Spurs newest player: Jamaree Bouyea dominates in recent G League game

Here are some top highlights from one of the newest members of the San Antonio Spurs, Jamaree Bouyea.

The San Antonio Spurs are at the point in the season where they have the freedom to start taking a closer look at some young players. Recently, they made a string of transactions, bringing in two new two-way players – Jamaree Bouyea and Raiquan Gray. In turn, they converted Dominick Barlow’s contract from a two-way deal to a standard contract.

Bouyea, in particular, had been absolutely dominating the G League prior to getting picked up by the Spurs. He was playing for the Sioux Falls Skyforce, the Miami Heat’s G League affiliate, and in his final few games with them, Bouyea was unbelievable.

Here are the best highlights from one of his last games with the Skyforce before the Spurs signed him to a two-way contract.

Adding a guy like Bouyea gives the Spurs a chance to evaluate a top-notch G League player at a position of need for the remainder of the season.

Report: Spurs sign Jamaree Bouyea to two-way contract

The San Antonio Spurs have signed Jamaree Bouyea to a two-way contract.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the San Antonio Spurs have signed guard Jamaree Bouyea to a two-way contract. After going undrafted, the now-24-year-old spent time with the Miami Heat and Washington Wizards in the 2022-23 season and appeared in six games with the Portland Trail Blazers this year.

Following his stint in Portland, Bouyea was with the Sioux Falls Skyforce, the Heat’s G League affiliate. In 22 games, he averaged 18.2 points, 5.9 rebounds, 7.5 assists, 2.0 steals, and 1.0 blocks while shooting 48.0% from the field and 41.3% from distance on 5.5 three-point attempts per game. However, he was on a tear when the Spurs picked him up.

In his last three games prior to joining the Spurs, the 24-year-old guard averaged roughly 29 points, nine rebounds, and 11 assists.

Adding Bouyea will give the Spurs a chance to evaluate a guy who plays a position that they are currently a bit weak at. Bouyea’s upside at the point guard position is very intriguing.

Lakers draft prospect profile: Jamaree Bouyea

Our look at University of San Francisco guard Jamaree Bouyea.

Just because the Los Angeles Lakers do not have a pick in the upcoming NBA draft doesn’t mean they’re not doing their due diligence on draft prospects.

The team is reportedly interested in acquiring a second-round pick, and many expect it to also try to sign at least one undrafted player as a free agent.

One player the Lakers recently brought in for a workout is Jamaree Bouyea, who is a guard for the University of San Francisco.

Bouyea is listed at 6-foot-2 and 180 pounds, and he played five seasons for the Dons.

Here is a look at Bouyea.

San Francisco’s Jamaree Bouyea expected to garner two-way interest

Bouyea averaged 17.3 points, five rebounds, four assists and 1.8 steals last season as a senior.

Former San Francisco guard Jamaree Bouyea is reportedly expected to draw two-way interest from teams in the NBA draft, according to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.

Bouyea, who was named to the All-WCC first team, averaged 17.3 points, five rebounds, four assists and 1.8 steals last season as a senior. He helped guide the Dons to their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1998 and was the second-leading scorer in the conference.

The 6-foot-2 standout is considered to be a potential second-round pick this year. However, if he goes undrafted, he would have the opportunity to sign with a team that best suits his skill set and future development.

Bouyea said previously that playing four years at San Francisco helped prepare him to be an all-around point guard at the next level. He has improved as a ballhandler and ability to see the floor better to get others involved.

The soon-to-be 23-year-old could be a player to watch on draft night. Some believe he has the potential to step in and contribute immediately and teams could be lining up to take him, as a result.

The NBA draft will tip off on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. EDT.

Jamaree Bouyea explains biggest area of growth at San Francisco

Bouyea recently worked out with the Lakers and will compete in the NBA G League Elite Camp in Chicago.

NBA draft prospect Jamaree Bouyea explained on Tuesday after a workout with the Los Angeles Lakers how his game has grown after playing five seasons at the University of San Francisco.

Bouyea, who was named to the All-WCC first team, averaged 17.3 points, five rebounds, four assists and 1.8 steals. He helped guide the Dons to their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1998 and was the second-leading scorer in the conference.

The 6-foot-2 standout left as the all-time program leader in wins (98) and games played (160). His time with San Francisco helped shape him into the player he is today and believes that he is a more-rounded point guard, as a result.

I think I’ve grown in the point guard position as a whole. I think when I came to USF, I wasn’t so savvy, poised and patient as a guard. I was kinda just an athletic guard running the floor. I think now I can handle the ball, get into pick and rolls and make the right plays and see the right reeds. I’ve picked up on my defense since I’ve been in college and that is one thing I take pride in now.

Bouyea, in what became his final collegiate game, erupted for a career-high 36 points in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in an overtime loss to Murray State. He thought the outing showed more coaches and scouts what can bring to the next level.

He enters the pre-draft process projected by some to be a second-round pick. In addition to working out with the Lakers, Bouyea also visited the Atlanta Hawks and is among the prospects set to compete in the NBA G League Elite Camp May 16-17 in Chicago, Illinois.

With plenty of workouts on the horizon, Bouyea will have the opportunity to showcase his game in front of talent evaluators. He proved to be a great player in college and will be hoping to do the same at the next level.

Jamaree Bouyea among draft prospects to work out with Lakers

Bouyea will be among the prospects to participate in a pre-draft workout with the Lakers on Tuesday.

Former San Francisco guard Jamaree Bouyea will be among the prospects to participate in a pre-draft workout with the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday, the team announced.

Bouyea, who was named to the All-WCC first team, averaged 17.3 points, five rebounds, four assists and 1.8 steals. He helped guide the Dons to their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1998 and was the second-leading scorer in the conference.

The 6-foot-2 guard has also worked out with the Atlanta Hawks and was invited to compete in front of scouts, coaches and front-office executives at the NBA G League Elite Camp on May 16 and 17 from Chicago, Illinois.

[mm-video type=video id=01g2abc88k25vd90w718 playlist_id=01f09kz5ecxq9bp57b player_id=01f1jz4xgnrkxx89vh image=https://images2.minutemediacdn.com/image/upload/video/thumbnail/mmplus/01g2abc88k25vd90w718/01g2abc88k25vd90w718-bdbd0e517d8616d8616c9dffb47be5d0.jpg]

In addition to Bouyea, the Lakers will also host Michigan guard DeVante’ Jones, Tulsa forward Jeriah Horne, UT Arlington forward Kaodirichi Akobundu-Ehiogu, Georgia Tech guard Jordan Usher and Richmond forward Grant Golden on Tuesday.

The Lakers enter the pre-draft process with no picks in either round. The team dealt its first-round pick to the New Orleans Pelicans in the trade involving Anthony Davis and their second-round selection was sent to the Washington Wizards in a cap-clearing move.

Despite having no draft picks, the Lakers will still do their due diligence on those fringe prospects that could go undrafted. The team could eventually acquire picks to take a prospect or sign them outright in free agency after the draft.

The NBA draft will take place on June 23.
