 TDs all season.

The Crimson Tide had a game similar to the Georgia game at Kentucky. Alabama had its hands full with USF of all teams. On Sept. 7, Bama led just 21-16 with 5:50 to go before pulling away with 3 TDs to make it 42-16.

Georgia at Alabama picks and predictions

Prediction

Georgia 26, Alabama 20

Moneyline

GEORGIA (-115) is worth a look in this road battle. The Bulldogs have lost 8 of the past 9 games in this series, but they’re the better team here.

While Georgia struggled mightily at Kentucky, QB Carson Beck should come back strong, and the Bulldogs defense should be able to slow QB Jalen Milroe.

The coaching scales are tipped in UGA’s favor, too, as Kalen DeBoer gets his first taste of this ultra-intense rivalry, and it will be too much against Kirby Smart in his first go-around.

Against the spread

Don’t risk pushing on Georgia -1 (-110) just to save the 5 cents.

AVOID.

Over/Under

UNDER 49.5 (-110) is the lean based on the defense of Georgia.

Alabama cashed the Over in a 42-10 spanking of Wisconsin on the road, no less. The Tide have scored 42 or more points in all 3 games to date, but they haven’t faced the likes of the Bulldogs defense. In fact, they’ve seen nothing even close. Not many have.

Georgia will give up its 1st TD, but points should still be at a premium in this titanic matchup. Go low.

Alabama at Wisconsin odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Alabama at Wisconsin odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Alabama Crimson Tide (2-0) travel to meet the Wisconsin Badgers (2-0) Saturday at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison. Kickoff is scheduled for noon ET (FOX). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college football odds around the Alabama vs. Wisconsin odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Crimson Tide received a bit of a scare last weekend against USF, although it might not appear so on the surface. Alabama won 42-16, but it led just 14-13 after 3 quarters, and 21-16 with less than 6 minutes to go. However, the Crimson Tide piled up 21 points in the final 5:50 to make things look more lopsided than they were.

Alabama’s defense actually allowed the Bulls to run for 206 yards, outrushing the Tide by 7 yards. The Crimson Tide also committed an uncharacteristic 13 penalties for 120 yards, while losing 3 fumbles.

Wisconsin has eased by both Western Michigan and FCS South Dakota by 14 points in each victory. The Badgers haven’t covered in either game, and the defense has yielded just 13.5 points per game (PPG) to help Wisconsin cash the Under in both outings.

Alabama is No. 4 in the US LBM Coaches Poll, conducted by the American Football Coaches Association and USA TODAY Sports

Alabama at Wisconsin picks and predictions

Prediction

Alabama 27, Wisconsin 13

Moneyline

There is no way you can risk 8 times your potential return on Alabama (-800) in this game. However, it’s hard to imagine Wisconsin (+550) pulling off the shocker, as the lumbering, defensive-minded Badgers do not appear to have the offense and speed to take down the speedy SEC visitors.

If Alabama is going to lose, it is because it beat itself, and there is no way it fumbles the ball away 3 times like it did last weekend.

PASS.

Against the spread

While WISCONSIN +16.5 (-110) has had some issues with consistency on offense, that defense has been nasty to date. Now, it will be interesting to see how it fares against a lightning fast Alabama -16.5 (-110) team, as opposed to FCS South Dakota and Western Michigan from the MAC.

We should see the Badgers hang around, though. Madtown is a tough place to play, and while previous iterations of Alabama might not be intimidated, we’re still learning about what to expect from Kalen DeBoer’s teams. Last week, the Tide was sloppy, and mistake-prone.

Over/Under

UNDER 49 (-110) is a strong play in this battle between the SEC and Big Ten.

Wisconsin’s lack of offense, and its powerful defense, is what is driving this under train. The venue also helps, while adding in the fact Alabama was its own worst enemy on offense for the first 3 1/2 quarters last week.

We’ll see if anything changes, but the body of work for both teams to date suggests going low.

