Thunder to sign former Baylor standout Adam Flagler to two-way contract

Former Baylor standout Adam Flagler will reportedly sign a two-way contract with the Thunder.

Former Baylor standout Adam Flagler will reportedly sign a two-way contract with the Oklahoma City Thunder, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Flagler, who went undrafted last year, has spent the season with the OKC Blue in the G League, averaging 12.9 points, 3.7 rebounds and three assists on 40.4% shooting from 3-point range in 15 games. He has scored in double figures 10 times, including three 20-point games.

The Thunder had an open two-way contract spot available after converting third-year guard Lindy Waters III to a standard contract on Friday. The team now has Flagler, Keyontae Johnson and Olivier Sarr signed to two-way contracts.

Flagler was a unanimous All-Big 12 first-team selection last season as a senior after averaging 15.6 points, 4.6 assists, 2.4 rebounds and 1.2 steals on 40% shooting from 3-point range. He finished second in the conference in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.7) and 3-point percentage.

He arrived at Baylor during the 2020-21 season and helped lead the team to the national title after transferring from Presbyterian. He finished 23rd on the career scoring list (1,181) at Baylor after three seasons, ninth in 3-pointers (201) and second in 3-point percentage (40.2).

Report: OKC Thunder sign Adam Flagler to two-way deal

Report: OKC Thunder signs Adam Flagler to two-way deal.

The Oklahoma City Thunder signed Adam Flagler to a two-way deal, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

The 24-year-old went undrafted in 2023 out of Baylor and has spent the season with the G League’s OKC Blue. In 14 games, he’s averaged 12.6 points on 44.5% shooting, 3.4 rebounds and 3.1 assists. He’s shot 42% from 3 on 5.8 attempts.

In four college seasons from 2018 to 2023, Flagler averaged 13.8 points on 43.7% shooting, 2.6 assists and 2.6 rebounds.

The Thunder recently had a vacant two-way spot after Lindy Waters III was signed to a standard NBA deal on Friday. Flagler joins Keyontae Johnson and Olivier Sarr as OKC’s three two-way players.

The Thunder’s 18-player roster — 15 standard and three two-way — is now full. OKC also signed Bismack Biyombo for the rest of the season.

OKC Thunder sign Jaden Shackelford, Jahmi’us Ramsey; waive Caleb McConnell, Adam Flagler

The Thunder continue to collect the G League rights of several players.

The Oklahoma City Thunder announced another series of roster moves on Friday.

The Thunder announced they had waived Caleb McConnell and Adam Flagler a day after signing them. Both players went undrafted after lengthy college careers and played for the Thunder in summer league.

Immediately afterward, they announced the signings of Jaden Shackelford and Jahmi’us Ramsey.

None of these moves should be surprising to anybody who follows the Thunder. All these additions and releases are to give the Thunder the G League rights of these players, setting the stage for the Thunder to assign them to the OKC Blue.

The Thunder made the same sign-and-immediately-waive moves on Hunter Maldonado and KJ Williams. Both players went undrafted after lengthy college careers and played for the Thunder in summer league.

In Shackelford’s case, he’ll continue his G League career with the Blue. In 44 games last season, he averaged 13.8 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists. The 22-year-old went undrafted in 2022 and subsequently signed with the Blue.

Ramsey has played in the G League since going undrafted in 2020. Last season with the Blue, he averaged 21.3 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.1 steals.

Shackelford and Ramsey will likely get waived soon and be assigned to the Blue once again.

The Blue’s 2023-24 season is set to start on Nov. 10.

OKC Thunder sign Caleb McConnell, Adam Flagler; waive Hunter Maldonado, KJ Williams

The Thunder made a series of roster moves related to the OKC Blue.

The Oklahoma City Thunder announced a series of roster moves on Thursday prior to their preseason finale against the Detroit Pistons.

The Thunder announced they had waived Hunter Maldonado and KJ Williams a day after signing them. Both players went undrafted and played on the Thunder’s summer league roster in July.

This shouldn’t be surprising. The Thunder signed both players to their rosters and quickly released them to gain their G League rights and assign them to the OKC Blue.

In a similar move, the Thunder announced they had signed Caleb McConnell and Adam Flagler to their roster. Both players went undrafted and played for their summer league roster this past July.

McConnell played five college seasons at Rutgers from 2018 to 2023. For his career, he averaged 6.8 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.9 assists. The 24-year-old is a two-time Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year.

Flagler played college seasons between Presbyterian and Baylor from 2018 to 2023. For his career, he averaged 13.8 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.6 assists. The 23-year-old was a 2022-23 AP All-American honorable mention.

Just like Maldonado and Williams, McConnell and Flagler will presumably be waived shortly and assigned to the OKC Blue once the Thunder acquire their G League rights.

