Texas A&M will have two players vying for their first Super Bowl ring

Ainias Smith and Braden Mann will have the opportunity to bring home a championship game ring from Super Bowl LIX

The Philadelphia Eagles punched their ticket to Super Bowl LIX after a 55-23 beating of the Washington Commanders in the NFC Championship game.

That win means two Texas A&M Aggies will play for their first NFL title of their careers. Starting punter Braden Mann and reserve wide receiver Ainias Smith are going to New Orleans with the Eagles to take on the Kansas City Chiefs.

Mann took over the starting punting job in 2023 and has averaged close to 50 yards a punt, with 35 landing inside the 20-yard line.

During the playoffs, he punted 11 times for a 46.6 average, with four punts inside the 20. Although Smith was inactive during the playoffs, he did score his first NFL touchdown in the final game of the regular season.

NFL rookie WR Ainias Smith gets first career TD in the final week of the regular season

Ainias Smith started the 2025 year with his first career touchdown in the win over the New York Giants in Week 18

On the final Sunday of the NFL regular season, two All-Time favorite Texas A&M receivers hit important milestones in their career. In the twilight of his career, Mike Evans reached 1,000 yards for the 11th straight season, and rookie Philadelphia Eagles Ainias Smith recorded his first NFL touchdown.

Smith has only played in five games this season, with his most significant playing time coming in the season’s final game. It was a solid outing, with him catching 4 of 6 targets for 35 yards and a long of 15.

However, at around the minute mark of the first quarter, he hauled in a pass from Tanner McKee for a touchdown you can watch below.

It was nice to see Smith get his time on the field and hit pay dirt before the season ended.

Eagles open Ainias Smith’s 21-day practice window

The Philadelphia Eagles opened the 21-day practice window for rookie wide receiver Ainias Smith after he missed four games with an ankle injury

The Eagles just announced that rookie wide receiver Ainias Smith will return to practice after the team opened his 21-day practice window.

Smith was placed on injured reserve after consulting with team physicians.

A player clearly on the roster bubble before his injury, Smith missed about five and a half weeks, protecting the former Texas A&M star from potentially being waived and claimed by another team.

Smith caught six of nine targets for 36 yards in the Eagles’ 26-3 preseason loss to the Vikings. He also returned one punt for 14 yards.

The 2024 fifth-round pick should push for slot reps on offense and the punt returner role on special teams for the Eagles in the future, but his present-day scenario will involve learning the NFL game.

Zach Berman reports that Eagles rookie wide receiver Ainias Smith will be placed on injured reserve after consulting with team physicians.

A player clearly on the roster bubble, Smith will miss 4-6 weeks, protecting the former Texas A&M star from potentially being waived and claimed by another team.

On Monday, Ian Rapoport reported that Smith is dealing with ankle and hamstring injuries that could sideline him for the start of the regular season.

Smith caught six of nine targets for 36 yards in Saturday’s 26-3 preseason loss to the Vikings. He also returned one punt for 14 yards.

Ainias Smith is clearly on the roster bubble, and as the Eagles work to trim the roster down to 53 players, the former Texas A&M dual-threat could start the season on injured reserve.

Ainias Smith hauls in the game winning catch for the Philadelphia Eagles

Texas A&M star, Ainias Smith, helps lead the Eagles to victory with game winning catch

Through two preseason NFL games, former Texas A&M wide receiver Ainias Smith had only two catches for 7 yards. However, on Thursday night Smith showed off his clutch gene that we became so used to at A&M.

With under five minutes left in the game, the Philadelphia Eagles were down by one against the New England Patriots. They lined up for a two-point conversion. When the huddle broke, Smith motioned out, and the ball was hiked. He sprinted toward the pylon. He showed off his hands, catching a ball slightly behind him for the score, putting the Eagles up 14 -13 for the eventual victory.

Smith finished his incredible Aggie career with 2,812 yards and 23 touchdowns from scrimmage and is ranked seventh in Texas A&M history in receiving yards (2,407). Next, Smith and the Eagles will return to Philadelphia to take on the Minnesota Vikings.

NFL Preseason Week 1: Can the Ravens defend the Eagles passing game?

Baltimore Ravens rookie Nate Wiggins will tested by Philadelphia Eagles WR’s Johnny Wilson and Ainias Smith in their upcoming exhibition game.