USF at Alabama odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s USF at Alabama odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The No. 4 Alabama Crimson Tide (1-0) welcome the USF Bulls (1-0) to Bryant-Denny Stadium Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Alabama vs. USF odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

South Florida kicked off its season with a 48-3 win as a 43-point home favorite over Bethune-Cookman Aug. 31 as the Under (59.5) hit. QB Byrum Brown managed the game well with 152 passing yards, and RB Kelley Joiner chipped in with 78 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns. WR Abdur-Rahmaan Yaseen led the receiving group with 73 yards on 5 catches. But with Alabama up next, the Bulls will need to seriously up their game, especially when it comes to protecting Brown and handling Bama’s explosive offense.

Alabama kicked off the season in style, showing why it’s always in the national championship conversation. The Crimson Tide covered as 34-point favorites in a 63-0 win over visiting Western Kentucky Aug. 31 with the Over (59.5) cashing. QB Jalen Milroe was on point, completing 7 of 9 passes for 200 yards and 3 touchdowns. RB Justice Haynes didn’t need many touches to make an impact, racking up 102 rushing yards and a touchdown on just 4 carries. WR Ryan Williams turned 2 catches into 139 yards and 2 scores, proving the Tide’s big-play potential. On defense, Alabama was rock solid, shutting out Western Kentucky and stifling its offense. At home, the Crimson Tide look set to keep rolling, especially against USF.

USF at Alabama picks and predictions

Prediction

Alabama 49, USF 17

Moneyline

PASS.

Obviously, you should never make a -10000 bet, which is why you should focus on the spread for this game.

Against the spread

BET ALABAMA -30.5 (-115).

Alabama’s got the talent, depth, and home-field advantage to blow USF out of the water. Even though the Bulls looked decent last game, they’re about to face a whole new level of competition. Alabama should dominate from start to finish, and with a 9-3 record ATS in its last 12 games, taking it to cover the spread looks like a smart move.

Over/Under

BET OVER 63.5 (-110).

USF’s offense has been on a roll, putting up 45 or more points in its last 3 games going back to last year. Meanwhile, Alabama has been a safe bet for the Over, hitting it in 8 of its last 10 games.

After putting up 63 points in Week 1 against Western Kentucky, the Crimson Tide are clearly in scoring mode. With both teams capable of lighting up the scoreboard, this game should easily hit the Over. Expect a lot of points on the board in this one.

Western Kentucky at Alabama odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Western Kentucky at Alabama odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers and Alabama Crimson Tide open their seasons at Bryant-Denny Stadium Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Western Kentucky vs. Alabama odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Western Kentucky finished 8-5 (5-3 Conference USA) last year, wrapping up the season with a cover as a 4.5-point underdog in a 38-35 OT win over Old Dominion in the Famous Toastery Bowl with the Over (49.5) hitting.

The Hilltoppers have brought in Texas State transfer QB TJ Finley (24 TDs, 8 INTs in 2023) to lead an offense that was 16th in the nation (1st in C-USA) with 292.7 passing yards per game last season.

The Crimson Tide went 12-2 (8-0 SEC) in 2023 and made the College Football Playoff ahead of Florida State in what many viewed as a controversial decision. Alabama lost 27-20 in OT as a 2-point underdog to Michigan — the eventual national champion — in the Rose Bowl as the Over (46) barely cashed.

Alabama, which is No. 5 in the US LBM Coaches Poll, signed former Washington coach Kalen DeBoer in January to take over the team following Nick Saban’s retirement.

Western Kentucky at Alabama picks and predictions

Prediction

Alabama 48, Western Kentucky 14

Moneyline

The ML is off the board at BetMGM. The best price in the market is Alabama -10000 (bet $10,000 to win $100), and that’s obviously not a bet I would recommend.

PASS. Bet the spread and/or total instead.

Against the spread

While DeBoer’s success at Washington — going 14-1 straight up and making it to the National Championship game — can’t be directly translated into guaranteed covers for Alabama, it shows that there won’t be much of a coaching drop-off, if any, after Saban’s retirement.

The Crimson Tide were just 2-point underdogs to the eventual national champs in the Rose Bowl, and while they didn’t cover, it showed that the best available information in the market had Alabama less than a field goal worse than the best team in the country.