The OKC Blue is set to start their 2022-23 season on Nov. 10.

Report: OKC Thunder sign undrafted free agent Adam Flagler

The Thunder have added another undrafted free agent.

The Oklahoma City Thunder continue to inject youth into their roster. They signed undrafted free agent Baylor guard Adam Flagler, per HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto.

Flagler didn’t hear his name called during the draft but was one of the more notable undrafted free agents available. The 23-year-old spent four seasons in college from 2018 to 2023. He spent his freshman year at Presbyterian before transferring and playing three seasons at Baylor.

In 32 games last season, Flagler averaged 15.6 points on 42.6% shooting, 4.6 assists and 2.4 rebounds. He also shot 40% from 3 on an average of 6.3 attempts.

It’s unknown what kind of deal Flagler signed with the Thunder, but it’s likely a similar non-guarantee deal fellow undrafted rookie Caleb McConnell signed, where OKC gets a shot to see how they play in summer league before making a roster decision.

2023 Lakers draft prospect profile: Adam Flagler

A look at Adam Flagler, a guard from Baylor University.

The Los Angeles Lakers will have the opportunity to add young talent to their roster in an inexpensive way in the 2023 NBA draft.

Fans are focusing most of their attention on the fact the Lakers will have the No. 17 pick in this year’s draft. That pick has the potential to yield a serviceable player, if not a good player, for the team.

But Los Angeles also has the No. 47 selection in the draft, and the team has had some success finding gems late in the draft in recent years.

One prospect they have brought in for a workout that they could use that pick on is Adam Flagler, a guard from Baylor University.

All-Big 12 guard Adam Flagler declares for 2023 NBA draft

Flagler is regarded as one of the top shooters in the draft after converting 40% on 6.3 attempts per game from 3-point range.

Baylor senior Adam Flagler on Monday announced that he will forgo his final year of eligibility and declare for the 2023 NBA draft, wrapping up a productive career with the Bears.

Flagler was a unanimous All-Big 12 first-team selection after averaging 15.6 points, 4.6 assists, 2.4 rebounds and 1.2 steals on 40% shooting from 3-point range. He finished second in the conference in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.7) and 3-point percentage.

He arrived at Baylor during the 2020-21 season and helped lead the team to the national title after transferring from Presbyterian. He finishes 23rd on the career scoring list at Baylor after three seasons (1,181), ninth in 3-pointers (201) and second in 3-point percentage (40.2).

Flagler is highly touted for his ability as a shooter. He is regarded as one of the top shooters in the draft this year and can spot up from virtually all over the court. He has great fluidity with his shot and projects to be a great fit at the next level.

He isn’t currently projected to be drafted, but will likely have the opportunity to showcase himself in front of teams and scouts next month at the combine in Chicago, Illinois.

The early entry deadline for the draft is April 23.

2022 NBA Draft Big Board 1.0: Debut rankings of the top 101 prospects

Let’s be honest. Ranking the best NBA draft prospects is a fool’s errand. But evaluating this class is an especially challenging assignment.

Let’s be honest. Ranking the best NBA draft prospects is a fool’s errand. But evaluating this class is an especially challenging assignment.

One of the top pre-season prospects (Patrick Baldwin Jr.) is playing for a mid-major program that has just two wins so far this season. Other top prospects (AJ Griffin and Peyton Watson) are not getting much playing time for their high-major programs. Meanwhile, guard Jean Montero is playing in the inaugural Overtime Elite league. How do we compare his productivity to other prospects? I’m frankly not sure.

But nevertheless, my big board exists. Rather than going small, I decided to blow it up and do the opposite. Why did I go ahead and rank 101 prospects if this class has been so challenging to evaluate? There are two distinct reasons.

One is that I’m absolutely crazy and get a very fulfilling satisfaction with the completion of a mock draft and big board because it feels complete. It looks awesome seeing as many names as I can fit on one article, even if the science behind the rankings is a bit inconclusive.

The other reason is that as I make more big boards throughout the year, it’s interesting to track the progress (and regression) of certain prospects. I am inevitably wrong about most of these placements! But this article serves as a barometer for where I feel certain players are at in their development right now.

Note that several notable prospects (e.g. freshmen Max Christie, Matthew Cleveland, Nolan Hickman, Hunter Sallis, Brandon Huntley-Hatfield, Jeremy Sochan, Kobe Bufkin) were excluded because I expect them to go back to school to improve their draft stock.

More likely than not, some of those players will declare for the 2022 NBA draft. When that happens, I obviously will not have them outside of my top 101.

Until then, as we prepare to turn the calendar into a new year, here are the debut rankings for 101 of my favorite prospects.

All stats are accurate as of Dec. 14 and are from Sports-Reference unless noted otherwise.