The Baltimore Ravens intentionally drafted to replenish their depth chart at the defensive back position earlier this spring. They’ll get a chance to see the implications of the 2024 NFL draft when they face the Philadelphia Eagles in their preseason opener tonight.

Ravens’ rookie Nate Wiggins will tested by Eagles’ rookie wide receivers, including Johnny Wilson and former Texas A&M speedster Ainias Smith. Earlier this spring, I suggested that the Ravens draft Smith because his upside makes him an asset in special teams even if he does not make the frequent rotation needed in the 11-man personnel on offense. Nevertheless, Wilson’s game is a little different from Smith’s. Standing six feet six inches tall, Wilson creates an offensive nightmare for defensive backs, and with Ravens’ rookie wide receiver Devontez Walker already terrorizing Wiggins at practice, Wilson may excel in week 1 of the NFL preseason.

For the Ravens, not much of an update has surfaced on Iowa State draftee defensive back T.J Tampa. Consequently, Ravens’ fans may see heavy playing time given to defensive back Jalyn Armour-Davis and 22-year-old safety Sanoussi Kane in the preseason debut.

Ultimately, it is presumptuous to assume the Ravens will be the same defensive powerhouse they were a season ago with zero evidence. In the preseason, veteran safety Eddie Jackson and defensive back Brandon Stephens may see extra reps to assist the second-string players with adjusting to the tenacity at the NFL level.

Kellen Moore discusses the process of evaluating the Eagles’ 3rd WR spot

Kellen Moore discusses the process of evaluating the Philadelphia Eagles’ 3rd WR spot

The Philadelphia Eagles have two of the top ten wide receivers in the NFLA.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, but the third wide receiver spot leaves a lot to be desired, with several guys competing for snaps.

Kellen Moore has been tasked with running the Eagles’ offense, and his first order of business is finding a player to complement his dynamic duo. Moore recently discussed his evaluation process with the media.

Yeah, it’s a really fun process. We have some excellent guys here. It’s a really deep receiving group. It’s so much fun to watch all the guys compete.

They’ll all get their opportunities, all chances. Obviously, [WR] DeVonta [Smith] and [WR] A.J. [Brown] will certainly have a lot of the opportunities, but those other guys, I mean, there are critical moments where we have to put those guys in a position to succeed.

They have to be able to adjust based off where those guys are aligned. We have to have smart guys that understand where they are and can be reliable. We have an excellent group to compete with.

The options include Parris Campbell, who’s amassed 170 yards once in five NFL seasons. Philadelphia’s 2024 Day 3 draft picks Ainias Smith and Johnny Wilson, along with punt returner Britain Covey, who has a good feel for the slot but has barely played on offense in the regular season.

Former Clemson wide receiver Joseph Ngata and former first-round pick John Ross are two other players to watch.

Eagles sign WR Ainias Smith to his rookie deal

The Philadelphia Eagles signed wide receiver Ainias Smith to his four-year rookie contract

The Eagles signed three draft picks on Monday, including former Texas A&M wide receiver Ainias Smith.

Philadelphia selected Smith with one of their three fifth-round picks (No. 152 overall) in the 2024 NFL Draft.

A true dual-threat and versatile player, Smith is the only 2,000-yard receiver in SEC history to collect at least 250 yards on rush attempts, punt returns, and kickoff returns.

According to Pro Football Focus, Smith caught 94.7 percent of the catchable targets in his direction last season, one of the highest marks in the class.

Like Will Shipley, Smith will see snaps at multiple spots, including wide receiver, running back, and slot receiver.

Texas A&M WR Ainias Smith selected in fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft

Ainias Smith is headed to Philadelphia!

Texas A&M wide receiver Ainias Smith has been selected 152nd overall in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft by the Philadelphia Eagles.

Smith was a 2023 first team SEC selection in two separate categories: all-purpose and as a return specialist. He hauled in at least 1 catch in 39 consecutive games. The graduate student racked up 1,204 all-purpose yards last season with 53 receptions for 795 yards and 2 touchdowns.

He added 285 punt return yards and 103 kick return yards, including a career-high 131 punt return yards against Arkansas on Sept. 30. During the 34-22 win against the Razorbacks at “Jerry’s World,” he returned a punt 82 yards for a touchdown.

Smith is very comparable to former Eagles wideout DeSean Jackson, given his ability to be a reliable receiver on offense and a lethal option in the punt and return game on special teams.

Four Aggies have been selected in the draft thus far including: Edgerrin Cooper, McKinnley Jackson and Layden Robinson.