QB Jalen Milroe was mediocre in the Rose Bowl, finishing 16-of-23 passing for 116 yards with no TDs. However, in his 4th season, he should take another step forward after a breakout year in 2023 with 23 TDs and 6 INTs. Milroe is tied with Texas QB Quinn Ewers for the 3rd-shortest odds to win the Heisman Trophy this year (+1000 at BetMGM Sportsbook).

Let’s not overreact to a coaching change or an OT loss to last year’s national champs.

BET ALABAMA -31.5 (-110).

Over/Under

The Over went 8-1-1 in Alabama’s final 10 games last season. When the Crimson Tide were favored by double digits last year, the Over went 5-1-1, with Alabama averaging 39.9 points per game.

BET OVER 59.5 (-115).

March Madness: Alabama vs. UConn odds, picks and predictions

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Alabama Crimson Tide (25-11) battle the UConn Huskies (35-3) Saturday in the Final Four at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Ariz. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:49 p.m. ET (TBS). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Alabama vs. UConn odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and best bets.

Alabama, a 4-seed, advanced to its first Final Four in program history after knocking off 6th-seeded Clemson 89-83 in the Elite 8 March 30, covering as a 3-point favorite. G Mark Sears scored a game-high 23 points and was 7-for-14 from 3, while F Nick Pringle recorded a double-double (16 points, 11 rebounds). The Crimson Tide shot 46.8% from the field and 44.4% from beyond the arc.

UConn, a No. 1 seed, finds itself in back-to-back Final Fours after dominating 3rd-seeded Illinois 77-52 in the Elite 8 March 30. The Huskies covered as 8-point favorites. Alabama vs. UConn picks and predictions

Prediction

UConn 81, Alabama 68

Moneyline

PASS.

There is no value betting on UConn (-750) as one would have to risk 7½ times the potential return.

The Huskies have won 11 games in a row and 25 of their last 26. They’ve won each of their 4 NCAA Tournament games by 17 points or more for an average win margin of 27.8 points per game.

Against the spread

LEAN UCONN -11.5 (-115).

The Crimson Tide have covered in each of their 4 Tourney games, including one as 4.5-point underdogs in an 89-87 upset of top-seeded North Carolina.

However, their defense has been a liability. They’ve allowed 82 or more points in 3 of the 4 games and 81 or more points in 9 of their last 10.

On the contrary, the Huskies defense is one of their top strengths. It has allowed them to not only win each of their Tournament games but to win them in blowout fashion. They have covered in each of their 4 Tourney games with 3 of the covers being as 12-point or more favorites.

Understandably, this is a high line for a Final Four game, but it is worth a small wager to back the defending national champs.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 161.5 (-115).

While Alabama tends to score at a high rate, it faces a UConn team that has hit the Under in 5 straight and 8 of its last 9. The Huskies have held opponents to 58 or fewer points in each of its 4 Tournament games and 67 or fewer points in 9 of their last 10 games overall.

The Crimson Tide tend to play at a high pace, but the pace Saturday will be controlled by UConn, which will ultimately lead to the Under hitting.

March Madness: Clemson vs. Alabama odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Clemson vs. Alabama odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Clemson Tigers (24-11) and Alabama Crimson Tide (24-11) meet in the West Region final Saturday in Los Angeles. The opening tip-off at Crypto.com Arena is slated for 8:49 p.m. ET (TBS). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the Clemson vs. Alabama odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and best bets.

Clemson was an 8 1/2-point underdog Thursday against No. 2-seed Arizona, but the 6th-seeded Tigers prevailed, holding the Wildcats to a 37.3% mark from the floor and winning 77-72. Winner of 3 straight games as an underdog, CU now turns its attention to the Crimson Tide, a team it beat 85-77 back on Nov. 28.

Alabama, ranked No. 18 in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll, is the 4-seed in the West. On Thursday, the Crimson Tide defeated No. 1-seed North Carolina 89-87 (beating the spread as a +4.5). UA held the Tar Heels to a 38.5% mark from the field and in the Tournament has held opposing shooters to a 37.7% mark.

Clemson vs. Alabama picks and predictions

Prediction

Alabama 81, Clemson 80

Moneyline

PASS: look for more value in a play against the number.

Against the spread

Clemson has played 10 games as an underdog; it has gone 9-1 ATS in those games.

