Packers to host official pre-draft visit with Northwestern edge rusher Adetomiwa Adebawore

The Packers will host Northwestern edge rusher Adetomiwa Adebawore on an official top-30 visit before the 2023 NFL draft.

The Green Bay Packers will host Northwestern edge rusher Adetomiwa Adebawore on an official top-30 visit before the 2023 NFL draft, per Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. The visit is scheduled for Friday.

All teams can host up to 30 prospects for visits before the draft. The Packers’ list of reported visits can be found here: Tracking Packers’ official pre-draft visits ahead of 2023 NFL draft.

Adetomiwa (6-2, 282) produced five sacks, nine tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, 31 total pressures and 27 run stops for Northwestern during the 2022 season. A two-time All-Big Ten selection, he created 12.5 sacks, 24.5 tackles for loss, four forced fumbles and six pass breakups over 41 career games and four seasons.

Adetomiwa was a star of the combine, finishing the 40-yard dash in 4.49 seconds, hitting 37.5″ in the vertical leap, covering 10-5 in the broad jump, finishing the three-cone in 7.13 seconds and the short shuttle in 4.26 seconds and putting up 27 reps on the bench press. His Relative Athletic Score is 9.72 out of 10.0. His performances the 40-yard dash, jumps and agility drills are among the best ever for a defensive lineman.

The Packers, who need help at edge rusher and along the defensive line, could view Adetomiwa as a dual-threat player who can play on the edge or inside as a situational pass-rusher.

It’s possible Adetomiwa could be a real option for the Packers in the second round, especially if the team acquires an additional second-rounder from the New York Jets.

7 prospects the Eagles should avoid in the 2023 NFL Draft

We’re looking at seven prospects the Philadelphia Eagles should probably avoid in the 2023 NFL draft

The 2023 NFL Draft is fast approaching, and as teams search for star power, there’s always a group of players that organizations should avoid.

Philadelphia currently has six picks in the selection process.

After losing ten key contributors to NFL free agency, GM Howie Roseman can ill afford to miss on a pick or reach for potential.

With the Eagles continuing top 30 pre-draft visits this week, we’re looking at seven prospects Philadelphia should altogether avoid.

4 prospects who are difficult evaluations for the 2023 NFL draft

Which prospects have been difficult evaluations in 2023?

It would be great if every NFL draft prospect were an easy book to read in the evaluation process. Some are; there are many players whose draft evals are pretty cut and dry, like an English professor reading “Spot’s First Easter.”

There are some prospects every year where it feels like the book is written in a different language in every chapter. No amount of film study, interviews or projective analysis reads definitively or cleanly. These are players who might look like a fantastic future NFL player from one viewpoint but not worthy of anywhere close to that level of draft love from another.

Here are four players who fit that bill in the 2023 NFL draft. They’re all books that are difficult to read as prospects.

Bears 2023 NFL draft preview: Where does Chicago stand at DE?

Defensive end is the next focus in our Bears positional reviews, where the team is still looking for their star pass rusher.

The Chicago Bears have had a busy offseason, working to improve the team following their historic 3-14 run during the 2022 season during general manager Ryan Poles and head coach Matt Eberflus’ first year with the team. Now going into Year 2, Poles and Eberflus are working to get the Bears back to relevancy and build a foundation that will eventually lead to postseason success.

Following their free agency frenzy, the Bears are setting their sights towards the 2023 NFL draft, which is quickly approaching. After initially winding up with the No. 1 overall pick, the Bears moved down to No. 9 following a lucrative trade with the Carolina Panthers. They will look to shore up certain positions such as offensive tackle and defensive line that still have glaring holes.

Here at Bears Wire, we’re going position by position to break down where Chicago stands entering the NFL draft. After looking at the offensive side of the ball, it’s time to turn our focus to defense. We begin with defensive end where the Bears are still searching for their star pass rusher.

Rams met privately with Northwestern DL Adetomiwa Adebawore

Adetomiwa Adebawore was one of the big winners of the combine this year and the Rams are showing interest in the athletic pass rusher

Adetomiwa Adebawore was one of the biggest winners of the NFL combine this year, dominating his workout in Indianapolis. At 6-foot-2 and 282 pounds, he ran a 4.49 in the 40-yard dash, jumped 37.5 inches in the vertical and had a broad jump of 10 feet, 5 inches.

It was one of the best performances of anyone, improving his stock leading up to the draft and he could end up being a first-round pick later this month.

The Rams probably hope he falls to them at No. 36 overall, showing interest in the Northwestern product. According to Aaron Wilson, the Rams met privately with Adebawore around his pro day, as did some other teams.

Adebawore is a tweener prospect up front, projecting by some as an interior defender and others as an edge rusher. Even though he’s just 6-foot-2, which is undersized by edge-rusher standards, he has 33 7/8-inch arms, which is plenty long enough.

The other thing that hurts Adebawore is his lack of college production, recording just 12.5 sacks in four seasons, along with 24.5 tackles for a loss. That being said, his athleticism gives him a high ceiling as a prospect.