UA is averaging an NCAA-I-best 90.7 points per game, Clemson is 13-3 ATS when facing teams averaging 77-or-more points. This game offers up a pace contrast with the Tigers playing at a slower-than-average tempo and the Tide playing one the fastest in the game. But against the fastest 4 ACC squads (Florida State, Louisville, North Carolina, Syracuse), CU went 5-2 ATS during the regular season. In the Tournament, the Tigers have logged ATS victories against fast New Mexico and Arizona.

And during the season, when Clemson topped Alabama Nov. 28, that was an ATS win for the Tigers.

Clemson likes to get the ball inside, and the Alabama interior defense is not a strength. Still, UA figures to leverage systemic advantages in rebounding and in getting to the foul line. But a Tide edge in 3-point shooting (UA launches a ton of 3s and makes them at a top-25 rate) is softened by a Clemson surge in perimeter defense. The Tigers have held opponents to a 28.3% mark on 3s since Feb. 21.

Some air has been taken out of this play by a Friday line move: consider a partial-unit play on CLEMSON +3.5 (-110).

Over/Under

In 7 Clemson neutral-site games this season, the Under has gone 6-1.

These are 2 veteran teams who will leave everything on the court at the defensive end in this one. CU’s defensive rebounding and perimeter defense should take the starch out of a couple point-spiral factors for Alabama.

In the aforementioned Clemson games against fast ACC foes, Alabama, New Mexico, and Arizona, the Under went 7-3.

TAKE THE UNDER 163.5 (-105).

March Madness: Alabama vs. North Carolina odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Alabama vs. North Carolina odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The 4th-seeded Alabama Crimson Tide (23-11) face the top-seeded North Carolina Tar Heels (29-7) Thursday in a West Region Sweet 16 matchup. Tip-off from Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles is set for 9:39 p.m. ET (CBS). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the Alabama vs. North Carolina odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and best bets.

Alabama, ranked No. 18 in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll, has advanced in the tournament with victories over Charleston and Grand Canyon. In the latter win, a 72-61 triumph covering as 5-point favorites Sunday, the Tide had to battle back from a 3-point deficit with 5:43 remaining.

North Carolina, tabbed as the national No. 4 in the coaches poll, has defeated Wagner and Michigan State. The Tar Heels’ Saturday win over MSU was a sturdy 85-69 job, covering a 4-point spread. Since Feb. 17, UNC is 10-1 with an average margin of victory of 13.1 points.

UA and UNC have met twice in the last 5 years, both times in early-season tournaments on neutral floors. The Tar Heels won in 2019 in a contest played in the Bahamas. In 2022, Alabama nipped North Carolina 103-101 in an overtime contest played in Portland.

Alabama vs. North Carolina picks and predictions

Prediction

North Carolina 85, Alabama 82

Moneyline

The lean here is on this being a close game, but UA is 1-9 straight up in its last 10 games as an underdog. Hold off on trying to cash on the Tide outright.

PASS.

Against the spread

The Crimson Tide are 9-5 ATS in non-SEC games.

Alabama looked to have been slumping in late February and early March, but its 2 tournament wins in this West bracket have been impressive.

Figure the public being a tad too high on the Tar Heels. While UNC has some systemic advantages (rebounding, free throws) in what figures to be a contest with a ton of possessions, its recent 3-point defense (39.6% last 3 games, 37.9% since Feb. 26) is a glaring issue against this fast-break, perimeter-launch Alabama 5.

On offense, Carolina can be goaded into taking too many mid-range, sub-optimal shots.

TAKE THE CRIMSON TIDE +4.5 (-110).

Over/Under

Look for solid handles on the basketball at both ends, and figure inside looks for UA — normally a staple to be tougher to come by.

Both teams play fast. The Tide play exceedingly fast. And the only UNC-comparable defense they have seen in the SEC belongs to Tennessee. The O/U went 1-1 across UA and TU games in the regular season. The 2nd game was a drama-free Under; the 1st game hit the Over but only with some statistically unlikely transition and perimeter ball cranked out by the Volunteers.

BACK THE UNDER 173.5 (-110) in this one.