2023 NFL draft: Seahawks to host Northwestern DT Adetomiwa Adebawore

Priority Nos. 1, 2 and 3 for the Seahawks this offseason are improving their defensive line.

Priority Nos. 1, 2 and 3 for the Seahawks this offseason are improving their defensive line. Seattle has already signed two interior defensive linemen and has met with a few more free agents. They are also doing their due diligence on several defensive line prospects ahead of the 2023 NFL draft.

Now we can add two more names to that list. Seattle will be meeting with Tennessee EDGE Byron Young as well as Northwestern DT Adetomiwa Adebawore, according to Aaron Wilson.

Adebawore would give Seattle what it needs most up front – pressure from the interior. Over the last two seasons at Northwestern he totaled 9.5 sacks and 17.5 tackles for a loss.

The real draws for Adebawore are his length and athleticism. At the combine he was measured at 6-foot-2, 282 pounds with 33.875″ arms and 10.5″ hands. He ran a 4.49 40 yard dash, posted a 37.5″ vertical and a 10’5″ broad jump. He also had 27 bench press reps, giving him a 97 overall athletic score – which ranks first at his position in the class.

Here’s a look at Adebawore’s college highlights.

At the moment Adebawore is projected to be a late second-round pick.

Saints work out ascending DL prospect Adetomiwa Adebawore

The New Orleans Saints worked out Northwestern defensive lineman Adetomiwa Adebawore, an ascending prospect in the 2023 draft:

The New Orleans Saitns have been linked to Adetomiwa Adebawore in so many mock drafts that it kind of felt like only a matter of time until he met with the team officially. KPRC 2 Houston’s Aaron Wilson reports that the Saints put Adebawore through a personal workout to get a better idea of what the big man has to offer.

Adebawore put himself on everyone’s radar at the NFL scouting combine after weighing in at 6-foot-1.5 and 282 pounds, with great length for a defensive lineman thanks to his 32.8-inch arms. He posted top marks in all of the athletic testing at the combine to cap what’s been a productive college career, though pro teams have been trying him out at defensive tackle after he mainly played out on the edge.

He’d be a good fit for the Saints. Depending on which other prospects are available, he could be an option for their first-round pick at No. 29 or their second rounder at 40 overall. He’ll need some time to adjust to a new alignment and the jump in quality of competition, but he has the physical tools to be a disruptive player in their rotation behind Nathan Shepherd and Khalen Saunders.

2023 NFL Mock Draft: Kevin Fielder’s Mock Draft 4.0

The fourth mock draft from Kevin Fielder has Will Levis falling down the board with the Cardinals trading up for Bijan Robinson.

It’s the final countdown…

That is both a lyric to the hit song Doghouse by Europe and the current reality of the NFL Draft. After a long pre-draft process, NFL teams are beginning to finalize their draft boards and prepare for situations that may arise during the three-day event.

It’s also an opportunity for writers like myself to give people one more mock draft. Like my other mock drafts, this one is meant to explore possibilities and is not guaranteed to go 31-for-31 on draft night. Like the others, it also includes trades but does not include compensation.

For housekeeping purposes, this mock draft also assumes two major storylines: Aaron Rodgers heads to the New York Jets, and Lamar Jackson remains with the Baltimore Ravens.

The first one seems like a guarantee, but there is still a possibility that Rodgers does not become a Jet. The second one is murkier, but there hasn’t been enough news released to assume that he is on the move this season. As a result, Jackson remains in Baltimore for at least next season.

With that being said, let’s mock.

Todd McShay’s two-round mock draft brings big upgrades for the Saints

Todd McShay’s two-round mock draft brought big upgrades for the Saints defensive line and tight ends depth chart:

We’re closing in on the final stretch to the 2023 NFL draft, which means a new series of mock drafts are dropping all around the league’s orbit. And the latest take is a two-round projection from ESPN draft analyst Todd McShay, who has some on-brand picks in mind for the New Orleans Saints.

The Saints need more depth along their defensive line, which McShay made their top priority. But they could also get more dynamic offensively, and there are ample opportunities for accomplishing that in the second round of this projection. Here’s who he has going to New Orleans:

Chargers trade back, stack deck on both sides in 4-round mock draft

In our latest 4-round mock draft, the Chargers trade back, get an additional second-round pick and bolster both sides of the ball.

The Chargers are currently slated to pick No. 21 overall in the 2023 NFL draft, which is just over three weeks away, at least for now.

In a recent media availability, general manager Tom Telesco hinted at the possibility of a trade back.

“Certainly, when you’re in that late first, there’s probably a little bit more of a thought,” said Telesco. “Essentially, at that point, you’re taking a player that at least you have graded as a second-round player.

That’s all really subjective. But if you can trade back a little bit and pick up a pick and still get maybe even the same player or close to the same player, then it’s a pretty good deal to do.”

If they were to trade back, this would mark the first time that Telesco has done it in his tenure as Los Angeles’ GM.

So what if Telesco pulls the trigger? I did a mock draft that saw the Chargers trade the 21st pick for the Bengals’ 28th and 60th selections.

Let’s dive into the haul.
